No disagreements whatsoever. I would like you to run a deep diagnostic check on the electric start harbor freight generator (I'm paralyzed so pull starting one wouldn't be fun). They have two different models of last I knew. Thank you in advance for reading this message, if you do so.
Thank you so much I was considering buying it .
@@DonaldAJr I have a WestinHouse 4500, its super silent, last close to 20hrs on 3 gallons of gas, has a remote start. Mine has close to 900hrs and has never had any issues. I run a 30 footer with AC, fridge and water heater.
@@WHC That sounds awesome. When you say, AC (air conditioning) do you mean Central Air or do you just mean an A Window Unit Air Conditioner?
See I watched a video of someone hooking up a 8500 unit (different name than harbor freight's predator) to the houses electric panel. I loved the idea.
I'm in the Tulsa Oklahoma area and the power got shut down for 2 hours (maybe a little more maybe a little less) a few days ago. So now I know I got to do something lol. I bought this house in 2006 and we went a week without power once. I don't plan on doing that again if I can help it lol.
That’s for the central AC of a travel trailer, for the house you need something bigger. Is a Natural Gas standby generator and option for you ?.
That was a hard-hitting product review! Nothing but the straight Goods on this channel. Thanks for the honest work.
Wow those are some nice “features” that’s disappointing coming from Milwaukee.
What's even worse is some channels love to promote Milwaukee product's but never bother to disclose if it's truly a waste of your cash.
Those "features" are actually really good features. You don't get it because you don't know what it's for.
As a Milwaukee fan boy I must say that I'm impressed with your honest review of the generator. They(Milwaukee) have been dropping the ball on some of their tools.
I like them a lot as a company and love their propress lineup. I think this is why I am so disappointed in this one. There are so many foreign essentially, no name companies making stuff that is bad right from the stat but here it really could have been a lot more. Even the car charger would have been a plus.
@jayden borron this issue was resolved via firmware reflashes still stinks it wasnt addressed before launch
Thankfully I saw this review before buying. The sales reps had me going at HomeDepot with all their bs hype on this product. I'm going to stick with a solar powered generator.
Thank you for your brutally honest review... It is refreshing, you've made me a subscriber
Thanks, I appreciate it. I normally don't bother showing products that I dislike overall but since I made my video about it last month as a preview gushing about it, it needed to be shared either way and sadly it's was a let down.
They now have an updated version where they got rid of the stupid 1 hour shutoff. It’s a good thing Milwaukee actually listened to their customers. Definitely would love to see your review on it. Always appreciate a good honest review!
It takes about 5 minutes of looking up energy density capacities to realize gasoline is still king by a humongous margin. It's 100 times greater.... Literally. I've been to a lot of construction sites and this has to be one of the dumbest things I've ever seen. About the only thing it would be good for is the workers to microwave their lunch.
What bugs me about gas generator is that they don't tell you how many kwh it produces in 1 gallon of gas (in electricity, not wasted heat), only a number of minutes, which is meaningless.
@@AdamIverson Good generators will. Grab the Honda EU2200i and you won't even hear that thing it's so whisper quiet.
Specs: With a 1800watt constant load it will run for 3.2 hours on 0.95 gallons of gas.
With a 450 watt constant load it will run for 8.1 hours on 0.95 gallons of gas.
@@sixtyfiveford so, what KWh would that be? 1.8 kw x 3.2 hours = 5.76 KWh and 0.45 kw x 8.1 hours = 3.645 KWh? That doesn't sound like a lot of usable capacity. Just a super inefficient generator, correct? There's nowhere near 100 times greater.
@@AdamIverson It is because you can refill it at any point. No need to wait for it to recharge or anything like that. Just simply pour more gas in.
@@sixtyfiveford battery swap is not an option? That whole process only takes less than 10 seconds and the depleted spare battery can be charged either from wall outlet or solar while other one is in work. Having spare batteries are definitely convenient and there's no wait time.
The Jackery seems like a much better unit for sure.......too bad people will buy this on name alone. Thanks for the great review!
