DEFINITELY, great quality 💯
Thrilled to hear that you were impressed with the play model! I just ordered it :D
Hello from Milton Keynes...seriously THE best badminton racket review on UA-cam by far. Keep up the good work.
Helloooooooo ✌️✌️✌️
thanks CK, this is an absolute honest and great review!
Glad it was helpful!
That video opening. Awesome stuff 🔥🔥
Haha! Glad you liked them 🔥🔥
I love the in depth reviews, keep them up
More coming soon 😘
Tnx so much for the review quality content as always love your comparisons as they are so helpful
Glad you found them helpful 😊
I was just about to sleep thinking about this video, uploaded just in time. 😀
There must be something wrong with UA-cam as it's scheduled for release in a few hours but glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks CK. I am from Myanmar.I played badminton back in around 1995, with Carbonex 8, one of the best rackets back then. Since then I haven't played for 2 and half decades. Played a few time back in 2017 in NZ. Now, I start playing again, mostly for health benefits. I bought two base model, 99 play and 88D play from Thailand, cost around $100 for 2. I am very pleased for what I paid for and what I get. And thanks for the reviews, it helps me to get the right one. Cheers!
Aww that’s amazing news!!! Glad you’re enjoying badminton again! 😊😊
Decided to buy the Astrox 99 Play with the Aerobite boost at 25lbs . Thanks for this one!
Glad you found it useful!
Just got my 99 play today😄 bcoz of ur review😍
Great 👍!! I'm sure you'll love it!!
Buying a Play model then! tried the game model and was confused that it is light headed compared to the Arc 11 game. Good thing you described specs spot on.
Thanks for making the video. Very helpful, I'm going to buy Game
Good choice!
Was waiting for this review. Apparently the Tour models for 88, 100, 99 won't be available in India. So will go for 88D pro as it's heavily discounted now ( around 45% here). In the description you have mentioned Lee Zii Jia was using 99 pro(Cherry Sunburst) which is a good observation. I also saw Kento Momota using unreleased Powercushion 65 Z ( maybe Z3) shoes.
Omg go for the 88D Pro if it’s heavily discounted! And yes the Z3 is delayed due to export/covid delays from the country of manufacture.
Hi Praveen can you let me know where I can buy 88D pro ?

Can u do a more indept review of badminton strings?? maybe make a vid on versusing the similar series line up of badminton strings, like doing a vid of BG 66 Ultimax vs BG 66 Force or Nanogy 98 vs Nanogy 98, i think it will be a great content for the channel. Amazing vidss as alwayss keep it up 👍👍👍
Hell yeah i go with 99 play series,superb 👍👍
Niceeee!
Just bought the 99 Game White Tiger. I have strung it with BG80 Power at 28lbs.
Thanks for all your detailed reviews. I have the 88D pro and love it. I've the Astrox 99 which is a sledgehammer as you mentioned. I'm looking for a cheaper racket as a backup and thinking if the 100 Game or the 99 Play after watching your review, what's your thoughts? I'm playing doubles and I like smashes and tight net shots.
I think you should get a backup 88D Pro since you loved it that much.
@@CKYew whats ur take between 100 game vs 99 play?
Thanks, it's very informative
Glad it was helpful!
Hi! Loved the video, and your set! Looks amazing! Have you tried the 88D Play? Is it as impressive as the 99 Play in terms of value? Thanks!
Hellooo, thanks for the support! I've not tried any other Play rackets except the 99 atm.
I have been using the play version strung with bg66 ultrimax and 30lbs .. quite good and nice feeling when using it ..

Hi CK yew, great video as always.
Does the astrox 99 pro have the dual optimum system?
No. It’s a mistake on Yonex.com. Good spot though 👍
I am just going to say, do a blind test for yourself and see which one you perform the best for the longest time with. I ordered all four in cherry colour, 4UG5 and put on my standard setup on them all (24/26lbs bg80 and overgrip on top of plastic wrapping). With each one I played at least one set in singles and doubles.
My final choice was the GAME. It has for me the best medium flexibility for my game and the head heaviness is just right.
The Pro was just way too stiff for me that I couldn't consistently for the entire match generate the power to make long and high clears under pressure (normal clears are fine of course).
To me the Tour and Play were similar to the Pro, that means for me not playable at all.
