I chose psychology over-engineering, my family wanted me to be an engineer and dun din ako secured, but I realized that this is really what I wanted because I want to help people who is struggling with their mental health and to have a better perspective in life, I am scared to end up being a successful engineer but unhappy at the same time.

When I was in highschool, I was planning to take architecture course, because in the first place I am passionate about arts. And then when I finished up my senior high I realized that taking the course architecture was expensive and cannot be afford with my parents, so I decided to chose education BSED major in English. Unfortunately, I stopped and I had a depression, but during that time I didn't now about depression. Without knowing about my mental issue, I wasn't able to be a normal like I do before. Eventually, still I'm very thankful because I've learned many tips from experts and now I can cope sometimes my over thinking. If I have given the chance, I would go back to study and I will take psychology and so I could help many people with issues in their lives.

the salary of a psychologist in the Philippines and the US is a huge gap, in the US the lowest you can make is $40,000 a year or higher like $65k-$85k+. The lowest at $40k you earn like $3.3k a month which is like a 170k pesos and a year would be 2M. There is also sports psychologists who work for the NFL,NBA and other pro sport teams that make an average of $100k a year. Psychology is good especially in the US and other country’s outside the philippines

I’m super thankful for this because I’m in eight grade and I’ve always wondered what I’ll do in the future. Luckily, I got to learn what psychology is this year. None of my interests are related to it but I’m really interested in learning more. I guess it made sense I’m choosing psychology because I like learning about science and helping other people!

I am thinking of taking Nursing but at some point i don't feel comfy na kunin ung nursing. If you see a group of people all look at something, that may imply whatever they are looking at is of some significance whether it be danger, something interesting, etc. As such, you will then feel the urge to also see what it is they are looking at as you will also want to learn about the important information. I feel this makes more sense as I don't think conformity necessarily means imitating everything everyone else does. In this situation, I doubt there are any perceived social consequences to failing to look as well. I think it probably has more to do with wanting to see the important thing.
That's possible. Again it depends on the context of the situation. Conformity is the tendency to align their attitudes, beliefs and behavior with the people around them (in order to fit in). Yes its possible it could be due to a danger, perceived threat or something interesting but the basis will be the behavior of the group and how it influences a person's behavior.

Hindi sa pagiging NEGA or what kasi hindi pa naman ako sumasabak talaga sa real world yung tipong nagtatrabaho na kasi 3rd year psych student pa lang ako. Pero ito lang yung mga narealize ko ng tinake ko yung course na ito, first maganda talaga sya kasi mas magiging aware ka sa feelings mo pati na rin sa ibang tao, natututo ka kung pano maging sensitive sa nararamdaman ng iba, kung paano makihalubilo sa ibang tao, mas maintindihan ang sarili kapag nakakaramdam ng iba't ibang emosyon (lalo na kapag stress ka 😅) at iba pa. Pero ito lang masasabi ko, kapag pala nandon ka na sa stage ng early adulthood kung saan papalaki na yung responsibility na naiaatang sa iyo, kahit pala gusto mo yung pinagaralan mo parang nawawalan na din ng saysay. At ito yung dahilan kung bakit ko nasabi yan, Una alam naman natin lalo na sa panahon ngayon na marami ang nangangailang ng mga mental health services pero hindi naibibigay kasi kulang yung mga slot at job opportunities na ibinibigay sa mga graduate ng psychology (oo nga malawak ang sakop ng BS Psychology, kasi kahit saan pwede ka be it magprelaw ka or premed kaya lang sa dami dami nyong graduates ng course na yan kulang yung trabaho na iooffer kasi hindi din naman supported ng government). Pwede din sa school na guidance councilor,teacher,school Psychologists (kaya lang yung slot nga na for teachers kulang sa bawat schools kahit na dapat marami sanang i-hire na teachers kasi sa isang room 60 or more students agad so paano pa yung school Psychologists na mas kailangan para matutong ihandle ang emotions ng mga students lalo na kapag stress, nabubully, nakakaranas ng depression etc.) Pangalawa, ang baba ng sahod dito sa Pilipinas at hindi naman iyan lingid sa ating kaalaman (marami akong kilala na graduate ng psychology, nakapasa sa psychometrician exams, may masters degree, may na-published na research, nag-doctoral at ilang taon ng pagaaral pero ito nga ang nakakalungkot na karamihan sa kanila ay hindi connected yung trabaho sa kanilang tinapos tulad ng call center, online seller, nagu-uber, at minsan unemployed) ito ay dahil sa kulang talaga ang job opportunities dito sa ating bansa at yung iba naman na kahit nagabroad na pero nakikipagsapalaran pa rin para sa position na related sa Psychology kasi kahit yung mga foreigners din na kilala ko na graduate ng course na ito ay kumpleto sa masters at ilang taon din nagaral pero barista, cashier, online business, sa gas station at yun nga unemployed at housewife. Kung tutuusin dapat hired na sila kasi kumpleto naman sila sa requirements kaya lang minsan nasasabi ng employer overqualified daw like ano ba talaga? 😅. Kaya nga sabi nila Psychology daw ang pinaka-useless na degree dahil alam mo yon, kailangan tayo pero ang layo ng nagiging trabaho sa totoong tinapos natin. Oo nga pwede ka sa school, company, law, medical field etc. Pero bakit ganon mapapatanong ka na lang kung tama pa ba itong tinahak mo kasi kulang sa trabaho at mababa ang pasahod kahit na nagmasters ka. Hindi sa tinatakot ko kayo ah, pero ito siguro talaga yung realidad ng buhay minsan napapaisip ako na sana pala kahit na love ko ang Psychology pinili ko yung course na in demand in the future katulad ng sa medical field kasi ilang ulit ka din naman magaaral para sa med school at least kahit sa ibang bansa may trabaho kang makukuha. Nakakalungkot lang kasi na bakit hindi na lang kung anong tinapos natin yun ang maging tayo in the future.

