  • This is our first time ever using a trangia spirit burner, we are very impressed with the result

Nice recipe, I have a trangia for my fishing weekends, it is great. If the bottom of your pans get a bit sooty whilst cooking, you can eliminate that by mixing 10% water with the methylated spirit and it does not effect the heat at all.

It´s always nice to see someone making a satisfying meal using the Trangia cookset. I own the 25 and 27 and I´m happy with them.
    Have fun with your Trangia.

I’m of the belief that alcohol burning doesn’t emit any bad gases. It’s only poorly burning fuels which do.

Yummy you can get one of those butane single burner stoves for inside cooking. They are like a normal gas stove inside. Have fun stay safe.

Yes I think indoor cooking is much needed once the weather is really bad.

The alcohol burner is fine for indoor cooking as well. I have done plenty of indoor cooking with it to test new recipes. A well ventilated area is required for both gas burner and alcohol burner.

True. They have insert gas burners which work well with both isobutane *and* regular butane (about half the price of the former, if you shop carefully. There’s an adapter you need to run regular butane, though.)
I’ve found I can get a *low* simmer easier with the gas burner in the -27 I have.

Great vid. Got my knock off "Trangia type stove" from a notorious online place starting with Ali and ending in press. Seems really good but I'm now going to have to buy a real Trangia just to compare the two! Might as well have bought the real thing in the first place!

A full dinner for three , with a side order of full Yorkshire. Absolutely brilliant. I am definitely buying one of these cookers, was it the 25 or 27 model? Greetings from sunny Derbyshire.

-25, or -27? I have the latter, gas burner as well as the “brass doorknob” (sometimes the forest service doesn’t permit the alcohol burner, and the gas simmers a bit better) and am slowly getting a full travel-kit together.
Haven’t *yet* needed to cook at home with it, but that’s the other big reason to have it - longer power outages…

The apples are a surprise. I think I prefer rice more savory than sweet

I wish Trangia would make their simmer ring more accessible.

Maybe glue a small magnet onto the pan handle