I appreciate that. The Jackery is a good deal, very very solidly built unit. I use it to run my corded dethatcher and have multiple times and does great outside, not for wet but carrying it is so easy
The jackery is good but their biggest one is only a 1000w so you could not run or start a lot of tools so if you are buying something for a job site the jackery just wont do a lot of what you need but if you are camping sure get a jackery
@@shanew7361 Milwaukee has garnered a lot of fanboys. Not sure why. They do have good stuff but they have had their share of issues too. I guess the fanboys span all industries🤣.
I have had horrible experiences with Milwaukee. We had them at work, the drills and impacts all worked but the batteries didn't last for shit before they would no longer charge and the rubberized inlay in the plastic came off of EVERY Milwaukee tool we had. Surprisingly the Ridgid sets and one and only DeWalt set we had in the shoo never had a problem doing the same jobs.
@@geoffmooregm I'm a big fan of Milwaukee, have loved their stuff for many years! So I'm very disappointed in this product. I hope they go back to the drawing board.
@@geoffmooregm Their measuring tapes are a JOKE. Worse than a child's toy.
That's seems terrible especially for the price!
Shame on you Milwaukee!
I Was thinking of buying this but after your review on the pro and cons I’ll buy something else possibly the Bluetti AC200p.
I have the 200p. It powers my cabin when I’m there. So far, flawless. I also have the 240, the 2400 watt hour model. I’ve had that for almost two years. Not one glitch.
Milwaukee is a cordless tool company. This thing is designed specifically for work crews as a gap filler for the increasingly shrinking set of specialty tools they need that are not yet cordless. For example, Milwaukee likely assume you will running more efficient battery powered lights instead of plugging in 120v lamps for use under a house. In contrast, Milwaukee does not, however, offer a battery powered roofing nailer yet.
Even so, I think the insane price is going to turn off most builders. They would never consider something like a Jackery, though, to run power tools on a job site. They would stick with a gas generator.
They actually have a patent for a roofing nailer so it's a matter of time. They wrote it up in 2020
Make a random cage for Jackery and you have the same product.
@@ligametis an old petrol genny cage would be cool!
@@doughubbard5386 what about a tico nailer?? I'm dying for them to make one so I can go all cordless for my crew lol tired of leaky air hoses
Isn't Calif going to outlaw small 2 stroke engines?
Brutal- Unfortunately this is exactly what I've learn to expect from ANY Milwaukee GEN 1 product ... some times I wonder do they get tired of using us as their test dummies..
Milwaukee failed. File under POS! Thxs for the vids!
It's not a Generator, it's a battery pack with an inverter...This unit might be good in those limited seldom situations where you cannot run a gas generator and must be used for light quick work...IMHO not for the average home owner to make it worthwhile to have.
For that usage it’s nowhere near worth what they are charging for it
They made a mistake!! Period, I have everything milwaukee....but they drop the ball on this one. Sorry
@@anderlutionsIncStoneMountain I totally agree. The EGO Nexus gives better run time and capacity, and is cheaper. Milwaukee can’t get by on reputation alone on this one.
Back up battery ok, generator overrated. Doesn’t generate anything other than trips to recharge it.
It's not a generator. Milwaukee doesn't call it a generator and it's a disservice to viewers to claim it is.
That generator is trash, maybe Ryobi will come out with something better
At this point they wouldn't have to do much. I like the big surge watts but without reasonable run time it makes no sense to me.
Realize that Milwaukee and Ryobi are both owned by the same company. TTI / Tectronic industries out of China. Rather doubt that they will try to out do their Milwaukee line. Although Ryobi does have a 400 Watt pure sine wave inverter that runs off their 40 volt battery platform.
The auto shut off function has been eliminated in later production runs. Older units can be updated for free at authorized service centers.
I completely agree. I just don’t understand why people are so hell-bent on trying to run everything on batteries when It’s obvious that battery technology is not at the point to replace gas generators. There is no way in hell that a decently priced battery generator can run hi-powered gear like table saws and compressors all day. When we’re there and it can be done at a reasonable price, I’m all in, but I don’t see that happening till we have new battery tech or find a way for electric motors to do the same amount of work while using 1/2 the amount of energy.
