I like the salad dressing gadget. But already have little dressing or dip cups that fit into mason jars (where you put the crackers or salad). Carry separately, then mix or serve when you are ready to eat.
The gadget reviews are my favorites. Unfortunately the Joseph Joseph trivet isn’t available through Amazon in the US. But I put it on my list. The salad dressing container is perfect. Thanks I do love watching.
I think the problem with the masher is that it doesn't have the right grip style. The masher you prefer allows you to push down with the palm of your hand, creating a straight line from your arm down, while the gadget featured puts more of a strain on your wrist. Now if someone were to take the locking/swivel mechanism and put two of them, one on either side, you'd have a gadget that would provide a foldable masher, but keep the palm based, straight line use.
Best series on youtube, had been so helpful in highlighting cool little gadgets helpful for disabled family and friends. Youre doing a public service Barry!
Hey cheers, appreciate that! I alwasy think there's no more gadgets left then another batch arrive / found in the box lol... great thing is this series has been around for Years and will always just sit here and do it's thing and hopefully help some folks out like you say, thanks a bunch, means a lot to me.
Funny you mentioned the trivet. The first time I saw you use that I wanted one and my daughter bought one for me and I use it daily. Space saver and so many different sizes in one gadget. Love it!!!! Great video!!
I think by "omelettes" it means Japanese rolled omelette, that one requires a square pan to make (you can kinda make it in round one, but it will be lopsided).
Pronking : (used of a springbok (= a Southern African mammal like a deer) or similar animal) to jump high in the air with straight legs and a curved back: Watch this incredible video of springboks pronking. The alpacas will play and jump - the young ones "pronking", or bouncing with straight legs
Thank you for explaining that. I came to the comments specifically to see if anyone knew what it meant. I know exactly what you're talking about, but I never knew that was what it was called.
That double bowl is awesome, I want one for wings!! I used a Corona "plonker"years ago when I worked in bars, great bit of kit when slicing 20 lemons and 20 limes at a time.
The small pan is perfect for a Japanese "rolled" omelette. You might give it a try. I have "egg pan" that looks similar (10cm, round), and I really like having something small to cook eggs without using a full sized fry pan. You're right that they feel 'cheep', but they work well (and if it breaks after a few months it is inexpensive to replace). My only complain is that it doesn't fit over a gas burner very well.
To solve the "doesn't fit over a gas burner very well" problem, you just need a gas ring reducer (sometimes also called moka pot support or hob trivet or something similar). I have one that looks like a small circle with four arms that go over the pan stand arms - this might actually be my most used kitchen gadget!
@@thesteelrodent1796 There are two different types: 1. For woks and other pots/pans with rounded bottome - these have raised supports that keep the wok upright 2. For small pots/pans like a moka pot (cafetiere) - these are flat and reduce the distance between the arms of the pot stand. They come in several designs but most popular are either a small circle with four arms going out that hook over the pot stand arms, or a larger circle with arms going in. I prefer the first style. Try using the keywords I mentioned in my previous comment and you should be able to find them - I can't post a link.
My 6 year old and I just finished all of the Kitchen Gadget Testing videos! We both have so much fun watching you and its gotten my daughter to want to cook with me!
Spot on about the child catcher from Chitty Chitty Bang Bang! I would not watch it for years and years because I was so scared. I like your testing videos. I have severe arthritis in my hands and always on the lookout for products to make things easier. I appreciate you mentioning that some products may help people who need assistance.😊
I bloomin love these videos! I've had the Joie sauce dispenser for a while, it doesn't leak and it contains just enough for 2-3 portions. 18£ for the pistachio bowl? That's theft! But brilliant idea.
Thank god somebody said it. The people out buying from Wish must have thought they were buying high quality items, but you set them straight. Maybe you can tell people about Temu a few years from now!😂
Handy hints for peeling garlic, zap your garlic in the microwave for about 30 seconds, it peels a lot easier, and dearest Barry, when pushing down on something, don't have it in the middle of the bench, have it closer to the edge, that way you can use your weight to push down harder, cheers from Melbourne Australia 🇦🇺
Hi Barry! I'd like to get your prep kit when it reappears, but I don't use Amazon anymore on principle (it's been at least two years!). Any chance there will be somewhere else they'll be available? :)
I always love those gadget videos. I think my fav is the potato ones, while it seems less sturdy it has 2 good perks for me: - the siliconey base cause i hate the sound of metal utensils on a metal pan, sensory issues are wack sometimes. - the gain of space obviously and the tangled mess of utensil drawers XD
Wait...Did my eyes deceive me or did Barry make a grilled cheese without buttering the bread beforehand?? That would definitely explain the burning and the lack of the signature toasty golden bread of a good grilled cheese sandwich. Also, one of the best things about the a grilled cheese IS the toasty buttery bread! For it me it makes the sandwich 100%! Now, I've known people that just add butter to the pan instead of actually buttering the bread, as a sorta hack to save a bit of time and effort, but IMO the best way to ensure a consistent golden toast through out is just to take the time to butter the bread evenly beforehand. (Heck, just to be safe throw a bit a butter on the pan as well, no such thing as too much butter lol) But I've got to say I've honestly never heard of anyone just not using any butter....except if they are using one of those electric sandwich maker things (sorta like a Foreman grill but for sandwiches) but even then, I recommend using some butter on them or else you're going to end up with regular toasted bread (which, hey some people prefer...No judging)
It would make me so happy if you finally hit 1 mil subs, you've been sitting on 900k for so long 😢 The amount of effort, help and joy in this you truly deserve it ❤
Easiest way to mince garlic is to peel it by shaking several cloves in a jar with a lid. Take out the cloves only and transfer to either a plastic bag or place between two Saran Wrap sheets. Then use your meat tenderizer to pulverize them. Even easier is to put a bunch of peeled cloves into a food processor, start on low, then slowly drizzle just enough olive oil to slightly liquify the garlic. Take that garlic oil combo and either put it in a silicone mini ice tray or drop by teaspoons onto parchment on a cookie sheet and freeze. Once frozen, transfer to a freezer bag or jar. You now have the equivalent of pre measured garlic in one or two clove servings and keep in the freezer.
Personally, I'm a fan of the wedger, and I could see how that could be used to mass-cut supremes(soo-Premms) for use in a salad, a jelly mold, or your own homemade fruit cocktail.
So I have one of those grilled cheese pans and I use them to make Japanese Rolled omelets. It's a pretty decent size to make those and it works out really well. I never really used it for a grilled cheese and don't really want to.
I just saw an opportunity for a game, cut up all the citrus you have, put in bowl mix. Now blindfold someone and they reach for a wedge and take a big Bit....fun.

My husband has tourettes and short repetitive motions like shaking paint cans, whisking and grating cheese set off his tics to a huge degree. That grilled cheese pan could double as a tamagoyaki pan, or making square fried eggs for sandwiches! So definitely not as single use as advertised.
That fruit slicer has given me flash backs working in spoons 😂

I find any multi-bladed gadget a bit of a faff to be honest. They're usually more effort to set up, and then take apart and wash, compared to knife.
I think that grilled cheese pan is made for American bread, which is a bit smaller.
