Great Car, and back story! Funny to me because my Father caught me by marking the tire with chalk and knew when I took it out for a spin at 13 and ge also gave me the keys with no license and said just take it easy..... we had great times back in the day that most won't ever have again! Thanks Lou for another Great Vehicle with a wonderful story and a trip back to better days!!

Another winner, Lou! The sound and looks of those late 50's GM V-8 engines is freaking fantastic! Thanks to you and this gentleman, we get to hear and see them!!
The old Balzekas Chrysler Plymouth dealership on Archer Ave! Stanley, the son of the founder, is still around, although now elderly. I grew up in that neighborhood and the dealership was an anchor for decades on a busy business strip. Huge neon signs on the building and another across the street on the used car lot. Looked spectacular at night. Great car, nice owner and good video. Thanks, Lou!
I love PONTIAC Bonnevilles. I worked for GENERAL MOTORS South Gate assembly plant, that was closed and tore down but, I got in trouble burning the 455cu off the line to park them. My Dad owned a 59 Bonney and it would cruise at 110mph on wide open freeways. Just loved the PONTIAC BONNEVILLE POWERFUL CAR and comfortable in cross country drives. BUY AMERICAN CARS THEY GOT THE MESSAGE TO DOWN SIZE AND BE THE BEST FOR YOUR MONEY.
Been there, done that. But I was 16 years old and I had keys to all the cars. Just remembered I did get caught . Driving a 67 Jag 420 SS . I was doing 95 in a 35. Just so people will not think I'm insane it was still 35 mph but it was quite few miles out of town nothing around you but Grapes. The Officer was kind enough to make it 85 in 35 zone. Otherwise he would have had to take me to Jail. Fine was $25.00. The next ticket was less speed and a much HIGHER fine.
Bucket seats were virtually unheard of in an American cruiser, so this was a new super-premium feature. Being in the top of the line Bonneville made a statement. Within 5 or 6 years buckets were the rage. Witness the G-T-O's etc. Beautiful car, great video!!
Lou what a beautiful Pontiac! Pontiacs were always my most favorite general motors car. Sad they are no more. Love the rag top and the two tone paint. I like it with out the continental kit better. Of course I am partial to anything 1958 as I was born that year. Thanks for sharing Lou Andi love the owner too a great guy!!
With all due respect to the '59 Pontiac, I think this is even better. Really striking! And that dash...wow. Love the deep, wide scoop along the rear quarters!

