OMFG - first American in world history to pronounce Yorkshire and Worcestershire correctly! Huge kudos ladies... Lovin the channel - keep doing what you do. New subscriber from England.
Well it did take some time to learn 😉
Thanks for watching ❤
Not really.
Wuh-ster.
Not Wor-cest-shure.
Just two syllables.
I think they do get it right in later videos, though.
Bubble and squeak is made all across the british Isles. Marmite is an acquired taste. x
That bubble and squeak looks perfect the burnt bits are always the best!
Thank you! I'm so proud of Debbie! She's such a great cook, even with dishes foreign to her ❤
@@TheNatashaDebbieShow A good source for British + recipe's on the tube. Start with Gordon Ramsay, Delia Smith and Nigella Lawson. As a bonus "Rick Stein's Cornwall", for food, Cornish culture & scenery.
Bubble and squeak with a soft fried egg on top!!!! in Ireland it's collcanan with more cabbage in it.
@@lizbull4009 do you have a recipe for the Irish version? We NEED to try it. Also how do you pronounce that? Thanks!
Bubble and squeak is not usually directly made, at least in my family.
We make it using the leftover vegetables from a big family meal with cold cuts of meat.
Cuts down on food waste and makes a lovely meal.
Bubble & squeak is usual made from left over mashed potatoes and cabbage. When it’s slightly burn, it makes it better.
The burnt bits of bubble n squeak are a must .it all adds flavour
Now we feel better! Thank you!
That would be ‘crozzled’ bits.
We want more..... they are amazing .....two lovely people.... i learned a lot .....and i am British !!xxxxxxx
When I was growing up as a kid garibaldi biscuits were called dead fly biscuits. With Jaffa Cakes I eat the chocolate first, then the sponge, and finally the orange jelly. Good video.
Fantastic video 👏👏👏👏
Debbie, as you clearly are an accomplished cook. Once you have Yorkshire puddings nailed, get some good herb sausages and attack "Toad in the Hole" just smashing with onion gravy.
Absolutely Russ!
Toad in the hole with onion gravy and mash
23:37 thats odd cuz over here in the UK amarathon bar is what we used to call the snickers bar untill we adopted the same name for it
WE WANT MORE!!!! 🇦🇺 The world needs raw, authentic, and fun channels on UA-cam.
There’s already way too much fake and negative content around; so it’s fantastic that you seem to be sticking around.
It’s a year, so hopefully you’re here to stay.
Bubble & Squeak is a great use of leftover vegetables from a previous roast dinner. Quite traditional on Boxing Day. The day after Christmas! One of my favourite meals with cold meats, pickles and pickled onions. We often call Garibaldi biscuits; squashed fly biscuits! 👍
Yep, squashed flies! But very nice biccies, always liked those as a kid.
Bubble and squeak is best on Boxing Day for breakfast with bacon and egg 😋
“Dead fly biscuits” are McVities fruit shortbread.
We want more, I love the banter between you both ( the way you interact with each other) lovely couple
Whots
it’s catch in your teeth leaving one with an. Orangy craggy smile. So saying.( in an earlier life!),
I was an antiques dealer. Whenever business was slow I would munch on of a packet of the said same Wotsits. Sure enough, things always seemed to get busy with customers seemingly arriving in fairly large numbers .... Me with my awful smile trying to discreetly gently suck the gloop from my teeth without giving too large a grin, nearly always somehow managed to make some good sales !!!! Heers ,cheers to WOTSITS. !!!!!!!! Sent with all my usual love, Jo, from Wolverhampton, in Wolverhampton in The West Midlands. xxxxxxx
I’m from the midlands and quite frankly piccalilli is allowed on anything! Sandwiches, salad, burgers, especially with cheese!also try it on a scotch egg. thanks for reminding me I had some in my cupboard, just had a chicken and piccalilli sandwich!
Good to know we didn't break any rules! So we can happily continue on with our new love for Picalilliy sandwiches! Thanks!!
Agree i am from midlands too. We eat it on and with loads of things.
tayto is an irish brand they weirdly also make cheese and onion flavoured chocolate
I'm a Brit living in Canada for the last 15yrs, and watching you two lovely ladies reacting to UK destinations and food snacks with such enthusiasm makes me miss home 🏡 . Love your videos, keep em coming girls. New subscriber here. Thanks
Did anyone else call Garibaldi squashed fly biscuits? Try custard creams excellent with a cup of coffee or tea.
