    GarageBand Amp Designer is INSANELY powerful. But trying to make the presets work in your song often just won't cut it... so today I want to show you how I would approach using the GarageBand Amp Designer like I would if it were an amp in a pro studio.
    This video is the 9th video in The Ultimate GarageBand Beginner's Guide series where I'm bringing you 30 bite sized videos showing you EVERYTHING you need to get started in GarageBand from the first time you open it until you are exporting out your final, mastered song.

    Colin your videos deserve to be the official Garage band guides with Apple logo on them. The value of your free videos is incredible, I rewatched many of them already. The Amp designer (just like the drum kits, the different instruments, the plugins etc) has absolutely insane power for a new user like me. To be honest it overwhelms me almost every time I try to do something about my music. However your guides are what inspires me to think I can actually finish my songs into something of a decent quality. Way to go.

    Colin I watched this video 4 or 5 times and each time I did I picked up gems I missed the first time around. Thank you so much for making these videos and the guide. To date this is the best series I have found on how to use Garage band. It is clear and concise and you are using clear every day language and not a bunch of technical terms most of us beginners don't know or understand. 😊 Outstanding job. 10 out of 10!!!!!!

    Hey Colin, another awesome video in this amazing series! Thanks so much for sharing. One question, is there a way to eliminate/reduce the delay when monitoring the input when playing and recording guitar? It's so off putting on my iMAC that it's pretty much unusable! Thanks in anticipation. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

    Totally agree with you that the amp selection is great and although I have seen the opinion expressed that they are not all that great I personally disagree. I can believe that there are better amp emulators but for most needs what GarageBand/Logic have is just fine. I like how it's easy to work out the real life big names Fender, Marshall, Vox, Mesa Boogie and Orange. Even easier with the microphones :)

    I have garage band on IPad. I don’t think I have many variables as it looks like on Mac however I also like to try out the bass amps. I am unusual from many UA-cam watchers In I’m not that into distortion.

    How do I play using the amps in garage band live? In other words, play the guitar with effects before recording or without having to record a track and adjusting the tone later? Please help! Thanks

    Does it make a difference if I record my guitar via sound interface or via mic when using guitar amps and pedalboards in GarageBand? Also why would you want to first set the virtual amp and pedalboard and then record afterwards? For me it makes more sense to record without any amp, plugin, pedelboard etc, and then afterwards add these because if I play according to a particular amp sound then I can't change it to another afterwards as easily as I have played it to that particular sound. Thank you

    do you think there is one important thing missing from the amp sim signal chain? that is, the mic pre-amp that the mic is going into! or is that actually also already part of the simulated signal chain? if not, do you think it would always be a good idea to insert a suitable pre-map plug in after the amp sim to complete the chain?

    I have not played around with pedals in GB too much yet, but I was wondering: isn't it possible to record using pedals that I have in the real world? The reason I ask is because my favorite distortion is the Big Muff (because I am a huge Smashing Pumpkins fan, and that is the one pedal that gives me the thick sound similar to theirs), but I wasn't sure if GB has anything close to that. Then again, this question isn't limited to just distortion pedals; I am asking it about ANY pedals that someone might actually own and want to use, as opposed to picking effects from GB itself. Great series!

    When I had a pod live pedal emulator there were so many people who create guitar sounds based on songs. I well wish there was a source for something similar for GarageBand cos I’ve never known anything about amps and pedals.

      Correct! Where you select presets at the top of the plugin you can save your preset.

    Also, why would you not have a guitar so you can play live as you’re doing this. The
    Amp might cause you to change your playing slightly.

    • @TheBandGuide
      @TheBandGuide  Рік тому +1

      Great question! I think being able to focus just on the tone is invaluable. If you’re playing and tweaking you’ll be constantly going back and forth, making some of the subtleties harder to pick out
