Well done for sticking with Thrustmaster, their wheels are so much better value than anyone else's...and the criticism that there's no LED is nonsensical, I never look at the steering wheel for revs, gear, etc. Nice to see some love for TM. BTW I have the T818 & it is a beast, I have to turn it down a lot :)
I seriously considered the T818 for my PC setup, if I could fine a good second hand one, I would probably pull the trigger...I had hoped the price may drop a little for the 818, now that the 598 is out.
That's a real good deal for that setup👍. I grabbed aT598 and im very impressed w/it. The wheel base size is very iver exaggerated though. It doesn't even go above the wheel itself. When mounted
I will be very interesting hear your T598 thoughts, I do think once some sims support it properly via patches, and Thrustmaster release new firmware, it will improve over time…I may pick up the base alone, if all the above is proved to be true.
Another old(ish) guy here, i've just bought my first wheel for GT7, it's a TGT 2 and i am more than happy with it. i bought nearly new from Amazon discounted by about 200 pounds quid and apart from a few scratches on the box the thing is brand new.! i will be sacrificing quite a lot of time to learning the ropes...... the controller is now dead to me.
I am in the market too at the moment, upgrading from my T300. I haven't decided yet to keep TM and go for the T818 or move over to Fanatec, which I consider safe to buy now again. I like the idea of having a transducer right on the wheelbase to add for those finer effects. Maybe thats a thing to do for any other wheelbase too.
TGT2 is an incredible wheel, very underestimated. Have it for 1 year and over 800 hours on ACC, still like when it get out of the box. But i will change the base for the T598, i couldn’t care less about the look, ain’t looking at my base while racing. If you keep up with TM , you should definitely get the Ferrari 488 wheel, its really the best wheel ever over at TM
@ oh. If you have the SF1000 , then dont look at it 🤣. I just would put 500$ (canadien) on the SF1000. I mean the 488 is almost half the price and 31 cm.
I can personally recommend the VEVOR WS-P02 stand for that heavier duty wheel. It's identical to the Next Level Racing pro wheelstand but it only costs £60 on eBay. New and delivered. I made a short if you're curious.
At the moment, I really think it is! - the T598 May overtake it if GT7 is updated to natively support the wheel and base, and firmware updates improve the ff of the T598…but for the time being, you can’t go wrong with a TGT2 👍🏻🏁
What makes the TGT2 base that much better than the T300? What features does it have aside from the transducer that makes it an significant upgrade from the T300?
I agree, the T598 is horrible! They need to change the designer in their R&D department. To buy a DD base and have a TS-PC/TS-XW base or one of Fanatec's belts, I'd rather save a bit more and go for a DD base with a minimum of 12Nm, even if it costs me 100€/200€ more than the new TM one.
@@gameplays1993 No, not at all - the looks were the first thing that struck me (and not in a good way), however I race a lot in VR on both PC and PS5, so the looks alone are not a deal breaker alone - the combination of small pedals/no load cell, and some lukewarm reviews re native software (sims) support, particularly GT7, and so-so force feedback, made my mind up - I have no doubt things will improve, this is early days for this wheel base, and software updates/firmware updates will no doubt improve things over the next six months. I will keep an eye on it, and once the wheel base becomes available to buy separately in the UK, I may well buy one...but for now, the TGT2 will suffice.
Well done for making this video, I am using the T300 RS with quite a few add on wheels and the TLCM was looking to upgrade but this T598 is badly designed way too tall for any practical use when placed on a rig half your screen is covered up!! They should have made a smaller version of the T818 and to hell with cogging the issues 😂
Never buy a used Belt driven System…The only Thing would be if you use it for a Short period. But if The Wheel is a few years old already force Feedback could be gotten worse already… thats The Problem with The belt wheelbases they lose power over time. And you dont know how often its been used… if you are unlucky every day.. you May Not notice it now but in a year.. and then you are annoyed Not spent a few Bucks more for at least a new one. And because of that The resell value is Bad aswell
Couldn’t disagree more as I just switched from the g29 to the T598. The pedals are nicer than I thought and the base is amazing. The weak point seems to be the wheel quality. Thrustmaster has other wheels available so no biggie imo
@ T598 will be a massive leap from a G29 for sure…not so much a T300, and from the reviews, in its current firmware/level of native support, a step down from a TGT2…the pedals will be better than your G29 pedals, but no match for TLCM’s.
@ totally agree on the pedals. Already ordered the TCLM set. I have driven other wheels just didn’t own them. I was about to purchase the TGT2 just before this released. I would of been happy with either one. The price was just better.

It certainly works well…Funny how other manufacturers have not tried it.
Damn a tgt2 is awesome for 280! That's a steal though you don't usually find it for that price.
Apart from a slightly bashed box, the thing looks brand new! - always worth keeping a wee eye on Amazon Warehouse for returns 👍🏻🏁
I have a TGT2 with TLCM Pedals and the EVO 32r leather wheel, I really like the setup! You made a great choice!
Thanks! - I am absolutely loving it so far…the T300 will be going on eBay at the weekend 😂
@@OldManPlaysDrivingSims How old are you? I will be 70 next year
@ 62…a mere whippersnapper! 😂
Good choice I love my tgt2. I’ve paired it with the 488 gt3 wheel and it’s awesome. I mainly play gt7 so it’s perfect for me.
Nice combo! I love the TGT2, forces are excellent 👍🏻🏁

6nm compared to 3nm for starters, new brushless motor technology…and more - it’s a massive step up from my T300 base.

It is, however an upgraded belt drive system from previous TM units…it is very smooth and gives fantastic weight and ff 👍🏻🏁

It is an Amazon Warehouse returned product, so not used much at all - the TGT2's are heavily engineered, pretty bullet proof wheel bases.
Yep the pedals look small and cheap. And the wheel is worse than a g29.
