Thank you Andres. After nearly 40 years of live music performance, recording, and mixing, I've suffered a sizeable amount of hearing loss between 2000 and 6000 hz. So, when you did the audio speakers comparison, I immediately noticed that the Macbook Air sounded clearer and more defined to me. I believe this is a result of the audio reflecting directly off of the screen achieving a much better mid-range response. When I edit audio, I'm always wearing over ear headphones, so I'm not too concerned about hearing the full spectrum of sound from the onboard speakers. I think this comparison was useful for people with mid-range hearing difficulty.
i think this review undervalues ProMotion. in my opinion, ProMotion is essential. having come from windows with a 144hz monitor, i find it hard to switch to 60hz. the macbook air’s 60hz screen alone was a dealbreaker for me.
I really like your industrial type work desk/bench. When I was working for a electronics repair shop, we set up wall to wall work stations using components similar to yours. Never ending drawer storage space and stout/tuff workbench surfaces. You have the right idea. Good luck!
The 14 Pro from 2021 base model i own. It is my favorite Mac product to date. Has and does everything i need and will last me 4 to 5 years most likely.
After much deliberation, the notch put me off completely however in the end i did pick up a base model air m2 and i am very happy (dark wallpaper hides the notch) i have been running Xcode without issue so for coding on the couch it is perfect and a relatively low price point managed to get it for £1079 in the UK. Wasn’t bothered about the slower reported SSD either I am not a hardcore user most of my coding is in vscode or Xcode and I’ve never had millions of tabs open either. Like it so much my son now has my iMac. Sure it may not be future proof but in honesty i tend to buy a new machine every 2-3 years anyway. I did look at the pro but the entry price point is high in the UK and to be honest its power is largely wasted on me. Nice video as always Andres

So I got the base model pro. And I think it's an excellent choice. Here's why- I'm getting into video editing, but for what I do, I add a lot of effects. For example, keyframeing objects on people. And you wouldn't BELIEVE how much of a performance hit the laptop takes with these graphics. That being said, once they render it's not so bad playing back. And the dropped frames stop after the part with the graphic. My point is, if you are going to be adding a lot of graphics and stuff, if the pro slows down, I can only imagine how much the air would. Hope this helps :D
@@polar_boi7823 oh yea, the air is a no go for me. Are you editing in Final Cut? I'm a Premiere Pro user. Do you wish you would have bought increased specs?
@@visionarywatts oh gotcha! I have used both, but I got a mackbook so I could use final cut. Both are great editing platforms! Hmmm, I would honestly say yes. I kinda wish I got more storage, I got the base model so I have 512gb, but when I get multiple videos on there for editing, it fills up so fast. When I got the laptop upgrades weren't in the budget, as I got the laptop for a job offer (that's why I needed final cut). So next time in the market I'll probably bite the bullet on more storage. If you don't wanna upgrade storage, and this is what I'm going to do until I upgrade, you might wanna get a SSD to work off of.

at 3:48 we can see that you have covered your MacBook Pro camera, but Apple officially says that it may damage your screen when you close the lid, and you may cover the light sensor and can't use all functions that you paid for like auto-brightness or true tone. "I like them, they're both pretty good, one is some amount faster" could sum up the whole video. Yeah okay we get you like it, but maybe more than 1 qualitative test in a comparison review next time? Browsing the internet, typing code into notepad, and running Excel are all things my $350 laptop from 2014 can do just fine. What are the reasons these two are good choices in general?
Hey, thanks a lot for this. Exactly the info I needed to make the decision. Although I’m still back and forth! The Air would actually be better for me except that I do some video editing and photo work. I just think with the Pro I won’t ever be frustrated with power, speed, etc at these times. But what about the M2 MacBook Air vs M2 MacBook Pro 13”???. 🤷🏼♂️
Great video, now if only some of the pro owners would use some of this type of rational thinking on the macrumor forums lol. Constantly putting down the m2 air and pushing everyone and their mother to buy the 14" pro, even if its for checking emails. Its insane. Im super happy with my M2 air and very much value the portability and never once had an issue with the performance of this little beast of a machine.
