The Bodnik Slick Stick Recurve and Longbow are OUTSTANDING! I own both and they are wonderful and the cost is reasonable and includes a magnificent 30 year warranty! Enjoy!🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹🏹
Great vid. Only time I unstring my Mohawk is when I am adjusting brace heights occasionally. It stays strung up.
Traveler2112
Perfect
Same way I’m handling
I have a 50 lb recurve that was made in the late fifties. I originally bought it for $20 in a pawn shop back in the 80s. It had a blocky grip and high shelf and covered in paint for hunting. I have customized the grip and shelf area to fit both me and my shooting style as suggested by Fred Asbell in his book years ago. it is a glass laminated bow and I have also refinished the bow years ago as well. I have left it strung for years and it still shoots just fine. it is also one of my favorite bows, have taken a lot of game with it over the years, even bow fished with it. Love your videos,, keep it up
Late answer! Thanks for your feedback and comment. Lot of archers even don`t know about this.
pro tip : you can watch series at Flixzone. Been using them for watching a lot of movies recently.
@Leroy Amir definitely, have been watching on flixzone} for months myself :)
@Leroy Amir Yea, I have been watching on flixzone} for months myself :D
Nice Henry😊😊😊
Yes, This guy knows his stuff! I have a Glass laminated Hummingbird bow which was a little heavy on the draw weight for me. So I left it strung and hung it on the wall hoping that it would loose a few pounds and be easier to shoot. But no, after 25 years, it did not loose anything. Also, when a bow is strung, there is hardly any load on the limbs at all.
Thank you again Henry
Thank you for your comment. Think this statement was necessary
Thanks for your comment
I leave My Bodnik 64" / 60# ( Z bow ) strung up during the 6 month hunting season .The only change I have observed is brace height due to string stretch . Thanks Henry !
That’s how to go
Good stuff.
Good explanation 😎👍🇨🇦🏹
Thanks for your comment and feedback!
Have you got any experience with the great plains recurve bows?
Cool video..what a tough bow!

Yes Sir!!! we don't unstrung the bow in Kyudo....my carbon bow (yumi) don't loose power in 7 years and never unstrung....
hector de lorenzi Thanks for your comment ☺️👍
Great video - I was concerned about this as well.........….LOVE my 35# Bodnik Slick Stick!!! At 64 years of age I can shoot it all day.

Thanks for your nice comment.
Enjoy traditional archery!
Thanks shooting a #bodnikbow
Understood.
Thanks for the video. Do you think a bow should be unstrung when transported in a vehicle on a hot day?
Of course it’s better! Not necessary with a Bodnik Bow because our process and the material can resist without any problem. But most other brands will delaminate.

Good shooting bows
So I dont need to unstring my Slick Stick! But does it hurt it if I do?

No problem at all! Feel free to unstrung your bow every time you want!
I have a few antique wooden bows that I always unstring. I haven't unstrung my Black Widow Bows in 5 years except to change strings

