Absolutely, you have so many amateurs wasting time bashing their keyboards on different forums. All their time is spent fussing over "the best" shoes, racket, string, stringing method, tension etc. Whereas, the pros are on court training
If u have watched the previous videos, you'll see a lot of them doesnt know what gears they're using. Probably bcs either they doesnt care abt the branding as long as it fit their needs, or the brands gives them unpainted racket to test the new products. Even Some players using different rackets painted to look like certain racket. It was to upsell that specific rackets
Kento Momota using an extra stiff racquet with 3UG6 specification (possibly custom made?) and strings at 33x35 lbs tension is really something. Says a lot about his wrist power.
We have the 3UG6 model available here in Hong Kong, both in HK and JP models. But yep given he’s the face of the racket, most likely it’s custom made anyway. That tension is mind blowing lol.
3UG6 AX99 pro with 33x35lbs with that super thick aerobite string, I am still processing to think about it clearly, bruh wtf. Wow. Ahsan also use G6, and he used to modify his previous racket to have smaller grip because G6 was not common in the past. I myself prefer G6 to play with.
33x35 lbs is just crazy. Considering it's an astrox 99 pro and he rarely breaks strings, Momota must've underwent intense shot precision training I guess.
The variety between 3u and 4u among players really does show preference takes priority over conventional wisdom. Pretty surprised Kento is back on 3u after using a 4u 99 before the pro came out. I wonder if it has something to do with the ease of use being better and the succeeding model. And good lord, the tension tension he plays at just shows how amazing his conditioning and technique is.
@@CKYew funny story, the guy who sold me a 99 pro strung it for me with bg80p. I thought we agreed upon 26lbs, and I chalked up the fatigue on my arm to using a harder string than I usually do. Turns out he strung it 30ish lbs! Flattering he thinks i'm a hard hitter w/ that kind of technique, but not there (yet).
Awesome to see some insights ! Thanks for the video ( was waiting for this one haha) PV Sindhu is so approachable ! I met her in a restaurant a few years Back when she was playing in France for the IFB and she was really cool 😊 Taï is adorable ! Thank you so much for these videos CK YEW! I find it very interesting to know more what equipment the players are using, but usually there is way too little info about it.
Nice video, CK! As for the Momota pre-stretch question, there’s a UA-cam video from German Open 2022 (called “The Art of Stringing a Badminton Racket with Tim Willis (German Open 2022)”) in which Tim Willis says at 4m23s that Momota does NOT ask for his strings to be pre-stretched. 😊
Damn such a good video very informative. But as someone said , im impressed to hear about the tension only "31 lbs " for a lot of players. When i met french top badminton player . For example Thomas rouxel use 34-35 tension. I personnally use 29-31 because i think is enough even if i train my back/rotator for this. its just that i don't wanna broke string so often. i was so sure most of men would use 33+
This is good to find out. The majority of players favour Yonex BG80, which is 0.68mm gauge, at 30lbs tension. I use APACS rackets with 0.66mm gauge string at 25lbs tension. I’m old school. Don’t like to string it too tight.
Oh Wow Akane Yamaguchi with 24x26 lbs on string!? That’s interesting! 😁🎉 I thought pros would prefer higher tension for more solid feel upon shuttle stroke
I always surprised with Japanese players. Many my national player friends told me that some Japanese players use really low tensions 24-28 lbs. And it its TRUE !!!
Thanks for a great video. It’s very interesting how some players don’t know their racket model but they all know their exact preferred string tension. Also Bing Jiao is very sweet, I think she might have a crush on you 😍
Wow a lot of ms player only using 31lbs? I always thought ms players using super high tension like axelsen 😅 and its incredible knowing akane using very stiff racket in 3u weight, she really is small but powerful 👌🏻

The Tours are mid range rackets where as the Duora 10 is a top end racket. They're all good rackets in the end so its down to your own personal preference
Hey had a question for all you string fans. I want to string my 88d pro a little higher, I know that pros are using 32+ with their 4u 88d pros. I was wondering the consequences of stringing maybe 31/29?
high stringing tensions do void your warranty so always proceed with caution. And you'd always want your crosses to have slightly tensions (approx 10% higher) than your mains to ensure frame shape retention
at first i was like ok, CK are able to speak japanese, and then mandarin as well. cool. and then i heared him speak in indonesia. damn talented multilingual😭
TTY's racket has a gap in the stringbed (lower side). Is it because of the grommet pattern, or she prefers leaving that gap? Any advantage in doing so?

The most important is the feeling of using the gear instead of the models of the gears.
