Up in Eskdale last week and had a walk planned to reach Silverybield Crag. The plan was to snap views of Scafell Pike, Bowfell and the rest of the Langdale fells. All went well until the rain POURED down. In fact it p*ss*d it down. The clag was down and with our plans in tatters, we decided to retreat back to the cottage and a hot drink. On the way down, I thought about the times when you've been out in foul conditions with a coat that wasn't as waterproof as you wanted it to be. You still managed to come back with a decent vlog an dimages that anyone would be more than chuffed with. You're a star James.
I'm enjoying this project, I think it's far more interesting, and far more challenging, than shooting beautiful natural landscapes in the Lake District or Peak District. I like that this is both documentary photography, and also fine art. 👍
Very good, some really interesting locations there with the old mills. Weren't you tempted to go monochrome on some of these ? Really enjoying this group of videos , thank you.
Cheers Paul. Lots of interesting and history. I set the stall out from the beginning of this Bradford project that it would all be in colour. I’ll probably go out next time with the intention to add to the b n w project 👍👍
Aye aye James, your projects seem to be coming along nicely it’s great to see you adding another string to your bow and I genuinely believe it will be something moving forward that we will see a lot more of … I’m waiting for the London trip 😊
Smaller steps. Leeds is on the horizon though . I’m really enjoying adding to the project and as time goes along and the collection grows, I’ll be able to be more selective and revisit compositions where needed. Cheers Barry 👍👍
Hi Jim. I always find it a challenge in an urban / city environment to capture the obvious landmarks from a less obvious perspective. It’s something I have grown accustomed to in Dubai where photographing people can culturally be an issue. So I have had to focus more on the environment and architecture rather than classic people centered street photography. I have found black and white / monochrome to be very helpful as I concentrate on light and shadow and areas of contrast. Protect the highlights and embrace the shadows to quote Sean Tucker. Any road enjoying the vlogs and all the very best from the desert. Steve. Dubai.
I bet Dubai is marvellous for the light shadows but I don’t get the impression it has any Victorian buildings😬 Sure photographing people is a bit tricky as well. Should make an interesting project. Cheers Steve as always, take care for now 👍👍
Another great video James, glad to see you’re enjoying your Street Photography, if only more Landscape Photographers would give it a go, for more than an hour or two too, they too may find out it’s not just snapping away at people crossing the street as most seem to think.
This is very true Brian. I’ve found it a good idea to create different collections to cover the sub genres of urban. I’m yet to really add to the street collection. Thank you 👍👍
@@JamesRBurnsVLOG I’ve gone the other way and been doing a little landscape, to be truthful though I’ve not done much of anything with my camera lately, need to get my head in the game again
Really liked this video. Read the blurb on the Urban Life section of your website. Are you sure you want to be using the word Animosity? Perhaps you meant anonymity
Why can’t they build like the Victorians used to, some great old buildings in Oldham that the council are doing their best to raise to the ground. Don’t know why I’m moaning I don’t even live there anymore. It takes some getting used to seeing you walking around all urban like. Cheers James enjoyed it.
Moan away Michael. I once went to Oldham…when I took a wrong turn! It taking me some time to be honest, especially the moving environment. Cheers and take care 👍👍

It’s going well bud, more brilliantly observed images. You make me want to shoot more around my beloved Gt Yarmouth!!
Cheers Jon. You should do it, you’ll enjoy it and be interesting to see how things change over the years 👍👍
Keep it going 📷👌
Cheers Eltin, will do 👍👍

😁Whoops! I’ll get on to it. Cheers Steve. Glad you enjoyed the video. 👍👍
You seem to have a fair amount of colour work in there James, but hey it's good to get a balance.
This is my Bradford project where I’ve purposely stuck to colour. It’s more of a documentary approach
