    There's a current trend around youtube guitar community of setting the gain to 0, if you go above that you're just boosting the guitar signal with the interface.
    If you set the gain to 0 you're using the ampsim as the developer intended.
    Of course if you like the sound of the signal boosted, by all means.

I got my cables so no RCA's .I'm using Asio , Reaper. I'm using Audio Assault amo sims. I like to use stand alone vs running in reaper. I got active guitars and passive. • @tim6723-f4i
      @tim6723-f4i 7 місяців тому

      The signal from a guitar is far too weak to feed into the microphone input or USB port of a PC. The audio interface is essentially a pre-amp that increases the strength of the signal before it goes into the computer. You need an audio interface if you want to record guitar on your PC - you can't plug it directly in

    What dose the DI box do then? I thought the DI box took a clean signal that you would then use an impulse response over the clean tone. Do you get pro results with an amp sim or do you have to do heavy mixing to it to achieve what you did in the demo? We need a longer step by step lol.

    • @xanderraymondcharles
      @xanderraymondcharles  Рік тому +2

      As per my video, a DI box protects your signal from any outside interference. A cab IR is irrelevant to a DI box. It is like wearing a helmet when riding a bike. You can still ride without it, but it is recommended. I mix my demos in about 10 minutes. No major processing, I’ve just been doing it everyday for 6 plus years. I appreciate you saying my results are pro sounding! Thanks a huge compliment. I’m contemplating on doing a mixing tutorial video here soon! Does this all help? Thanks for watching!

    If you record a track "that your recording IS the di signal" you don't need a di box. if you want record that includes amp sim let the signal go via the track with amp sim to a aux track. And if you record both at the same time, you get a di recordng and a amp sim recording.
    Here is a signal path to this
    Gtr > daw > input track (rec nbr 1 the di) >amp sim > output track > input aux track (rec nbr 2) > out put aux track.

      Ha! That is THE MOST powerful laptop processor I have ever seen!! You could run a nuclear reactor with ur billion dollar laptop! Amp sims are not that demanding. Like Mr Otto said, basically any computer made in the last 10 years can run them. While ur computer affects latency, it's also about ur audio interface. But again, basically any audio interface is good enough. And one thing that wasn't mentioned in this video is that u should set ur buffer size correctly for ur audio interface (usually 128 or 64), otherwise u might have glitches in ur audio (for example Behringer drivers install u an app in the taskbar, where u can easily change ur samplerate and buffer size).

    I'm a wee bit confused. Almost all audio interfaces have a hi-z/'guitar' input which is, in itself, a 'DI box'. Why do you need a separate, additional DI box before your interface?
    It might be the reason why most folk's sims/plugins sound sh#tty compared to the YT demos? impedance issues? Still, I would have though the interface's hi-z input took care of that?

    Does the Di XlR force the scarlette in mic mode?

      @@xanderraymondcharles sorry I’ll try to explain better, on the Scarlett there is a instrument button when you have a standard guitar jack in your supposed to push it, but I remember reading somewhere that when you go through the di box and out into the XLR cable into the Scarlett it forces the “port” te become non instrumental and more of a mic input I could be wrong I have scarlette 2i2 and a radial I should just try and see what it does lol I was just wondering if you can confirm this

      @@Djdross ahh yeah I understand now. Correct, using a di box essentially turn the guitar di into mic level or "line" level and is no longer has instrument level signal. This is a good thing! You don't have to engage the instrument level button because the DI box is doing its thing and converting your signal to line level. Line levels IMO are better than the interface instrument cable signals. Hope this helps!

    As someone who already knows the basics of how to turn on a DAW, this doesn't feel like it's particularly informative about working with Amp Sims specifically, it's more like a video on how to record guitar on your computer.
    I get that's the first step in using amp sims, but that's kinda like making a video called "How to run properly" and it's a video of you putting on running shoes and filling a water bottle.
    For the record, I think this is a great and informative video, just poorly titled.

    If the audio interface already has a Hi-Z, you don't really need a Di Box.

    all i want is an amp sim that doesnt require some insanely complicated DAW....all ii want is to play sound from my speakers like an amp. Couldnt give 2 shits about making an album, recording, producing etc...thats the thing thats REALLY turned me off of this is how complicated the DAWs are

    Have you thought about painting your studio a cool color? You got some cool gear and guitars you should put them on display behind you not trying to tell you what to do buy I think it could possibly help you grow as stupid as that sounds you have the talent and make better content then most the larger UA-camrs

    Holy shite. Why so incredibly insanely complicated? Can't anybody make it as simple as an amp with an overdrive? Humans are so good at trying to improve nothing. With an inferior digital shit.

    AN AMP AMPLIFIES THE SIGNAL, THATS ALL IT DOES... A GOOD AMP RETAINS THE SAME SIGNAL WITHOUT DEGRADATION.... apples in apples out. no worms... measure with an oscilloscope as a wave form, a guitar is just a microphone, all these videos seem like some kind of joke... make sure you have brand new strings or it wont work 0:48 and 3:10

      My guess would be because you are used to watching creators trying to sell you products in every video, and you are unable to discern the difference between a paid ad and when someone is trying to genuinely educate and help out the guitar community. That would probably be why.
