Very grateful for your videos and their production value. No fluff, no endless chatter - just pure content, straight and to the point. You show the tip, then show it in action, and move on. In other words, you respect our time.
My tips based on mistakes I see new Cities Skylines players making: 1) Don't overdo roundabouts. Combine back-to-back roundabouts into oval-abouts. Don't put a roundabout right next to an intersection. Each roundabout needs plenty of breathing space around it for vehicles to wait their turn. 2) Don't overdo one way roads. A one way road should always be paired with a parallel one way road in the opposite direction. Don't make all your industrial roads one way. That's too many. Local roads should never be one way. 3) Don't overdo dead ends (cul de sacs). Keep them only a block long. 4) Don't overdo dedicated lanes (for buses, bikes, trams, etc.) Choking off normal traffic only makes matters worse. Don't restrict lane usage more than necessary. 5) Don't overdo public transport stops and vehicles. Don't put more than 8 stops on a line. Most lines probably don't need more than 1 vehicle per stop. 6) Don't use excessive numbers of lanes. There's almost never a need for more than 3 normal lanes in one direction in the game. Local roads should only be one lane in each direction, collector roads two lanes in each direction. 7) Do use lane mathematics. Reduce by a lane at off ramps, add them back at on ramps. 8) Do use dedicated turning lanes. Traffic that turns is slower than through traffic. Make sure the through traffic does not back up behind traffic that is waiting to turn. 9) Do provide redundant connections. Neighborhoods with only a single entrance/exit create bottlenecks and prevent service vehicles from getting through on time. Don't make your service vehicles use your highway network to get to a neighborhood. Always provide multiple connections between your industry and the rest of your city. 10) Do provide walking and biking paths separate from the street traffic. Make your city a place you'd like to live in in real life.
@@RickyKingPlays Just got your channel in my recommendation. You have amazing imagination that you are able to build such beautiful cities with limited resources and tools. You deserve to work on PC witth mods and stuff . I dont how how beautiful it can be when you have ultimate tools in your hands. This game is definitely not for consoles
@@jyotsnasrivastava6373 Thanks you for such an uplifting compliment, really appreciate that. I do agree with you, this game is actually designed for PC. It's just a bonus this was ported to consoles, and those who hasn't got a decent PC can enjoy it. I had CS from Steam but my 8GB rig can't handle even vanilla with all the DLC's. 😁. Maybe soon I'll be able to play it both in PS and PC, hopefully.
A few of these were tips I already knew, but explained in a way that makes more sense. Like road hierarchy I knew, but I am bad at it. This has given me some Inspiration, thank you. Can't wait to try this out.
I have never watched a console player in CS. Your videos were absolutely fantastic!! The way of detailing in your city is fabulous. One thing I felt is that your city is a bit modular than realistic. My tip would be to manage the supply chain of your industries. (Traditional yellow zones or DLC.) If you can extract or grow resources next to where you produce them, and then process them next to where they will be shipped to a factory which is located near a shopping center... You greatly reduce truck traffic. Monitor the imports / exports of your city and try to have a balance. Warehouses and other storage buildings FTW. Awesome console vid!
That's an excellent idea. Industrial vehicles are one of the major traffic contributors. It would be a great relief if you can confine them. Thanks a lot :)
Wow! I just discovered your channel a couple of weeks ago . I am amazed at not only your building skills but how much can be learned throw your visuals and without a single word said . Thanks you so much for tip 3!! all my main streets were completely backed up before i found out you can turn of road lights. im on ps with mouse and keyboard and i could not find that anywhere so i just presumed it was a mod❤️❤️
Using short (half to one block length) dead-end side-streets off of a commercial stretch allows extra space for parking, and delivery or service vehicles to turn round.
These are great tips. Wish there were easy ways to build interchanges not in the game. I do want to note that you can build 100k cities with the game-provided interchanges, it just requires a lot of fiddling. I agree with reducing intersections but don’t go overboard. Having too few makes it difficult for services like garbage. Im not an imaginative builder but my number one key to success is providing options. Multiple ways for industry. I also abuse bikes - so much easier to manage than public transport.
Agree with your ideas. I actually haven't "abused" bike, and i think that's a great idea. Seen a video about that a long time ago, and cims prefer to use them. Thanks, Matthew.
About the U turn, I would recommend downgrade the numbers of the road to avoid the cars stuck behind if some want to go further. And I can tell u, I love the local roads, I couldn't do yet on my city, I'm to attach to the first one
Great video ! Honestly i think the main issue of traffic jams is th ai. Pnhj wont spread everywhere to reduce trafic, they just go for the sortest itinetary even if it’s full. I have a waste area so merchandise transportation is a huge problem. So i built 3 trains stations to reduce trafic. But no every trucks go to only one station, the two others are totally empty they are never used. That’s really sad
The best tip I have that most ppl miss is actually based off of real life. Knowing where you want flow and where you want traffic broken up via traffic lights The tip many give about removing traffic lights is wrong, they have there place to break up traffic particularly in the downtown high density areas of the city. • On dead-ends, connect a pedestrian path to a nearby non-highway road. This will make walking route shorter than driving. • Occasionally add pedestrian routes across highways and service roads. traffic lights usually make the traffic the worst, but I find them great at very busy highway junctions where cars try to enter the middle or left lane immediately. Just have to change both the main highway and slip road to a six-lane-one-way Btw: is the console version limited to 10 tiles? I'm running out of space and can't purchase another one
That's a great way to use the traffic light, since there'll be no left turn. You can only purchase up to nine tiles on console. It's a PC mod that allows modded gameplay to purchase up to 25 or 81 tiles.
Hey Ricky remember me I told you that you have my dad's name and we were friends well my account got deleted so I'm back so where's Dallas I see you forgot it? its ok were you trying to get the mod on it I try but it doesn't work

