    From Disney wiki:
Peter Pan & Wendy is a 2023 American fantasy adventure film directed by David Lowery from a screenplay he co-wrote with Toby Halbrooks. Jim Whitaker served as producer on the Walt Disney Pictures production, which is a live-action adaptation of Walt Disney's 1953 animated film Peter Pan, in turn based on the 1904 play Peter Pan; or, the Boy Who Wouldn't Grow Up (also known as Peter and Wendy) by J. M. Barrie. The film stars Alexander Molony (in his film debut) and Ever Anderson in the title roles. Jude Law, Yara Shahidi, Alyssa Wapanatâhk, Joshua Pickering, Jacobi Jupe, Molly Parker, Alan Tudyk, and Jim Gaffigan also appear in supporting roles. The story follows Peter Pan and Wendy, who go to the magical world of Neverland with Wendy's brothers and Peter's best friend Tinker Bell. Along the way, Wendy embarks on the adventure that will change her life and encounters Peter's archenemy Captain Hook.
Development on a live-action Peter Pan film began on April 13, 2016, with Lowery directing. Lowery was announced as writing the film with Halbrooks, while the production team expanded the next four years due to work in the remake's script. The film's title was announced on January 7, 2020. Production was expected to begin in April 2020 and wrap in August that year but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Filming ultimately began in March 2021 in Vancouver, British Columbia. Shooting also occurred on the Bonavista Peninsula of Newfoundland and Labrador, in August 2021, and in the Faroe Islands.

This has been the most entertaining commentary I've seen in a while! As a viewer it's easy to tell you two are friends because your chemistry is dynamic and natural. Glad I found y'all today :D
I recently watched the 1953 version and rewatched the 2003 version (my favorite as well) to compare, and the former two definitely have a charm that this new one did not seem to capture. Visually, there is not a lot outstanding, except for a handful of interesting shots. This trend of making everything so gosh darn **dark** is frustrating! I respect utilizing visuals as representation of characters' feelings, and I really felt they could've done something like that here by making their London home rather dreary in the beginning and Neverland full of life, and then as the story progresses and Wendy and the boys become homesick, Neverland becomes darker and more threatening, and when they return home everything seems brighter and full of hope.
I agree about the supporting characters -- visually dynamic, but with the depth of a puddle, unfortunately. Tinkerbell's actress actually exuded a lot of charm in the scenes we did see her in, and I'm not opposed to them characterizing her differently from the original, but it would've been nice if she played more of a role in the story. The original Tinkerbell had a lot of personality and her own character arc of overcoming her jealous and possessive nature, and this one is just sort of there.
Same with Tiger Lily. I totally agree that just because the representation is more sensitive, doesn't mean that it has to be boring and generic (I didn't really understand why she was the leader of the Lost Boys either). Setting aside the racial depictions of her fellow Natives, Tiger Lily was memorable in a positive way in the original because she was brave, not due to brandishing a sword or knowing how to fight, but because she refused to betray her friend despite her own life being in peril. Like, what a legend!
As far as the Lost Boys, I took issue with the inclusion of girls for two reasons: for one, throwing a few girls in there and still calling it the Lost Boys both feels pandering and almost makes it seem as though "boys" is the more preferred term. Like, why aggressively say "so!" to Wendy for pointing out the obvious? And they make no effort to have this change make sense, not even in a throwaway line. It's just kind of like, "if you have a problem with the name, then you're the problem!"
My second reason for why I disliked including girls in the Lost Boys is that in my opinion, the fact that they are boys is integral to the plot and to the characters' interactions. Tiger Lily and Tinkerbell (and the mermaids) are the only females Peter has interacted with, and they exist in the realm of his fantasy world where they aren't a threat to Peter's desire to never grow up. Wendy is completely different to Peter both because she is from the real world and because she is a girl in similar age to him. When it comes to the Lost Boys, they have only known the rowdy and undisciplined life of indulging every childish impulse, and it isn't until Wendy introduces the idea of stability and motherhood that they long for something more. I think it makes sense for them to see her as a maternal figure since she has a caring and warm personality and, as the eldest, is used to looking out for her own brothers. The fact that they are all boys and she is a girl further supports the contrast between the Lost Boys' interactions with her versus their interactions with Peter. If they wanted to include girls in the new one, I think perhaps having the youngest be a girl might work, since Wendy would still be an elder feminine figure who introduces the group to new concepts.
I definitely feel, though, that the movie's two weakest points are its titular characters. Peter lacks energy of a youthful spirit and often feels pushed aside to make way for Wendy. And Wendy... oh Wendy. Disney (and others) seem to only be interested in one type of heroine these days: the fiesty, no-nonsense, loud, don't-need-no-man-to-save-her female protagonist. Why Disney execs believe that stripping a female character of all her feminine traits and replacing them with masculine ones is progressive, I'll never understand. Like, slapping Peter in the face? Violence towards friends isn't cool just because you're a girl!
Anyways, I've had thoughts on the movie, but hadn't sat down and properly sorted through them, so thanks if you've read this far! Great reaction, fellas :D

In the original Peter Pan, Wendy and the 2 boys actually enjoyed Neverland, but in this movie it feels so unrealistic that they'd enjoy it. Like you two said, it's traumatic thing after traumatic thing without that fun they had in the original. How I think they could've fixed this is with the Tigerlily's tribe scene... But just like not racist? You can show the kids having fun in the tribe with Tigerlily, but depict their culture in a realistic way while keeping the scene fun. It shouldn't be exaggerated and offensive and stereotypical (like the original), but also not dull, lifeless, and generic (like in this movie). Also, if they wanted to keep her stoic, then the kids could play with the other kids in the tribe. This isn't my only point, there could be a lot of opportunities for the kids to have fun in Neverland, but it seems all those opportunities were missed.