Yeah, I'm kind of over the battery hype. Batteries are great for portable hand tools, small electronics etc..... Some of our best battery tech out there is in electric cars and those batteries are huge and still get used up quick and take a while to recharge (especially on the 120v watt chargers). Gas generators are loud and stinky, but they can put out some actual working watts and keep those watts up. Also, I'm curious why they call it a generator instead of an inverter. Clearly an inverter is the heart of it, but I thought a generator "took mechanical energy and converts it into electrical energy"
I'm sick of cordless tools. They bother me more than they help. Not for heavy duty use.
Belts and boxes made a vid that mentions they fixed that generator for $12. It's a little to expensive for me, but hope they come out with a M18 model.
Thanks, I just watched it, and I give them credit for trying but is not a real solution. It's like paying someone to press a key on your keyboard every 15 minutes to stop the screen saver. The real fix is to make it a selectable option or don't even include it at all.
This "generator" seems more like a charger to me. Very similar to the Dewalt power station that takes four batteries. We used the yellow one once or twice for running site lights or a quick cut with a table saw here and there. Most of the time it sits plugged in and acts as a charging station. Same situation with this red one. It's handy when you need to grab it and use it for something quick, but it'll be more useful as a two bay charger. Especially after seeing the new mx tools. A power trowel, plate compactor, core drill, etc. Having this guy on site charging up batteries for use in these bigger tools is where this is going to be used more often than not.
That's it I'm getting a Honda
Thanks Silver Cymbal
For a job site, unless you had a specific rule against gas generators it would be a better value: amzn.to/3aiLD58
@@SilverCymbal
It's for home use, a few ceiling fans, LED lights, phones and laptops.
IDK which one should I get though, the 1000W or the 2000W
@@THEKMT6 Get the 2000W model. That will power any single 110V tool or appliance you may need. If you needed a spacer heater for example to keep a room warm during a prolonged power outage you would be good.
@@geoffmooregm
I'm also leaning toward the 2000/2200W model, but the 1000W fuel efficiency is quite tempting to me (gas is not cheap & shortages are common).
I also live in a very hot/dry zone, therefore I need cooling not heating, especially during summer when the outages become frequent and lengthy (up to 20 cont. Hrs)
I recently got a 150W swamp cooler and it's served me well, just not sure if the 1000W would run it comfortably.
What do you think Mr. Geoff? And thanks for caring 😊
In your last video about this...once you mentioned no solar...it was all downhill and with this follow up.....its really DOWNHILL haha.
Back to the drawing board Milly!
I don't understand why some are complaining about it not being able to charge and be used at the same time. If you can charge it that means you already have AC power at hand which defeats the purpose of having this thing in the first place.
Maybe you need to charge need to charge on a job site using temporary power. You have to move around on a job site.
It is arming it because it’s like a super cap 🤣🤣🤣
Maybe it is, like the new car jump starters
I really appreciate all of your unbiased reviews. Some people get caught up in brand loyalty and tout gear whether it's crappy or not. Your straight-to-the-point, no nonsense videos are the very reason I subscribed to your channel months ago and continue to enjoy your productions. Thanks & keep up the great work!
Very nice of you to say, I appreciate that.
damn, interesting. I personally had high hopes for this tool. thank you for the review. That time out "feature" is rather disappointing, at least give us a switch. What if you were charging something via USB charger etc. That would time out prior to finishing.
100% true. I found one review from a very angry person sharing the crawlspace example but that's exact how people will use it. There is already technology in other models to sense power under 10 watts which would be reasonable.
I don't think I could have given a better review myself - well done as usual! You hit the nail on the head - the KEY aspect of any battery powered inverter is WATT HOURS. How many watts for how long. This unit *might* be an OK option for indoor work where you do not have access to any utility or gen power, like a jobsite. This might be good with a big saw plugged in, for quick cuts throughout the day, or a small/medium air compressor with brief run times. Nothing running continuously. But if I needed portable power and could chose between this or a 2000W or 2200W Suitcase inverter gen, I would go for the gas powered inverter generator all day long.
