Not 100 per cent sure, but this version may have been recorded at the Komedia Theatre, Brighton back in May 1999 (?) .. I remember sitting next to a very charming lady at the gig and when the song ended, she looked really proud and said, "so beautiful - that's my boy'. It was Mike's Mum, Nadia!!
I could listen to Mike sing this all day long , I just love this man.He just makes.it all seem so real , I love you Mike , there's something about you ! ❤❤❤❤
Good LORD, that was GORGEOUS! Thank you for posting such a lovely rendition. Now you see why this song has held up for DECADES. It just SHIMMERS and of course Mike brought out a whole new sensitivity to it. I mean, I LOVE Mark's bass, he gives the song such PUNCH. But Mike's rendition just shows this band was overflowing with talent and frankly was criminally underrated here in the States.
Fantastic version of this great song. Totally under-rated musician our Mike is! He should do an acoustic tour (like Howard Jones did). Thanks for posting Dave.
I love it. Thank you. I have been a fan for years, been busy lately getting all the albums back that I lost through the years. Was lucky enough to see you all at Wembley back in 87 I think, wonderful night. Keep it going love you all.
I was a little girl 7 or 8 with a huge crush on Mike Lindup. Such a great keyboardist with that falsetto and those curls. I just discovered his moms music as well. Talented family.
E || Amaj7add2 (no 3rd) over C# || D || Am/C B7 || (that last bar is a tasty change from the Bm7 in the original L42 track) From 2:23 "these changing years" with falsetto: Cmaj 7 || Gmaj7add2 B11 || E
The 80ies version is what gets you pumped up in the morning like an extra cup of coffee...this version is your lullaby before you go to bed and dream of life's imperfections 😊

Oh holy shit.... where was this hiding? That voice was always the better part of Level42, Mark and him made up magic like this, seperately it hits you right between the ears, I'm going to see if this is available on album... **********
Mike Lindup is one of the most talented and creative musicians I know. This is simply wonderful!
I agree.
Wow, I adore Mike and he’s one of my favourite singers and keyboardists of all time. ✌️😙
Nice chord changes. Mike is one of favourite 80s keyboard players.

This guy has one of the best falsettos I've ever heard, and his piano/keyboard skills speak for themselves.
Long live Level 42! The finest band born out of the 80's.

Where did you find this? Beautiful - nothing short of Mike's usual delivery!

Re-release and rule the world M.L.
The way Mike sings this is reminiscent of Stevie Wonder. I'm sure those fresh chords have made him think of Stevie.
Mark King would be so proud
Wow, is this version available on iTunes?
I might be the sole person thinking this. But Mike Lindup has a slight resemblance to actor John Turturro!
I'd love to see the lyrics - someone please post for me Poetry.
at 3:00 we get the trick that led to what we now...
