I grew up in Oxford , Wi and I kind of grew up in Wisconsin Dell's . Seeing this brings back so many memories of the endless trips and tours we took there and also Tommy Bartletts Water World and ski show . It's also nuts that this tour that you gave is nowhere close to everything it had b4 and makes me bummed out to see this is what it ends up as . Thank you so much for checking it out and your videos though . Really fun watches .
Growing up i always had a blast at this place. It was a lot more fun than the ski show. People say its out of date now but 10 years ago it was the cutting edge of curiosity.
It picked up after the space station. Had me a little concerned there at the beginning. Once they move it to the clearance aisle at Spencer gifts it’s no longer worthy as a museum exhibit LOL
It looks like they ripped out the best part of what was left of Robot World. No more elevator to the space station? I loved that part. It made the entry fee totally worth it.
As someone who grew up 40 minutes from Wisconsin Dells and has been to Tommy Bartlett Robot World at least a dozen times. They've added a few attractions since I was there last a year or two ago. Also the Watershow is still a thing in the Dells. Went there with my little brothers schools end of year trip 2018
Oh, wow, I thought that place was long gone. Went in 90’s when it was Tommy Bartletts Robot World and Exploratorium, I had the whole place to myself as the town was empty since it was after Labor Day. Cool!
Grew up going to the Dells every Summer back in the 90s/early 2000s and used to be in awe of that place as a kid - sensory overload at its finest. Without all the robots everywhere (C-3P0 and R2-D2 were the guides!), the exhibits look very random / out of place / dated, most especially with the MIR Station still there. At least there's a few robots left to enjoy now - even though they look ancient!
Robot world was a huge deal for me as a kid. I still love robots. I wondered whatever happened to that place. I wish you could have seen it in it's heyday. It was a little cheesy, but wow- the robot guided tour was just amazing. Anybody remember the coin operated gunslinger game in the concession area? I collect coin op oddities, and have been looking for one. That one was the only one I ever saw in person.
That looks like a fun place to go. I think it's more important to have fun and challenge yourself than if you win or lose with these games. Your not going win anything if you don't try it and you lose more times than you win. You have to learn how to lose before you can win something.
i was there 20 years ago and i have to say i think it has gone downhill. it was much better as robot world. good to see some of the robots are still there and the MIR station. of course that one never went into space. 3 were built, 2 survive as you said. the 3rd was in space and eventually burned up and crashed coming back to earth. so it no longer exists. but all 3 were identical. i will sadly miss the old robot world. i didn't know they changed it like that. tragic really. thank you for sharing your travels in the dells. i appreciate it.
This was one of my childhood vacation staples when I went to the Dells on vacation as a child! I went back in my teens or 20s, but it wasn't the same. I did ride the bike, which was awesome! They had a Gyrotron, which was the best ride as a kid! Was it not there when you visited? Thanks for bringing back memories!
this is incredible, i haven't thought about this place since in forever! i last saw it when i was 8, in the late 80's! the outside was silvery, i believe, and looked like a spaceship, and that blue robot at the entrance used to be a c3po knockoff, he talked to you in c3po's voice! but i remember him looking more like c3po.. maybe because i was 8. lol The games weren't there, the whole thing was barely lit and spooky with animatronic robots everywhere that talked to you and sang etc, like in the video at the beginning. There was a really cool space elevator too. I remember the two robots you could control and the musical flower and music wall, we used to jump around in there like rabid monkeys. X'D i didn't see the gyroscope outside so i'm assuming they took it out. :( It's so amazing seeing all this stuff again!! i'm a little sad how much is gone but i'm glad there's still some remnants of what it used to be and that it's still around and doing well! thanks for the memories, sir!
A cute place, but you should check out The Exploratorium in San Francisco. It's also meant for kids, but more science-based and truly interactive. [edit] The Exploratorium has been moved since I was there 30+ years ago. Going by its UA-cam videos, it's no longer geared toward the elementary-school-age crowd, but now has a lot of information and entertainment geared toward high school and up.
You probably couldn't get those puzzles because you only have one hand to work with.🤗 BTW, have you seen those insurance commercials featuring Zoltar? I think your videos may have made him a star.
I visited the Dells several times during the late 80's and 90's....I was heartbroken when they got rid of the Robot World tour for this cheesy science museum. Except for possibly the outdoor car-lifting display and the tightrope bike,it looks like they haven't added anything new since my last visit.
Mir burned up in the atmosphere. Humans have never brought back a space station. It's either a replica or a trainer model (although, it does look unrealistically spruced up)
Hey Jacob I live in Des Plaines Illinois if you're coming through on your way back from Wisconsin maybe you have been already who knows I'd like to buy you dinner cuz I think you're really good vlogger and enjoy your videos I appreciate what you do
it's not very robot-e! they need bring in some battlebots like son of whyachi since he lives in Wisconsin, also that would be awesome if battlebots had their own museum. also I would have ❤ to have seen robot world back in its hey days.
I went to the Dells with my parents when I was about 3 years old. For the longest time I thought I hallucinated this place
It always amazes me that you never run out of videos to post. Love your stuff!
Most of it looks out of date...... but still looks fun.
Coffee in the morning and TheCarpetbagger have become my routine
This would be something to do when you are bored. I really appreciate you Jacob for doing what you do, thank you very much 💜

