    Nice! This is a smart technique. I did a heavy prune of shaded / lower branches + a higher PK fert and that induced for me!

      You know exactly what to do! That is how I approach Dragon Fruits that are being "stubborn" and not inducing me buds even though I know they are mature enough! Works every time!

    Hi I bought a dragon fruit two years ago and it is now in bloom. I had one and I didn’t know how to hand pollinate it so of course it just fell off. I have one that open tonight and I did the hand pollination and I have one more bud that should open in the next couple days and I’ll do the same and I’m praying for fruit. I want to thank you for this video so now I can try and get some more buds on it

    I had a really good budding season this summer here in San Diego, but a majority of them wound up dying/falling off very early instead of developing further. Do you have any suggestions on how to attack this? I figured it was due to the ridiculous heat we had so was thinking shade cloth might be needed? Cheers for all the info!

    • @GraftingDragonFruit
      @GraftingDragonFruit  4 роки тому +7

      Hi Luke, buds tend to fall off early because it is a sign that the plant cant tolerate that many buds on them. They will abort themselves to balance out the ratio for them to have energy to focus on the ones that are there. This is totally normal and has nothing to do with you or weather. As they becoming more mature. They will be able to hold onto more buds as time goes.

    Thanks for the info! I tipped my branches in Feb (it is now mid-May) and got a lot of new growth (almost every node), but they all turned out to be branches! I assume I need to tip a little later when the DF wants to bud in order to make the new growth become buds, not branches. Is that right? If so, what month should I tip? I am in the San Francisco Bay Area.
