I kinda disagree. They are smiling because they live their life to the fullest. They live their life with no regrets. Even though they face defeats in their way, even though the world is against them.

So as a North German I can say that the concept of the Klabautermann has been around my corner of the world for ages. For the most part, their relation to a ship is much like the relation between a dryad and her tree: The Klabautermann is bound to the ship and his health affects the general state of the ship and vice versa.
They are the good spirits inhabiting a ship and they help in keeping the ship in an operational shape. They have an expert knowledge of watercraft and sailors would often leave food and drink for the Klabautermann of their ship, often in a remote location. Because there is one jarring difference between a Klabautermann and a dryad - none of the crew shall ever lay their eyes on the Klabautermann. He must remain unseen or he dies and ship and crew alike will be doomed.
This is just the best channel to expand your understanding of the series.

I'm not a big fan of agenda piece focused content that's why this one is perfect for me at least.
The Shinto connection is very interesting and definitely has a lot to do with the nature of the one piece world and while i think Oda’s choice to include the Klabautermann are influenced by that it is also a legend that originated in our world among sailors in the North and Baltic seas. Interestingly, while Klabautermann are seen as positive and carvings of them are used for good luck it is said that “Despite the positive attributes, there is one omen associated with his presence: no member of a ship blessed by his presence shall ever set eyes on him. He only ever becomes visible to the crew of a doomed ship.” which is very interesting considering the timing with when Usopp saw the Merry’s Klabautermann
If you dont mind me sharing, ive had a somewhat similar idea. That the fishmen have a tie to giants. I think the carpenters who will repair Noah are giants on elbaf for such a huge ship. I think the Adam tree definitely resides here and giants are the only carpenters who can harvest wood from it.
im interested in how Franky's wanted poster being a picture of Sunny could tie into the Klabauterman and animism. It's pretty likely we will get an explanation as these wanted posters rarely result in red herrings. Sanji's two posters being good examples of foreshadowing future plot points.
I think he'll literally merge with Sunny, with Vegapunk's technology he will be able to upgrade the Sunny and his own boby, for their final battle, Franky and Sunny will merge and become a megazord, then they will have a kaiju battle against San Juan Wolf.
Personally they could believe it's pluton or something similar, Franky was the only person to know and he built the ship.

The only problem is that objects are supposed to be limited to zoan fruits. So unless one or more of his fruits are secret zoans like the gum gum fruit then it's unlikely.
That doesn’t explain why Luffy and Zoro say « they » instead of « him » when they met Blackbeard

Since I recently completely randomly discovered your channel I am eating your videos with very much fun and interest. Please keep going! I really like how you connect all those hints and possibilities with things from around the globe. Oda surely did something similar. But it is really awesome to learn about all this things and ideas which come from our world made into this universe, Oda created his whole life. He is really an expert in giving just a little part of hint through the story to keep you interested and entertained cause you really don't know where he wants to head with this monstrous plot. :D
Oh and I also thought about this soul stuff since a long time. At least I would say there has to be some sort of counsciousness to work. But I don't want to think about a poneglyph who has a devil fruit. That would be just really weird.

Thank you as always for the incredibly thoughtful analysis! Something I’ve been thinking about with Blackbeard a lot recently is… has he ever actually “eaten” a devil fruit?
Something about what Saturn said about his experiments, combined with Vegapunk’s work feeding devil fruits to objects or even Big Mom getting her powers from eating a devil fruit user… it makes me wonder. He clearly did something mysterious with Whitebeard’s body that Oda hid from us at the time, and Blackbeard seemingly waited for Thatch to eat the Yami Yami no Mi, but what happens next takes place off screen so we never see him eat the fruit.
Also fun fact, the soul weighing 21 grams is a reference to a real life experiment that took place in the state where I live! As an aside, I’ve always wondered who, in the world of One Piece, discovered the weight of the soul in the West Blue. It may have been Hogback, but my head canon has long been that someone may have studied the body of the previous user of Brook’s Yomi Yomi no Mi
There are so many mysteries surrounding Blackbeard. An interesting theory I've seen is that he actually ate the Inu Inu no Mi, Model: Cerberus which makes him have three souls.
Another interesting detail is regarding the objects that ate a devil fruit. All of them possess the power of a zoan-type devil fruit. The Gorosei mentioned that zoan-type devil fruits have a "will of their own." I'm wondering what the connection between zoan-type devil fruits and souls is.
If I could eat a devil fruit, I would choose Kin'emon's Fuku Fuku no Mi to create cool clothes. Amazing video btw, much love

