That was my first (and still only) car too! I hope yours is still running strong. Mine has ~319,000 miles on it. I imagine you may have fallen in love with it by now like I have, hahah!
The tether on the back of the rear seats are so that when you fold and tumble the seats forwards, you can attach the tether to a little tab on the bottom of the front seat to make sure the rear seat doesn't fall backward when you accelerate
2004 Honda CRV design and quality was the best. Here are the reason. 1) You can open the rear glass window in case you need to put some 8ft 2x4's in the car. 2) it was all wheel drive 3) the shape (boxy design) offered a great view and space with fantastic visibility all around. 4) best quality and made in Japan. Honda should seriously consider bringing retro version of this CRV. I hate the new ones with all types of issues.
I have a 2005, and they will NEVER bring this back and here is why... Its TOO reliable! They lose money if they make super reliable cars. Look at all the older generation cars i mean like late 90's and early 00's they they run very well as long as u took care of them. I once read an article that was about an Audi engineer trying to fix a problem with a part that was going out religiously every 3-4 years. He daid to the company heads "I have re engineered the part to be more reliable... The company said "NO we dont want to make more reliable cars if we did that no one would buy new..." Which i think is a crock-of-crap!! There always adding new features, tech, fashion design etc. But make the bones and the heart of the car reliable, and capable. Companys are NOW only in it to get paid not they dont care about quality anymore like they used too.
@@EPHONIC yes they did. The compressors were known to fail sometimes sending shrapnel into the condenser. Just replaced the compressor and condenser on mine with only 60,000.
Just bought my daughter a 2005 CR-V EX with about 295,000 miles. I was surprised at the condition. It was in excellent condition. No rust anywhere. Mechanically, it runs strong. No leaks. The only issue i found is not all doors lock and open with the key fob.
Love this car. You can even take off the headrests on the front seats, lean them all the way back and have a bed with your back seats leaned back all the way as well. Amazing vehicle for going camping. Couldn’t think of anything better
Don’t you know about the seat trick to turn them into a bed?? Take the front seat head rests off, slide it forward and then the seat leans all the way back and sits flush with the seats in the back creating a bed
Only certain versions of CRV I gen have the option of making a flat bed area by removing the headrests and leaning the seats back. In the CRV II like Lauryn's you can only lean back the front seats flat (once you had removed the headrests), the rear seats will only go about half way back, because of the rear wheel base, so no possibility to have a flat bed there, at least not for an adult person, more like a chaise longue, or 2 of them in fact.
Just bought an 07 crv with 235k well maintained by only 2 previous owners. It drives like new and i seriously cant wrap my head around how. Its my first honda and im excited to see how far I can take it
I've always found it cool that you can fit up to three spare tires in one of these. One on the back, one under the trunk floor, and one mounted under the vehicle (at least on mine).
Or four wheels in the boot when you're going to change over to winter/summer tyres. I have a 2.2ctdi on 210,000 miles and it's quite simply the best all round SUV to buy as a winter or second vehicle. No dpf on the diesel, unlike later versions. Huge carrying capacity, carlike to drive, absolutely fantastic on snow with winter tyres. Great ground clearance (skip the running boards). Supreme piece of kit. Wish I had one when I was Lauren's age.
I have a white '05 CRV and I have a white shell cover over my tire. I prefer the cover over my spare. It shields the tire from the weather and it just makes my CRV look more classy.
I have a 1st generation 2000 Honda CR-V EX (AWD). It still RUNNING and DRIVING smooth at nearly 280K miles. I like the 2nd generation Honda CR-V as well. The 1st generation (1997-2001) and 2nd generation(2002-2006) CR-V's are by far my favorites.
The metal piece on strap with cinch clip is for securing the back seats when you fold them down and flip them upwards against the front seat. If you look down under the backside of the front seats you will see a round metal tab that the end of strap slips over, then cinch tight so seats stay secured during travel. I hope this helps! We love the 2003 CRV my daughter bought as her 1st car. So many hidden treasures inside!
My parents just bought me a Honda CR-V and this review was very helpful! Thanks so much! (special thanks for including the table, i didn’t even know it was there haha!)
These are the best CR-Vs. I've had my 2004 for 12 years and its super reliable. My mom offered me her 2008 to keep and she would trade my 2004 for a new car instead a few years ago. i passed and I never regretted that decision even though the 2008 only had 50k miles vs my 120k the time.

