I bought this with the black Friday discount and a big reason was the water proof pocket and the detachable component. I think the detachable component will be so useful for quick access to toiletries for use in airport or plane bathrooms, any bathroom with limited counter space. I also think it's nice enough to use for work.
Just found your channel looking for Monos reviews. So glad I did, this is the type of backpack review I was looking for (thorough with a sense of humor)! Always good to know when a bag is not brick or dropkick approved, lol.
I do wish it had easier water bottle access. The newer design is so much better because previously if you removed the front bag, the snaps looked so ugly !
I've used this bag for work and travel and it just didn't do it for me. I got a scratch in the first couple weeks of use. I struggled to get it under my seat with the front compartment on. I really missed having more outside compartments on the bag for things like an umbrella, water bottle, tissues, lip balm etc. When the bag is heavier I also found that the poppers on the handle kept coming undone and also struggled to put it on a trolley bag. Looked more aesthetic but overall I prefer a version north face day pack
Thank you for video. Trying to decide between this and the duffel is causing me so much angst. I think im more of a tote person. The duffel straps seem a bit too short to carry on my shoulder. I like the space that the duffel has though. So hard.
I have been trying to decide between the backpack and duffel. Leaning toward the backpack. I have the Monos carry on pro in that same terrazzo design and need to also choose a color. Great review, thanks Lexi!
I “borrowed” my sister’s first generation Monos duffel too, and here’s my take. The duffel holds more, if you’re looking for something to maximize your carryon only packing, the duffel is the way to go. Though I’m partial to the backpack, because I love that it can be used on top of the suitcase, to go into the office, or just as an every day carry around town. I’d love to hear which one you end up choosing!
Sadly I found it failed the drop test on all the pockets with the exception of the internal waterproof pocket. The bottom of the bag is just faux leather and no padding
Hi. Just found you. Good review. Could you say how tall you are? Looks like the backpack on top of the carryon plus is almost as tall as you 😅. I’m 5ft, so I really need to know
👋🏾 shucks, I had the suitcase propped up on a box to keep it in camera frame and didn’t think about how it would probably make them look mammoth to my fellow compact people. I’m 5’2”. From the ground the Monos suitcase comes to just above my knee. The handle full extended comes to just under my chest. The handle fully extended still has about an inch and a half of clearance when the backpack is on it.
I have this backpack, after a few business trips the felt pocket lining has pilled and degraded horribly. Submitted a warranty claim and their customer service responded after 3 WEEKS with a "nah, I don't wanna". Avoid this backpack, save yourself the hassle

Appreciate your video! Just received my backpack and headed on a two week trip soon. Your video helped me strategize. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!

So cool! I appreciate so much you challenge the capacity of the backpack. It is much more informative about his caracteristics and capacity.
It’s so important to show how you can maximize the bags capacity. Otherwise it’s just a pretty and expensive bag.
So glad I found your channel and I am a new subbie. You are just darling and love how honest you are and how you describe things.
Welcome! Thank you so much for following 😄 We hope you find us so valuable.

Great review. Thank you
Thanks so much for reviewing I think I’ll pull the trigger
So the inside pocket fails the “drop to the table” test, but what about thr main laptop pocket?
Sadly I found it failed the drop test on all the pockets with the exception of the internal waterproof pocket. The bottom of the bag is just faux leather and no padding

That sounds so darn frustrating! I’m side eyeing my lining, so far it’s held up, but thank you so much for sharing your experience with this bag
