He probably just thought you wouldnt enjoy the male stripers...
@@vincentadelbertirigoienboy3182 incorrect, everyone loves a good male striper.
I doubt he was there to kill her initially, he hasn't been shown so far mistreating women if anything he tries so save them in his own messed up way. But it's hard to say for sure
Ok is this homophobic?
Very sad. Obviously, the encounter with Rhaenyra meant a lot more to Ser Cristen than it did to her. You can't play around with people's feelings many times. When Laenor's lover whispered in Cristen's ear about the arrangement of things, I think that was the last straw. I wonder what will happen to him. It seems the Queen values his loyalty though. What a beautiful gown and earrings.
Alicent is acting like Rhaenyra is so dishonorable when she was the start and head of this long never ending snake. You seduced the king in secret because your father told you to behind Rhaenyra’s back so he would marry you, make you the queen so you can pop out babies to insure Rhaenyra isn’t the heir to the Iron Throne?? Wow she’s so honorable
Exactly! I don't like what happened to her but she's no angel.
Indirect dishonourable vs Direct dishonourable
That's why no one wins the civil war
Alicent is my queen
Allicent has a stronger moral faculty than the incestuous blondes. Go team green! #justhavingfun
I think the disconnect is that Alicent is super “dutiful” and envies Rhaes freedom
So Alicent lied to Rhaenyra concerning the relationship that she was ‘ordered’ to create by her father, who was the hand, knowing what manipulation her father planned for the King, but Rhaenyra technically NOT LYING to Alicent about who she gave it up to, leads to Alicent feeling massively betrayed? On a scale of weighing out betrayal between Alicent and Rhaenyra I’d say Alicent really should check herself on that bs, because she absolutely screwed her best friend over ROYALLY
yeah, i didnt understand why alicent is so pissed off.... why does she cares she slept with criston ??
i guess alicent secretely loves rhanarya😋
I'm glad I'm not the only one who thinks that! Alicent totally went behind Rhaenyra's back to get close to the king and technically Rhaenyra didn't lie to Alicent BC she never slept with Daemon. I'm glad Otto's gone he's a manipulative, conniving snake.
I know this story is fictional but since it is set in ancient time, it shouldn't be compared to today's western point of view
pleasing a ruler is not something to be seen as wrong in ancient time, and the KING himself a.k.a. Rhaenyra's father was the one who gave order to Alicent not to tell his daughter, also Alicent was freaking 14 back when she was told to comfort the King, and she was just being a good daughter to Otto Hightower as expected according to the society.. she basically was raised perfectly
and she never lied to Rhaenyra's face, she kept her visit to accompany the King a secret as she was ordered
also *there was no established BFF girl code* among teengirls in ancient time? how would Alicent check herself on the *BFF betrayal*? Rhaenyra was HER PRINCESS, not exactly her BFF as equal (as in today's point of view) and Viserys is HER KING, in term of royal priority she should prioritize her king over her princess, put away the non-existent BFF code
Being virgin among female is put more emphasized in the society, it should be more understandable
@@leedongwok86 okay, however we all know when we’ve been hurt, OBVIOUSLY Rhaenyra was hurt, and Alicent knew she hurt her. So no, you are wrong. We know the basic mores of how to be a decent human being, and when we’ve been hurt by someone we considered a close friend, they did something wrong. I’m going based on the context of the acting of that SPECIFIC SCENE THAT PLAYED IT OUT OF THE KING MAKING HIS ANNOUNCEMENT AND ALICENT STARING DOWN RHAENYRA AND RHAENYRA’S REACTION, THEN THE WAY THE RELATIONSHIP DETERIORATED. So don’t lecture me on that, when in the context of the show, this is what it is played for. We know the difference between basic right and wrong. Even knights of that fictional world have to swear oaths that are impossible to live up to, look at Ser Criston Cole. I’ve read the Dance of the Dragons, and some things were just hinted at, but the additional context of the show, REGARDLESS OF MY WESTERN POINT OF VIEW, seems to dive into the ‘game of thrones’ as it were, and how it’s a sickness in and of itself. My western viewpoint may taint my perception, however it’s pretty damned obvious that both Rhaenyra and Alicent are being pitted against each other by society and power hungry players, because they’re women, period. And even with a western pov, I get it. And you should too. Remind me how many women presidents we’ve had? There have been, I think, a whole 2 female prime ministers. So no ma’am. Go at someone else about those social mores of that time based on the book that really doesn’t give additional context, but the show, co produced and co written by GRRM himself, shows additional context. So either you’re blind to what you are being shown, or you’re only utilizing the book as your guiding light when lecturing me on the mindset of that time.