Thank you ! I have the M1 Pro but I find myself missing the minimalism of the Air and most of the time I use my laptop connected to a 34” monitor with a usb hub with a couple of task specifics drives.
i got the m2 air midnight and i absolutely don't regret the color, the fingerprints arent as noticable in real life and my fingers dont sweat as much. i have only wiped it down with a micro fiber cloth like 4 or 5 times since i got it on launch day
I love and hate the mba m1.. I love that it's very portable that I can bring anywhere, anytime with one of the best battery life laptop ever exist but I also hate that the old design has very sharp corner making uncomfortable when I rest my palms on the edge of the laptop... The rounded design on the new lineup I think for me is the best decision they ever made not only it looks modern but also more comfortable to type on for long use and now I'm feeling the sharpness of the edge as I'm typing rn... arggh
In my opinion, based on experience. An air is going to be planned for 2 or 3 years with “good” performance before all apps get updated with more characteristics, includes MacOS. Then it will start having low performance. At least it was my experience with a mac air 2015. But in the new ones, it can be slightly different, because they are using its own processors but not sure. So, I prefer to get a MacBook Pro with M1 Pro or m2 pro. I have a MacBook Pro m1 (13”) and a MacBook Pro M1 Pro (14”) I noticed on my daily work that M1 Pro is getting me a smooth work that m1 (in general takes more time to complete tasks and, in general, it is not responsive than M1 Pro)
These videos involving the Air and Pro helped me decide on an M2 Air that's on its way. Keep up the work, both entertaining to watch and have some good knowledge with them!

I've had the m1 air for over a year now and it is unbearable during the summer. It gets way too hot during teams meetings and if the m2 is the same I wouldn't recommend buying it if you live in a tropical area. We have temperatures around 25 degrees celsius or 75 Fahrenheit.
I’m thinking of getting the M2 MacBook Air 512 GB SSD. But worried about the sound. Another video put side by side M2 Air and intro Pro to test the sound. The Air was hard to hear. I know the Pro has better screen resolution, but doesn’t seem that big a difference. What do you think about the sound on Air.
I'm student, my use is browsing, watching lectures, coding,...! Preference is for better battery backup, but at the same time big screen, storage requirements :1TB SSD & 16GB RAM Which laptop should I buy M2 air, or M1 pro?
If we want to develop mobile apps but no need to run Emulator/Simulator rather run directly on physical device, will Air serve the purpose or should we go to Pro Only?
So i was planing of getting a Macbook Air M2 for uni where I study computer sience. Because of this I thought that the base model of the M2 could get in a state of a bottleneck, which could take up much time, as seen in several performance reviews. So I already knew that I would buy my self a M2 with 16GB Ram and 512GB storage. But as I stumbled across some price comparison websites I discovered many offers for a refurbished Macbook pro m1 base model which cost almost as much as the M2. M2~ 1.750€ and M1 pro ~ 1.800-1.850€ and now I dont know which one to choose, I know the M2 is much more portable then the M1 but I love the display, the specs and speediness of the M1. If anyone has been in a similar situation or has any recommendations for me I would greatly appreciate it. sorry for my bad grammar:)
Same sitch bro! I think I might go for the m1 pro I found on apple refurbished it's not too much heavier and I can use it for a while for more intensive things than the m2 air
If I where you I’d rather get the m2 air. I would never get something refurbished. Also the m2 air is just as powerful and it just came out, on the other hand the MacBook Pro m1 came out last year. The MacBook Air m2 is also lighter so it’s better if you’re in college and have to carry it around. It’s also better looking, that thin look makes it really aesthetically pleasing. If you’re a computer sci major you don’t need an extremely powerful machine to program. You can basically write code on any laptop. If you really want a bit more power laptop like the pro I would just wait for the new one to come out. I am using the m1 air for college and I regret not buying the m2, just wanted to save some money.

I really love pro version, it has fans which makes it fully utilize it's processor
i think this review undervalues ProMotion. in my opinion, ProMotion is essential. having come from windows with a 144hz monitor, i find it hard to switch to 60hz. the macbook air’s 60hz screen alone was a dealbreaker for me.
I really like your industrial type work desk/bench. When I was working for a electronics repair shop, we set up wall to wall work stations using components similar to yours. Never ending drawer storage space and stout/tuff workbench surfaces. You have the right idea. Good luck!