I then ordered 3 more of the GAME in cherry colour and did the same setup. I notice a 1-2mm difference in balance point. But in play it's not noticeable.
Btw I usually play with NF170Light (with total 2g lead tape at 10&2), Arc11 (red/blue) and Astrox 77 (black/hot pink). This AX99Game is a little more powerful than my AX77 and more solid. And for me this is the max I could go with head heaviness. Anything more won't improve my on court performance.
And of course the Pro, Tour and Play were favoures by other club players. All different strengths and playing style. Blind test is important.
Send me 1
Hi CK Yew! I'm currently considering the Play model but I want your advice before I move forward. I play doubles, above intermediate, slightly advanced. Since injuring my racket hand (de quervain tenosynovitis) in 2017, I changed my game and have adopted a defensive/controlled type of game with a preference for lighter rackets. Would you recommend the Play or do you think I should go for the tour and game?
Out of the 4, the Tour and Game rackets has the lightest racket head so if you're set on the Astrox 99s, the Tour and Game might be better for you. Otherwise, the Play is an amazing value racket to play with. 😊
Hi! I really love your review video! The comparison is detail enough. But i wanna ask something that maybe i missed . Which one is better from perspective? 99 Game or 99 Play? Hopefully you want to answer my question. Thank you!
Its entirely up to you. If I had to choose, I'll go with the Play.
Hey bro, I am a big fan of your work
It would be really helpful if you did a comparison between astrox 100zz and astrox 99pro.
Thanks for the support! Have you checked out my 100ZZ and 99 Pro reviews?
@@CKYew yeah the 2 videos were really informative. but it would be nice if you did a side by side comparison
hi CK another aweeesome review. i just have some clarifications. is the head weight of 99 pro heavier than the play? and is the 99 play a little flexier than 99 pro?
Yes, the head weight of the 99 pro is significantly heavier than the play. Also the 99 pro has a stiff shaft while the 99 play has a medium flex shaft so the play will be more fkexible.
Hi CK,
Really enjoyed your review
can you also do a review on the Yonex Astrox 88D Play Model?
would love your opinion on that
Cheers
Thats in the plan! 👍
Great review of the Astrox 99 series! Would you recommend 88d game or 99 play? I am a beginner/intermediate player. I play doubles and like smashing and playing from rear courts. The double games speed is slow though as all of the players are like me (beginners /intermediate). Even though it is double, It is probably slower than an intermediate singles game :-)
Both would work really well eitherway!
Yeah finally, ma man 👍🏻
can you post more often?
🙌🙌 It will help if you share my videos with your badminton buddies 👍🏼👍🏼
Is by any chance you can make a video between the 100 tour/game and 99 tour/game? What are the key difference in this and what should I get for an all rounder player with quite a power. Although I love 99 due to its color
Been searching for a new racket since im going to start playing again. I think the 99 play is the perfect one.
I think the habdling on the pro and tour is too much for someone just back after years of hiatus. Great videos. Awesome channel.
Good luck!
Wise decision ... unlike me who didn't exercise my arms for 3 years, but came straight back to badminton on my stiff Yonex Isometric 300 SP racket, resulting in tennis elbow! Bought another Hi-Flex racket instead.
Hi CK, I just see this video, and it is awesome. You are my fav Badminton racket Reviewers.
But after watching this, now I'm confused. I'm an intermediate player who play badminton 2x a week. I love to play double, and I'm more advantageous on the back court with smashes or drop shots. I'm planning to buy Astrox99 next week, with budget up to tour model.
I feel like Play model is kinda cheaper one, will it affect my Smash & power game play?
I was planning to buy Game / Tour but after watching this, I got more confused 😅
Between Game / Tour, which one should I choose? And between the one chosen vs Play which one is better?
I don't mind buying tour model if it is truly better value wise.
Although I never owned or play any "pro" model before, I don't know whether it is too stiff or not for me 😅
Thanks for the amazing review. What do you think of 99 play compare to 88D play?
Very very close but The best Play for me is the Arcsaber 11 Play 👍🏼
How big is the difference between the tour and game? since it's made in the same country, i dunno which model should i get
So, The Astrox 99 play has a better feel than the tour and game? Is it for all the players or does the feel depend on the person? Thinking on getting the game instead of the play
was worth waiting
Niceeeeeeee 👍🏼👍🏼
Seriously
Thanks for the support!