Kaya lang yun nga mas kawawa din naman ako in the future kung wala akong mahanap na trabaho lalo na may mga expectations pa sa ibang tao na after mo maka-graduate next step ay trabaho agad which is ika nga survival of the fittest pa kayo, kasi sa dami dami nyong graduate ng psych iilan o kokonti lang yung available na trabaho kahit pa sabihin na ang Psychology malawak ang scope nyan in terms of job hunting (school,clinic, industry etc.) kaya lang hindi naman in demand. Kaya sabi na lang ng mga kilala ko, na sorry for the word pero "Psychology is the useless degree among courses". 😭Nakakaiyak kasi malapit na ko maka-graduate, isang taon na lang pero sa mga naririnig kong ito, minsan napapaisip ako na sana pala noong may chance ako na mag-shift ginawa ko na kasi syempre nabigyan na nga ako ng advice hindi pa ako sumugal during 1st year and 2nd year kasi mahirap na mag-shift lalo na kapag may major na which is 2nd year to 4th year plus sa sitwasyon pa ngayon na online class. Kaya pinagpe-pray ko na lang kay Lord na after ko maka-graduate ay may work na agad ako para makatulong din sa pamilya 🙏. Kasi yung ibang kakilala ko nga na nagmasters, doctorate, published research, pasado sa board exams nahihirapan makahanap ng work kasi either walang available, iba yung nakuhang trabaho hindi related sa psych o di kaya overqualified like really? Sana sa bawat schools magkaroon ng school Psychologists o dikaya sa community magkaroon ng mental health services para dagdag job opportunities sa mga psych students.

Only a few months left gagraduate na ako pero wala pa rin akong naiisip na college program. Gusto ko sana mag-take ng psychology kasi napukaw niya yung interest ko. Gusto ko maging psychometrician, pero what if hindi ako pumasa sa board exam, saan ako pupulutin? Anong job yung a-apply-an ng isang student na bachelor's degree lang yung natapos? Plus the fact that bs psych is not demand raw :(( My other option is bsba major in marketing management dahil marami raw job opportunities 'pag office or business-related na career, but I'm more on the introverted side, socially anxious, awkward with poor communication skills, madali ma-drain yung social battery lalong-lalo na sa mga events na 'di ko kilala/close yung mga tao. Mahina rin ako sa analyzation. Naiintindihan ko naman yung ilang topics sa genmath & business math kasi may formula/pattern pero yung fabm1 & 2 (accounting) talaga nahihirapan akong intindihin ang concepts. Basic math kaso nakakalito. I'm indecisive too, most of the time. Sabi nila kunin mo raw na college program ay yung naa-align sa skills & interests mo, at in demand. Oo nga't lahat naman napag-aaralan. Walang kurso na hindi mahirap. Pero gusto ko rin naman na nae-enjoy ko kahit mahirap. In that way parang nababawasan yung bigat ng kurso kasi you're having fun while learning. Hindi yung mahirap na nga, hindi ko pa naeenjoy kasi no choice. Nakakafrustrate kasi need ko na talaga mag-decide or else baka mahuli ako lalo na't open na yung ibang schools for college admission😭 Tapos 'di ko pa rin alam kung ano yung pipiliin ko. BS Psychology or BSBA major in Marketing Management? Interests or Practicality? Capacity or Practicality?