Hiya, We definitely Want more. You Two seems so genuine, honest and down too earth ladies. Very impressed that you actually made the scotch eggs. Hope too see you again soon. Best wishes too you both.
I just found these American couple try British snack videos and now I'm hooked great job ladies😀
Marmite actually goes really well with the American peanut butter on toast great mix , it also goes well with cheese in sandwich.
Bread and Butter Pudding ( Chef James Martin's recipe also uses melted white vanilla chocolate and bourbon custard ) delicious
Hello, it was me who recommended the Digestive with butter and cheese and your more than welcome, very addictive isnt it ?
You are MY Hero!!!! Thank you!! 😊
I love them with just butter on them
Scotch eggs are normally eaten with your fingers, no cutlery needed..
Bubble and squeak is named after the sound the cabbage makes as it cooks. You can put any vegetable leftovers from the night before in it as long as you use potatoes and either cabbage or brussel sprouts.
Typically after Christmas dinner
With jaffa cakes all I remember is the advert 😂
Full moon, half moon, total eclipse 😂
The teacher..... was french???
I'm new to your channel but as soon as I viewed one of your videos, i ended up going back and viewing the others. I have to say, I have really lived all the content and what a refreshing couple. It was so impressive that Debbie took the time to research and make the recipes. You should set up a PO Box so that subscribers can send stuff for you try becsuse the 4 countries of the UK have such varied tastes. Even in England the meals differ from region to region.
Joan, thank you so much! You're very kind! We appreciate you! ❤🇺🇲
Okayyyyyyy Debbie i see you you tried for your first time and Natalie is always hyped as usual 😂😂😆😆 Debbie is more calm, collected and reserved.
You ladies are lovely!
I've not seen many of your videos yet but I will get through them.
I very much like what I've seen so far.
I hope you keep up the output.
Oh and Hello from Oxfordshire, England.
Thank you so much Ray ❤
@@TheNatashaDebbieShow
Wow!
Thankyou for responding!
Looking through the comments I didn't see anyone mentioning that bubble and squeak was traditionally made from the left over vegetables from the Sunday roast dinner as a way of not wasting food. Didnt know if you were aware of that just thought you may be interested.
I hope you gals are well, best wishes xx
@@raylaye2884 oh trust us, about 100 people did mention it LOL. But we enjoyed it. However, Natasha is a full blown Scotch egg addict now!! 😳
@@TheNatashaDebbieShow
I like the occasional scotch egg, I must be honest your scotch egg looked better than any I've ever seen here!
I'd reckon yours is superior to ours!
It looked perfect.
Bubble and squeak or just bubble was made with left over veg from the Sunday roast
Should try making toad in the hole, which is basically Yorkshire pudding mix with sausages instead of whole sausages in our house we cut them up. We serve with mash potatoe served with beef onion gravy but obviously you dont eat beef.
We thought about it but since I really don't like sausage, we didn't think it would be fair. 🤷🏼♀️
@@TheNatashaDebbieShow true sorry
When we were kids on our summer holidays from school we always wanted lemon curd sandwiches for lunch….just beautiful😋
Great job on the cooking. Marmite is best used on hot heavily buttered toast where it is spread very very thinly. You can also add it to casseroles where it adds an extra umami depth of flavour.
I've tried it a few ways now Andrew, unfortunately I just can't get my tongue to appreciate it 🙃
Impressive scotch egg and bubble, bubble and squeak is lovely with a poached or fried egg on top.
We definitely want more! Honestly, this was your best video so far. Debbie was much more animated and talkative than in the two previous videos. I especially liked that you actually made two dishes. I'm wanting to try the Scottish eggs as well as the bubble and squeak. Brussel sprouts are one of my favorite veggies and they are in the cabbage family. Great job! ❤️
Hot buttered toast with Lemon Curd on! Yummy! 😋
Really enjoyed that. Thank you for the video
Aw thank you for letting us know!
Look up “The Hairy Bikers”, whose shows across the UK would give you a really good insight into really good British food. I’m sure it’s been mentioned elsewhere, but Chicken Tikka Masala is probably our national dish now… Failing that, just some open chips on Brighton beach with a decent drench of salt and vinegar on a cold blowy day is close to heavenly! For your Irish ancestry Natasha, try some colcannon. Then there’s always The Full English for breakfast - you can’t go wrong.