Just doing everything there is to do in wisco!! Love this! Theres so much cool stuff in Wisconsin.
The Aurora Borealis? At this time of day, at this time of year, localized entirely within a robot museum?
Awesome Simpsons reference lol
...yes!
@@nickrester ...May I see it?

I love the Dells. Tons of great memories from there when I was a kid.
Growing up i always had a blast at this place. It was a lot more fun than the ski show. People say its out of date now but 10 years ago it was the cutting edge of curiosity.
I remember going to Robot World so many times on family vacations. It was the place I always lobbied for!
It picked up after the space station. Had me a little concerned there at the beginning. Once they move it to the clearance aisle at Spencer gifts it’s no longer worthy as a museum exhibit LOL
Hey that’s where I was born and raised. Whew, I could tell you a lot of gems around there
It looks like they ripped out the best part of what was left of Robot World. No more elevator to the space station? I loved that part. It made the entry fee totally worth it.
I went a few years ago and the whole thing was linear, but i dont remember much as i was terrified by the robots

You should check out the band, "Captured by Robots". The lead singer/guitar player, an engineer, built his bandmembers .
I remember going to the Dells 30+ years go. As a kid, I thought this place looked so futuristic, but never got to go in. Good review Carpetbagger!
Oh, wow, I thought that place was long gone. Went in 90’s when it was Tommy Bartletts Robot World and Exploratorium, I had the whole place to myself as the town was empty since it was after Labor Day. Cool!
'90s*
the old robot world exterior looked so much cooler.

Last time I went they still had the robot show. Kinda sad it’s not there anymore.
I love the exploratory. It one of my favorite things to do when I’m in the dells
Lots of fun and very neat!
My family and I went there in 1987 when I was 10 and my brother was a baby. Good memories, even though all the robots we saw then are now retired.
OMG!! I am from the area and used to go there when I was a kid!!
I've been there when it was Tommy Bartlett's Robot World back in the late 80's.
COOL! I live near by and have never been there! Interesting place. Fun tour! Thanks Jacob!
Tommy Bartlett also opened a watershow in Pigeon Forge. :-) It then became Porpoise Island. :-) How cool love any WI tie to TN. :-)

I had fun watching this video, Jacob! You always have great content and amazing places to go!
I remember going to Tommy Bartlett's water show in Pigeon Forge. I saw the Oak Ridge Boys in concert there.

I like the infinity mirror room and the MIR, anything space related is cool.
About the Mir Space-station: There is actually a third one. Its located in Europa-Park in Germany.

So bad it's good. Most tourist traps.
This place is cool.
Next time your in NJ you should visit Digger Land.
Also revisit wildwood. You missed tons of stuff due to the rain.
Tic Tac Toe!
Funny! I was just there yesterday
Good work by me! I spit out my drink when he said that lol
Looks so different from when I went a few years back
You did better riding that bike then I would!
This place is quite similar to the Think Tank, which we have in the uk
You can stay at home and send the bagger robot....🙄🙄🙄🙄😊
Hey you're in Wisconsin you need to get in touch with Crazy Bob and George the Goose!

If youre still in Wisconsin you should stop in Phillips and check out Concrete Park :0 it's super unique and I've never seen anyone cover it.
Welcome to Wisconsin! Have you bern to little bohemia? Worth checking out
Technically you are in Lake Delton. I was up there today and missed you again.

You'll have to change your name. Tommy Bartlett is dead. Now owned by Tom Dehl.

Am i the only one who sees that robot in the thumbnail as a stitch

Amazing wish your wife could have made it , I bet she would have had s great time.
I wonder how they got the MIR. Russian Science and Surplus?
This MIR was a earthbound training station. After the end of the Soviet Union they needed money and put it up for sale.