Hello, thank you for the video. I am an upcoming 2nd year BS. Psychology student, and I am contemplating on shifting programs. I heard that Psychology grads are more or less common nowadays and employment and salary income are low for a graduate with only a bachelor's degree. Can you please enlighten me If am wrong? or do you have any comments that can make me stay on the program? It's not like I don't enjoy Psychology, but I am looking at my future on a more realistic perspective. I do not want to have a degree that won't be able to support me financially

It would actually depend on your chosen field, industrial psychology jobs (like those who work in HR in banks or private companies tend to have a higher pay) compared to educational psychology wherein you could opt to be a teacher or professor. However, a higher pay would require a masterals or PhD degree. Insurance companies also tend to employ psychology graduates

Hi Ashe!! first of all congrats!! super saya ng college and welcome to the BS Psych fam bam 💚 so for you to be a psychologist 4 Years college (BS Psych) take the Psychomterician Boards after graduation 2-3 years Masters (Post graduate studies) take the Psychology Boards then you're a licensed psychologist na :) so all in all mga 6-7 years kasama na college. during your masters or after college you can start working na rin kasabay ng pag mamasters, madaming nagmamasteral na nagwowork na din hehe. hope that helps and goodluck sa studies!! 💕

okay I will try over the break! hehe but just to give you an answer now, Psychology is a helping profession foremost. Its all about helping other people understand about themselves and helping them with their thoughts and behaviors. If you are passionate about helping others or understanding behavior then psych is for you. But to be honest, there is no box for a psych student. All personalities are welcomed here as long as you have the heart to understand the mind and behavior.

i am a turning grade 10 student and im finding which course is best for my interest, making sure that my main choice is not only for professional long-term job but also which course fits my style of living, (by how flexible the schedule may be, to put my strengths in good use nad purpose etc.) and last but definitely no the least is what makes me happy. so far learning about this major makes me happy already and imagine myself doing. as a student and as a graduate and im happy to say na psychology is the one for me (at the moment) and so far this is the only course i have in mind. this video is superrr helpful, salamat poooo ate BEA

Yung sa psych kasi depends what field ka papasok, if educational pwede maging teacher or prof, if psychologist na clinical depends pa sa credentials mo if nag masters ka ganun. So I suggest research talaga what you want to do and if pasok sa salary goal mo hehe 💕
Before confuse ako sa kukunin kong course sa college kasi diko nakikita talaga yung sarili ko sa mga suggestion na course na binibigay ng parents ko but after 2 years kong stop sa pagaaral, narealize ko na mas interested ako abt ppl then I love giving advice and now.. freshmen ako next month and I'm starting to advance learning and it really excites me. Iniisip ko pa lang, natutuwa na ako sa mga matututunan ko and maeexperience ko.
Yes. I graduated senior high school sa HUMSS and 1st year na ako sa BS Psychology. I learned that SHS strands don't really matter that much when choosing your course sa college

Hi Charles!! here's the good news sa psychology, you can both be a psychologist and educator. Most psychologists are part of the academe or their main jobs is being a professor or teacher since eto mostly yung most stable part ng income. So to be an educational psychologist, you just finish College, take masters (right here you can start teaching na while taking post graduate studies ) and then pass the psychologist boards. Once you are a licensed psychologist most universities look for professors who have MA or masterals tas you can be hired na :)

When I was in highschool, I was planning to take architecture course, because in the first place I am passionate about arts. And then when I finished up my senior high I realized that taking the course architecture was expensive and cannot be afford with my parents, so I decided to chose education BSED major in English. Unfortunately, I stopped and I had a depression, but during that time I didn't now about depression. Without knowing about my mental issue, I wasn't able to be a normal like I do before. Eventually, still I'm very thankful because I've learned many tips from experts and now I can cope sometimes my over thinking. If I have given the chance, I would go back to study and I will take psychology and so I could help many people with issues in their lives.