And if I was really in a situation that I absolutely could not use a gas generator, I think I would rather spend the money on 18-20V cordless Lithium battery-powered tools. You could easily buy several 18V power tools (that would be easier to lug around) than this unit.
After watching this video points out a lot. Made me realize this is not the product I was expecting.
the advertisement video they made on this was so misleading, even after you made a video about the ad made it look so great. would have expected more like at least 1hr at 1800watts or 2 hrs if you had 2 batteries.
I'm a big Milwaukee fan, but this poor excuse of a generator makes me wonder about their other products.
Milwaukee sure dropped the ball when they designed this piece of garbage. They should fire all the idiots that designed and produced this POS! Take it off the market and design something much better, with better features. I hope the big wigs at Milwaukee see this video, read the comments and take it to heart. Let's see a new improved gen set!
Any battery pack will have a hard time running a device that turns electricity into heat. We use one of these on the job to run tools and a compressor all day and it goes all week without needing to be charged with both batteries in. Now if we had all corded tools and ran them all on this thing then it would probably need to be charged a lot more frequently, but we run things that only get used in short bursts like the compressor and the miter saw. The experience really depends on what you’re going to be running. I wouldn’t buy one because the only thing I would use one for personally is charging batteries which is something else that we use it for, but there are cheaper options for power supplies dedicated to charging cordless tool batteries. I’d say if you’re made of money and just have got to have everything Milwaukee then go ahead, it’s not a bad unit.
Maybe they should have actually listened to their consumers and released an m18 power station instead of trying to be greedy by making us consider a new expensive battery line. In my opinion, Milwaukee has been disappointing these past couple years, especially with OPE.
Your video from two weeks ago..."END of GAS Generators? Milwaukee MX Fuel Carry-On Changes EVERYTHING 3600 Watts!" 🤦♂️ A Honda 2200 will output 750 watts for over 5 hours on a gallon of gas! For half the purchase price!
The update is Gas generators might be gone someday, but this won't be the one that does it.
Excellent review as always! You always do the full instrumented testing to back up what you're saying and that is priceless. Thank you for your diligence.
Thank you very much, I don't usually show products that I end up dislking this much but since I made a preview video for it, I felt I needed to close the loop.
@@SilverCymbal I think most people understand the point of doing the review is to show good AND bad. These things were talking about aren't cheap, and if someone invests the money to help them on the job or to protect their home in the case of an emergency then forewarned is forearmed. Thank you again for your scientific diligence!
Have you ever considered doing some reviews of your test equipment? I'm sure some folks would be very interested (myself included) and be willing to invest the money if they know what they're paying for.
@@andrewpoloni4197 Thank you. I have some unusual and maybe "exotic" tools that might be interesting in a video showing some of them. I could probably title it, insane stuff I bought without my wifes knowledge!
@@SilverCymbal good title!!
Nice to finally see a real honest review on UA-cam about Milwaukee products. Thank you very much
I wished this could have gone the other way. But it is what it is.
@@SilverCymbal I think its a case of Milwaukee taking a chance and missing the mark a bit. Its their first try and I am sure it will improve. Its almost like they didn't look at what was on the market already. I mean goal zero, Jackery and others have been doing this for a few years now. It would be like if Goal zero came out with an impact driver, probably wouldn't get it right the first try!
Because most people suck Milwaukee China's dick hoping they can free stuff pretty embarrassing, people stop buying Milwaukee it's owned by China
This was great video I have a few gas generators but I would expect a lot more from Milwaukee this generator looks like a complete disaster
That appears to be either a high-end toy or a
"marketing test model" to see what they could do.
Maybe they'll have more accessories for it in the future?
Solar panel, pedal crank charger, windmill, etc.
I can see the Eco-Family going "camping" in their
Tesla Truck, take something like this along.
Inside construction, no fuel fumes, nearly silent.
Plug in a PC & MODEM and Game in the woods?
It's possible. I think they could adapt something to the battery mount but I guess time will tell.
Thank you . I own all milwaukee tools but I have been on the fence for this .
