Thanks! Only thing I'm still looking for is after picking my checked bags up at baggage claim at ANC, where do I drop them off when I walk over to the airport train terminal.
I really don't know. Our trip was chartered by Silversea Cruises, so they handled our bags. Thanks for the comment and remember: you won't get annoying emails or notices simply by subscribing-so please do!
Great video, exactly what I was looking for to see if its worth it. Cruising in mid May....... so, being a camera hound, should I set up base camp on the right side or left for the most photo ops? and is there ample opportunities to move around? we took the trans Canada from Calgary to Vancouver which had an outdoor balcony. does this train have something similar?
Thanks! Oooo, I like the idea of an outdoor space, but there was none on this train. You can easily move around, and neither side is better (or worse) for pix. Thanks for the comment. We’re so close to 1,000 subscribers. Please subscribe-and put us over the top!
I'm going on a cruise and got confused by the title of this video and with some of the info. Please verify the following. Alaska Railway has two departures one from downtown and one from airport. Downtown has Coastal Classic with regular cars with just side windows (regular seating) and Gold Service which has a Dome ceiling like this video but has an outside viewing deck, included meals, double deck etc. This is shown in the website that is linked. Airport departures are chartered by cruise lines use single story domed cars with table seating like this video but without meals and extra amenities It seems this video is the charted one and not the website. I might be wrong which I stated to verify. If what I understand is correct, I prefer to use the cruise line charter (like this video). Please let me know if I'm still confused.
I think you are NOT confused: we were on a cruise and this was chartered for ONLY cruise passengers. Thanks for the question and remember: you won't get annoying emails or notices simply by subscribing-so please do!
Dice you are correct... MOST of the departure are from the downtown depot - 411 West 1st Avenue, Anchorage, AK 99501, this train was chartered as a cruise package and only come to the airport as part of this package.
This looks amazing! When I look at booking the Coastal Classic on Alaska Railroads site, it describes the train cars differently and provides different pictures. Was this train discontinued and they've started a new one? The amenities aren't as cool as your video looks :(
Was disappointed to learn that Silversea had changed to a chartered bus to transport passengers from Anchorage to Seward for our June cruise on the Muse. We were looking forward to the train so we booked it ourselves.
Hi, Jo! If you watch the walk-thru, you'll see that all seats have the same glass top. Thanks for the question. We’re so close to 1,000 subscribers. Please subscribe-and put us over the top!

What month was this ride in?
This was in June. Thanks for the question!
Is this the regular seating or is the glass top classed as premium seating so i know what to book on the website?

@@TheNoNonsenseTravelGuide I wasn’t sure if you’d shown both levels on the walk thru they as I’ve seen photos showing the train had 2 levels
Nope: just one level!