Plano ko talaga na kapag d man ako makapasa sa entrance exam para sa psych ngayon magshishift pa rin ako soon at kahit mahihirapan kami financially since mahirap makakuha ng scholarship pag psych ang course ilalaban ko pa rin to kasi ito talaga yung course na nasa puso ko. the salary of a psychologist in the Philippines and the US is a huge gap, in the US the lowest you can make is $40,000 a year or higher like $65k-$85k+. The lowest at $40k you earn like $3.3k a month which is like a 170k pesos and a year would be 2M. There is also sports psychologists who work for the NFL,NBA and other pro sport teams that make an average of $100k a year. Psychology is good especially in the US and other country’s outside the philippines

I’m super thankful for this because I’m in eight grade and I’ve always wondered what I’ll do in the future. Luckily, I got to learn what psychology is this year. None of my interests are related to it but I’m really interested in learning more. I guess it made sense I’m choosing psychology because I like learning about science and helping other people!

In this situation, I doubt there are any perceived social consequences to failing to look as well. I think it probably has more to do with wanting to see the important thing.
That's possible. Again it depends on the context of the situation. Conformity is the tendency to align their attitudes, beliefs and behavior with the people around them (in order to fit in). Yes its possible it could be due to a danger, perceived threat or something interesting but the basis will be the behavior of the group and how it influences a person's behavior.

Hindi sa pagiging NEGA or what kasi hindi pa naman ako sumasabak talaga sa real world yung tipong nagtatrabaho na kasi 3rd year psych student pa lang ako. Pero ito lang yung mga narealize ko ng tinake ko yung course na ito, first maganda talaga sya kasi mas magiging aware ka sa feelings mo pati na rin sa ibang tao, natututo ka kung pano maging sensitive sa nararamdaman ng iba, kung paano makihalubilo sa ibang tao, mas maintindihan ang sarili kapag nakakaramdam ng iba't ibang emosyon (lalo na kapag stress ka 😅) at iba pa. Pero ito lang masasabi ko, kapag pala nandon ka na sa stage ng early adulthood kung saan papalaki na yung responsibility na naiaatang sa iyo, kahit pala gusto mo yung pinagaralan mo parang nawawalan na din ng saysay. At ito yung dahilan kung bakit ko nasabi yan, Una alam naman natin lalo na sa panahon ngayon na marami ang nangangailang ng mga mental health services pero hindi naibibigay kasi kulang yung mga slot at job opportunities na ibinibigay sa mga graduate ng psychology (oo nga malawak ang sakop ng BS Psychology, kasi kahit saan pwede ka be it magprelaw ka or premed kaya lang sa dami dami nyong graduates ng course na yan kulang yung trabaho na iooffer kasi hindi din naman supported ng government). Pwede din sa school na guidance councilor,teacher,school Psychologists (kaya lang yung slot nga na for teachers kulang sa bawat schools kahit na dapat marami sanang i-hire na teachers kasi sa isang room 60 or more students agad so paano pa yung school Psychologists na mas kailangan para matutong ihandle ang emotions ng mga students lalo na kapag stress, nabubully, nakakaranas ng depression etc.) Pangalawa, ang baba ng sahod dito sa Pilipinas at hindi naman iyan lingid sa ating kaalaman (marami akong kilala na graduate ng psychology, nakapasa sa psychometrician exams, may masters degree, may na-published na research, nag-doctoral at ilang taon ng pagaaral pero ito nga ang nakakalungkot na karamihan sa kanila ay hindi connected yung trabaho sa kanilang tinapos tulad ng call center, online seller, nagu-uber, at minsan unemployed) ito ay dahil sa kulang talaga ang job opportunities dito sa ating bansa at yung iba naman na kahit nagabroad na pero nakikipagsapalaran pa rin para sa position na related sa Psychology kasi kahit yung mga foreigners din na kilala ko na graduate ng course na ito ay kumpleto sa masters at ilang taon din nagaral pero barista, cashier, online business, sa gas station at yun nga unemployed at housewife. Kung tutuusin dapat hired na sila kasi kumpleto naman sila sa requirements kaya lang minsan nasasabi ng employer overqualified daw like ano ba talaga? 😅. Kaya nga sabi nila Psychology daw ang pinaka-useless na degree dahil alam mo yon, kailangan tayo pero ang layo ng nagiging trabaho sa totoong tinapos natin. Oo nga pwede ka sa school, company, law, medical field etc. Pero bakit ganon mapapatanong ka na lang kung tama pa ba itong tinahak mo kasi kulang sa trabaho at mababa ang pasahod kahit na nagmasters ka. Hindi sa tinatakot ko kayo ah, pero ito siguro talaga yung realidad ng buhay minsan napapaisip ako na sana pala kahit na love ko ang Psychology pinili ko yung course na in demand in the future katulad ng sa medical field kasi ilang ulit ka din naman magaaral para sa med school at least kahit sa ibang bansa may trabaho kang makukuha. Nakakalungkot lang kasi na bakit hindi na lang kung anong tinapos natin yun ang maging tayo in the future.

