An argument in favor of taking the four blues: Yes, it is true that there were currently few whites and blacks. However, you are guaranteed multiple turns to come. Since there were so few blacks and whites now, it is increasingly likely for them so show up later, no? Thus, making the four blues the best/long-term plan?
This strategy is really sub optimal. The red tile sucks because it's on the side and you have opportunity lost to point off of it later. Getting tired in the inner ring. The strategy for this game should be dependant on trying to have at least every tile point both vertically and horizontally. And only taking tiles that entirely fill a row.. Rows should be thought of as how many turns it takes to fill, optimally one being the best
Interesting. Question: in the first scenario here, there were 10 blue tiles out. That means there are 10 blue left in the bag. They are more scarce. So he opted to take the red instead. I wonder why that is better. Shouldn't he have taken the blue tiles? I don't see why not taking the blue is an advantage in that scenario.
This video pretty much encapsulates why "standard" side is lame. On the advanced side, *any* different-color opening strategy will lead to the beginning of a center column. This opens up subtle decisions about tile frequency that might affect chances of getting second columns and/or 5-of-color. In addition, same-color strategies (two or three same-color rows on the first round) are sometimes right, to stake out a color domination. The advanced side makes that strategy more viable by giving you flexibility in which colors to fill the gaps with.
I am in disbelief that you two would go out of your way to create a video over “strategies and tips” on one of the most uninteresting, unpopular games ever to be created. The fact that you spent 16 minutes trying to give in depth detail on such a mind numbing game is beyond me. I’m shocked.
Good to see you back!
Good stuff, guys! Keep em coming!

Genetics: The boardgame you 'really' want to win ;)
Ain't that the freakin' truth.
Thanks! Helpful and enjoyable 😊

This video will not play for me. Plays for 5 seconds then buffers forever. Tried multiple times
Anyone won the game with 167 points?
First!

Alek D this game won a Spiel Des Jahres award and it’s also continually in print showing how popular it is.
It was game of the year and is a great and easy to learn game. Guess YOU just couldn’t understand it.
Apparently you are either a teenager or an idiot.