Your scotch eggs & bubble & squeak were spot on. Agreed that the burnt bits are the best.
I love Marmite on toast with melted cheese on top.
Vanilla or mint ice cream is nice with shortbread
We want more👍🏻 another great video ladies. Your cooking looked great. Agree with others, a cold scotch egg as finger food is great, though for a change up if guests coming as a starter, soft boil so still runny centre, then cool in fridge before making into scotch eggs. Fry as normal, serve hot on salad greens and enjoy the runny yolky mess as you cut open. Yum!
I remember as a child having piccalilli sandwich spread, the bits were cut much smaller.
You got the shire/sher spot on.
Keep it coming
Thank you Nick! 😃
Hi, I love watching you young ladies doing thing on your videos. Thank you for making them.
I have just subscribed because you are both entertaining and lovely people. So the message is clear: We want (demand) more!!
Flattery will get you everywhere! 😉
❤❤
Watching from Sunderland in England, your trying some of our lovely deli experiences.. Great watching you both, keep it up.
Amazing job of making the scotch egg. May I suggest you make Yorkshire puddings and gravy, or even better, toad in the hole.
We want more.😃
Oooh Toad in the Hole is a classic
Don't think she wants anything in her hole as she said she doesn't like sausage LMFAO
10/10 for the bubble&squeak
After you said you hated the Twiglets I had to hide behind my sofa when you tried the Marmite. Cheers from the UK!
🤣😂🤣😂 wish we had too! Lol
You were a tad generous with the Jaffa cakes. We used to call the Garibaldis 'squashed fly' biscuits. Twiglets top the list with Scotch Eggs but I usually eat them cold as a snack.
Piccalilli is MADE for sandwiches! You did that perfectly. I am so hungry now! I love your taste test videos.
Thank you! We still eat with some sandwiches 🥪 😋
Piccallily was developed in India from the days of the Raj, when Brits developed a taste for curry flavours and brought them home. Kedgeree is another example. Brits love curry
I am a huge Anglophile. I live about an hour from you in Greensburg, IN. I am obsessed with the UK section at Jungle Jim's. LOL. I'm loving your videos! I became obsessed with the UK when I was researching my family tree and did Ancestry DNA. I am 52% Scottish and 21% England and NW Europe, and 9% Welsh, so about as UK as you can get . Haha. It's so bad I pretty much only watch shows from the UK. I even drink more tea...Yorkshire Tea I get from Amazon. Anyhoo, keep going. I love them and you all are cute as hell.
Don’t forget, we dip our biscuits in tea and coffee which is why they are harder than American cookies.
Biscuits are from a foodstuff that has a nautical past. Hard tack is a hard baked biscuit that had to be dipped or soaked usually in gravy. Uk has more butter. Herseys has buttermilk hence the sour taste. Scottish eggs ain’t Scottish
Twiglets are a drink party snack with marmite type coating.
I love bubble and squeak my parents made it for tea bk in the 70s 🤩 love marmite spread very thinly on toast for breakfast and a lovely cuppa tea ☕🤗 piccalilli is actually a relish for cold meats to put on a sandwich 😋 lemon curd 🍋😋 I love love love lemon curd again on toast or for baking 👌 I'm a born and bred Lancashire lass ( Greater Manchester) in England UK 🇬🇧 I think you ladies are so entertaining and funny and so much 😂 respect for liking our nation 🇬🇧 thank you 🤗
"We want more"..definitely. Irish potato bread and soda bread are highly recommended, especially with bacon and eggs. Yum 😋
Bubble and squeak, is typically made with the left overs from a Sunday lunch, it was a way to use up leftovers.
Keep going I have enjoyed ur videos so far and enjoy ur love for my country, u guys are fun to watch xx
Thank you so much Sara! 💓
I'm from Nottinghamshire and we eat mushy peas with a mint sauce. 😋
At Goose Fair
@@tld7195 not this year unfortunately. 😫 We have them on bonfire night too.
Love your channel ladies. Lemon curd is usually used to make lemon curd tarts, my gran baked them every week. Look them up. I’m a Yorkshire lass…keep it up 🤟🇬🇧❤️
I bought some Marmite as it was thirty years since I hated it last and guess what, it'll be staying in my kitchen cupboard until the end of time.