Hi Henry
Does this include bear paw Penthalon Mohican and Blackfoot range? You don’t have to de string these?
Mark Swain
Not necessary
Also glass laminated bows. Fine to store them strunged
That’s great thank you
I was looking at the Blackfoot but with a 31.5 draw I have been told this would be to much for the bow. Is this correct? I currently have the Mohican and it’s a great bow.
Mark Swain
Not a problem for the bow. But it’s out of his comfort zone. Will ad more than 3 lbs per inch if you will draw more than 30“. Not any more smooth! But of course no problem for the bow.
Henry Bodnik - Archery and Adventures many thanks
I have a 33 1/2 draw length, would a Bodnik bow be able to handle this seeing that it can take so much abuse?
Wilco Van Kleef-Bolton of course our bows can handle this draw length without quality problems. But the main point is that you need a bow to be comfortable and effective at your full draw. For this draw length I can’t recommend right now one of our Bodnik Bows.
What kind of bow type you are looking for? Recurve, longbow or hybrid?
@@henrybodnik-archeryandadve2111 At the moment I haven't got a preference re type of bow, as long as it is suitable for my draw length :)
What is your preference in the use of the bow? Archery tournaments, visiting 3 d ranges, shooting in your backyard or bowhunting
@@henrybodnik-archeryandadve2111 It would be tournaments and visiting 3D ranges. But mainly 3d I think.
Wilco Van Kleef-Bolton Wilco Van Kleef-Bolton
It really depends what you prefer to shoot. Right now I have the 60” Shrew Bow in my mind. This hybrid bow can handle this draw length without any problems. It’s a 60” powerful bow. But also very low mass weight! Please check in this matter the link of the vid: Henrys Traditional Archery Episode 1: The 60" Super Shrew II ! The smoothest bow I ever shoot! ua-cam.com/video/2pgZLC_Emz8/v-deo.html
I think Yes. Every day :) I know, day, or week for modern laminated bows it's no problem, but... wood (2-3 hours to selfbow) imho
@@achimpeters6253 one man lost his unerring laminated bow.... in the car. Sun day and.... broken bow.
This has actually been tested on selfbows. They can be left strung for very long periods of time without being affected what so ever.
Finally it’s right to unstrung the bow atva sunny day if you want to leave him in the car. But if the producer are using the right glue, fiberglass and processes it’s also no problem for the bow! But of course I’m not recommending to store a glaslaminated bow strunged at a hot and sunny day in a car!!!
But just check this vid:

Don’t agree at all. That’s new for me! I’m curious about this testing. Please send me a link to get information about this testing. Looking forward to get information about wooden bows who can stay strunged over a long period without string follow and loosing weight!
Warte mal.

I'm late catching this video but..... I would add that IMO, if you are leaving the bow in a car for a good few hours in very hot weather then it's probably better to un-string the bow.
If it‘s no Bodnik Bow I‘m highly recommending to do this!

@@henrybodnik-archeryandadve2111 Interesting video Henry, unfortunately I do not own a Bodnik bow in my collection as at the moment the bows of my choice are out of my price range. What would have been a more convincing test is if he had taken a draw weight measurement before and after at similar temperatures. While Epoxy resin's strength degrades at temperatures at or above 177 degrees Celsius what about the bamboo core? As bamboo can be formed with heat, if a bamboo (or wood core) bow's limbs suffer limb poundage after being left strung in high temperatures? It's nice that you take the time to answer older videos, thanks Henry.
I don't understand why it's such a problem for some people to unstring their bow. Pure laziness. It takes a few seconds, and it's being safe, not risking your bow.
Obviously some bows can take it, as you demonstrate, but I would never take that chance.
Thank you for your comment. Of course it’s understandable that you are unstringing your bow after every use. Main information of this vid is to pass out the information that it’s not necessary for Bodnik Bows!
Home defence😂
You might add that if you leave the bow in a vehicle in 43c heat, unstrung it! Don’t ask me how I know!😡
Of course it’s better but just check this vid!
ua-cam.com/video/t9hVJwsD6JI/v-deo.html
This guy does not know how to hang a trad bow. You see how far apart those pegs are? They should be as close to the riser as possible to keep the limbs from twisting. Now you can use a rack like that if you hang the bow by the string and not the limbs. Those pegs are way too far apart. So many bow tack makers make what looks good instead of the right way. Those wooden pens can bend with changes in humidity and if one leans one way and the other leans the other way, you will end up with two twisted limbs. Expensive to fix. Being a voter he should know this.
Also, I string those bows. With all the pressure on the string 24/7, the string will stretch changing your brace height and your arrows will look out of tune to your bow. So even if you leave it string, unless you use a loud string that does not stretch, you will have to check the brace height every time your shoot, meaning unstringing it to twist up the string to set the brace height anyway. So just go ahead and I string it to be safe, and even I unstrung, do not had the limbs on a rack like his. This will save you headaches in the future.
Thank you for your fantastic information!
I have a question, what do you mean "glass laminated bow"? Does it mean that your bow limbs are 100% made of fiberglass and no other materials inside?
Please let me know.
Thank you.