Yes buddy, you shared valuable informations indeed.
Thanks for this great and honest review. 👍👍👍
Milwaukee finally admitted the timer is a bad idea, newer models will no longer have it. They are going to retrofit the older ones already in the field but no details (that I found) on how they are going to do it.
Info came from another channel, Belts And Boxes Mar 9 2021 episode.
I hope Jackery comes out with a higher output unit this year.... waiting for that one. From what I can tell, they usually introduce new products in mid-March. 1500ish Watts would be great
Keep an eye out
I have the Jackery 500 and love it! Jackery has a Jackery 1000 which has earned positive reviews
Thanks for the great review. Own a lot of Milwaukee tools and they’ve always worked great for me. Was hoping this was going to be another well made unit that I could use for portable gas-free power but won’t be buying now, thanks for saving me a few grand!
you can build your own spend $2,000 buy 4000 watts inverter and 4 12 volt deep cycle battery 75 amp 900 watts 4 battery 3600 watts build your own
Good review, but a question. Why would you want to run a load through the inverter while charging the unit? If you have 120V on site, why wouldn't you run the load off of utility power?
In case have need to move around on the job site. If temp power is only on the first floor of a project what if you need to go the 8th floor.
This is simply disappointing
I would say that this generator would mostly be good on a job site, so you can charge your tools batteries during a days work. All of my tools are Milwaukee battery tools. I will test it at my plumbing shop and see how long it will hold on charging batteries all day. We did just buy one last week. With 3 batteries. I tested it on my Ridgid threading machine. Threaded a 2 inch pipe no problem, batterie did’nt budge.
If it does’nt pas the test it’s going back to Wolseley for sure 😡 Thanks for the review 👍
For pipe threading I can see it being useful since its really short bursts and a lot of power and you are probably deep in a building with no power. That makes sense
5hp motor at 120v um that's like 30 amps by my math
Notice the voltage sag when you added load... what’s the deal with the shutoff? How many people used LED work lights these days... not cool Milwaukee...
We use 3 portable heaters to stress test 5kva generators, I wouldn't expect much run time with resistive loads as fuel consumption sky rockets as the genset is 100% loaded at its prime rating. I am a milwaukee man but I hope they sort out the little nit picky issues in the second generation, thanks for the reviews, if I was in the market for one of these I would have waited for the next model haha
Great review and you just made me change my mind on getting one, the price of the batteries are way too high and the charge time is way too long, it's quicker to fill up a gas tank in a gas powered generator so I'm definitely getting a gas powered generator instead.
Nice review. I was really hoping for a home run here. Thanks.
Me too! I was sure the runtime calculations prior to delivery had to be wrong.
It's NOT a generator. It generates nothing. It's only a storage device.
Why fool with this stuff? I use a Yamaha Generator. It actually GENERATES power, is 10 lbs lighter and runs for around 8 hours on one gallon of gas. The Yamaha will still be running long after that thing is in a dumpster somewhere.
I feel like this has a very specific market it's targeting crews in heavy construction that need to run big tools that aren't already on Mx or m18 it's restrictions seem to fit that if your drawing under 80w use an m18 top off if you need lighting use the rocket lights bot Mx and m18 I can't realistically see a need for this unless you want to run catering equipment like microwaves and electric food heating (which the short runtime fits well for or if your running something big like large plug in power tools also if you don't already use Mx for other tools this also makes no sense if you have this you Also probably have an Mx braker or lighting or cut of saw so this just mean you can get a couple extra batteries and run your other corded stuff at the same time
All great points, it's a strange one for sure.
