Thing I like about Trevor is he has a passion for something that isn't universally liked by many people. definitely a important part of history and cool to see someone have the desire to keep it alive.

Hi, Trevor's friend here. He has indeed become a full-time circus performer after having studied clowning in Paris under the great Philippe Gaulier. I'd say he's now fully a part of the industry!

I was born in Barboo and when I would go outside to play I’d see the elephants across the street playing in the river all the time. My mother actually dated one of the performers and part of his act was to pretend to get stuck in an elephants butt. Needless to say as a kid, I was grossed out haha but the memories I have there are forever priceless ❤️ My aunt would always tell me this elaborate story how she knew where the secret ringling brothers mansion was in the woods. I’ll never know.

Trevor did an excellent job! I love how he brougt a journal that he wrote in, as a reference. He was very prepared and professional. I wish him the best with the circus, but if things don't work out, he could easily become a circus historian, and write many books on the subject.

Not really. From what I saw, this museum has shows and they use animals. And the barnum and bailey circus is coming back this year. Also, there are other circuses that are still in business (Like Shrine, Garden Bros, Carson and Barns, Royal Hanneford, Carden and more) and other countries have circuses too. Oh and there's also circuses that don't use animals at all. If you're interested, then go ahead and look it up. 🎪 🤡 🐘 🦁 🐅🐎 🦒 🐻 🐒 🐕 🐫

This was just great. The actor/Director Charles Nelson Reilly was a child in the audience during the Hartford circus fire. He talks about it on UA-cam. Even though he spent his career in theater there were times he couldn't be around an audience because the sound reminded him of the circus fire.

7:30 Carpetbagger kinda missed Trevor's point. People related to and identified with the poor and the downtrodden-that's what they felt like. Clowning further exaggerated it and put humor in performances so people can figuratively escape from a dismal economy. It wasn't about poor people making fun of poorer people. It was clowning to bring someone to light who was one of "us" and lightened the mood

We have a monument here in St Thomas Ontario devoted to jumbo. 1885, The story goes was he was crossing the tracks but got spooked by an on coming locomotive got spooked and got dazed by the headlights and charged at it, got hit so hard his tusk got embedded into his brain which killed him instantly. But PT Barnum made a cover up story that he sacrificed himself saving a younger elephant and got hit.

Hey!! When I worked on the Batman show, at Great Adventure in Jaskson, N.J. we had a cannon that we would shoot a rubber Robin out of.
One day too much power was put in and rubber Robin went flying over the big tall frence!!
We got a call from the Fire Station across the street from us, they said ; " If you're looking for Robin come over here."
Robin had flown up & over and came to rest right beside a tire of one of their fire trucks.😁

How did circuses start? The wagons are gorgeous. It's amazing how all the wild animals and human beings lived close together every day of the year. They made it glamorous although it must have been tough living that way. That's why they call it show business. The unicycle rider is super athletic - how does he do it? 🏆

    Had ALOT of fun!!
Since I'm watching this in March 2020 and we are in the trying times of a virus pandemic & we have to do the 'social distancing', meaning stay inside, stay away from folks I made a model of a Drive In.
Took a roll of fake real looking grass put it on a chair, made fenceing out of paper, took hamburger box's to make the main part of the place where the film room was, the place where folks could use the rest rooms & buy pop-corn & candy & drinks. On the roof of that building was an open seating arangement where people sat in their chairs. (Chairs made from clay, people made from clay or paper) A paper roof over the seated folks.
A paper main road was in front of the Drive Inn & to the left is the hamburger box's where folks pay to get in & next to that was a small eatery/ice cream/cotten candy place. Just mostly windows drawn to make it look like folks were inside.
For the 'big screen' is a curved phone he screen amplifier (You can order on line from an app WISH for under $10.) You put your phone on a platform that's attached to the screen with little suction cups are. The picture is enlarged & clear and looks kind of like 3 D.
Sounds crazy to do? Well I just call it ALOT of fun. I've made doll houses for years. One day I'll make ALOT better version & real model Drive In.
With this scary times pandemic going on it's fun to do something to take your mind off what's going on.
    Stay safe!!! God bless!!!
Then I put some of my box cars & accupple small buses.

Jumbo the elephant was hit by a train in 1885, in St.Thomas, Ontario, Canada, (about an hour away from where I live) which ultimately caused his death with minutes.
In 1985, the town erected a life-size statue to commemorate the centennial of his death.
It is a constant reminder of by-gone days when the circus came to town by train & wagons.
I remember when I was a kid about 10, the circus came to our town. The trains arrived first & started setting up, then the next day the caravan of trailers & wagons arrived with the animals & performers. Lions, tigers, elephants, camels, a bear, & ostriches. I really remember the camels & ostriches because after the 3-ring show (it was amazing!) we didn't have any money to enter the side show tent to see the animals so we decided to sneak under the tent. We stuck our heads under the side of the tent (very heavy canvas) & almost got stepped on by the camels. After a "holy crap" moment we took a good look around but a worker spotted us, started yelling, & coming our way. I'll bet you never saw two kids run as fast as we did, hop on our bikes & ride like the wind all the way home! We were terrified! I guess it was because my mother always told me that the gypsies & circus people would steal you & take you away! & I was not allowed to go to the circus that day.... but I went anyway. & I was never able to tell my parents what a great time I had at the circus that day! Those were the days huh!
I have been to the Florida museum when it was still up & running back in the early 70's & then again after it turned into the museum. Thanks for the wonderful tour Jacob! Very informative. Love it! *****

It's too bad the circus went out of business, I enjoyed it as many times as I saw it. If P.T.Barnum was to see it disbanded, he'd roll over in his grave and I'd imagine the Bailey brothers too and the Ringling brothers too