You made that scotch egg…that is soooo impressive…love the videos xx
Thank you so much!! 💓
Ideally, for the perfect scotch egg, you want it soft boiled, so the yolk is still runny even after being fried in the breadcrumbs.
Lancashire Cheese & piccalilli sandwich . Absolute classic, match made in heaven 😊
We want more :) Scotch eggs are best cold. I must say that for a first attempt, those scotch eggs looked absolutely world-class and amazing. Stay amazing you guys. Love from Yorkshire.
Thank you so much!! We've now had them hot & cold. Gotta say, I personally prefer them better hot. But both ways are good. Thanks again for watching and your kind words! ❤
Here we can get gourmet scotch eggs with different casings. Chicken and chorizo is good
Scotch eggs are otherwise known as pocket meat and should only be eaten cold.
@@TheNatashaDebbieShow . My girlfriend and I make our own scotch eggs too, yours were perfect.keep it up. 🇬🇧🇬🇧
Can't beat the squeek using up the Sunday roast veggies on a Monday
I put Marmite on roast potatoes (before you roast them) and it’s lovely on cheese on toast melted or even on cheese & crackers. Bubble & squeak is delicious 😋
Must try that, it sounds good, ta!
Try sauté potatoes with a little bit of marmite 😊
I am from Yorkshire and you got the pronunciation spot on! 🏴
That bubble and squeak looks perfection. Also Debbie making it yourself 😮
Another great vid. Traditionally bubble and squeak was cooked on a Monday using any left veg from Sunday roast
We want more! Yes, please.
The Twigglets are good with the Marmite ladies!❤
My two favourite ladies!!
Bubble n squeak, is popular in England. It can be made with Brussels or cabbage along with the potatoes. Plus Debbie having the crispy bits makes it better. We have normally with breakfast with bacon, sausages. ANF a lot of people would put a fried egg on top.
Bubble and squeek is normally make from a Sunday roast left overs the day after xx
But don't include the meat.
Bubble and squeak traditionally is beef and cabbage. Not nowadays but it's worth looking up the history
We want more!!
Yes, more videos please!
The batter you use to make pancakes is what you use to make Yorkshire pudding you put flour eggs milk and a pinch of salt in a bowl mix together and put it in a cupcake pan and put it in the oven
Marmite is a brand name, so on the Twiglets packaging they can't say it's Marmite, they have to say yeast extract, which is what Marmite is anyway. A marmite is a French cooking pot, there's one on the label of the jar. 😋
Picalli is awesome with ham or corned beef in a sandwich
I love when people try snacks from other countries. Guys there used to be crisps in the Uk in the 70s and 80s called Tudor crisps and they were made in Newcastle and omg the flavours were delicious, you could get gammon, sweet and sour, cheese and onion, beef and onion, smoky bacon, spring onion, ready salted, prawn cocktail, pickled onion, tomato sauce etc and they were so flavoursome and tasted great. I bet a lot of people in the comments will remember these crisps. Walkers bought Tudor over in the 80s but the taste of walker's crisps is nowhere near as good as Tudor. Great video 👍
The best way to have shortbread is dipped in a cup of tea and please try the scotch egg cold x
Your face when you ate the Twiglet! 😂
And yes, they are coated in Marmite. Those two things are the devil’s work!
You cannot hide from the evils that are the TWIGLETS! lol. Yuk
@@TheNatashaDebbieShow My partner loves Twiglets and Marmite, I hate them both. I don’t think anyone is indifferent, people tend to have strong feelings either way, so much so that Marmite incorporated the love it or hate it theme into their advertising.
@@ffotograffydd that's fascinating! Now I gotta go look up a commercial!
@@TheNatashaDebbieShow There have been a number of them over the years, but this should give you an idea. ua-cam.com/video/RG14sDcaJM0/v-deo.html
@@ffotograffydd that was HILARIOUS!!!! 😂😂😂
Only just come across you two today and been watching your video for around the last 5 hours! Keep up the great vids 😀
You can put a spoonful of marmite in a cup and drink it, or add it to stews to add a meaty flavour without using meat.
Your twiglet reaction was spot on. Ghastly things. 😂😂
Bubble & Squeak is perfect with the crispy bits but really is amazing with HP sauce on.
Ok, we'll have to try that! Thanks for the suggestion!