The auto shut-off feature was removed shortly after release. This video should be updated. These are not intended for homeowners. This is a professional unit designed as part of a system of battery operated tools which include a jackhammer and 14” demo saw., tower light, core drill, ect. There are many instances on a job site where tools only need to run for minutes, or situations like working indoors where you cant have a gas engines running inside. This system eliminates the hassle of needing to start, shut off, restart gas powered tools and generators, or having to locate a generator outside and run long cords while working inside. Its not meant to be a “full replacement” for a gas generator. How could it? Its meant to eliminate the need and hassle of having to drag out, fuel up, maintain, and struggle to start a gas generator for intermittent use. These are designed for industry, not homeowners - hence the reason why its the only battery “generator” you’ve tested that will run your air compressor. That tool could be the difference between having a portable working source of electricity placed inside or shared between a van, trailer, or utility truck in 2 minutes, or having to spend the time, money, and effort to install an inverter system inside a single vehicle or small fleet. It could also be the difference of running a miter saw on a location that doest have power - for a full week - without ever having to start a generator once. Yes, you may be able to find a cheaper and smaller homeowner type unit to go camping - but the batteries inside will only ever power that device. With Milwaukee’s MX generator you can pull one battery out and run their cordless jackhammer to break up a sidewalk or basement floor. This tool is worlds apart different than what its been compared to here.
Big bummer, especially since Milwaukee usually puts out pretty good kit. 😕 Thanks for running this through the gauntlet SC!
You bet - This one was very dissapointing
This is wild. I remember using that exact same model of PPS and the exact same power analyzer as an intern at MT last summer
Wow disappointing to hear the Milwaukee shortcomings I was thinking about trying one of these units out. Have you tried the EGO system?
If you pair up the Honda 2000i generators with the parallel and companion kit it will start that snap on air compressor.
How is it a “generator “ if it doesn’t generate power and relies on battery packs that have to be be recharged?
Exactly. Probably AOC thinks this is how the real world works, LOL
I like Milwaukee and have a lot of their 12v line, but watching this review im highly disappointed in them. I hope they watch it too and quickly make a better gen 2 from points that you made.
I am too, as a company they have a huge variety of tools and I am a big fan of their propress stuff but this is a big let down.
Thanks a lot for you made this very special video for public information I was trying to buy one of these.
I think if you can get the whole unit for $1000 maybe.. but I think this unit will have limited success in sales.
I do also, I am sure this will get some use indoors for jobs with no power, that need to run tools. But so many tools are already cordless, so to ignore home backup power, camping, etc really loses a whole market for them
I would never buy a battery generator of any brand. The technology just isn’t there to replace a gas generator.
Yeap. Not worth it. Not protecting. 1 hour run😂🤣😂🤣 *Milwaukee got jokes*
Think your wrong! it's Milwaukee so has to be runged and the best! LOL JK
Thanks for pointing all this out was thinking about doing the same thing but just looking at the info b4 hand like what the hell are they thinking.
My thought is the product was pushed by someone like say home depot or one of the manufacturers they use and was not done by their team.
Just to make money using the brand name.
For me, it's taking years to develop what I want and comes down to the right time for a product. Timing is the top thing, that could be given things on the market cost too much or lack of parts that can even be made. Like, look at the iphone it came out at just about the right time.
When the engineering and cost come down on graphene batteries. That will be the right time for many products like this and smaller ones.
Given the performance of say a tesla we all want in a battery bank/pack or generator but don't want to carry around a car to do so lol.
Many brand names are bought for pennies on the dollar and resold by a Chinese company. Same thing with Funai, Magnovox, etc.. Look at Best Buy selling Chinese products under their Insignia brand. Element was a brand sold by Circuit City until they closed, but still sold in other places. They claim it's "American Made" but how American is it really since I don't even think their tv's were all that well made or rated well either.
Thank you so much for the review I was thinking about buying one. But now I’m not I think I’m gonna go a different way. I love your videos and I love how you take your time to review everything.
Glad I could help!
Don't forget to bring your gas generator along to re- charge this expensive toy when the battery runs out.
Great Vid, you sure did save me the nightmare of making such a big investment and getting left behind
It’s a POS. No 240Volt. Not enough KW-hour. Over priced. You won’t need to haul around this POS after you own F150 EV which has ample power outlets and capacity.
I would agree, it's not what anyone expected. The only people that like it are those that bought it and realize its too late. Not rugged at all.
Thanks - that was useful information. I want to buy a generator a t some point so I now know how to research it.
Nice to see someone actually measure the power output. Solid data, not just opinion based.