@@leedongwok86 let me just add that due to the preposterous supposition of your comment, everyone now in orbit around the FUTURE QUEEN, should not be upset at her attitude while attempting to select a suitor, because, ancient times, so then she’s above reproach, no matter how much of an unappreciative brat she is, because ancient times? You need to logically deduce what your supposed ‘ancient times’ assumption leads, because then Alicent wouldn’t have been ordered to seduce the King into marrying her, and there probably wouldn’t have been a war, because why would there be? Ancient times. Even in those times in this fictional world, people still knew stealing was a punishable offense, so is murder, but sometimes people do wrong things, even in ancient times. The more I think about your comment, the less I believe it’s based on the show, which is what this video is about. Are you from Detroit?
I’m mad confused. So Criston Cole murdered Laenor’s guard right in the middle of the party, in the very homeland of the Velaryons, yet he was not even arrested, charged or killed and was free to walk away? That makes absolutely no sense
Maybe the kingsguard > every other soldier or guard.
@@jorgeanderson9032 Nah otherwise they would just go around killing anybody they wanted which is obviously not the case. Disturbing the biggest wedding ceremony in decades alone would be enough to get him hanged by GoT world standards.
agree it make no sense. Maybe rhaenyra speak for him or something we didn't see what happened ? Criston wanted to killed himself maybe they accepted that has his punishement ? hoping it will be explain in futur episode
I can’t believe he’s really that much of a simp…. That he asked her to leave everything she’s ever know to start fresh and become poor with him in esos then ruined the party… A Kingsgaurd should be way more emotionally intelligent then that and he really disappointed me smh
So true!
Rhea looked like a damn cool character, what a shame she had so little screen time
she reminds me a lot of Theon Greyjoy's sister (Yara/Asha) from Game of Thrones
Not gonna lie, the Velaryons looked AMAZING when they entered the wedding room. And I believe Corlys intentionally did not welcome Viserys to make the king see how rich and strong he truly is. Total power move!
"Velarions"? Who are they? Are you referring to the members of House Velaryon? The King knows how rich they are, at this time period they are known as the 2nd richest house/family in Westeros. His cousin is a Princess and they and their children grew up together.
Yes he did & I was glad Corlys made Viserys come to him. The outright disrespect made me very happy lol. Literally made him walk from the gates through their entire palace to present himself before Corlys and I loved it lol.
They rolled in there mobb deep
@@mark7527 .... And your ignorant point is? GRRM is the executive producer and is deeply involved in this production unlike GOT.

19:30 At least another 10 years, which is wild. I'm so disappointed we're losing the young actresses of Rheanyra and Alicent. Both are phenomenal.
Rhaenyra was very specific when Alicent confronted her last episode.
She was vague about her virtues, yes, but she swore on her mother that Damon didn't touch her.
As in "I swear I didn sleep with Daemon". So she didn't actually lie, she just obfuscated the truth.
Exactly but even if she did lie, I wouldn't be mad at her. Why would she tell Alicent something so damaging to her position? Alicent has royal heirs that could replace Rhaenyra and the Hightower's cannot be trusted as they only want to serve themselves. If she lied to protect herself from a friend who already betrayed her, it's just her being smart and playing the game.
Alicent is the sort of person who dislikes any of this obfuscation. She also probably took it as a personal insult for Rhaenerya to mislead her. Maybe ignoring how she gave no warning about her own marriage to the King.
@@nancyjay790 I don't see Alicent as being in the wrong to be offended though. She insisted Rhaenyra's innocence leading to her fathers sacking. Obviously she would feel some way about being played for a fool. It's almost like Rhaenyra pushes Alicent into antagonising her through her actions. Alicent doesn't even start off strongly supporting her son's claim to the throne.
@@REDnBLACKnRED did you forget when she kept dating her father a secret. What Rhaynera did kinda pales in comparison
@@XaldinX She wasn't dating him. Or even openly courting him. And definitely not of her own volition. Her father set it up. Rhaenyra on the other hand makes all her own choices, bad ones at it too.