That must be boring. I heard once there was a console edition, but completely forgot that it existed. Lack of modding might be the reason, i find the vanilla game pretty unplayable.
TMPE is completely unrealistic, the yield sign makes the cars automated, they drive perfectly in sync, which makes traffic fixing too easy, unlike in real life, where you need a good public transport system, connectivity, and road management. I think the vanilla game fits the bill perfectly when it comes to traffic management. This is just my observation from traffic "fixes" involving someone placing yield signs everywhere, and a few attempts with the mod. Sorry for the rant
It could be because you have a lot of exits on the right that are close to each other. But I can't actually say until I see it. Try putting some uturn slots.
To have trams running, do we have to lay rails in the places we want them to run? I have noticed that sometimes trucks turn right over parked cars, not caring about their presence. As if they don't exist. This takes away a lot from the realism of a normal unfolding.
Yes, we need those rails for trams to run. Unfortunately, it is the way the game deal with traffic, otherwise the traffic will not move and the city will have lots of piled up vehicles.

Vanilla traffic lights almost always make traffic worse if volume is high. Why do they give green to straight and left together??? Select the Inspector icon (the one with magnifying glass), then hold press "Y". A menu will show wherein you can select either "Default, Roads, Districts, or Intersections". Select Intersections. You can now select the traffic light and stop sign icons using the inspector tool.
I ve always watched biffa use mods like traffic manager and node controller to make traffic better and I've always wondered how vanilla players do without these mods, now I know, Just use ur brains rather than mods 😁😁😁
Even with mods, traffic is a tricky component of the game. I've seen a lot of console players asking for help about this, that's why I made my first T&T video about traffic management.
Don't forget on console or vanilla play the game despawns a lot of traffic if it gets too much. I use mods (like TMPE) which turns that off and makes the traffic 10x harder to deal with. But certainly some great tips here if you don't use mods

@@RickyKingPlays okay thanks, but how it’s work ? Because, me I first record on ps4 and put on UA-cam as private from PlayStation then download from UA-cam on my pc and then add to the video editor, put high quality and upload again on UA-cam. I try with many video editors but the quality still low..
you use this way too ?
7 desent help because everytime I try and make one it doesn't work and every tutorial I watch dosent work
Each city is unique. Try every tip you can use then find out which one works for you. Enjoy the game :)
@Ricky King , it would make following your channel easier if you spoke every thing versus typing it out. I can not play while watching your videos cause I can’t watch the video at the same time. Just a Suggestion
Appreciate the suggestion. Definitely worth considering. Thank you much.
New video 🎉🎉
Yes. 😀 Thanks for all the support.
If you have good transportation, you shouldn't even worry about traffic.
Agree 👍. Solves most of the traffic problem.
I wish console had the realistic population mod. It is kinda dumb yo have to have 500 factories for a population of 2,000 people lol
Totally agree. Lol.
@@RickyKingPlays also traffic. No matter what you do traffic kills your city eventually.
Alguien me puede decir para nintendo switch:v
Si
Show me the exact fucking piece of road you started on though 😂😂😂
Is it as nice, neat and functional as everything you achieve after?
Thats my problem… cleaning up whats already there
Watch my video on how to start a city. I usually give space if I am planning to widen a road, for example. And sometimes, demolish buildings when a new idea came up.
@@RickyKingPlays I get too emotionally attached to the more historical regions under my jurisdiction, simply removing them hurts.
Like Aboriginals n that
Weeew, while I use 15000 mods this guy does the same with 0
Many thanks. :)
U turn slots is a horrible idea lmao