Hi ck good content im planning to buy a racket and im choosing between these two racket victor hawk tk or astrox 99 play can you please recommend or give me some suggestion im agile person who lacks power
i have 88s game right now, i think i want a slightly more head heavy racket, so i was gonna get a 88d game, but would 99 play be a better racket? i think a very useful thing is for every racket review, u can put up ur own opinion of where the racket lands in the head heavy vs head light x-y axis compared to some similar and popular rackets
Hi Dr. Yew, talk about Power Assist Bumper, does it require replacement and how often? Would this be additional cost during stringing, as it is not ordinary item like grommet.
Good question, I've not had any news from Yonex about this but I'd expect for them to provide replacement power assist bumper for purchase when they need replacing.
Hope that you can put them all on the yonex racquet matrix. Does the 99 game comes with the power assist bumper? Is 99 game more head heavy than 88D pro? I have got the 88D game but it's way less head heavy than 88D pro.
All the 99s have the power assist bumper. And nope, the 99 game isn’t more head heavy than the 88D Pro. The drop of head weight from the 99 Pro to 99 Game is similar from the 88D Pro to 88D Game.
Hi CK, I'm torn between Astrox 88D game vs Astrox 99 game. Which one would you prefer?
Hi, Mr. Yew
Am a bit intrigued by the mention of AX99T being slightly more hollow, wonder if the feedback on the hand are more muted compared to AX99P or simply the head weight. Especially since I'd like to avoid the likes of my former VT80E or ZF2, age has been catching up to me smh, and can't even handle something without an internal foam (aka solid feel core) 🤦♀️
Thx in advance 🙏
The Tour doesn't produce any bad vibrations. It just has a different feel which is slightly more hollow compared to the Pro version.
Hey CK! Can you please review Astrox 77 Pro and it's comparison as well :)
Hi, thanks for the review. How would it feel different moving from the 88d game to the 100 game/tour or 99 game/tour? In terms of power, playability mostly
The tour and game rackets from all the series are extremely similar except the 99 series having the power assist bumper. All feels slightly hollow compared to the Pro models too. Playability is great for all models as they’re all very easy to play with.
Hello. Good video! I currently use the 4u Astrox 99LCW with 27lbs Bg66um/exboly 63(these two strings are used and changed every stringing). Do you think I should also use these strings on the 99 pro or would you suggest other strings and tension?
Absolutely! You should always have your fav strings on your rackets!
Thanks!
Hi, as you mentioned in the video 99 Tour is not as stiff and as head heavy as 99 Pro. How would you compare balance and stiffness of 99 Tour to 88D Pro then? Great video btw., subscribed!
All the Tour rackets feel very differently to the Pro perhaps due to the materials used. The Pros feel much better imo
Nice, but disappointed you did not show us your reviewed relative positions of these rackets on Yonex's Astrox rackets chart. 😥
I rely on smashes to win most of my points which one would be better for backcourt smashing power both 4u 88d p or 99 p ?
Amazing! You must have an amazing smash! I went with the 88D Pro. Have you tried either?
I like your videos and love the way you present these rackets, I am from India and I am an intermediate level player and I like to play attacking game, love the smash from the 3rd line, can I go for the game version because I can not find the tour model in India?
Yeah, certain models arent available worldwide. The Game lines are certainly good 👍👍
You are the best 😍
You too!
Hi CK, great review as usual 🙂. How would you compare 99 tour with 88s pro in terms of speed, head weight and sweet spot?
Hi Josef, the 88S Pro is better at all 3! Faster, head heavier and bigger sweet spot too!
@@CKYew thank you. Your reply on speed and sweetspot was expected, but head heaviness surprised me. Thanks anyway
How you set up your racket grips affect the head heaviness of a racket. 👍🏼
@@CKYew You are right. I always put an overgrip on top of standard grip. This increases the weight of the racket but decreases the balance point.
@@josefbriza1391 Yep! Gotta always keep testing out what works. :)
Would it be good to recommend rackets by player categories? Like beginner, intermediate, advanced and professional? I saw many recommended professional level or rich player rackets. Maybe I am in the small group audience, not financially strong but slightly better than average badminton lovers.
