Argument for the music side regarding OSTs. While there are only so many games, there are countless copies of games on different devices, and those OSTs are kept as separate files within the games’ files
Those would count under the generic "File" description. It doesn't matter what type of music it is, as long as it is a digital file. The real question is why Pheonix didn't bring up downloaded copies of songs, since people make playlists all the time. It probably given him the chance to compete with Edgeworth's numbers.

books win for right now because they have been made a lot more than files of music. recording music was prolly only sometime in the 1900s but books have been made a long time before that
Also around the whole "everybody can do a shitty song on his computer" well yeah it's a real RECENT phenomomenon. like 10 years ago this barely existed , not to mention most people who do music only do music. Meanwhile a lot of books are published by people that aren't actual writers, like celebrities, politicians ... people with statute, money or power can just get their shitty books published if they want it, while not that many people do music if they aren't musicians themselves. also saying a lot of people do music when music is one the least accessible art when writing is taught at every stage of most national school system is just blowing up of proportions indie music. but again, it's a weird double standard to consider shitty mp3 done on your music software and not books by millions of people on their computer. even considering music streaming, i think books win.
phoenix bringing out movies and video games ost isn't the victory he thinks it is. we have screenplay for both video games and movies, and if you don't want to count them as books because not released to the public, well can i teach you about novelization? a lot of movies (and more rarely video games but it happens) are actually novelized (generally by the scenarist of said film but sometimes as a side product) so for a lot of these movies there's actually a book for it, which don't sell that much mind you, but since there aren't that many osts, these novelizations of movies just need around hundreds of sales to bypass the number of music. (not counting the sales of said osts but let's be real who buys that?)
Would say Team Music had a bit of an unfair chance against music since they were considering the number of singles of music (like individual songs) versus the number of copies of a single book (like the bible). By the logic of the number of copies of music as files (yes including CDs since if you put a CD into a computer, it shows FILES of the music, DRM not withstanding), every computer has some kind of music...same with phones, even old flip phones with their ringtone jingles. Steaming also does create a file on the downloader's end. You see a loading bar? You're downloading the file while at the same time it's playing, and when you've finished listening to the song it's automatically deleted. So teeeeeeechnically that's its own copy? Albeit briefly. At that point for digital music via FILE it should be something that you can have instant access to without needing the internet in order to just play it, like an MP3/WAV/OGG/etc. If we're talking *copies* of released books vs music, music has books beat. Singles (maybe including the different versions of the same thing like the Bible KJV/NKJV/NIV/etc as an example, but not like digital, hardback, paperback, leatherbound, etc)? Might be closer to 50/50
Hey, Do shops & restaurants v homes next, that would be really interesting to see. I'm in gujurat, and the amount of small, tightly packed businesses is INSANE.
The printing presses never stop working, they just move onto another book. Also what about manga/comics and light novels (for the weebs) both can exist in digital and physical.
With songs existing from approx 1400 BC and books existing from 500 BC, songs seems to be the winner BUT since we are only counting mp3s books are more likely the winner considering how if 1 mp3 existed of each song released after the invention of mp3s and mp3 players it still wouldn't come close to the combination of books sold to the last century Meaning books more likely win (I have 1% help) Edit:I was also about to make a point about religious books before halfway of the video (but my phone was 1%) and then when I continued EDGEWORTH MADE THE EXACT POINT I WAS ABOUT TO MAKE.

When you stream, I believe a slice of a music file is made on your computer, that keeps moving as the play head does to keep up, therefore streaming counts, but for every listen rather than every copy
I feel like phoenix and edgeworth could've had a much closer argument if they established the rules some more. A fair assessment of a book is written work with a cover and a back, created to preserve/share info to the public. Ex: novels, textbooks, etc. Non Ex: Diaries, notebooks. A fair assessment of music is a melody preserved in some shape or form to be learned or listened by someone else. Ex: sheet music, mp3s, records. Non Ex: whistling or humming a random tune. This would've made the argument much more close since both writing and music have been created and preserved around the same time. (The time of early humans from what I know.)

I love how Edgeworth just devolved into the insults of a joking child lol! I’m on Team Music personally because music is a very abstract concept that allows virtually any sound paired with instruments or vocals to be counted as music. And if Google can still count books and not music, it caaan mean there is way too much music. However it could also mean they haven’t gotten around to counting all the individual original songs/OSTs and all. OSTs have been a thing since around the 90s and 2000s so if you give or take another decade or so, there may be more music than books in the future. Also the “supply in demand” evidence is very wobbly due to the difficulty of exactly tracking demand for a product around the world. Can’t wait to see more silly debates!
Music wins because in very music heavy video games you need to actually have the files in your computer the have them play out in the actual software, so every time a game is downloaded (via any means) you get the entire soundtrack from it
