I'm buying a home that has an established DF garden of 30 varieties across five colors. No experience with DF, so your educational Facebook, Instagram, and UA-cam sites are so informative.
Make a video of 2 equal sized cuttings dried out planted at the same time same soil. With one use the tea and the other just use water in 3 months you will have an amazing video. I had cuttings just rooted branches for months one ewc tea. Within 2 weeks 4 out of 5 put off new shoots. Thats a video people need to see.
Binged watching your vids. DF are just too expensive but it's my favorite fruit so here I am researching how to grow DFs. Your channel is a life saver!
Thanks for watching my videos! That is the exact reason why I started to grow Dragon Fruits. It was too expensive and it got me into growing my own to please my cravings! I hope you start growing some soon and get hooked into this addiction like me! :)
Grafting Dragon Fruit hey man, purely out of curiosity, I was wondering if you ever considered growing other fruits to “please ur cravings”. Personally, in addition to growing dragon fruits (with the help of ur videos of course) I’ll be growing some of my other favorite fruits too. Which makes me curious, what are some of ur favorite fruits? If u don’t mind me asking.
Hi Richard. I just wanted you to know, ever since I started watching your videos and using the Flora Bloom and Flora Grow on my dragons, I am now getting buds on my DF trees for the very first time!!!! I have the same DF plants for the past 5 years and FINALLY, there are buds!!!!! I will hand pollinate once they bloom and pray for me, I will get fruits. Super excited! Thank you for putting out really awesome content and really helpful and to the point tips and videos! Thank you and keep up the good work.
Hi Lan! Reading this message made me so happy! I have such a big smile on my face because I can feel your enthusiasm while reading this comment. I am so glad that your DF plant finally gave you buds! Congrats!!!! It feels great to hear your success and I'm very excited for you. I wish nothing but success and your DF to bear fruit for you so you can finally enjoy and fall in love with caring for your DF to grow more and more each year!
The paint strainers were a game changer for me especially that they just have perfect 5 gallon sizes so that i dont have to keep adjusting the height of the tea bag
You can do this with any earthworm castings blackstrap molasses and homedepot dr earth dry fertilizer. Even without fertilizer just earthworm castings will work.
Hey Richard, is it necessary to use the bubbler? Can I just let the water sit for 24 hrs and then add all the ingredients and let it sit for another 24 hrs?
Richard I love all your videos. You inspired me to grow a bunch of dragon fruits. Question:: can I use these products WITHOUT the air pump??? Is the purpose of the air pump to mix the ingredients thoroughly??? Thanks for your reply💕
Hello, so I'm just starting to grow dragon fruit. So I've bought 6 different cuttings, and I'm using Gary's top soil and using Dr. Earth 5-5-2 my question is what's better?
Hi CitizenXRP, as of right now. Im feeding my compost tea once a week. Since its organic you can feed them this compost tea every watering if you wanted to. But because it takes time and effort to make this tea. Gardeners tend to use it once a week or twice a week. It really depends on your free time in the garden. Its also okay to feed it once a month just to introduce those good bacteria in your soil to help amend it to compost that your roots can absorb. But, of course the more it gets the better. It helps boost its immune system and grows big strong roots. This prevents them from getting sick or catch diseases in the cold winter time.
You should check out Grow Generation in Bay Ho. They sell good organic soil like Roots, FF and Humboldt Gold etc, for $14 bucks for a huge bag. 18 quart bags. Something like that. I’ve never seen it cheaper anywhere else. They also have local worm castings from SD. Cheap!!! What soil mix do you use and how often do you feed your DF?
I’ve never tried the banana peel but I’ve heard of crushed egg shells blended into fine powder! It’s a good source of calcium for the DF. You should try it out and let me know the results! You have a good recipe going on!
Thank you for the video. If I only have one Dragon Fruit plant at this time obviously making 5 Gallons will be more than what I need. Can this Compost Tea be stored in any way until it's all spent or does it need to be used all right away in order to get the most out of it? Thanks
Hi Richard. I was wondering...has anyone ever used a df peel tea? Banana or potato teas are somewhat popular, fue to nutrients we can reinject into soil. Perhaps DF peels are rich on a few nutrients. Do you know?