Just bought a 2006 Sahara Metallic CRV 4x4 Special Edition LOVE IT. Had kinda high miles 178,000 but a rich old lady owned it her whole life had it in a garage I live in Ohio not a spot of rust and everything works great PLUS HEATED LEATHER SEATS . $4000 out the door. Happy Camper. It rides like a 5 year old vehicle.
So to lay the seats flat to sleep in the car: push the front seat all the way forward, take off the head rest, recline the front seat backwards all the way, push the seat so it’s flush with the rear seat. Then you can also recline the rears seats, 60/40 split so you can lay back. Hope this helped!!
Christopher S you are correct. The 1st gen can lay pretty much flat. The 2nd gen does the same in theory, just not as flat but for sure is flat enough (Slept in a 2002 CRV on a road trip)
Tire cover prevents UV damage to the tire. They are difficult to get back on, and hers may have gotten stiff, but it can probably be put back on. It's just tedious.
OMG. I had no idea the seats could fold then go up against the back of the front seats vertically! That makes a big difference for camping. Thanks for the fun video.
The front seats turn into beds, take the headrests off and push flat then recline the rear using the same tab you use to fold them forwards and you have two single camp beds

Had to come out to my 2004 Honda Crv Ex Awd and check it out for myself! The straps hook onto the outboard bottom seat track to a machine bolt to tighten down the seats when raised up. So cool.
I just bought a CRV from 99. Must be said i kinda wished i hadn't the next day lol but it has grown on me. Just watched this and been out to have a look in the back of mine.. sure enough.. I also have a PICNIC TABLE!!! I never thought i'd be so excited about my CRV but now i've decided i love it despite it's age and faults lol. I was gonna try and get rid but now i'm thinking how great it is i might do some proper maintenance on it and keep it. You have made my day with the table discovery.
I just bought a spare cover that's says Honda CR-V for like $15 in Amazon & i should receive it today...and my Honda is a 2003 Honda CRV just got it recently...new to it...
I like to hear that the CR-V is her first car and is a keeper! My first car was a 2002 CR-V (Pretty much the same) My dad was the original owner and gave it to me with a bad transmission so I bought a transmission with 60k miles and swapped them out. I drove it for a good bit but he gave it to me with a good amount of problems still on it and the cat converter was bad too, only 12 mpg. I was lucky however and found a very clean used one owner 2005 CR-V with the 5 speed manual with only 100k miles at my Honda dealership. I traded my 2002 (March of 2019) and I'm definitely keeping my 2005 because it's so practical and I love the manual transmission. I also managed to get over 20 mpg (around 22 to be exact) which is better than my 12 from the 2002. I love these 2nd gens!
Lisa T I paid around $500 for the transmission (shipping included) and I paid a friend $400 to help me swap it in. If you don’t know how to drive manual or prefer not to, I suggest to get the updated 2nd gens (05-06) because they went from that bad 4 speed auto (02-04) to the 5 speed auto and Honda made a significant improvement on those.
The picnic table is kinda cool but not as cool as the Motocompo minibike that stowed in the back of a CVCC from Japan in the early ‘80’s. My friend’s dad was a Navy pilot and was stationed in Okinawa where he bought one and brought it back to the States. It was rad! Shaped like a six-dot LEGO brick with handlebars and tires that retracted into the body.
Just bought one 3 days ago at 135k miles for $2,500 I did the CARFAX very late turns out it has more than 200k miles but it’s been serviced at the dealership for its entire life until the used dealer I bought it from sold it to me but aside from that I really love the vehicle I had sold my 2007 Honda Accord for it and went to a 2004 Honda CR-V the crv doesn’t burn oil shifts very smooth and it’s very clean inside
The crv seats can go into "lounge mode" slide the front seats forward, recline them all the way back, the headrests will be online with the rear bench, recline the rear bench all the way back and voila. You can sit on the rear bench, put your legs and feet over the front seat and take a nap.
This inspired me to buy my parents a 2005 CRV! They were driving a 1997 Nissan Altima that is badly rusted out because, Michigan... CRV is in excellent shape and no rust and I got it for $3000 after I managed to reduce the price down from $3,450. You can't find them from that year under 6,000 in shape I got this one.