Ketchup or Branston pickle. It's a good way to get veg into kids as it's disguised 😉
That’s the only way! 👏
What about making a shepherds pie. It is ground lamb with vegetables cooked in a thick gravy(not the southern style milk one)and topped with mashed potato and grated cheese. The top is then browned in the oven.
We've had Shepherds pie. It's not uncommon here in the states.
this is really good and unlike a lot of videos like this you've gone to the effort to cook stuff which makes it more interesting :)
In typical American fashion our motto is "Go big or go home!" Thanks for your kind words! 😊
Well done you two, that was a good challenge.
I love Marmite, it’s a by product of beer brewing in the UK and instead of wasting it-they make Marmite.
My only criticism of the whole video, is that you didn’t put enough on!
I love the stuff and spread it very thickly on bread or toast. It’s also good on hot crumpets.
Piccalilli is also great in a cheese sandwich, again I put tons on.
Hi from Manchester, England. We use Piccalilli on sandwiches too, it goes particularly well with Cheese.
I'm really enjoying watching you both and hope you make more videos. Tony.
Hi Tony!! 👋
Thanks so much for your kind words! We plan on 2 videos a week. Wednesday and Sunday. Make sure to subscribe and turn on the notification bell. Thank you so much for watching ❤
Piccalilli goes on ham sandwiches. Branston pickle on cheese :)
@@Microman6502 piccalilli,perfect with a proper pork pie :)
As a kid, I used to like Digestive biscuits with butter and strawberry jam.
We want more. Loving the videos. I was born in the UK but raised in the US. So I see these videos from both sides lol. Some other British meals to cook and try Toad in the hole (basically Yorkshire pudding sausage), Sausage rolls, Cheese and onion pie, would say Sheppards pie but not sure if you eat lamb. Also need a can of tomato soup for the Cheese and onion pie. Also you should do a video tasting hershey milk chocolate vs Cadbury Dairy milk. Just make sure you buy a reall Dairy milk and not one made be hershey.
Loved the part with the Bruselsprouts(sp) late at night sorry....had me rolling my late spouce Richard was the designated cook, well he loved to cook, and I can't I've tried. But that issue with you all brought back countless memories of after probably1000 times he said after I gorged down a meal, he would always say "I" didn't like this or that and hid it so well I literally just accepted my taste buds were changing as I grew older. This brought back so many fond memories of My last 2 decades! Yall Ladies rock!
Just discovered you two and love watching you - Debbie is obviously a less talkative person naturally but Natasha you are a born presenter! If you are not going to eat the marmite on toast try using it in cooking - it adds a great depth of flavour to spaghetti sauces and chilli's.
Scotch egg always needs salt & the ideal time to eat Bubble & squeak is boxing day(26th dec) with cold cuts as it's a way to use up left over veggies
I like that you made some of the food yourself (unlike most reactors) as most of the mass-produced or tined versions are usually bland keep up with the reactions
I love Americans try British food vids, but what makes yours so good is that they are so natural and relaxed, and I love that you made some of the food yourselves!
We want more, If you get the scotch egg just right making it at home, you can have it hot with a runny yolk, which is amazing. marmite is great spread very thinly on toast with beans or melted cheese or both!
The chicken flavored crisps are the base of a classic sandwich : white thick bread + lashes of butter + plenty of crisps +ketchup . Squash it all and have with a strong cup of tea. Luscious
We want more! FYI - Lemon curd (and other flavors) are sold at the Produce Market near your house. I used to use it as a middle layer in cakes...or to fill the inside of cupcakes. Makes for a nice touch and looks and tastes extra special.
What!? We didn't know that! Thanks for telling us! P.S. for anyone reading the above comment, that's not our stalker, it's Debbie's sister. ❤
it's good stirred into plain yoghurt
From Scotland and just discovered your channel… lemon curd is also good spread on digestive biscuits.
Picalilli with the scotch egg would be a good combination,, as it contains the English mustard you mentioned.
We like them so much as they are, I think the picalilly would overpower it
Hi Natasha 👋 Hi Debbie 👋 it's Nikki from Liverpool 🇬🇧 loved watching you both taste test British snacks/foods. 😋 you need to get a PO Box so we can send you stuff to test. Keep up the good work oh and by the way I hate Twiglets and Marmite too 😫
marmite is great for adding that umami taste to stews etc especially for vegetarians-we also use worcestershire sauce mixed with cheese and toasted-welsh rarebit!