the entire '58 GM line, long maligned by many, is my favorite, the Bonnie is the epitome. they are everything that you can no longer get...style, bling, size, weight, power. It was the last year for Harley Earl styling, and his team went all out...the most chrome and stainless brightwork on any American car line...Harley believed that that was what Americans wanted. SWEET ride Lou! The 1958 Bonneville most definitely had the LOOK and STYLE of class! And just sitting still, it looked like it was running an 100 mph. It just looked fast! And it was fast! In 1960 my Dad was shopping for a car to replace that old, green 1950 Plymouth we had. One saturday morning he drives up in a white with red interior, 1960 Pontiac Bonneville Convertible, I fell in love with that car immediately! And I thought he'd bought that car. Only to find out that he hadn't a few minutes later that he was just test driving cars. It was such an upgrade from what we had too that I just knew he was going to buy that one. A little while later he drives up in this UGLY brownish/gold-toned body with a white top, 1960 Pontiac Ventura, hardtop, with a brown interior. I remember thinking to myself, "I hope he doesn't buy that ugly, ole car." He leaves again and is gone for about 2 hrs. Upon his return he comes in the front door and says, "Come see the new car I just bought!" Hoping with all my heart that it was that BEAUTIFUL white Bonneville ... but instead, it was that UGLY ole Ventura he'd brought home before! Needless to say that I was very disappointed. And they drove that UGLY, ole Ventura until 1986 when he replaced it with an blue body - blue interior, with a black vinyl top - 1986 Buick Electra Park Avenue. He passed in 1989 at 62, and my Mother drove that car until she was 89 yrs old. I stopped her from driving it because, she was just too old to be on the road and drive safely. She had a Pacemaker, and was legally blind in one eye. But she kept passing the driving test every two years to get her drivers license? Go figure! But when I found out that she couldn't tell what color the traffic lights were that was it for me. I figured I did everyone a favor by taking her off the streets, lol. I still have that car, as I inherited it in 2018' when she passed away.
How disappointing for you Namedrop...and to have that old Ventura for over 20 years...I'd be in therapy if that happened to me especially after the Bonneville convertible was the first in the driveway.
namesdrop....Your Dad like mine probably thought the Ventura made more economic sense. I remember my Dad saying "That car is to rich for my blood" when one of the neighbors would drive down the street in a flashy new car like a Cadillac or Lincoln.
@@gtpcruiser02 - I am sure that you hit the 'nail on the head' with the 'made more sense economically' to buy the Ventura over the Bonneville, as he'd just started working for a subsidiary of Wise Foods (Potato Chips) that was a Brand New Company at the time here in NC at the time. Had he known in less than 5 yrs he'd be the Vice president in charge of Sales he might have bought the Bonneville instead. But that ole Ventura served its purpose, and it was still running perfectly when he sold it to a neighbor for $200 that was in need of another vehicle. What had he already bought to replace that car? Another honkingly big, 1972 Buick Centurion with a 455cu -4bbl. And that was a great car as well. Rode like a dream! Was only rated at 210hp though. But it would smoke the tires! Ask me how I know, lol.
That's a Bad Bonnie! The four place bucket seats make the interior as unique as the exterior and I like that he has seat belts front and rear. Pontiac only offered buckets on the convertible for '58. The '58 T-Bird had them standard up front, but used a full back seat upholstered to look like buckets like other manufacturers. You always do a fantastic job of focusing on the dashboards. The behind the wheel vantage point is worth tuning in and tha Speed Reminder is cool. Thanks for posting.
I would like to be the next owner of that Bonneville. ☺ I even have a high dollar high detail diecast that is the exact copy of that car black and silver convert. my 58 pontiac was sky blue and white inset blue two tone interior star chief. love them pontiac's. 👍 bought it when I was 15 .
I have a 1968 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Holiday Coupe and some neighborhood kids were walking by when I was doing some maintenance on it and they asked what kind of car is that. They never heard of Oldsmobile or Cutlass. I told them to find an old car and fix it up and to cherish and preserve some history. They just looked at me like I just escaped from the insane asylum. So much for history.
In 1961, my Dad test drove a 57 Bonneville convertible offered for sale by a local Dodge dealer (I was along for the ride). Just repainted, looked great. Price, as I recall, was only $1100. On the drive, Dad gave it full throttle a couple of times. I was too young to know the difference, but Dad said, this isn't right. Got back to the dealership and popped the hood. Instead of the fuel injected motor it was supposed to have, there was a lonely two barrel carb (with no air cleaner). He passed.
@@keithhalpern8099 428 came out in 1967. it was only a 3 year engine. 67, 68, and 69. mine had a limited slip and would roast the tires forever, with one person or 6 inside 👍

The details on the trim is about the fanciest I've ever seen but then that was the hallmark of all the GM top of the line models in 1958. It works well on this sporty Pontiac.
Weber carbs were an aftermarket set up. From Pontiac, original tri-power was 3-2 bbl Rochester carbs made by General Motors. The center carb was slightly smaller and was the primary carb. The two end carbs were slightly larger and came into use at about three quarter open throttle. This setup was used until 1965 when the center carb was changed to have the same cfm as the end carbs.
I love 1958, anything, especially GMs, with all of their gadgets, styling , well, everything! It's just beautiful! Thanks for bringing us these cool cars! BTW, I subscribed.
Listening to those stories abt cop's getting him at age 16 reminds me of my young driving career!! My first speeding ticket at age 17 was 127mph on a new year's eve ! On interstate I -75 big long straight away could see for miles eather way dam cop was behind patch of trees in the middle between the North and South bound lanes!!! Lost my driver's license for six months!!!
Great car So similar to the '58 impala. Gm . Style. Always pleasing to the eye I personally like this style '58 Pontiac. In 4 door . My uncle had the 4 Dr. Blue ...all trimmed out. ...what a beauty 😊
GREAT! A buddy had a Pontiac convertible with bucket seats in the early 60's and I've been trying to figure out what year it was.... now I know. Thanks
Another great video love your channel. I have never seen one in a convertible. I have only seen one so far in my life and it was a 2 door hardtop and it had the same engine setup except the owner told me that it was converted to the three carburetor system at the dealership when new and not the way from the factory. They must be rare cars.