@@17ledda Bit on a higher end with 178,000 miles but it runs perfect. I was looking into it quite a few CRVs and I kept running into them with 200,000 plus miles for 5,000-6,000 dollars the ones that were slightly lower mileage were quite bit more expensive and I didn't have that type of money to spend.. I like the look on this 2nd generation CRV a lot! I did find a first generation one with 120,000 miles for $2,800 but it has been selling for a year and it hasn't sold yet my thought was "there has to be something real wrong with it if it hasn't sold yet" From outside it looked to be in perfect condition except for a small crack on the windshield.
@@Aboleo80 I am also in MI and I just bought one from Columbus with 208k for $3100. Not much rust underneath. But I do have an oil leak. How has your purchase been holding up?
I'm 13 and my dream car is this exact car model (in white too)! If I cant get the white one, i will either get the silver, grey, or black one. The reason this is the car I'm dreaming of is because my mom also has this car but in gold. The wonderful things of her car inspired me to dream of it!
I read your comment, and thought "what tray? I don't remember a tray." This is actually my second 2003 CR-V, and I've not had it long, so I went to look. I discovered that while I don't have a tray under the passenger seat, I do have 6-disc CD autochanger that I never knew I had! The previous owner must have had it fitted. I would probably have found it sooner or later while cleaning the car, but thanks to you I can have extra music on my drive to work tomorrow. Thank you!
I don't know if this helps. but I have the exact same car. when I got new tires... I didn't realize my rims on the car is 16inch. the stock is 15inch. so the spare may be smaller then your actual tires
Thanks Lauren! I just got my first CRV, a 2006, and I’m absolutely in love! I’m a lifetime Honda owner, this is probably my 7th Honda and I will never buy anything else and I actually prefer the older models over brand new. I’ve been sleeping in mine full time for the past 6 weeks while I road tripped all over the western US and it was surprisingly comfortable! I’m back in Austin now and about to remove the back seats and try to build a platform for a bed so keep the tips coming.❤️
those strips is used when you fold the sits to the front.. so you use the strip to tide the sit to the floor and they do not fall back when driving the you car
Amongst the 12 Hondas I’ve owned, two were 2005-2006 CRVs and IMO opinion these were the best vehicles honda ever built… 88 Accord comes close but the CRVs will never be surpassed.
I just wanted to say Hi and hope life is treating both of you well it is May 2024 and it has been 3 years since I last visited you two and I enjoyed it just as much as the last time.
Hey ! I'm belgian and i have one too for my first car and it is a sooooooo useful véhicule , i put a Honda xlv 125 in this car and a xls 125 , she bring me everywhere i love si much this car . Ho! I got a trick for you ! you have to move the front seat forward as much as possible, remove the headrest, lower the seat as far as possible and you get a bed
Have you tried to open the back window with the key? There is also a button on the driver side's door at the bottom that does the same. Just be careful not to leave the key in the trunk when you flip the window back because if the car is otherwise locked, then you will be in trouble... :)
She is so cute would love to compare my 06 CRV SE and possibly even race against her if she’s up to it. I can also demonstrate how the rear seats fold out to a bed for 2 people at the same time also we use the picnic table as a poker table and I won’t comment on what kind of poker 😊
Also does Lauren have her own channel or a patrion if so please sent link. And I do have a gloss black cover it’s kind of a hard shell plastic with Honda in white letters
we same got for 2 years now and same like yours white but mine is 2003 i plan to repaint the bumper white so all same replace antenna to a stubby one budget stereo system and some minor updates. Aloha
It’s great for towing has a good speaker system depending on stereo manuals are best heating is very good and in case of them really hot days ac lol but power windows and sunroof I prefer the mk1 as cheaper on insurance and tax over here in the uk 🇬🇧
I thought the straps on the back of the rear seats is for the LATCH system. (Lower Anchors And Tethers for Children). Don't those straps fasten to the top back of car seats?
I just got rid of a 2006 Accord that was about to hit 290,000 miles and in the 5yrs that I owned it I replaced the serpentine belt and starter, that’s it. I’ve owned 5 used and 2 new and they are the best cars you can buy, you won’t regret it.
Ok, really crazy coincidence but literally a couple days after you wrote this message the transmission failed. Only 189K miles - seems quite premature for a Honda!