How Man ! This is A TRUE UA-camR ! I LOVE YOU SOO MUCH ❤❤❤
Every youtuber ever: "the macbook is so cool with 3 ports"🤓🤓🤓
Me with 28 ports on a 200 dollar laptop😂😂😂
Nice video as always Andres
hello, I'm a computer science student, I'm thinking of buying a 16 ram macbook air m2, I'm curious about the air model even though I don't deal with extensive coding.. would you recommend it for medium-sized projects and coding? What if I use it with 8-10 tabs open? Could you please tell me about your long usage experience that you are satisfied and not satisfied with :( Thank you in advance..
@@enesmalikaltnpnar3763 with 16gb of ram I’m sure you’ll be fine as to the tabs I never have that many open but if you go 16gb I don’t think it will be an issue at all
it crazy never gotten a macbook for 7 years now but have watched lot of video. so much love these lapttop. really love your review. just found your channel
I'm still trying to decide what laptop to get for myself. Most likely the pro since I want to video edit on the go. Thanks for this!
I hope it helps you a bit more man!!
So I got the base model pro. And I think it's an excellent choice. Here's why-
I'm getting into video editing, but for what I do, I add a lot of effects.
@@polar_boi7823 ah okay, good to know and yea, I have several SSDs laying around. Thank you for the responses 🙏
Got the m2 macbook kinda wish it was bigger with that color, it’s way lighter than my omen 16 which is sitting on my desk in my dorm rn being a beast, but honestly if i had more money would of gone with the 14’, even though i love that midnight color
Well done for addressing the scammers. They are everywhere and you are awesome!
😂 Yes they are ⬆️
i wonder why they are more on tech review channel than any other channels
as normal did nail the visual ! and for about a week I got many scam comments for my oldest comments continously so I'm glad you did address it .
at 3:48 we can see that you have covered your MacBook Pro camera, but Apple officially says that it may damage your screen when you close the lid, and you may cover the light sensor and can't use all functions that you paid for like auto-brightness or true tone. Is it harmless? Because I also want to put the camera cover, I used to have this thing on my windows laptop, but don't want to pay for Mac repair.
my late '13 15" retina macbook pro just died, just ordered the 14" M1 pro... seemed like it was going to be the most similar and with best buy having them $400 off, appeared to be the best option. we'll see what I think when it comes in!
Don't touch the 13 inch m2 pro. It's hot garbage
Once I saw the size of the Pro and experienced the slimness of the M2, I knew what was the right choice. The Pro is positively bulky in comparison.
It's impressive how much tech stuff you have. Just amazing.
Thank you ! I have the M1 Pro but I find myself missing the minimalism of the Air and most of the time I use my laptop connected to a 34” monitor with a usb hub with a couple of task specifics drives.
Which monitor and which hub please?
i got the m2 air midnight and i absolutely don't regret the color, the fingerprints arent as noticable in real life and my fingers dont sweat as much. i have only wiped it down with a micro fiber cloth like 4 or 5 times since i got it on launch day
Thanks for the content 😊
Thank you for watching bro!!!
Great video Like always!
And I love that vscode theme!
How is M2 Air (512GB/24GB) handling 40+ tabs in Safari + 5 Word docs and few PDF's ?
The air m2 is a dream! I think it will pave the way for an era of powerful and lighter MacBooks
Great video Andres, really appreciate your way of comparison and making different use cases clear, thumbs up !
Thanks for content bro. I never have a MacBook so it's good to know what to buy in future tech
Probably the best comparison of these two machines, thanks
These videos involving the Air and Pro helped me decide on an M2 Air that's on its way. Keep up the work, both entertaining to watch and have some good knowledge with them!
Super happy to help!! you really wont regret it!
Another creator not related to tech per se, said’ Quit acting like this is your first day on the internet”. No creator is going to do “too good to be true” deal.
Waiting for this vid 🎉🔥
Hope it helps!
Are you noticing any issues with the battery? I lose about 10% of power overnight (about 8-10 hours) every time I put the M2 air to sleep. I’ve had it happen with 2 different units now. Not sure why it’s happening.
Thanks for addressing this issue. This is a common problem on this platform.
If money wasnt a problem i would go with the m1 14 pro....but the m2 air base model is enought for my use and its really light and compact
By seeing FINALY someone test these bad boys WITH EXCEL (THANK YOU) - not ALL the world is editing videos :-))) you have a new subscriber ;-) !
i like how this guy said i know macbook videos get views so im doing another keep it up man lmao fire content fr 💪🏻
A video which I was waiting for 👍💯
Happy to hear that, I feel like a lot of you were waiting hehe
Is the m2 air heating a major issue? I’m considering it for college. Mostly writing, documents and casual movies nights.
not at all
I scaled it up in my MBA because I like things bigger and less strain on the eye.