I love the 1957-58 Bonneville. The fuel injected 57 Bonneville's were the first real performance cars ever made by Pontiac and also one of the fastest cars you could buy in 1957. I love the 58 Tri Power Bonneville's too. I believe they still offered fuel injection in 58 but they are extremely rare because the late 50's fuel injection wasn't very reliable and many injected cars got switched back to carbureted induction
Yes, the Pontiacs in the early 50s were being bought by Aunt Bea and her demographic. GM had new leadership, hired John DeLorean to make changes at Pontiac and youre looking at his mid-mgmt. skills. He shot to the top of the hierarchy. He was a true visionary.
A little bit of info on the washer bottle at 10:00. Early builds had the washer in front of the core support and late builds had it behind. That is per the factory repair manual.

@@DJ-365 My first car was a '73 Pontiac Grand Prix. I remember that, although the car had been constructed like a tank, they built the front end out of plastic....or fiberglass. Even with its 400 engine and 4 barrel carburetor, the car was never too impressive to me.
As a follow up, Weber 2bbl carbs are not a direct fit on a stock Pontiac manifold. Also the bolt pattern is different from the Rochester 2bbl carbs and an adapter is required. If you look closely there is nothing changed under the hood of the Pontiac. I find it hard to believe he would opt for a much pricer carb change and not up grade anything else. All in all and no matter what is or not is on the car it is a clean survivor and pretty rare. Myself I owned a 58 Pontiac Starchief 2dr coupe that was stick shift.
Very nice car! Be careful when going over 100 mph. I was driving a 58 poncho back in the late sixties and the hood blew up against the winshield.there was no safety latch on the hoods back in the day. 😂
I can't believe younger people aren't aware of Pontiac. It's only been 10 years that GM stopped building Pontiac. They must be aware of Firebird Trans Am and Grand Prix.
@@gtpcruiser02 I dont know... Young people today aren't like when we were young people. They more admire a $1000 cell phone than something with seats and a steering wheel methinks....
Another reason younger people aren't aware of Pontiac is the stigma attached to American vehicles especially General Motors because they received GOVERNMENT LOANS......NOT BAILOUTS as the lying media wanted you to believe because I worked for GM. Younger Americans naturally assume Japanese, Korean and German vehicles are better. They were at better in the past but domestics are radically improved over the last decade or so. Chrysler which is merged with Damiler Mercedes also received Government Loans which both companies paid back. I noticed younger people are really into Dodge vehicles probably because the Charger, Challenger Hellcat models are so popular.

Hi solemandd67, Happy to read you enjoy this "Bad Bonnie!" :-) You're welcome, Lou
I love that color black and white I love these old automobiles I loved pontiac
Hi blue4uable, Happy to read you "love" these old automobiles :-) You're on the right UA-cam Channel and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Les, the speed demon.😆👏The “rocket” concave side moldings on the ‘58 Pontiac’s were magnificent.🤗And bucket seats!
Hi Ramon, Happy to read you enjoy Les' story :-) Glad to read you enjoy the car too, Lou
I would like to be the next owner of that Bonneville. ☺
I even have a high dollar high detail diecast that is the exact copy of that car black and silver convert. my 58 pontiac was sky blue and white inset blue two tone interior star chief. love them pontiac's. 👍 bought it when I was 15 .
Hi D Owen, Happy to read you "love them Pontiac's" :-) Hope you're behind the wheel of one like this soon, Lou
Lou Costabile
yeah me too👍 behind the wheel would be better than under the wheel. 😂 .
Hi David Collis, We'll if we keep sharing with them, hopefully it will stick with some of them :-) Lou
He passed.
Hi herman452, Happy to read this video brings memories of your Dad's test drive of the 57 Bonneville :-) Lou
One year later, Wide Track Pontiac debuted in 59.
Hi Glenn Zevallos, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
Work of art on wheels.
You can put a few bodies in that trunk.
Another beautiful vehicle Lou thanks.
My pleasure sharing with you Gary :-)
Congratulation yo Lou. I miss my old Buick Riviera 1958. But happy for Lou.
Hi DPG2203, Glad to read this video brings back memories of your 1958 Buick :-) It's Les's car, however I'm happy to video and share with you, Lou
this is when they made cars. very nice car Lou. I had a 69 2 door Bonneville, 428. these Bonnevilles were great cars👍
Hi Kurt Zimmerman, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
I believe that the 69 Bonneville was a 421.
@@keithhalpern8099 428 came out in 1967. it was only a 3 year engine. 67, 68, and 69. mine had a limited slip and would roast the tires forever, with one person or 6 inside 👍
I'm in my 70's and I've never seen a vintage Pontiac with bucket seats. It must be extremely rare! Thanks for showing this car!