Could you show us how to get a bed with the seat front ..thak you...great vidéo....i decided to bye an old one ....i was chearching for a car for sleep inside and live few mounths inside and after some views of yours its convinc me....thak you all the comm too you help me a lot coz of your expérience and parent,'s too ....👍🏻💙
Lauryn is beautiful! The CRV looks nice too - lol! I have a 2003 CRV, Black on Black (think Batman tumbler) with over 210,000 miles and it runs great! I should give it a name too... I just tell Honda to "take care of my baby" when I take it in to get the oil changed :-)
I think I got a cheap replacement wheel cover off Amazon, not as good as the original but it does the job. The original covers shrink over time so that eventually you can not zip them up. I've owned my CRC for 15 years now, it's an amazing vehicle and drives as good as the day I bought it.
2004 was good. 2005-2006 was better. It’s a shame Honda went to the 1.5L turbo in latest versions. Crazy decision. The AC compressor is only weak spot in the Gen 2 and 2.5 CR-Vs.

How many miles was on it?
@@17ledda It's great so far my parents are really happy with it.
She is gorgeous and her personality is just as nice!
She’s a lovely girl.
I'm 13 and my dream car is this exact car model (in white too)! If I cant get the white one, i will either get the silver, grey, or black one. The reason this is the car I'm dreaming of is because my mom also has this car but in gold. The wonderful things of her car inspired me to dream of it!
I just learned from you guys that my seats fold down and up. I feel like I have a new car.
I noticed you didn't show the drawer under the passenger front seat- it's my favorite place to keep snacks :)
i just discovered that a couple of days ago lol!!!
I’m back in Austin now and about to remove the back seats and try to build a platform for a bed so keep the tips coming.❤️
have you ever tried folding the front seats back into a bed?? it works really well!
Pictures please
We have 2005 and love it, but no camping yet,no much room. Can you show pictures on how to make a flat surface for a air bed? Thank you.
The CRV is a sofa with wheels
The old Simca 1301/1501 and the early Suzuki Ignis had picnic tables.
Really lauren 8' 4", Dude she's a keeper, I my self have a 07, and although we never get snow. I have never lost control in the rain
I like how she has ramen 🍜 under the table 😂
The back glass opens up also
Dayum, love that trunk!
those strips is used when you fold the sits to the front.. so you use the strip to tide the sit to the floor and they do not fall back when driving the you car
Amongst the 12 Hondas I’ve owned, two were 2005-2006 CRVs and IMO opinion these were the best vehicles honda ever built… 88 Accord comes close but the CRVs will never be surpassed.
CRV rules,Nice video.
Ho! I got a trick for you ! you have to move the front seat forward as much as possible, remove the headrest, lower the seat as far as possible and you get a bed
those straps in the back could be used for many things, probably securing something from bumping around back there.
I get 3 29” mountain bikes in the back. Front wheels off. Great for trekking about.
A Honda family 👪 that's 💯 %cool.
Take the headrest off front seat fold back the rear seat then fold back the front seat all the way and you get a pretty comfy bed
I’m not sure but I also have an 04 crv and I think they’re just to pull the seats up or maybe they’re for a car seat. Just a guess.
Also amazon has spare tire covers for pretty good prices. I got one for mine off amazon for only $15
we same got for 2 years now and same like yours white but mine is 2003 i plan to repaint the bumper white so all same replace antenna to a stubby one budget stereo system and some minor updates. Aloha
It’s great for towing has a good speaker system depending on stereo manuals are best heating is very good and in case of them really hot days ac lol but power windows and sunroof I prefer the mk1 as cheaper on insurance and tax over here in the uk 🇬🇧
I'm so proud having this car ❤❤❤
Hi I have a crv if you move the drivers seat to the front and remove the head rest it will lay down and the back seat do to so it like a bed
yo, free carwash guy righttt over here
We would like to see more videos starring Lauryn and Leroy.
I've got a whole Lauryn playlist if you want to check it out. Sadly Leroy has since bit the dust
@@DrivenCompanion sure , I'd watch that for sure , what replaced old leroy ?
Try pulling the handle down on the top of the back seats the pull the seats all the way down
I thought the straps on the back of the rear seats is for the LATCH system. (Lower Anchors And Tethers for Children). Don't those straps fasten to the top back of car seats?
I want to ask if your air condition unit is working?
Yep
Mine is 17 years old and freezes you in Jamaica. Hows that for working..lol
I just got the 2004 crv only yesterday. I haven't met my table yet?
The straps hold the rear seats forward when they are folded all the way down
The cover doesn't fit probably because she bought a different size tire than what originally came with it.
