If they live long enough to see it. It’s highly believed that if any historical figure is brought to the present day they would die within hours of getting here because of all the new bacteria.
The spartans in positions that cant be reached by the pathfinding, killed this. I enjoy this content, but everytime i see a group of 50 units sitting inches out of the battle just standing still, kills the vibe for me.
I’d like to see a mix of ranged and melee units in both armies.
Maybe an army of mostly weak ranged units with some strong melee units, vs an army of mostly week melee with some strong ranged units.
I was thinking the same thing. Its kind of crazy how far it went down the mountainside.

This is literally like watching sports. Awesome commentating too. I would've like to see more of the counter-attack ambush from the Spartans jumping down the cliff, that was real cool to see. It would've been cool to see how it panned out until the end of their fight.
The kill ratio was roughly 10:1. Just with that alone, the 30k remaining Spartans stood no chance against the remaining 4.5M Persians. Nice attempt, and too bad we couldn't see the last stand, but too many units on the field for your computer to handle, I think.
Yeah but further up the mountain is a better choke point for the Spartans plus then the thousands of archers could start opening up fire, I think if the Persians made it that far up, progress would’ve been extremely slow at that point for them and the Spartans would’ve started seeing a K/D closer to 30-40+ to 1
@@TheJerseyNinja Probably, but even with 40:1, 30k could only kill 1.2M, which still isn't good enough by far.

It realistically could go even higher because the archers can just rain arrows down while the Spartans below hold them off and there’s nothing the Persians could do. I could actually see them winning it if they were able to get enough archers firing at the same time
@@TheJerseyNinja I don't know. I think 40:1 is more than generous. It's a very sheer cliff, so only the archers on the edge could get a good line of sight.
Imagine if the bodies rolling down the hill had rigid bodies that interacted with units on the field. I.e. knocking them back or killing them.
Then nature takes it's course

Persians would be one of the best to attack mount Olympus if it was the real world... Because they were mainly archers and you know how would that go...
Seems that about any melee unit ordered to 'hold' in this game is doomed, since they will literally just hold in place as their lines are slowly but steadily whittled away.
next time you should send a few battalions down to when the persians are charging at them so then they clash somewhere in the mountains
From all the vids ive watched. It seems the forces that have been set to just stand their ground and not move, dont fight as well as the forces that can move. Honestly in a map like this, with the stationary forces all set up in random ledges on the map. I think its better if you set them all to attack and move.
I would honestly love to see a part 2 of this, and maybe a repeat of this battle once the kinks are more worked out
i dont have the game but if there is an option to delete stuck units on the inaccessible hills then that might get the AI to reprioritize to go for what they can actually reach.
13:42 I disagree. The Spartans have lost well over half of their troops, while the Persians haven't even lost one-sixth of theirs. Awesome battle though! Thanks for putting it on. Gotta love all that beautiful red blood trickling down the mountainside.

Daley! Make a video where you have archers with max range on top of mount Olympus. That way we can watch a rain storm of arrows falling from mount Olympus as the enemy charges up from below.
Aye, with a Persian force that large aiming seems a touch unnecessary, just loose your arrow in the general direction of them, and you'll hit somebody.
Do a gaint battle with the Spartans defending a fort but also give the Spartans archers
You have to get all of the spartans that are on the hill sides off otherwise the enemy tries to attack the closest target and they stall out
I did 4 full auto Sherman's against 2 million trolls and zombies, the flying bodies and lakes of blood by the end of the round was insane.
Full automatic Sherman on top of the mountain vs 6 million zombies would be pretty chaotic 😂
Ares would be having the time of his life with this.

I like this battle but the archers with about 5k to 10k trolls vs that many Persians would be a cool fight on this board

I love these videos so much. Can you do a time stamp? I think having one of those would give a true depth to how long these battles take after all the FF/editing and what-have-you.
Once this has the workshop up, we can actually have the final battle in Return of the King.
They should bring back the fast forward button because it does help a lot with the large scale battles.

Have you thought about just setting the Spartans units that are not on the pathways, to attack so that they the seek the enemy or fall to there death? Would feel realistically plausible that the armies out side of the defences would openly attack the attackers?
Yeah I don't like his static tendencies towards the defense. Kinda kills the whole interest for me
This battle needed a little more TLC on manipulating the AI and units out of unreachable areas.

First comment. You are my favorite EBS channel. It's your commnentary. Most just stay silent. I agree with calling it for the Spartans because Persians chickened out. At current number of soldiers vs frequency of deaths the Persians end up winning easily.
So the next step is planetary scale battles once Continental landscapes can be scaled 🤔 very interesting to watch these simulations 🙂 I can imagine plenty upgrades and add-ons for this game 💁🏾♂️ perhaps follow the frameworks of historical civilizations and use them as templates even to create your own and unit variants. Envision the picture of a whole legion of future horrors like robots, androids, cyborg, and energy weapons that would make the earth shake... intense!

Odd mechanic I'd love to see is a small randomised amount of damage to troops from a falling body.
I would like to see people mix up the components with some respect to how people would approach the situation. Both sides would have archers, the attackers might want theirs in the back. The defenders might put their archers in the front. Siege weapons? Maybe a little bit of cavalry. This could get interesting.
So for recording I know you can have like another computer hooked up and one is like your storage for when your recording and doing editing etc while the other runs the game. Not sure how to do it but many content creators that get bigger start doing it cause of the ease

The spartans actually wore very heavy full-body armour and the persians only wore wicker armour (!) so the gane isn't really historically accurate.
On the other hand, who cares? It's still one awesome game

Persians wanted to renegotiate their union contract after facing, and losing so many troops to the Spartan army.

If your gonna do battles with these kinds of numbers could you make so they are killing each other faster by doing a more open Battle? Because the battles kind of feel long winded and nothing much is happening by the midpoint of the video if you do this mountain map again I think less is sometimes more and instead of the big group of Spartans there would be smaller groups of them and maybe a few groups on free move to keep the battle going also by doing this troops would not spawn on the inaccessible parts of the mountain as often
I wish people doing these videos would be a bit more creative than just putting millions of one troop type against another.

Would have been far better if the Spartans had been set to the aggressive guard mode instead of the passive hold mode. The battle would not have stalled and you wouldn't have had to use RTS mode.