I like the 99 charry sunburst! Can you check out the duora series?
Cherry sunburst is certainly nice!
Hi CK I love your reviews. Can you tell mr which one is heavier? 88d play or 99 play? And which one do you prefer?
99 Play has a heavier head. I've done a comparison video comparing Play rackets
Hi CK, do you think the difference between the 100 game and 99 play is worth it for an additional RM150 or 26 GBP in your case.
It depends on you really. I was impressed with the quality of production throughout the whole series so I'd recommend you go into a store to look at them. 😊
Hello @ck! I'm wondering if i should go for the astrox 99 play or astrox 39. I need to know about weight, balance point (which one is more head heavy) and shaft flexibility (flexible/medium flex/ stiff) between these two. Can you help me with these informations please!
I’ve not tried the 39 so i can’t tell 😬😬
What tension do you used in playing the 99play? And what tension do you recommend? Great job btw!!!
Around 27lbs. There's no specific tension, whatever works best for you will be great! if you have no set tension, maybe try 23 or 24?
Hi ck another awesome review. I just have some questions. Which model between tour, game, and play do you prefer?
I don't know what to buy.
Always try and go for the best one with the budget you have
@@CKYew I'll try the play one. But may I ask what string were you using when you strung the astrox 99 play cherry sunburst? Or what string would you recommend. Thank you. New subscriber here 😊
Hello, you say that the AX99 tour is headlighter than the pro but compare to your AX88D pro he’s still more headheavier ou it’s close ???
Thank you
Hi CK just wondering if you use pre stretch on any of your rackets when you are stringing and also what are your thoughts on pre stretching your strings do you think it works ?
I personally do 10% pre-stretch on my strings but thats my personal preference. 😊😊
Hi, in your personal opinion, which one you prefer between 99play and 88d game in terms of performance? Which one is heavier and better for smash and control etc..?
the Game models are in a higher price range hence uses slightly better materials so will have an advantage. In saying that, the Play models are amazing good value rackets too!
I want to buy the low end version of the 99 series. according to the tests you have done, which is better between the PLAY model and the GAME model?
Game is obviously the higher end model compared to Play but both are very good value rackets!
Hello, how do these four racquets relate to the original Astrox 99? Is it equivalent to the Tour or Pro? Thanks
love your reviews. I am stuck between the 100 game, 99 game or the 88s game (all 3 are the same price point almost in USA).
Have you thought of doing a review between the 3. Pointers maybe?
I have reviewed all 3 game models 😂

The 88D Game will be easier to play with than the 99 Game so go for the 88D Game
@@CKYew oh ic!
after i saw ur review on these 3 astrox 99, i think i'll go for the PLAY for some reasons. it's cheap and u said its your favorite among those 3 hahhha and i'm not a pro player, i'm just an average player anyway.. my question is about the stringing. should i go for nanogy 99 and how much lbs ? or should i go for aerobite and how much lbs should it be ? looking forward for the answer
thankyou
The play is incredible value for money! Just string the racket at your usual tensions and it’ll play well 👍🏼
Hey CK! I don't really get it why people who tested the play one, felt like it was slightly more head heavy than the tour and pro, while the tour and pro are definitely heavier to play with. Is there any chance you could help me pick between play and tour for example, knowing that my primary avantage are my smashes in which I can put great power to win rallies
If budget isn’t an issue then the higher end models are always nicer to play with. Otherwise the play is great value!
Hi CK,
Back again with another question!
My friend bought 99 play racket and is now enjoying the racket. He is an intermediate player.
However, he asked if he should be upgrading from the 99 play to 99 pro?
Is it worth the upgrade? Or if 99 play is sufficient for him?
Understand the pro is much smoother than the play. But is the 99 pro worth that hefty price tag?
It’s down to your personal preference. Better materials and production technique = better feel and performance so it’s always down to how much you’re willing to spend on it 😊😊
Hi CK I love your reviews. Which one is heavier 88d play or 99 play? And which one do you prefer? Thanks for your reply.
99 play is head heaviest. My fav play so far is the arc11 play

Why not use the same racket for both events? It’ll make your game more consistent too

Between 88d ge and 100 game which one is more powerful full. Which one is good for double both front and back. Both 4u model.