Or once my spare had in too much air for the cover to fit. Remove excess air...viola cover fits.
Does Lauren still have her 2004 Honda?
Cover is my preference
I want a crv but the newer one look ugly and idk if I wanna deal with the issues of buying an older one
I just got rid of a 2006 Accord that was about to hit 290,000 miles and in the 5yrs that I owned it I replaced the serpentine belt and starter, that’s it. I’ve owned 5 used and 2 new and they are the best cars you can buy, you won’t regret it.
It's a cute vehicle but lets ask the important question, how reliable is the automatic transmission on this 2004 crossover ?
Haven't had any issues on this one but couldn't say how they are on a larger scale.
Ok, really crazy coincidence but literally a couple days after you wrote this message the transmission failed. Only 189K miles - seems quite premature for a Honda!
Could you show us how to get a bed with the seat front ..thak you...great vidéo....i decided to bye an old one ....i was chearching for a car for sleep inside and live few mounths inside and after some views of yours its convinc me....thak you all the comm too you help me a lot coz of your expérience and parent,'s too ....👍🏻💙
Does anyone know to open the window at the back door?
You forgot to open the rear window. I think it is a good feature.
V handy when using a tyre compressor from the rear cigarette lighter
@@Anrirua Yeah, we use it very often and we love the picnic table, most people laugh when they see us taking out a table from the trunk.
the 05-06 looks the same but has an extra gear in the trans....lot more usable
Lauryn is beautiful! The CRV looks nice too - lol! I have a 2003 CRV, Black on Black (think Batman tumbler) with over 210,000 miles and it runs great! I should give it a name too... I just tell Honda to "take care of my baby" when I take it in to get the oil changed :-)
I drove my crv2006 UK to India in2014 without any problem
Sounds like a sweet trip!
I say cover, covers look way better, not sure if you shop on wish, but I’ve seen tire covers on wish & Amazon
I got one off ebay for £7 + £1 postage. Only thin but fits great and looks great too 👍 181575052617 is the part no.
I think I got a cheap replacement wheel cover off Amazon, not as good as the original but it does the job. The original covers shrink over time so that eventually you can not zip them up. I've owned my CRC for 15 years now, it's an amazing vehicle and drives as good as the day I bought it.
Pulling out a table cloth.... clutch!
I'm about to get a 2003 Crv EX with 168K miles stick shift for $3000
Kool I have a 2002 Honda CR-V 🥰
I have a small collection of CRV tables.
The Honda CRV is not 4 wheel drive, it's all wheel drive. There's a huge difference.
which is better?
And the back door window open also.
My 04 crv came without the table I had to put a piece of wood the freaking table is efin expensive :(
For your sphere tire cover you can buy a cover made of wood for Honda crv
What !? I'm off to have a look !
I love you Lauryn!
don't we all?!
2004 was good. 2005-2006 was better. It’s a shame Honda went to the 1.5L turbo in latest versions. Crazy decision. The AC compressor is only weak spot in the Gen 2 and 2.5 CR-Vs.
You should do a car rebuild mike the views and subscribers people are getting is crazy. DIY gang- Samcrac- B is for Build- Tj hunt . These channels are growing at a mad rate. What do you think?
The only issue with this is that I would need to be mechanically inclined
Mike C You get so much help from people’s messages it’s quite incredible what you can achieve. If you could get a mechanic friend to step in with knowledge now and again as well. And anything else can be handed to a professional.like painting etc. You could learn so much from taking the plunge. I can just see it now. Unskilled UA-camr rebuilds car episode one I need your help.👍 Samcrac got 2.7 million views for each R8 video and he constantly asks the public for advice. Look at what DIY gang Is doing 70k subs in weeks and his build is ridiculous. The thing with car builds is people get completely engrossed in each video viewing them until the end and your algorithms go crazy. I want to see you fly like your brother. You can do it mate. Samcrac helps the Strad bro👌. Message Samcrac and ask for his help in buying from copart
I own one of these and a 7th gen civic hybrid and the gas mileage on the crv is very bad!
That is to lock the seats down so they don’t bounce around
Those straps on the back of the seats are tie downs to secure a load of stuff so it wont move around.
Regálame una crv mi hermano 🥺🇬🇹🫂 que Dios te bendiga muchísimo a ti y a tu familia 🫂🇬🇹♾️
My first car was a 2002 and I named her Peppa c:
