I would have redone everything prior to putting it in. New timing belt, water pump, gaskets, have the head resurfaced, etc. I feel everyone new to the E30 community jumps on the swap wagon. M20 is great engine.
M60/m62 swaps are also a good option. They sound so sexy and drive really good. + theyre light. Almost the same weight as the m20 I think like 50lbs difference . So pretty much same as a turbo kit.
