Oh my goodness, WHAT A FANTASTIC VIDEO!!! At first, I thought you had a drone! Those views! I've been flying through Bristol airport and driving through the gorge for a whopping 23 years and we've never ever done this walk. EVER. I really really want to do this. I see there were some kids in the film so wondering what my chances are of getting E up there! I know we'd get as far at the Cheddar shop!! Also just loved the bluebell woods, and the descent into the village. Also I see they've now got signs in KM (not just miles!) Thanks so much for making this video. It's given me a whole different view of the area I never would've known about had it not been for South West Sundays! Definitely one for the bucket list!
Thanks Alex! Yes, the views are just so spectacular! I hope you get the chance to stop at the gorge sometime when you drive through to stretch your legs after a flight! I did not include the clip in the video but I think it’s advisable to take snacks or a picnic or at least a drink on the walk! I took nothing and regretted it! I hope E goes up there too! Lots of kids were doing the walk! The Cheddar shop is so good! Oh yes, I had not thought about the signs having KMs aswell as miles. That’s so good with all the international tourists that flock to Cheddar. Thanks so much for this great comment Alex!
Thanks for taking me on a walk while I am laid up for a while… I haven’t been to cheddar in a long long time and certainly can’t remember a lookout tower, that’s impressive.. I’ve never heard of Somerset day on May 11th either so that was interesting, as for walking boots over trainers.. give me trainers everyday.. I can’t stand walking boots 🤣🤣👍🏻 thanks for sharing
Thanks so much!! I hope you recover soon and can soon get out and about! Yes, the lookout tower was great - extra icing on the cake of the walk! I love having Somerset Day! It reminds me of all the wonderful things there are to celebrate about Somerset. The trainers were a lot comfier than my walking boots for sure! Thanks so much for watching and commenting!
Thank you Cathy! Oh nice! It’s a really awesome drive through there isn’t it? It’s also really nice to cycle through. I think this has to be one of my favourite walks in Somerset.
It seems no time ago that you said you had 567 subscribers & now it is 678! That walk was an absolute wow & fantastic views, but no so easy underfoot in places. Great job Louise.
Hu Faith, yes, I was just thinking that about the subscriber count too!! I love numbers like that!! 🤣 The subscriber numbers are shooting up fast at the moment. Next stop 789 🤗 It really has the wow factor doesn’t it? Yes, it’s quite nobbly underfoot in places. I definitely had to watch my step!
Gorgeous walk Louise, I don't think I've ever ventured onto the sides of the gorge - only ever driven through it with my family years ago or stopped to look at the bottom of the Jacob's Ladder. Must make some time to visit again soon, thanks for taking us with you 😃
Thanks Jesse! Until fairly recently that was my experience too, I had not realised about the lovely walks around there. Hope you can get to explore it soon too. Such a lovely environment to walk in.
Louise this was fantastic. We haven’t been for around 25 years so it is firmly on the to do list. Stunning views and your info was great. Thank you so much for taking us with you. An absolute pleasure to watch. Best wishes. Watto & Kim 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️
Hi Louise! The views of the gorge were amazing - it looks like a very enjoyable walk. I think lumpy-bumpy is my new favorite phrase for a rock-filled path!
Thanks so much Donna!! I agree! They are really stunning views. That’s fab to know that your new phrase for a rock filled path will also be ‘Lumpy Bumpy’.
That was tremendous Louise! A great celebration of Somerset Day - and happy Somerset Day to you! I loved that music 🎶 that you used in it. It really set the mood. Fantastic views over the gorge. What a walk! Although I have been to Cheddar village and the caves I have not done this walk nor seen the tower either. Really enjoy this. Great stuff 👍 Cheers Paul 😊
Thanks so much Paul! I really like the music too! It was a real pleasure to edit to! It’s amazing how music can set the mood for a video! There is so much to see in Cheddar but I think this walk is my favourite thing there. I hope you get the opportunity to do it some time. Happy Somerset Day to you too!
Love this place, not far from me must go there more often but the crowds put me off. Parking can be tricky in summer. You sometimes get boy racers whizzing up and down there. The views are amazing though
Thank you Shirley! Yes, it gets quite busy doesn’t it, particularly in the village. I have not really visited in the summer but I can imagine the parking must get tricky then. It was super busy last Sunday. There were lots of motor bikes roaring through the gorge that day. 100s of them and many stopped off in Cheddar for ice creams! Must have been some sort of ride out. I agree - the views really are amazing!
I'm so jealous that you were able to do this lovely walk! I was disappointed that we didn't have time!! What a beautiful video. I especially love the goats! 🐐 😊 Well done Louise!👍
Thanks so much Dara! Oh, I hope you get another opportunity to return to Cheddar and do that walk. I saw a few other walks while I was there that I really hope to do too. Aww! Yes, the goats are so lovely!
We were there yesterday, a fabulous walk. The views were amazing, weather was on our side and it was really clear. Fantastic video, thank you, subscribed.
Great video! I’m off there in a couple of weeks time and will be doing the same walk😊
Thank you! Oh nice!! I hope you really enjoy it as much as I did! It’s so spectacular!

Thanks so much Amanda!
Great walk Louise. 🙂. We did the drive through years ago so it is really good to see the walk up to the top and the beautiful views. 🙂

Thank you Caroline! Happy Somerset Day to you too!
That was beautiful, makes me sad mind as I remember how I miss it so much. I love cheddar,, hope I can get back one day.
Thank you Andrew!
It really is so beautiful there. I hope you get an opportunity to visit again sometime. 🤗

We picked up some cheese in the cheese shop. So yummy!!
It’s so good! I love the cave aged Cheddar!
@@SouthWestSundays I saw it in the cave maturing at Wooky Hole. 😊

Oh brilliant! It’s such a lovely walk! Thank you for subscribing! Welcome to South West Sundays 🤗 Louise
Looks fantastic we have been before but never done the walk we go next week stopping at Cheddar woods definitely do this 👍
Ah brilliant!! I hope you really enjoy it!
Oh an added bonus that you got to see bluebells! 💙
I'm waiting for the BFG to launch himself over the gorge 🤣
Haha 🤣
Brilliant!
How long did it take you to do the walk (up and down)? 🙂
Wait a minute... do you have a magenta backpack???
I do 🤗💕💕
@@SouthWestSundays then we are destined to be friends 💕
Hi Louise, thanks for making the video! Did you have to pay to walk down Jacob's ladder? 🙂
Thank you! My pleasure! No, there was no charge to walk down Jacob’s Ladder.
You know the walk is too treacherous when people are having to carry their dogs!😮
But.... did you eat CHEESE??? 🧀 You hinted that you might 😉
I did 🤗
@@SouthWestSundays I'm a HUGE cheese fan 🩷🧀
