Nice lace stitch with pretty volume. Use bigger size needles so it's more open.
//// Instructions
Use 2 or needle sizes larger than what the yarn calls for.
Stitch is made with a multiple of 3.
I used #4 yarn
10 1/2 knitting needles
This is a 1 row repeat stitch. It’s the same in every row.
It’s a double sided stitch. It looks the same in both sides.
If you want to make a scarf, a throw, a blanket… you can add 4 or 5 stitches at the edges, to make it sturdy.
Purl 1,
yarn over,
pass one as if to purl,
knit 1 through the back,
pass the one before over the last stitch.
Repeat

You are an excellent teacher always.
You won't believe how comforting it is to come to this video during the pandemic as I'm at home alone, far from family, knitting to keep my sanity in check. haha Thank you for this channel, JoannesWeb.
Thank you Joanne, who would have thought that such a simple stitch as this would make such a beautiful scarf.
I Love your tourtorials they are very easy to follow.
I really love your patterns they are super beautiful and super easy. When I start doing any of your stitches your words keep repeated in my mind. You're wonderful
I simply love this pattern. I am just getting back to knitting, after being away for over 25 years. So, I have been looking for a simple, but pretty, pattern for a scarf or wrap. I think this will be my scarf. Thank you so much for your tutorials. They are so easy to understand, & you go slowly enough for us to follow. I hope to learn more from you. :)
I love your videos. They are so helpful and your stitches are precise.
Lovely thanks for sharing I have no idea how anyone could give this a thumbs down
I'll make this for hanging cowl. Thank you, Joanne All your videos are excellent and with pattern too.

I love your video's. I just started knitting 2 1/2 months ago and my 1st project was this stitch. I made a scarf for my mom.
I was looking for a reversible lacy stitch for this beautiful yarn I bought on sale. I’ve never really stepped out of the knit/purl stitch because I’m pretty new at it. But this is wonderful! Thank you so much!!

How many stitches for a medium sweater? I love it
Lovely pattern. Thank you! What is the technique to pick up dropped stitches for this pattern ?
In any pattern, I usually tear the last row and pick up as I go. With more intricate patterns, I use a lifeline.
Is the bind off purlwise or knitwise? and should i add a row of knit and a row of purl top and bottom of my scarf?
What do you mean by adding 4 to 5 stitches to the edges to make the work sturdier ? For example, if I cast on 24 stitches to make a scarf, how do I add those stitches? May be a silly question, I'm not a pro knitter. Appreciate your help!
You cast on 32 stitches. (4+24+4) Knit 4, work the pattern stitches and knit 4.
U r amazing
If I make a sweater will it be difficult to increase and decrease
cool
Good day,
I love this stitch and wish to make a scarf. I do have basic knowledge in knitting and find this to be fairly easy. Although where I do encounter a liitle bit of a problem is; once I cast on all my stitches and purl my first stitch, how do I I do the next from the casted on stutches. I understand how you do it where you are but not from my very first row?! help!!!
Thank you very much 😊
For a scarf, try making 4 rows of only knitting and
about 4 stitches on the sides so it doesn't roll Then you can start with your first row
nice
I'm a very beginner level knitter. barely know cast on. is there a difference when you knit stitch from the front as opposed to knit stitch toward the back?????
Yes Maria, there is. If you normally knit a stitch from the front and knit one through the back, the stitch will appear twisted. Now, it does depend how you learn to knit. If you normally knit your stitches through the back, no problem, as long as you do it the same way.
When finished, how do you bind off?
Following the pattern.ua-cam.com/video/xKRA3PBgnt4/v-deo.html
Thank you very much for your reply!
could you please show us how to make a cowl on circular needles using this lacey stitch?
I'll try to fit it in.
thank you so much!@@JoannesWeb
Can I ask you something, do you have a pattern for a multi-diagonal knitted scarf
ua-cam.com/video/kZzxeTv6sak/v-deo.html
could you make this into a cowl using circular needles?
I prefer to recommend knitting flat and then sewing it into a cowl. Many people have an easier time this way.
Do you mind if I ask where did you get all of your colorful knitting needles? They look really nice.
I inherited them from my mom and from an aunt.
@@JoannesWeb Yes Ma'am, thank you.
Do you need to use double pointed needles?
No.
How do you add four extra on the sides with a multiple of 3?
I would just add 6. You'll need to round it up to the amount of stitches needed for the stitch.
JoannesWeb so, I make a multiple of 3 plus six extra stitches? Thank you!
if at edging 2 sts knit 2 sts end with knit then in the middle 18 yet it does not come correct
Pl reply and kindly explain
The stitch is a multiple of 3. 18 is a multiple of 3 and you can add stitches on the sides (any amount), to hold it in place. The stitches on the sides don't count for the pattern.
@@JoannesWeb then how do you treat the stitches on either side that do not make up the pattern? And did you also comment that 3 rows or so should be all knit (assuming 21 +6 , with 6 as side stiches) ?
Hi J!! As always a beautiful project. Would you be so kind to tell me how many stitches to cast on if am going to knit a blanket? Thank you!
What yarn are you using? What # needles? Make a swatch.
ua-cam.com/video/Gc2cLO32MmI/v-deo.html
Ok, please tell me exactly how many to cast on for a scarf...please.
If you use #4 yarn and #10 needles, I would use 24 (Multiple of 3) plus 3 on each side =30
JoannesWeb thank you so much! I want to make this beautiful pattern!!!!!!
plz can u upload video to starting ...this video is good bt i dont no how to start plz upload .
You cast on and start with your stitch from the first row.

Do you know all of these patterns/stitches by heart or do you still have to look them up? I hope I am knowledgeable as you are someday. How long have you been knitting?
lol!!! I have to look them up! I don't know all of them by heart. Many yes, but not all.
African. Flower.
Where is the beginning?? Can you please upload the beginning? Thanks
Cast on stitches any way you wish and start stitch pattern from row 1.
B
Very nice but you shoud start from the begining
Would it roll very much because I think a scarf would be so much prettier without knit borders.
I don't think it would roll much. And you can block it later, if you wish.
As a beginner..I wish you could have gone slower at the end...
This woman would greatly benefit from continental style knitting. Her style is so convoluted, many unnecessary steps.