1:29 ...that look back at the RS3 is how u know u done right by it 😁👌
I have the 14 inch base m1pro MacBook Pro from when I saw ur video about it ... its truly an amazing pick for me ... thx Andres for the video ...as always amazing
I bought the 14 Pro and made the wrong decision, it’s to heavy and chunky, the battery is not so good as expected so guys don’t make the same mistake
Did you get the m2 air then ?
Great video, again.
Much love John!!
I've had the m1 air for over a year now and it is unbearable during the summer. It gets way too hot during teams meetings and if the m2 is the same I wouldn't recommend buying it if you live in a tropical area. We have temperatures around 25 degrees celsius or 75 Fahrenheit.
I have never owned a MacBook before , should I buy a MacBook Air m2 to learn software engineering for 4 years of university ?
Yeah I just need it for my UA-cam channel when I’m doing some traveling so I think I’ll pick up the air thanks for the review
I love this video! Your contributions are actually valuable for real-life use, particularly the small things which are just about quality of life :)
I've been waiting for this video since the M2 macbook air came out!
What’s that thing under you MacBook Pro -- black patch at 5:15
Completely irrelevant to the topic, but what are these switches and knobs at 9:56 ? And where can i buy them :D
10:59 why are you still on windows 10 and have not upgraded to windows 11? compatibility issues?
yeee!!:/
I’m thinking of getting the M2 MacBook Air 512 GB SSD. But worried about the sound. Another video put side by side M2 Air and intro Pro to test the sound. The Air was hard to hear. I know the Pro has better screen resolution, but doesn’t seem that big a difference. What do you think about the sound on Air.
Great video as always mate! 🔥
I'm student, my use is browsing, watching lectures, coding,...!
Preference is for better battery backup, but at the same time big screen, storage requirements :1TB SSD & 16GB RAM
Which laptop should I buy M2 air, or M1 pro?
m2
@@Rockstarskar hello, I'm a computer science student, I'm thinking of buying a 16 ram macbook air m2, I'm curious about the air model even though I don't deal with extensive coding.. would you recommend it for medium-sized projects and coding? @@enesmalikaltnpnar3763 It can open multiple tabs at the same time but will overheat a bit if you have been using it for a long period. I recommend buying the air m2 since the pro m2 sucks and the m1 pro is old. The pro overall has better performance but not much of a difference, My MacBook Air has been great so far. The MacBook Air m1 and m2 has immense power for how light and cheap the laptop is, massive money saver. You don’t really need the pro unless you’re some kind of creator or videographer that has to render and edit videos, and with the coding the laptop you have doesn’t matter. I watch Netflix with my laptop and the speakers and screen display is really good.
@@Rockstarskar I don't want to edit videos or play games.. I want it to be able to open more coding programs and more tabs together, it should also charge well.. I don't care about the speaker or case quality... if it gets hot, its performance will decrease? also air M2 16/256 28,000₺, air m2 16/512 35,000₺ and 14" m2pro mbp 16/512 43.000₺ ? what would you recommend?
Really good video!
Considering either 13” M1 MacBook Pro vs. M2 MacBook Air.
The 14” pros are too expensive, and with the 13 inch model you seem to have the best of both worlds, minus the beautiful design upgrades.
What do you think? I will mainly use the laptop for JavaScript programming, web developments and daily browsing and maybe some 3D web animation courses.
What courses will u be taking? I just got introduced to three.js, spline and womp
i'm considering 13" m1 pro and m2 air too
my usage is for web and machine learning development
I am a web developer and only doing web. So threejs and libraries like that yes!
Buy the pro version, since it has fans and cooling system!! I have the m2 pro 13 in and its the best
Pros are $400 off at Best Buy right now.
13:01 OMG, my 5 years old IntelCeleron loads a bigger Excel file in 20 sec... And the 《amazing》M-silicon needs minutes ...🤔
Maybe it's a mistake and it takes only several seconds?
"The biggest and most noticeable difference is the keyboard. They are absolutely identical."
....what?
You were supposed to say that Rize was a sponsor, not just slip it in casually.
Matt I think you missed the first 3 seconds of the video
The sound quality of the Air sounds better in the video ^^
Great comparison from a real perspective. I wonder if you would like the Air even more with a 16/512GB model instead? That avoids any of the storage speed and swap issues of the base model.