Totoo, makakapagtapos ka ng course na tinapos mo, pero maiisip mo pa rin kung paano ka matutulungan nito sa mundong hindi gaanong nagbibigay pansin dito. Kaya lang yun nga mas kawawa din naman ako in the future kung wala akong mahanap na trabaho lalo na may mga expectations pa sa ibang tao na after mo maka-graduate next step ay trabaho agad which is ika nga survival of the fittest pa kayo, kasi sa dami dami nyong graduate ng psych iilan o kokonti lang yung available na trabaho kahit pa sabihin na ang Psychology malawak ang scope nyan in terms of job hunting (school,clinic, industry etc.) kaya lang hindi naman in demand. Kaya sabi na lang ng mga kilala ko, na sorry for the word pero "Psychology is the useless degree among courses". 😭Nakakaiyak kasi malapit na ko maka-graduate, isang taon na lang pero sa mga naririnig kong ito, minsan napapaisip ako na sana pala noong may chance ako na mag-shift ginawa ko na kasi syempre nabigyan na nga ako ng advice hindi pa ako sumugal during 1st year and 2nd year kasi mahirap na mag-shift lalo na kapag may major na which is 2nd year to 4th year plus sa sitwasyon pa ngayon na online class. Kaya pinagpe-pray ko na lang kay Lord na after ko maka-graduate ay may work na agad ako para makatulong din sa pamilya 🙏. Kasi yung ibang kakilala ko nga na nagmasters, doctorate, published research, pasado sa board exams nahihirapan makahanap ng work kasi either walang available, iba yung nakuhang trabaho hindi related sa psych o di kaya overqualified like really? Sana sa bawat schools magkaroon ng school Psychologists o dikaya sa community magkaroon ng mental health services para dagdag job opportunities sa mga psych students.
Hi! I'm planning to take AB Psych talaga sa college but itong comment na ito, asinnnn like parang alam na alam or saktong-sakto iyong nararamdaman ko sa course na ito. Only a few months left gagraduate na ako pero wala pa rin akong naiisip na college program. Gusto ko sana mag-take ng psychology kasi napukaw niya yung interest ko. Gusto ko maging psychometrician, pero what if hindi ako pumasa sa board exam, saan ako pupulutin? Anong job yung a-apply-an ng isang student na bachelor's degree lang yung natapos? Plus the fact that bs psych is not demand raw :((
My other option is bsba major in marketing management dahil marami raw job opportunities 'pag office or business-related na career, but I'm more on the introverted side, socially anxious, awkward with poor communication skills, madali ma-drain yung social battery lalong-lalo na sa mga events na 'di ko kilala/close yung mga tao.
Mahina rin ako sa analyzation. Naiintindihan ko naman yung ilang topics sa genmath & business math kasi may formula/pattern pero yung fabm1 & 2 (accounting) talaga nahihirapan akong intindihin ang concepts. Basic math kaso nakakalito. I'm indecisive too, most of the time.
Sabi nila kunin mo raw na college program ay yung naa-align sa skills & interests mo, at in demand. Oo nga't lahat naman napag-aaralan. Walang kurso na hindi mahirap. Pero gusto ko rin naman na nae-enjoy ko kahit mahirap. In that way parang nababawasan yung bigat ng kurso kasi you're having fun while learning. Hindi yung mahirap na nga, hindi ko pa naeenjoy kasi no choice.
Nakakafrustrate kasi need ko na talaga mag-decide or else baka mahuli ako lalo na't open na yung ibang schools for college admission😭 Tapos 'di ko pa rin alam kung ano yung pipiliin ko. BS Psychology or BSBA major in Marketing Management?

