@@diarrheapool Are you volunteering to purchase all the amps in the sim?
Young musicians are so fortunate to have UA-cam. Back in the 80s when I was learning to play everything was learned by trial and error. You had no idea what controls did, what effects pedals sounded like, or how amps would perform…you just bought something random and messed around with it. If you couldn’t figure it out you would sell it 😂
Aw man, tbh I can't imagine how hard it must have been learning the guitar in the 80s, especially if you don't have guitarists around you
I knew from the start that UA-cam wasn't gonna be very helpful for me, so I went with the old-school method of trial & error. The result was my dream sound.
Also had to learn songs from listening to tapes.Maybe that was a good thing but man it was frustrating too.
This the best vid I have ever seen on the basics of amplifiers. Especially putting the guitar and amp in a neutral position. BRAVO!
You're too kind mate, thanks!
First one that actually made sense! Thanks for playing the same brief thing for comparison instead of showing off with lengthy different examples that are hard to compare.
I'll admit it, I'm just a software engineer, and I'm helping out a friend with a Noise Box project (with a piezo pickup) and *I* hadn't a clue of the difference between vibrato and tremolo. So, YES, some people (like me) do need to hear this. Makes perfect sense now! Thanks!
Do they go to 11?
OMG FINALLY SOMEONE THAT ACTUALLY EXPLAINS WHAT TGE HELL AN AMP IS
Gain is the amount of volume going into the amp and the output volume coming out to the speaker. Brillant explanation. Thanks.
Been playing for almost 60 years now but always open to different ideas and interpretations.
Every time I search to learn something a guy shows up with a video less than 15 minutes and makes me understand the concept till my grave. You're a great teacher bro 😊.
Great presentation ...well organized...learned a lot in less than 15 min!
Great job! This video is so informative and helpful with lots of demonstrations and no self serving narrative taking up a lot of time as some others do. Thank you!
Best video I've ever seen about amps learnt everything I needed simply under 15min while enjoying a good sound
Great video man, I watched 10 other videos before this one and only after watching this did I understand how to dial in my amp.
Hands down best video on explaining the basics of a amp (and speaker) for anyone starting out on guitar
My daughter got interested in guitar. Long story short, she heard "Ride on Shooting Star" and now she wants to play electric guitar. She was given an old Mako TB1. I found an old Magnatone 412 in my uncle's garage, no idea why he had an amp. Anyway, the amp powers up, but needs some TLC before I let her plug in and use it. I'm glad I found this video. Everything I know about amps, I just learned here, lol.
Wow. This is the video I've been searching for. Thank you so much. I basically transcribed every word you said onto paper. LOL I feel I really understand so much more about amps, speakers, guitars, settings. THANK YOU!!!!
I bought my first electric guitar very recently and was given a beginner amp. It has less options than the amp you are using, but also several different jacks, so I was completely in the dark. I also had no idea it needed a speaker, and the specific knobs are not labelled, so your explanation has been really helpful for getting me started.
Great video! Super helpful. Thank you!
This video is awesome! It explains the setting on the amps so well! I didn’t know what half those dials did for SOOOO long lol 😂
Holy smokes, thank yous mate, I’m gettin a electric guitar for Christmas and I had no clue bout amps feel like I’m ready to get started now that I have an idea of what stuff mean! Thank you so much !

I only play acoustics, but - I've wanted to know what the GAIN button does for over 50 years, you explained it perfectly for us!

Thank you so much. I just got my guitar yesterday and I was so confused as to why there was no sound coming out of my amp when I strummed the strings. All I has to do was turn the gain up!
This is the best video I’ve seen on this subject. I just started playing guitar again and I’ve been wondering about amps and stuff and I feel like an expert after watching this video. Thank you
Thanks a lot man. I enjoyed the video.
Great video , like how you explained the use of the amp controls ,both on the analoge and digital facillities , i hardly use my digital Fender chapion 40, and prefer to use my 15 watt marshall without any affects except spring reverb ,it helps me to learn to find settings myself, your video is very well explained ,thanks for the know how
Very good video!

That was outstanding…thank you

Great video, mate.
Thank you for sharing.
Thanks for the introduction to amps. I started withma small Pro Amp back in th 90s with plug ins for hi and low frequincy gain. I bought Peavy amp in the early 200s that I do not use because I could not understand how to use it. Now I have a PodGo effects board with too many amps and speakers. Great name by the way.
Never knew the difference between gain and volume before. Thanks!
Very entertaining presentation Crafty, and yes, I think I learnt a few things 😮😊
Thanks, great tutorial on electric guitar/amp sound control basics!👍👍👍
I've always played acoustic.. but I found this seminar very informative!
I recently got some great used kit.
I bought a '96 Marshall 8080 Valvestate Amp and a 2003 Fender Strat in matt plum/cherry (maroon) with black pickups and setup with Ernie Ball 10s.
I love the movement in the video idk why that’s so key for me
Great explanation
Thanks for that.
THANK YOU SO MUCH DUDE ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Great video
Thanks this is very helpful
Very helpful to me, I now have a better idea of what I'm messing with instead of just messing with everything!
Good video, mate. Nice one. From here in London, England.
Yep good video thanks
definitly save this video. I would be thankfull years ago for this infos XD. Thank you.
Primo!
Upgraded from Marshall Park 10 Watts practice (/busking?) amp with boost, gain but just treble, ‘contour’ and bass plus volume.
Now have my dream amp - Vox AC15 with Celerion speakers.
But feel overwhelmed and intimidated by so many settings controls. And got several electric guitars.
So I’ve get months of exploring to enjoy.
