    Nice lace stitch with pretty volume. Use bigger size needles so it's more open.
    //// Instructions
    Use 2 or needle sizes larger than what the yarn calls for.
    Stitch is made with a multiple of 3.
    I used #4 yarn
    10 1/2 knitting needles
    This is a 1 row repeat stitch. It’s the same in every row.
    It’s a double sided stitch. It looks the same in both sides.
    If you want to make a scarf, a throw, a blanket… you can add 4 or 5 stitches at the edges, to make it sturdy.
    Purl 1,
    yarn over,
    pass one as if to purl,
    knit 1 through the back,
    pass the one before over the last stitch.
    Repeat

    I simply love this pattern. I am just getting back to knitting, after being away for over 25 years. So, I have been looking for a simple, but pretty, pattern for a scarf or wrap. I think this will be my scarf. Thank you so much for your tutorials. They are so easy to understand, & you go slowly enough for us to follow. I hope to learn more from you. :)

  • @shcheok9658
    @shcheok9658 5 років тому +2

    What do you mean by adding 4 to 5 stitches to the edges to make the work sturdier ? For example, if I cast on 24 stitches to make a scarf, how do I add those stitches? May be a silly question, I'm not a pro knitter. Appreciate your help!

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  5 років тому +1

      You cast on 32 stitches. (4+24+4) Knit 4, work the pattern stitches and knit 4.

    Good day,
    I love this stitch and wish to make a scarf. I do have basic knowledge in knitting and find this to be fairly easy. Although where I do encounter a liitle bit of a problem is; once I cast on all my stitches and purl my first stitch, how do I I do the next from the casted on stutches. I understand how you do it where you are but not from my very first row?! help!!!
    Thank you very much 😊

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  7 років тому +2

      For a scarf, try making 4 rows of only knitting and
      about 4 stitches on the sides so it doesn't roll Then you can start with your first row

    I'm a very beginner level knitter. barely know cast on. is there a difference when you knit stitch from the front as opposed to knit stitch toward the back?????

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  6 років тому

      Yes Maria, there is. If you normally knit a stitch from the front and knit one through the back, the stitch will appear twisted. Now, it does depend how you learn to knit. If you normally knit your stitches through the back, no problem, as long as you do it the same way.

    • @JoannesWeb
      @JoannesWeb  7 років тому

      The stitch is a multiple of 3. 18 is a multiple of 3 and you can add stitches on the sides (any amount), to hold it in place. The stitches on the sides don't count for the pattern.

    • @shcheok9658
      @shcheok9658 5 років тому

      @@JoannesWeb then how do you treat the stitches on either side that do not make up the pattern? And did you also comment that 3 rows or so should be all knit (assuming 21 +6 , with 6 as side stiches) ?
