D.I.Y. Duck is a 2024 animated short produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios that commemorates the 90th anniversary of Donald Duck's debut. It was released on June 9, 2024.
Synopsis
This short finds Donald trying his hand at some home repairs which begin with the replacement of a lightbulb and quickly turn into a series of comic catastrophes. His temper flares and his frustration grows as things spiral out of control and lead to an explosive finale.

The short was beautiful, but do you know what was more beautiful?
Seeing Ediz be the one catching the little easter eggs and moments, while making Ben more and more excited. As I once said, usually it's Ben going:
"Oh my gosh! Look at that!!"
With Ediz going:
"... It's alright, ain't it?"
And now, it's Ediz being the one who catches everything and having fun commentary and you can just hear and see how happy it makes Ben. Proud of you two and happy you're having fun with this reaction. Never change, you two wonderful fellas!

Mark Henn was known as the “Disney Princess guy” and I love his work. I am sad that he is retiring. It feels bittersweet. I bet he had more in him for maybe one more traditional animated film.
You’re right about hoping this short leads to more hand-drawn stuff at Disney, mainly with that upcoming Tiana series

Not just the voice was reused, but also the sound effects, and music are from past Disney cartoons. You could tell like the glass breaking.

I enjoyed the short, and I enjoyed all the more watching your reaction! I'm also geeking out over Ediz having actually absorbed so much Disney insight that he spots the Easter eggs before Ben does. Well done!
Someday I want to have a discussion with Ben about where exactly Huey, Louie, and Dewey came from and how "Uncle" Donald came to be their sole parental figure. But this is not the time or place.

And looking into Huey, Dewey and Louie would be a potentially confusing one... I swear in some shorts they are Daisy's little brothers 😅 but I feel like you have extra information that you are holding back 😂
@@EdizAndBen In response to your response, I had to go do some research online, and in the 12-part comic The Life and Times of Scrooge McDuck (which I'm sure you know well). And you're sort of right -- in one Donald short, "Donald's Diary" (in which he dreams that he married Daisy), she has 3 young brothers who look just like Huey, Dewey, and Louie (though they're not explicitly named). But otherwise they're consistently his nephews.
And as a result of this research, I have to eat my words. The boys WERE given an origin in the daily comic strip and in the comic books (and much later in Ducktales), though never in the theatrical shorts. Their mother is Donald's twin sister Della. I originally was trying to make a weak joke, about how in literature (especially melodramatic Victorian literature like Dickens and Brontë), the parentless children who have only a bachelor uncle as their lifelong guardian always turn out to be the bachelor's own secret out-of-wedlock children. But in fact that won't work here, as they have a well-documented family background.
So when should we except the wartime era award show?

Donald's mother also appeared as Whistler's Mother in Reluctant Dragon.
Also, very much agree about the flash animated feel to it. It was a little bit disappointing, but maybe it can be the start to a revival of hand-drawn animation.
I saw this short, I don’t think I saw the actual intro to the Donald Duck short but that is pretty cool they show case that. I was also going to say that picture you spotted of Daisy was in the first shoot when Donald was about to sit down on top of the fireplace it looks like it, there is some other pictures that you missed as well, overall really liked your reaction obviously I love Donald Duck, so really good reaction you guys.
Also there were like talking a bit about Donald Duck as well, celebrating his birthday so you might want to check that if you get the chance to as well it’s on UA-cam somewhere.

@@EdizAndBen yeah it’s only a short video but worth watching about Donald Duck for sure, thanks for the tip, I just saw that video on the making of the Donald Duck short, but Thankyou for reminding me, Thankyou, yeah there was daisy and a couple of other pictures on the fireplace as well, but i couldn’t quiet catch who they were at first I thought they were Huey, Dewey, Louie but i don’t think it is them.

I saw this cartoon. It was OK but I felt like the animation was rather pedestrian by Disney standards. I mean, it was fine; it just didn't have that extra life. Compare it to the last hand-drawn movies Disney did, The Princess and the Frog and Winnie-the-Pooh, and you should see what I mean. Still, I'm not a huge Donald Duck fan or anything, so I wasn't super disappointed.
And it would have been nice to have had the classic theme song.
Yes it's a good start, but felt like they were limited with what they could do... Hopefully this will be the start of more hand drawn animation coming from Disney!!