I'll stick with my Ego Nexus. Thanks for the review!!!
Nice straight review. That thing is really only worth it if you are running large power tools at an off-grid location or are using other MX fuel battery tools and have several spare batteries and can use a smaller gen to recharge that doesn't have the surge capacity. That lack of ability to recharge and use at the same time is a killer.
Never charge batteries on gas generator. Thank me later.
@@Gambuilt43 Why is that?
Probably shouldn't attempt to answer because I'm not totally certain, but I imagine the gas generator produces an irregular sign wave or "dirty energy". Whereas you witnessed in this review, a proper wave which results in a proper/clean energy transfer.
That's what my 1 brain cell has to say!
Blessings 👐 💚
Thank you! Love Milwaukee Tools, however for a battery generator id rather go with a Goalzero Powerbank.. more power, options, gauges, Levels readout. All this isnt.
Agreed power tools are really good, I absolutely love their propress line The generator/power station needs improvements.
How did they miss this? I was waiting on this product to serve a need that hardly justifies me entering the MX market, but this was my excuse. So stupid, I reckon every tradie out there on team red was going my camping power solution, giddy-up. Massive fail! Just nuts that the fan is not VFD. Was this product pulled together by the work experience student? I am not actually that price-sensitive, but I can't buy it after the reviews I have seen as it would simply piss me off. Hopefully, there is a rational offering coming to the M18 line-up. Hopefully a rare fail by Techtronic..oops I mean Milwaukee.
Thank you for taking the time to do this review. Most videos in fact all others I watched before this one spoke nothing of any negatives whatsoever only that it was the best thing since sliced bread!?
Glad it was helpful!
Those You Tube "tool' channels are just pandering to big companies in the sake of making cash. Don't really care to actually 'test' the products they show you. I know one example Channel they always seem to want to show you 'Milwaukee' products. And their 'studio' is in some guys basement.

The YT tool business seems a little shady.
@@SilverCymbal Yes, and your channel just gives cold hard facts. No need for a overly busty female to keep the viewers interested either.
I was so excited to get one, not anymore excellent video
Very good review. Milwaukee should know better than to enter a market half way.
Excellent review, but you should compare and test all the makers of those battery generators and find out which one is the best like the guy Project Farm who test a wide variety of products
I wanted to disagree with you.....I am a HUGE Milwaukee fan! That being said they missed the mark big time! The power shutdown totally rules out using for night camping power (I work in disaster response and could end up sleeping in my truck). No solar DC in is a total fail! Milwaukee needs to recall this product! Not what Milwaukee customers are looking for!!!😞
Milwaukee has a good name in construction, to bad this thing is a Lemon.
Way to much money for so little not worth it maybe 500$ will be good
I started my Milwaukee collection so I'm partial to stick with their products in addition the lithium ion batteries vs. Lead acid, but didn't like the very limited outlets it comes with. Now with the additional flaws it has, being very well pointed out and high price, I don't think this generation model is for me. Thank you for the video.
I actually love Milwaukee stuff too. This was such a disappointment, I feel like someone else made this for them, just doesn't seem like their work. Maybe v2 will be better!
I appreciate your honesty but I don't think you will be receiving anything else from Milwaukee to review.
Very true, but if they have confidence in other products that should not be worried if they decide to. This wasn't from them either I purchased it at full price.
Great video! I almost bought one of these, thank you.
Man that sucks!! Way too expensive just to run a router and a light bulb for a couple hours. I'd rather just build my own system using lifepo4 batteries
I'm the thousandth like, yay me! So you say that this product sucks _and_ blows, eh? 😝 Well, it's not all that bad if you think of the context in which it's intended to be used. This is intended to be used by tradesmen who use other Milwaukee tools that take those overpriced batteries, in places that have no AC wiring installed, at least not where the work is being done. Devices like this would be used instead of running power cables to each and every power tool, so UPS functionality wouldn't be a consideration. Battery packs would go to/from the one place where there's a power drop or generator, and be replaced as needed. In that situation, having the inverter shut off when there's no big loads looks like a useful feature. Not for RVers or campers, for sure.