Great cars on your channel. My Dad was a mechanic at a Pontiac dealer and worked on those cars including 347 and 370s with Rochester fuel injection.😀
Glad to read you're enjoying the cars on the Channel, and I'm having fun sharing them with you :-)
The details on the trim is about the fanciest I've ever seen but then that was the hallmark of all the GM top of the line models in 1958. It works well on this sporty Pontiac.
Hi chriscalvin100, Glad to read you enjoy the details on this car :-) Lou
Weber carbs were an aftermarket set up. From Pontiac, original tri-power was 3-2 bbl Rochester carbs made by General Motors. The center carb was slightly smaller and was the primary carb. The two end carbs were slightly larger and came into use at about three quarter open throttle. This setup was used until 1965 when the center carb was changed to have the same cfm as the end carbs.
Hi Bob King, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou

Hi 15 DurangoRT, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Lou
Listening to those stories abt cop's getting him at age 16 reminds me of my young driving career!! My first speeding ticket at age 17 was 127mph on a new year's eve ! On interstate I -75 big long straight away could see for miles eather way dam cop was behind patch of trees in the middle between the North and South bound lanes!!! Lost my driver's license for six months!!!
Hi Scotty Jones, Ahhh those Teenage memories :-) Lou
Stunning car Lou!
Glad to read you enjoy the looks of this car Duececoupe :-)
Great car
So similar to the '58 impala.
Gm . Style. Always pleasing to the eye
I personally like this style '58 Pontiac. In 4 door .
My uncle had the 4 Dr. Blue ...all trimmed out. ...what a beauty 😊

Hi Mike, Happy to read you enjoy this car and the story too :-) You're welcome, Lou
That's one classy convertible, owned by one super classy guy, I'll say!!!!
High praise for the Classy Car & Care Taker :-)
Yet another orphan winner! 👍. So interesting bucket seats. Only downside was so many of these older drop tops didn't have power windows...
Hi X K, Happy to read you consider this car a Winner :-) Lou
Very cool. My Grandparents had a red & white one. I don't know if it had the 3 2-barrel carbs, but it had plenty of power - especially for 1958.
Hi joltinjack, Happy to read this one brings back memories of your Grandparents car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
GREAT! A buddy had a Pontiac convertible with bucket seats in the early 60's and I've been trying to figure out what year it was.... now I know. Thanks
Hi BartRicky, That is awesome this video helps answer that questions :-) You're welcome, Lou
Another great video love your channel. I have never seen one in a convertible. I have only seen one so far in my life and it was a 2 door hardtop and it had the same engine setup except the owner told me that it was converted to the three carburetor system at the dealership when new and not the way from the factory. They must be rare cars.
Hi PlymouthDuster 225, High praise for this car and this episode :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing you're enjoying the Channel. I appreciate that, Lou
Pontiac has always been a cut above Chevrolet , in my opinion . GM made a mistake shutting that division down .
Hi Bud Lee, Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
I agree totally....love that mix of muscle, and luxury!
Back then the hierarchy from top to bottom price and quality wise was Cadillac, Buick, Oldsmobile, Pontiac, and lastly the lonely Chevrolet.
True but GM just didn't have the money to differentiate them since the late '70s.
Miss Pontiac! It was all about performance, muscle, excitement and so much more! Wish there was a way of bringing it back! This Bonneville is fabulous!
Thanks Lou all l can it's a beauty thanks for sharing
HI Francis Potter, Happy to read you enjoy the looks of this car :-) Thank you for viewing, sharing a wonderful comment, and you're welcome, Lou

