    So my grandpa was in WW2 in Europe fighting the Germans, and he said there were two main advantages that Americans had over the Germans. Obviously, the German weapons and tech had an edge over ours, but a couple of interesting disadvantages, which came into play in the late war, especially were that the Americans had full weapon cleaning kits for our infantry. In order to clean their rifles, the Germans had to have 4 men link their cleaning rods together to clean one rifle at a time. They had to take turns. Which doesn't sound all that crazy but it ended up being a weakness. The other was that the American infantryman was trained to live in the field while the German infantryman was trained to live in the barracks. Because of this, the Germans didn't do as well when it came to living for extended periods of time away from a solid roof over their heads, and they got demoralized because of it. Just some interesting tidbits I learned from a man who fought them.

      @atanasvasilev3228 I would agree with you, but they found the same issue everywhere they went. I wasn't meaning just at the Battle of the Buldge. My grandpa fought there, but he was also part of the Normandy invasion and went all the way through to the end without even getting to go back to England for a break. But he said the American infantryman being able to live in the field vs. living in just a barracks has always been an advantage even earlier in 1942 etc.

    Whoever programmed the Panzer 5 to be weaker than the Sherman needs to be fired. Panzers basically TORE Shermans apart in a head-on battle every time. Shermans needed either numbers or side-shots to get Panzers. It is why they were so feared by US forces. German tanks had FAR better armor than USA's. However, the USA firepower did tend to be a bit better than the German's.
    Out of all available forces... Japan had the weakest tanks, with arguments being made about USA and German tanks being the "best". The T-35, was a bit "weak" overall in direct comparison to other forces, but had the sheer NUMBERS to swarm enemy positions, which is why they had such a deadly impact on the war overall. They may lose 2-3 per tank vs tank battle... but when you are pumping out roughly 5-1 to 10-1 odds, the loss of 2-3 WAS viewed as "acceptable" to the Russian forces.

    To be fair, on a historical basis, the Americans would probably best the Japanese. Japan didn’t fight in WW1, America did. WW1 veterans probably had a hand in training the troops who fought in WW2. Experience matters.

      Japan was at war with China in 1937
      And had a war with russia in the early 20th century. They weren’t sitting around twiddling their thumbs.

      @@DirtnapJack Fair point. However, it is worth mentioning that China was not quite as developed technologically as Japan at the time and was also embroiled in a civil war that began before WW1 and didn't end until 1949.
      The war with Russia in 1904 was primarily a naval conflict. The Japanese had superior ships and Admiral Heihachiro Togo had spent 7 years studying naval tactics in Britain, who had the world's most powerful navy at the time. So, it's not surprising that they won relatively easily against czarist Russia.
      The point that I'm making here is that before WW2, Japan had never faced off with a nation that was their equal in both training and technology like the United States.

    Great battle, shame about the lack of animation on the tanks. Although all the new tanks seem pretty weird with their tracks not moving and their poor terrain hugging, I mean they seem to float everywhere. Unlike the good old Sherman.

    The American Trench Gun deadly in both worlds wars that the enemy wanted it outlawed and made in to a war crime. To always see shotguns killed so easily is heartbreaking

    • @MNM-lq9te
      @MNM-lq9te Рік тому

      They only outlawed it in ww1 not in ww2. it wasn't as useful in ww2 as it was in ww1.
      Lesser trench warfare and bigger scale with more combined warfare would make the trench gun useless in combat.

    Not surprised the Panthers died, in reality, the 75mm could pierce it's armor and it was notorious for it's weak engine, fragile drive train and unfavourable weight to footprint. The Japanese tanks were lightly armored and undergunned. The T34 was sufficient in numbers but used riveted armor which rendered it vulnerable. The Sherman gets a bad rap for having a high velocity 75mm main gun and welded, rolled homogeneous armor. Could the 88mm get through? Yeah, of course. But the Panthers kept breaking down and the flak guns got out maneuvered. The Tigers went mainly to the eastern front where they faired poorly at best, also being unreliable and difficult to fix and damn near impossible to recover. Hence a wall of Russian steel met up with American good enough and easy to fix. Not a cake walk but it was inevitable.