3:38 The way Dragon works reminds me of Vasil Levski from Bulgarian history. In terms of goals and way of achieving them they are very similar. Both being revolutionary who want to liberate an empire/the world, are very wanted criminals according to their enemies of course, stay hidden and have a very big web of connections. Most likely Oda didn’t base Dragon on Levski, but at least I hope Oda enjoys sour milk

Shintoism is so much like Hinduism. Same nature worship and every thing has it's own deity. Just like Shinto, Hindus too have lot's of deities.
Some similar Japanese (Shinto ) and Indian (Hindu) Gods and Goddesses:
1. Saraswati or Benzaiten (she's regarded as the Goddess of knowledge, speech, eloquence, and music just like Hindu does).
2. Kubera or Bishamonten(毘沙門天)
(He's also worshipped as one of the Shichi Fukujin as the God of he of fortunate warriors and guards, as well as the punisher of criminals).
3. Lakshmi or Kichijōten (吉祥天)
(She's worshipped as the Goddess of happiness, wealth and beauty).
4. Ganesha or Kangi-ten (歓喜天)
(Ganesha is often represented as an elephant-headed and is worshipped as the remover of obstacles, but when propitiated, he bestows material fortunes, prosperity, success and health.
5. Yama is Enma.
6. Garuda is Karura.
7. Narayana is Naraenten.

this might be really obvious but something related to my homestate of Kansas that I've seen in One Piece is the many refrences to Wizard of Oz (only partially related to Kansas but we claim wizard of oz as ours here). The Apoo, Kid, and Hawkins alliance (lion, tin man, scarecrow) Kaido even falls from the sky much like Dorothy and her house, to then rule over their alliance. During Jaya Bellamy references the Emerald City, which is never brought up again but he also mentioned el dorado and one piece which are both definitly real. Even many themes are similar, leaving home for a grand adventure in a mysterious and fantastical world with a band of diverse characters each with their own desire/dream. I don't think it will play a huge role in the story but it's interesting that Oda took inspiration from it. Chapter 794 cover directly depicts wizard of oz and there is also Oda drawings of dorothy tin man lion and scarecrow from the early Romance Dawn era.

I'd always want a Kumo-Kumo no mi, a cloud-cloud fruit. Even if it is not a logia, the clouds in this story are so unique from Pyroblin island clouds to Kaido's Flame Clouds, or even the Iron Clouds. I think there's so much crazy potential in this world.
Smiley being an example of eating two devil fruits would be crazy if it was confirmed! Such a thing has yet to be shown in the story.

Which when put into context implies how impossible it is for a human to read, let alone just anyone. Nico Robin must have photorealistic memory retention or a ridiculous IQ to memorize Binary and decipher the code into words.

This might be kind of funny but before we're were told that the Gomu Gomu no mi was actually the hito hito no mi model Sun God Nika under a false name and I guess the introduction of the giant straw hat in Mariejois, I used to believe that Luffy's straw hat would end up being revealed to have Joy Boy's memories, his soul or his devil fruit. And if it had a devil fruit, that's how Luffy would've gotten a 2nd devil fruit like Blackbeard. I thought this because we were told objects could eat devil fruits like funkfreed and lasso but after a while it seemed liked we stopped seeing it (at least so prevalent or of important objects) and I deemed it of such importance that why isn't it more used in the story. But who knows, maybe not Luffy's hat but the hat in Mariejois instead.
I also have a theory that the reason Saturn was able to bow up a marine’s head but hasn’t used it on anyone else is directly due to the guy being a marine. I believe that there’s a literal sort of contact you make in order to become a marine that grants the elders some sort of power over you. Like regular devils, they can’t do anything until you agree to it. So I think there something about signing up to become a marine that also literally signs yourself up to be at the behest of the elders, even if it’s just a paper contract. This would play in well to them being demons.

I’m at 10:44 in the video right now I would really like to have either Kaido’s Uo Uo no Mi Model: Seiryu or Kin’emon’s Fuku Fuku no Mi. The vast and overwhelming power and ability to fly of the Seiryu is too enticing or the unlimited amount of clothes I would have at my disposal are things I would cherish very much in my life.
I was just wandering about " Which fruit ? " a few days ago. I got 2 which i would like to have : Mori Mori No Mi ( imagine creating plant life anywhere, or turn any desert to a forest ), but the one i really like to get is the Ope Ope No Mi. The only way oda lets someone did is if their character journey is complete like when ace seen how much the people around him loved him and smiled at his death other examples are roger, luffy ( incase it don’t make sense luffys charcter was complete before we met him he’ll be happy as long as he’s not alone hence is backstory) or garp. Whitebeard didn’t smile as he died because he was kill by one of his sons and failed to save his others

You know as Indonesian apparently long time ago when we are still consist of lot of monarch country within our shipbuilding skill is second to none. Franky could use Chopper's fruit in Chopper's body back in punk hazard. Fruits most certainly possess the body and "lineage factors" will most likely play the role of what actually stores the DF. Matter of fact that also explains how vegapunk made the green blood he used for the seraphims.