Richard, you may want to add a word of caution, for those that have toddlers. Do not leave these buckets unattended or where toddlers can access it. Each year many curious toddlers fall into these buckets and drown. I always cover mine with a cookie rack and brick, so that nothing can fall into my bucket, when I'm not around.
Thank you Merrilee, that is very important information that I need to input in! Ill pin your message to the comments to make sure people read and see this caution.
Hi Stewie, most of this is bought through home depot. You can also get all these through amazon. I left all the link in my description. Nursery's should have some but not a big selection.
@@GraftingDragonFruit thank you. ...does this matter. ... my dog chewed the base of my cutting while in the pot and the new bud that was growing had a growth spurt but is really long and skinny. ...should I cut this growth spurt or throw the base cutting away that was chewed up. ....thanks again
It is very a interesting compost tea recipe but the result is too short if you have a certain amount of DF plants. I think that a kind of concentrate to be disolved in water should be much more efficient in environmental terms.
Hi Salvi, I agree that using concentrate fertilizer can be more convenient but I don't agree that its efficient for the environment. Synthetic concentrate fertilizer have chemicals that can harm humans and animals and if used long term it can eventually damage the plants because it isn't organic. If the plant is fed with concentrates for a long period of time they can develop cancerous chemicals within the fruits which is harmful to humans when consumed. I only use concentrates for short burst of time to achieve bud inducing or to help a plant that has had trouble growing. Once I get those results i'll go back to organic fertilizer like chicken manure or this organic compost tea. Because its organic, you can't over fertilize with this method. You can literally feed them this every watering without damage done. With the concentrates you'll see a decline in your plants over long term use. Based on my experience.
@@GraftingDragonFruit Thanks a lot for your kind explanation on fertilizers. I meant organic concentrates to be used in houndreds of litres of water and there is a lot of research made by Jairo Restrepo (in spanish) that deserves to be studied in deep.
@@SalviMithrin No problem, Ahh! Yes organic concentrates are great. For a commercial farmer this is the ideal way to fertilize your farm. If you're just a backyard grower like me the steps to make the organic compost tea is just another day in the garden. :)
@@GraftingDragonFruit Oh boy, I just bought a gallon or flora nova bloom and grow. Instead I should be making this? Instead of using an air-stone why not just create surface agitation using a pump? Hi Brook Tran, thank you very much for subscribing to my channel! You can feed them as early as seedlings. This is compost tea is all organic which contains no chemicals that can harm your plants. It will provide your soil with beneficial bacteria which helps compost your soil to create nutrients available for your roots to absorb. if your soil doesent contain eartworms means its bad means also your are killing your soil with chemicals water is also important must use natural well water
Hi John, the bacteria comes from the combination of everything we use in this compost tea recipe. The bat guano, worm compost, and kelp extract all have bacteria that can grow with arrogation. The molasses helps feeds the bacteria to grow and multiply. The air pump feeds them the oxygen they need to multiply and thrive. After 24 hours those good bacteria is ready to work in your soil. Once you water your soil, they will live in there and start composting soil to create nutrients for your roots to absorb.
Hi T., yes you definitely can! You can feee this to all plants including fruit trees. They will respond very well to it and your fruits will be so sweet!
Hi T. as of now I am only feeding them once a week. Since it’s organic you can feed them every time you water and it won’t over fertilize them because it’s natural and organic. Some people do it once every week or once every 2 weeks to save the effort. It can take some work to make the compost tea so to save time you can balance it however works for your schedule. Every feeding, every week, or once a month. It’s up to you, the more bacteria that’s in their it will keep your soil amendment very healthy.

which method is best for fertilization? Real Growers recharge + floranova , or this?
How often and when do you use compost tea? Or is this an older fertilizer you would use compared to the Flora Nova?
Did you get good results with this? Or the other non organic are better?
does this goes "bad"? Do you think it can be stored on same 5 gallon buckets with lid at room temp for a while? (couple months max)?
Keep adding 1 tablespoon of blackstrap every 24 hours.