Hello, thanks for the great series of reviews on these rackets with variously priced offerings.
I was trying to get an understanding of current market to plan for my next purchase of a racket and I am lost between options. First thing being rackets are significantly cheaper here in India, not all the versions tested by you are available here (tour versions of rackets doesn't seem to be avail) and then most of the game versions of astrox 88, 99 and 100 are so closely priced thus leading to a confusion about which one to look into and then there are other rackets in the same price range like astrox 7dg, astrox 69, astrox tour 9100, etc. All these rackets are within 10£ of each other and I couldn't find any good resource to understand the differences between them.
Any input would help.
And do you have any plans on making videos comparing rackets based on price brackets for a region at least so that it becomes easier to understand the value of these diff rackets better?
Good observation. You can see certain rackets are only available to certain regions so it’s really hard to compare available models, much less price. Pricing structure is also different for countries due to various taxation structure too.
@@CKYew with such wide variation in 'calibre of branding' for rackets in similar pricing I am just planning to find a store which will allow me to demo some rackets and see which one feels the best.
Any pointers on how to evaluate a racket quickly? Some specific shots/routine to differentiate easily..
Simple really. Find the ones you feel best with 😊 once you’ve tried a few, you’ll instantly realise which ones you prefer 👍🏼
Thanks for the response.
Any thoughts on li ning's lineup? Any particular models I should consider?
I’ve not tested many of li nings recent lineup so I can’t provide any good advise for now. Soon 👍🏼
Hi thanks for the review! can you make a comparison between each class? like 88d game, 99 game and 100 game or 88d tour, 99 tour and 100 tour. I'm looking for tour series but confuse with the better performance, power, etc thanks!
The top ends one always have the best performance and feel. They then go down from there onto the budget models.
Hi CK Yew, I'm using astrox 100zx at the moment, & I wonder how would the 99 tour compare to my current 100zx in your opinion. I'm an all around player who loves to smash
I find the 100ZX quite sluggish and remember the 99 Tour was a head lighter than the 99 Pro. But I’ve never compared the 99 Tour to 100ZX side by side before so I can’t give you definite opinion.
@@CKYew thanks for replying, how about the 100zz compared to 99pro? Can you do a video comparing those 2 racquets or maybe a video comparing 88d pro, 88s pro, 99 pro & 100zz altogether
Im planning to buy a new racket which one is better astrox 99 play or victor thruster hmr
I currently have the 88s PRO looking for a opposite racket to compliment the 88s PRO as it is super light very quick to move around . Would the 99 play be a good fit ? I want something different for the price range of the play / game
Why not the 88S Play then?
@@CKYew something totally different from the S series
@@nagodio The 99 Play was good for me 👍
Hi there ck, if it’s to compare, would you say voltric z force 2 is heavier or astrox 99 pro is heavier? Very detailed videos as always and Good days ahead CK !!!
Heyyy, have you checked out my “best power Yonex racket” video? It’s all there
Hi,i am form thailand. Which rackets which you like the most between 99pro and 88d pro,and which one have more fun when smashed?
I play with the 88D Pro so you know my answer there 🤣
I'm someone who's around low intermediate skill level, been searching for an upgrade for my old racket, the only ones on my budget is either 88D/S Game or 99 Game, which one would you recommend for me? I mostly play double and got a slightly more aggresive playstyle
The 88S or D game models might be slightly easier to play than the 99 Game so I would recommend that.
@@CKYew thankyou! gonna upgrade next week
@@neednot22 love it!
How big is the difference btwn astrox 39 and 99play? Is 99 play better than 39?
Hi CK, I'd just like to ask about the Astrox 88D Game, 99 Game and 100 Game. Due to my budget, I can only be able to get the Game models. Which will you recommend most for a 14 yo?
They're all good, its just down to what you prefer personally.
out of the topic bro can i ask if you know what Wei Nan use racket ? when he play against lcw , Yonex Denmark Open 2015
I believe he was playing with a Bonny racket
Great review. Which one would you recommend for an intermediate player who plays both singles and doubles?
They're all good, so its all down to your budget really.
@@CKYew sorry I meant across all series of Yonex rackets. I am more confused between astrox 99 play and astrox 88d
@@CKYew thank you for your reply!