Thank you Lou. You schoww us the Pontiac Bonneville as the wonderful that it is. Please, I am loocking for an Edsel 1958 .Horacio, (Argentina ).

thanks Lou purrs like a kitten love the tri power thanks for your service GS out
Hi George Shadrick, Happy to read you enjoy the sounds of this car :-) You're welcome, Lou
Hi Jeremy Thompson, Happy to read this is one you love :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge too, Lou
The engine sounds cool man
Happy to read you enjoy the sounds from this car :-)
Be still my racing heart! Beautiful!
Nice :-)
A little bit of info on the washer bottle at 10:00. Early builds had the washer in front of the core support and late builds had it behind. That is per the factory repair manual.

Awesome Bonney Lou! Love these vintage Pontiacs!
Hi William Colella, High praise for this car :-) Lou
In other models this seat combination was called,2+2 and usually reserved for the sports or super sports line.
Thank you for viewing and sharing that info.
These were still around when I was a kid growing up in the 60's. Mostly the hardtops as I remember. Beautiful machines nonetheless. 😍👍🏻
Hi George B, Happy to share this beauty with you :-) Lou
Well Lou, All i Have to Say is Les has more..... LOL......... AWESOME CAR... i am a Major Pontiac guy, i had a 73' Grand Prix, a 74' Grand Prix and a 76' Grand Prix, and you don't See any at Car shows in the Detroit area if you do its Rare... Pontiac's Rule..

My first car was a '73 Pontiac Grand Prix.
I remember that, although the car had been constructed like a tank, they built the front end out of plastic....or fiberglass.
Even with its 400 engine and 4 barrel carburetor, the car was never too impressive to me.
Chief Pontiac of the Ottawa Indians may well have approved .
Nice :-)
Nice, very complete car. The bucket seats are really cool. Personally, I think '50's cars look a whole lot better without the continental kit.
Hi Freedomquest08, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
As a follow up, Weber 2bbl carbs are not a direct fit on a stock Pontiac manifold. Also the bolt pattern is different from the Rochester 2bbl carbs and an adapter is required. If you look closely there is nothing changed under the hood of the Pontiac. I find it hard to believe he would opt for a much pricer carb change and not up grade anything else. All in all and no matter what is or not is on the car it is a clean survivor and pretty rare. Myself I owned a 58 Pontiac Starchief 2dr coupe that was stick shift.
Hi Edward Berwind, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge, Lou
Very nice car! Be careful when going over 100 mph. I was driving a 58 poncho back in the late sixties and the hood blew up against the winshield.there was no safety latch on the hoods back in the day. 😂
Thanks for sharing that tip.
cool car!
Glad to read you enjoy this one :-)
Story and great car I love that one as a special place for my me as well my uncle had one exactly the same well near Enough exactly the same
Hi AJSmith, Happy to read this car brings back memories of your Uncles car :-) Thank you for viewing and sharing, Lou
People don't know about Pontiac? I guess that is going to be more and more true as time moves forward.
Hopefully this video will help remind them about Pontiac's :-)
I have something even more rare, a plastic model of this car. Love the boat horn.
Hi James Schultz, Thank you for viewing and sharing your cool model car, Lou

Hi guardian08527, Happy to read this ones at the top 5 :-) Lou
Those license plates really threw me off! I was hoping this beauty didn’t have an LS6 under the hood. Good to see it’s done original!

I believe another nice feature was the trunk light was on a reel and could be pulled out to sit near a flat tire that was changed at night.
You're right, that is a nice feature. Nice attention to details john dangler, Lou