I am returning my 13"M2 Air because 8GB is just not enough and I get memory errors just running 4 tabs in chrome for work, and things like Zoom meetings, and picking up the 14" Macbook pro, the price of getting an M2 with 16GM ram on the Air is just not worth it.
@@mikenyr4life491 seriously, Apple should have at least had the device start at 12 GB of RAM. The fact that it’s shared between the CPU and GPU means 8 GB just isn’t enough for any workload that requires a few programs running in tandem
@@Metamine0 I L❤VE MY 14" Macbook Pro with 16GB Ram, it is night and day. I still am surprised at how poorly my 13" Macbook Pro performed with 8GB Ram
@@mikenyr4life491 it's a travesty that they still sell a "Pro" device with only 8 GB of RAM and market unified memory as if it's capable of what 16 GB can do. I also got the 14 inch and my only complaint is the weight and thickness.
@@Metamine0 I liked the M2 Air a lot, but by the time ram was bumped to a reasonable 16GB you might as well get the 14" Macbook Pro
Sa chaine c'est full bling bling c'est incroyable. Aucune vraie mise en situation, juste du style et de la beauté. En soit, inutile quand on achète une bécane à 3k €
15:45 - a great shot!
This should appeal to video editors especially)
I love your videos ❤
Thank you so much!!
How about using it on developer side?
App development takes a lot of processor, longer u keep doing codes under git and same opening app in MacBook…slows a lot. Can MacBook Pro help in efficiency or MacBook Air ?
thanks a lot!!! u just got a new subscriber....
Welcome to the channel!!!
Super video. Thank you.
Bought the Midnight and haven't regretted it for a second, it's gorgeous. Bored of the silver after so many years. Don't care about the fingerprints.
Love this video, love the detailed explanation. After learning about both machines, I'm going to go with both. I know the pro would be more of a desk laptop and the air would be more portable as I travel. Thanks for the video.
I actually have an M1 Air and a M1 Pro 14". Might eventually settle on one or the other but both do have their advantages in size, weight, convenience and performance.
on 05:21 - MacBook Air has bent bottom case, is that from out of the box ?
What is the name of the yellow/amber terminal theme at 10:10 ? (asitop screen)
Great video! but, what happened at 11:17 ???? As far as I know macbooks don't have touch screen...
Probably keyboard shortcuts, while pointing at that part of the screen?
Im still using a 2015 MacBook Pro 13'' for my pro photo editing with Capture One and Affinity Photo and now I think it wouldn't make make sense for me to buy the pro for the XDR screen and the sd slot, my question is do I loose processing power with the air? I guess not!!
good content!!
For me, the dual fan 14 was a way to go, because GPU power and that beautiful 120Hz screen..games on this are just something else. Other than gaming, I would go for the Air if it had 120Hz adaptive screen. It is something that every Mac should have..you can't tell until you try but after you try you can't go back.
I got my 14' a couple of weeks ago and yes! Games look great and the screen is beautiful, I made a huge jump since I had a MacBook Pro 13' from 2011! She was a warrior but I needed the update now. :)
why would you buy a MacBook for gaming?
@@kieranrankie203 I never said I bought it just for gaming. I edit, render photos or go to school for most of the time. I’m always on the go..a lot of times I have passed 10-12h screen on time..and with Apple Silicon I can..also it is light and powerful. But not gonna lie, I like games so sometimes (2-5% of my time I turn on some games..for example Insurgency 2014). When I play 2-5% of my whole use case, there is no reason to buy anything else
@@kieranrankie203 What I wanted to say is..if you acrually turn on a game, it is the best experience you can get..because of the display, speakers, keyboard and low fan noise (when in low power mode, Display drops to 60Hz cap, but fans most likely won't even turn on)
@@marekmecir5822 im just about to buy a new mac and i don’t think i need the exrta power but i don’t want to spend money on a console or gaming PC when i barely play games once in a while. that said, i was a gamer before and i would like to get back to the hobby once in a while. The recent apple announcement regarding future games got my a little excited and its nice to have the option.
Hello, thanks for your video, I enjoyed it and it helped inform my purchase. Can you share which camera lens cover you use? I know Apple does not recommend using these and states that anything used must be extremely thin. How does yours apply to the screen? Is it noticeable when closing the screen? Any issues with it?