AAAAHHHH!! Relate na relate ako sayo! Grabe. Yung halos hindi mo na talaga malaman kung anong susunod na step sa buhay after nitong senior high. Dagdag pa itong hirap ng buhay na gusto mo nalang agad mag trabaho at kumita ng pera. Totoo yang sinabi mo na dapat piliin yung course na in-demand at maeenjoy mo kahit mahirap. Pero mapapa sigaw nalang talaga ako sa isip na "alin nga?!" kasi hindi naman talaga ako sure kung saan ako magaling at kung anong gusto ko. Haaays.

I heard that Psychology grads are more or less common nowadays and employment and salary income are low for a graduate with only a bachelor's degree. Can you please enlighten me If am wrong? or do you have any comments that can make me stay on the program? It's not like I don't enjoy Psychology, but I am looking at my future on a more realistic perspective. I do not want to have a degree that won't be able to support me financially

It would actually depend on your chosen field, industrial psychology jobs (like those who work in HR in banks or private companies tend to have a higher pay) compared to educational psychology wherein you could opt to be a teacher or professor. However, a higher pay would require a masterals or PhD degree. Insurance companies also tend to employ psychology graduates

4 Years college (BS Psych)
take the Psychomterician Boards after graduation
2-3 years Masters (Post graduate studies)
take the Psychology Boards
then you're a licensed psychologist na :) so all in all mga 6-7 years kasama na college. during your masters or after college you can start working na rin kasabay ng pag mamasters, madaming nagmamasteral na nagwowork na din hehe.

okay I will try over the break! hehe but just to give you an answer now, Psychology is a helping profession foremost. Its all about helping other people understand about themselves and helping them with their thoughts and behaviors. If you are passionate about helping others or understanding behavior then psych is for you. But to be honest, there is no box for a psych student. All personalities are welcomed here as long as you have the heart to understand the mind and behavior.

i am a turning grade 10 student and im finding which course is best for my interest, making sure that my main choice is not only for professional long-term job but also which course fits my style of living, (by how flexible the schedule may be, to put my strengths in good use nad purpose etc.) and last but definitely no the least is what makes me happy. so far learning about this major makes me happy already and imagine myself doing. as a student and as a graduate and im happy to say na psychology is the one for me (at the moment) and so far this is the only course i have in mind. this video is superrr helpful, salamat poooo ate BEA

Yung sa psych kasi depends what field ka papasok, if educational pwede maging teacher or prof, if psychologist na clinical depends pa sa credentials mo if nag masters ka ganun. So I suggest research talaga what you want to do and if pasok sa salary goal mo hehe 💕
Before confuse ako sa kukunin kong course sa college kasi diko nakikita talaga yung sarili ko sa mga suggestion na course na binibigay ng parents ko but after 2 years kong stop sa pagaaral, narealize ko na mas interested ako abt ppl then I love giving advice and now.. freshmen ako next month and I'm starting to advance learning and it really excites me. Iniisip ko pa lang, natutuwa na ako sa mga matututunan ko and maeexperience ko.

Yes. I graduated senior high school sa HUMSS and 1st year na ako sa BS Psychology. I learned that SHS strands don't really matter that much when choosing your course sa college

Hi Charles!! here's the good news sa psychology, you can both be a psychologist and educator. Most psychologists are part of the academe or their main jobs is being a professor or teacher since eto mostly yung most stable part ng income. So to be an educational psychologist, you just finish College, take masters (right here you can start teaching na while taking post graduate studies ) and then pass the psychologist boards. Once you are a licensed psychologist most universities look for professors who have MA or masterals tas you can be hired na :)