When I worked commercial construction for 10 years, they would have laughed at this. The run time is part of the problem along with electronics being wide open to the air, dust and moisture. If f I was in a crawlspace or unlit room and after 60 minutes 12 led lights went out (enough to light 3 rooms) I don't think I would be very happy about this product being a real work tool.
@@SilverCymbal I get what you're saying, but Milwaukee also sells a wide range of work site lighting products, from small flashlights to entire temporary lighting systems. When I consider that, I doubt that they intend for this to eat into potential sales of their lighting products. Perhaps that's why it cuts off like that.
Now you realized? And the power is NOT generated--it is stored!
Your reviews are always thorough and honest, keep up the great service
I appreciate that!
Thanks for this review!!! So I run a steam cleaner on my jobs that runs at 1500 watts. Does this mean that I would only be able to run it for about 20 minutes before it was totally drained?
Saw this thing on another channel. It was all manufactured marketing hype and bs.
Absolutely no mention about run time there or indication of battery cost. I mentioned both of these concerns in a comment there.
Thanks for the real world test and cutting through the crap. You just saved thousands of small business contractors a ton of wasted money.
I did a preview video myself based on what they shared and it seemed promising, the reality not so much. The problem with almost every tiool channel on YT is that they are all connected to a retail store, getting the tools for free with longstanding relationships. I have none ordered this with my own money for the review, had I liked it I would have been the first to go nuts for it, in fact it pissed me off quite a bit!
@@SilverCymbal I love those like Project Farm, AvE, Big Clive and FortNine, who use their own funds, or funds from supporters through channels like Patreon to pay for products that they test, examine, and review thoroughly and with complete honesty free from bias or the influence of the product marketer or manufacturer.
Thanks for being one of those. I'll be watching more of your vids.
Awesome video!
This product seems like its only meant to cover the use of powertools while on a jobsite with no power, that you know, Milwaukee already has a VAST m12/m18 tools to cover.
That's the part that makes no sense, pretty much every tool is cordless and if you were cheap and kept your cordless tool, you probably aren't going to buy the most overpriced battery power station ever. I think they will still sell a lot of these and end up with a lot of angry owners not realizing what they got.
No solar charging? Missed opportunity!!!!!!
Dang! I was super excited about buying this power supply but after watching your review I won't be getting it anymore, specifically for all the circuits and boards not having protection from the environment. Thanks for the review you saved me some headaches brother.
I think I'd have to agree with your video. Pretty sure I noticed that the batteries were "One Key" but the unit itself wasn't. That seems really strange to me, and really leaves a lot of potential on the table, if they added the ability to view battery stats and set the auto disarm function off in certain situations, this product would probably be a fair amount better. That said, I'm not a fan of the one battery at a time charging, and no other way to charge the unit aside from AC. The product could be improved in so many ways, but here's Hoping that Milwaukee take this information on board and make a better unit.
Nice to see a Milwaukee review not done by shills who get free tools from Milwaukee.
Yup, this was a very expensive item to buy. Milwaukee would never respond to me after this video. I guess they couldn't take anything but a fake review.
Thanks for the review!
Some people automatically will think this is the best because of the name but thanks for pointing out its flaws!
This is exactly why you should get a small gas or a Diesel generator from Yanmar, or Generac.
Jeez - I thought this thing was going to be a least decent quality. Thank you for the review and saving us all some serious $$.
A solid review man, thank you. I don’t see not being able to use it while charging as a problem as you’ll obviously have access to 120 so why run through it? Also, I’m really hoping to use this for my six bank charger on new construction.
I added a charge controller inside unit and added solar plug outlet on the side. Like $50 to do conversion
The 80 watt thing after 60 minutes has been addressed. Contact Milwaukee and they’ll fix it for you. Also, plug in light still? Cmon dude, most people have battery operated LED work lights these days.
Nothing has been addressed, only rumored with no details. Sorry that I had expectations that I could plug things into this and it would power them. You are right if you only buy cordless tools and never use this, you will be happy with your purchase.