Yeah i actually really enjoyed Peter Pan I didn’t really like Wendy though, although i did like Peter Pan and Captain Hook, Jude Law was AMAZING he did a great job, as for tinker bell I am a HUGE Tinker bell fan i have Tinker-bell jewellery i have a doll of Tinker-bell so i feel like the actress wasn’t as great she did an okay job but she didn’t really have the sassiness of Tinkerbell or anything, it was really creepy to see her talk at the end cause fairies don’t talk so that was weird. But other than that i really enjoyed it up there with Pinocchio.
When you talked about Tinkerbell saying that she was iconic she is iconic cause she had her own movies she was in the old menu Dvd logos back in the day so she is Iconic and i think people forget that sometimes.

I don’t know why Disney decided to make a live-action Peter Pan because Universal already made the perfect live-action in 2003. If they wanted to make another live-action, they should have done another movie, because I feel the draw of Disney live-action remakes is that they’re not good but you can’t find anything else of similar quality to watch with the same IP. But that not the case here. Universal has BLOWN them out of the water.

I've also always thought of Spielberg's Hook as a Prequel to Universal's adaption, with it being so magical and similar in tone. ✨

I honestly think you guys aren't being hard the kid who plays Peter Pan. I think child actors need honest feedback with actual critical criticism to let them know and for them to hopefully get better with his/her acting. I find it weird that for some reason, when a child has given a very good acting performance in a film are being highly viewed up on the same level with the adult actors, let alone being nominated for awards mostly if not all within adult categories. That most of us adults are fully okay with acknowledging a good performance and other adult actors giving out advises to some of the kid actors. Yet, when a child's acting performance is indeed poor, adults are very skittish and no willing to acknowledge these aspects to child actors. When child actors probably need these honest feedbacks and how it might hinder any child's performance for the next film or two. By the way Ben, I really appreciate and get excited when you'd give out interesting film facts. It's very cool and the insight you'd have within these reactions. Keep on doing it! Also the whole "Peter Pan and Wendy" title thing. The only explanation as to why I think it's called that is because of a call back when the Peter Pan story was actually published (same author) within a book format than it was originally the play version. The Peter Pan book was actually called "Peter and Wendy". So....the film technically got something right and not because of oh wow, women power thing entirely (I still feel like it kind of was, but eh).

Film was less a remake of the '53 film, but a decent adaptation of the book, which is named Peter Pan and Wendy. I get the impression if this didn't have the Disney branding but remained the same otherwise there wouldn't so many people review bombing it.
That said, the things they focused on are offset by the things that got left out. I like seeing Peter's more colder traits front and center, but they do leave out the whimzy of Neverland and why it's an interesting place to live in.

Loved seeing Peter’s colder side too, but we didn’t get to see any other side of him so he ended up coming across quite flat rather than the deep 3D character I think they were aiming for.
And don’t get me started on Neverland! 😂😂
Thanks for commenting and adding another side to the discussion ✌️☺️

Awful movie. I'm not afraid to say it! The actor playing Peter Pan is awful! Neverland is awful. Where’s the fun? And for god sake! Where is the colors?!? This is Neverland for christ sake! Many are hating on tinkerbell and her acting, I actually really love it! I think she has great charisma, good acting, the only problem is her look. The dress is a little to much. A little less detailed would be better, It looks very designery and please for god sake does anyone know how to add light to the good damn scenes!!! SHE'S A FAIRY!!! She is suposed to glow!

I think we are in agreement here!! What are your thoughts on the new little mermaid??

Oh boy... Lets not go there...
But in short... Nicely put: I dont like it.
I will say one thing though. I like the scene with the song in her head, when shes on land for the first time, contrary to many others who finds it wierd or just doesn't like the song.
Im scared for all the other planned movies... Snow white, Lilo and Stitch, Moana, Hercules, Hunchback of Notre Dame, and I dont even wanna know what else...
At least im somewhat looking forward to Wish
Its sad almost. My favorit movies used to be Disney and Marvel. They are both doing it so wrong these days...
      Anyway. Love ur channel

Quick side note. After writing this I see, you just posted a q/a 😅 Haven't watched it yet, but hope you answers some of my questions in there. Otherwise future content

Haha, yes we plan to upload every other week but it doesn't always go to plan 😂
Definitely check out our q&a and our little mermaid reaction has just gone up to.
In response to who runs the channel, we both do the editing and uploading but yes Ben is the one commenting (hi ✌️😊) and Ben does the thumbnails too. We are currently trying the raise funds to get another editor so we can upload more consistently. That would be great!
Anyways, I've seen you commented lots a while back so just wanted to say thank you for your support ✌️😊

About the commenting: Yeah found your channel a couble of months back and have been binge watching ever since (I do that with a lot of other channels too, plus I... Well I have a life too, so just watching like 10 videos actually takes like a whole week. All cought up now though. Now the problem is there I cant watch multible videos a day anymore, and I like to do wait a few weeks/months and then catch up again. Thats a problem I know (or I think I do) cause the algorithm likes new stuff getting a lot off views, not old stuff. So its better to watch it as soon as they drop)
Okay I promise I have no more to say now 😁
Talk to ya in the next one (and thanks for responding!!!) 👋