Most already answered questions related to Myths so I will answer your other question: I would definitely go for the pika pika no mi or Enels lightning fruit. those 2 seem to me like the most useful and amazing fruits, as you'd be able to travel (and therefore think and work) at the speed of light, whilst being able to fly, multiply etc.

Me, WHAT?!! I got Into One Piece only a few years ago so this is shocking to me.... and amazing.
If I could have one devil fruit in real life, it would be the Shino Shino no Mi. If you had a flashy fruit, you'd probably end up drawing the attention of evil, powerful people, that would try to obtain your body for experimentation. With the Shino Shino no Mi you can hide large objects inside you when nobody's looking. If you used it intelligently, you could go far. If I had a second fruit like Blackbeard, it would be the brain brain fruit. That way I could put punk records inside my castle body, as well as all kinds of futuristic ground based weaponry.

One thing to note about blackbeard, through the story, his personality definitely changes and there are DEFINITELY scenes where he is missing teeth and some scenes where he has ALL OF HIS TEETH and even more bizarre, some other scenes seem to show him missing other teeth but the other teeth he was missing before, are now present. What the hell is going on with balckbeard? To my knowledge there are three versions of him in the story of one piece, and 2 versions of him are missing teeth but in different particular areas. Im no dentist, but i can CLEARLY see a difference when his personality changes and he seems to have a different set of teeth again but only associated with what he's saying/ how he is acting.
Dont beleive me? Go back and re read and prove to me i am wrong. The key is his personality and the teeth in his mouth. Oda is definitely trying to tell us something without actually saying it.

@@platypuspracticus2 I cannot be super accurate but it seems almost like sometimes he is fearless and "all in" for whatever he is doing.
And then sometimes there are times where he is actually super cautious and likely to run from any immediate danger almost as if he was a coward which contradicts the first one I mentioned.
And lastly I find his other personality to be somewhat like Roger/luffy where he has super ambition and seems like he is ready to do whatever to make stuff happen. A captain ish kind of personality. A leader somewhat.
I could be wrong but I know I watched a video on it quite a while ago so details escape me. But I'll post link if I come across it. I cannot take credit for this discovery as apparently many others saw this weird thing about Blackbeard before I did. (I'm observant but not as observant as some one piece fans. I'm talking OBSERVATION HAKI lol these guys know what's up)
His personality doesn't really change it's more his situation. he is over confident when he thinks he can win but often is in over his head and becomes cowardly when given unexpected pushback. We see it play out that way with Ace, Magellan, and Whitebeard. He even had a similar stunned reaction with S-Hawk. I think it ties into the aspect of gambling which he engages in. When he takes whitebeards power his crew says stuff like 'what if it doesn't work' 'will we have to break up the crew' basically saying bb is taking a gamble and being risky. Time will tell i guess but I think he just has contradictions which makes him all the more interesting and a good foil to luffy who is very self assured and never second guesses himself.

I think the implication is that Blackbeard hasn't eaten any devil fruit, but instead has fed them to objects. His jewelry seems most likely.

Before we knew devil fruits could reside within inanimate objects we were told there had to be a fruit nearby that it would possess. Somehow you can redirect where the devil fruit goes depending on circumstances, thus allowing an inanimate object that isn't a fruit to possess said devil fruit.

Yeah I think BlackBeard (Marshall D. Teach) has either 3 souls or has 2 other people inside him, I think his limit is 3 devil fruits but I guess we can only watch the anime to find out
my best theory for part of why zoan devil fruits can be fed to objects is because as a Gorōsei said, zoan's have a will of their own. But I think it is an animalistic will. which is why the devil fruits when fed to objects act like the zoans that they are.
Or it could be the soul of the object and the soul of the zoan mixing together?

My thoughts were more along the lines that zoan fruits would have a physical form of their own. One Piec3 is heavy on religion so holy trinity of the in a weird way. Zoan users have a mixed form where 2 of those would come together.
So if a cup ate smoke smoke fruit, it wouldn't have a form for its soul to fit into. The body
And paramecia wouldn't carry a soul.
