Nice Video! I would argue that taking the deploy enlist (1 coin/mech)before the recruit enlist(1 combat card/enlist) would be better as 1 coin=1 point and if you enlist early you can get as much as 12 coins/points only from this enlist( most reliably 8-10)

A suggestion for your elevated play video: Revise your conclusion of the math in this game :).
Stars are important because at the end they count as money, i.e. points. But that's the "why": Money. That means your 3 - coin option on your board is nearly a star all by itself... and one you can (and should!) Hit over and over again. Getting advanced at scythe is sifting through all the fun "game options" and zeroing in on 3-coin engine building. Which is why the Factory is so powerful: You can acquire another 3-coin option! And hitting it will give you movement (territories count for end game money, too).
This is a fun video, but it hides the lede. Moving quickly early in the game to grab encounters and getting to the Factory are what most often leads to creating the strongest mid-game and late - game coin engines. If you can hit your bottom row coin engine again and again, you rack up your own stars.
Seeing how to "develop" your board to make your 3-coin spot less resource intensive is a vital early game analysis.
"Star power" equals "coin power." Make your own stars. Bottom row coin efficiency is the bank that wins and first to the Factory gets a massive lift to that.

We do mention how money is a factor, as well as how working on higher coin options is also good play. That said, spreading your forces out too far makes producing resources risky. It also requires you to worry about what hexes to produce whenever you take a produce action. If all your workers aren't working when you produce, something's not quite right...
Stars are a means to victory in regards to helping newer players focus on getting each of the 10 categories to completion. A game where you're one-off on finishing a bunch of categories is not a good game played on your end.
A few factory cards do provide a means to earn coins. Not many though... Also, the ones that provide you with some bottom action (mechs, buildings, recruits, or upgrades) typically do not provide you with coins as well.
Also, if you consider how resources themselves are victory points at the end of the game, you can see how at higher popularity levels, they turn out to be fairly close in value. Of course, coins are safely locked up victory points, but you might be better served branching out towards getting another star on a category that provides slightly less than 3-coins per bottom action.
Finally, while getting to the Factory is nice, it's not for everyone. Rusviet Union certainly can make an early factory happen, and they're best positioned to spam the heck out of a strong Factory card. Also, getting there first means you'll be defending rather than attacking when someone else comes along. The fact that attackers wins on ties makes it a tricky proposition!

      Love you guys :).
(Shrugs). 6 stars is worth usually 24 coins. You'll need at least 50-75 more coins against good players. That's... a lot more than 24 :). Not sure how strong your play groups* are, but the better the players, the more you discover what a financial game Scythe is.
*(There's a clever joke about Dubai and Money-making, but I can't figure it out without sounding like an a-hole ;)
Glad you guys are back making videos!

@@SaniFakhouri you totally don't get it. Money is not a factor, money is the ultimate goal! You need to control planning and risk/reward. I give an example. In end game, I had two options : a set of three actions { - 1 coin, +4 coins, +16 coins (yeah, crazy action with two stars involved in it)} or a set of two actions {+4 coins, +8 coins} with no follow up. I took the second option and the game ended after two turns. (I won by the way, leading with only one point). The second option was very appealing but catastrophic if the game ended after just one turn (possible but not wanted by the player able to do so, the last player around the table even if with the most stars) and not worthy if ending after two turns (doable by the second, maybe first, player around the table, the sens of who win is not always obvious). Planning and risk /reward.

Yes, getting a factory card is overrated. Twice I finally got there and the choices were not worth the time and effort.

I won a relatively recent game as Black, versus two experienced and one new opponent, with two stars, neither of which was combat. I stayed tight, got to max power, built all buildings, eventually forced somebody to abandon the factory since I would have a sure win, claimed it just before the opponent after me ended the game and I won by three points. (He was right to end. One more turn, and I would have had three more stars -- combats and an objective card -- but for this turn I was sitting barely into tier 3 of popularity and so couldn't fight yet.) Basically leveraging the cold war threat of black without any hot war is what won it for me.

The part about combat is a bit weird. It's all mind games. If the attacker can always win ( ie has at least 7 power and a card) the defender knows they will probably lose. They can then choose to give up 1 card or 1 power to get a new card. If the attacker suspects the defender might do this, they can try and take the cheecky win by spending just 3 or 4 to grab the win. If the defender suspects the attacker will do this, they can spend more and get the win. In general the attacker won't risk it tho, so the defender might as well save their power. It mostly depends on the situation. it's best to be unpredictable and don't follow one strategy every game when it comes to combat, especially when playing with the same group more often.

I have no respect for stars. All this game is about COINS! I won a game with 3 stars. A star is 5 coins (more or less). If two actions lead to one star, and two others lead to 8 coins, obviously I chose the second option. I have absolutely no respect for stars. Except if one action leads to one star (rather difficult to have one single action worth more than 5 coins) or a set of actions lead to almost same coins value but a star with it (because finishing the game denie some points to the opponents). Pretty bad start. Let's see the rest of it.

Can't watch this at all. Music sucks and buddy on the right won't stop moving erratically for crying out loud. Also when his partner in the green is speaking buddy is just waiting to interrupt and throw the word "sexy" in there again.