Daemon definitely embodies the saying "actions speak louder than words". He barely speaks and somehow draws the attention of the room while getting his point across.
As for Daemon killing his wife, I believe that was his full intention from the beginning. With her gone, he has an opportunity to gain more power while getting what he wants which is Rhaenyra and the Throne. And his purpose behind wedding Laena Valeryon is to secure his claim of a powerful navy and with a piece of the Vale he would've had a strong claim in the North.
Sir Corlys said it best "Our worth is not given, it is made". Daemon hated not having control in his life so now he's taking what he wants, regardless of the consequences
Wrong, Daemon doesn't care for the throne, he only cares for Rhaenyra.
@@happylife4471 yea
He doesn't want the throne.
@@sebastianvico9507 I don't even think he cares about Rhaenyra either. He's so unsatisfied that he just wants what other people want but since it's not what he truly wants he just drops it.
In the book he does care for Rhaenyra and his family. Ultimately, he's very self serving and wants his name (and by extension, his family/house) to thrive and live on.
*”Is it better to have lived in peace and be forgotten or die in infamy and have songs sung in your death”*
what a line.
Truly something to ponder.
I love the innuendo of Leonor “crossing swords” in his first scene with Joffrey in this episode 😂
I thought I was the only 1 to notice that! 😂😂
It's not an innuendo. It's a euphemism.

I loved this Episode. First time this show gave me GoT chills. The different locations, the fashion, the Politics, the love complications, the Musical scores ( my goodness ), the drama. Excellent.
Hey wait a minute?! Rhea saw a look in Daemon's eyes that made her feel threatened so she reached for her weapon. He obviously intended to hurt her.
100% he was so stoic, didn't make any sounds then he suddenly move spooked the horse
He just needed to make it look natural so he couldn't use a dagger.
You're right. She figured out that he was going to kill her.
she knew that killing Rhaenyra wasn't a choice for him so she came up with the best choice he'd pick, killing her is more reasonable. and this is Daemon, she knew nothing would draw him back to the Vale if it wasn't for something important.
Yeah, of course he came with the intention to kill her. Why else would he use a disguise?
Rhaenyra did not out and out lie to Alicent. She might have implied that she was still a virgin but all she actually said was that she did not sleep with Daemon.
Lannister with the Hot D version of "women be shoppin" made me wish it was him getting the headful of hamburger helper.
He killed her. During Game of Thrones, Bronn mentions that Ladies fall off their horses and die all the time. Then someone else inherits their money. That's exactly what Daemon does to scare the horse so that it throws her.
Daemon couldn't have killed Rhea with a dagger. He had to make it look like an accident.
Daemon doesn't go anywhere unarmed, he had his sword and at least a dagger in his cloak, but you can't frame a scene where someone is supposed to have died by falling off a horse if you stab them
He obviously didn’t have a sword and a dagger is an assumption. Your comment contradicts itself
His plan was to make her fall from her horse but without him touching her, he manipulated her to panic and and act repulsively indeed she tought he was going to kill her and tried to reach her bow but couldn't control the horse and they fall together, if her last words didn't trigger Daemon he would leave her like that, but she poked the dragon and his wild nature rose again
I think the hand pretty much just wanted his tank of a son to make sure the princess is safe because she could get hurt in the brawl. I mean he knew the sign. He started clocking people, taking people out and then snatch and grab the princess. He is hot and effective. I also love that his brother is a sneaky little rat and I hope that we see more of him because I love that.
Ohhh don’t worry… we will see more of him….
Thank you! I thought I was the only one, at home, screaming "Will someone PLEASE help the King with his chicken?!?!" at my television screen. 😄😄
I mean 😂😂😂😂
He's lucky the hound wasn't there or there'd be no chickens for anybody else
While I am very much enjoying HoD, I'm starting to question some of the character development and choices, especially those that deviate from the (admittedly sketchy) book. For example, Criston cannot be so incredibly dense as to think that Rhaenyra can simply sail away with him to a foreign land. And he cannot be so incredibly stupid as to assault a member of a royal feast in the middle of the room for what really was not any direct insult. Then he just walks away without anyone even questioning him. And Alicent is incredibly naive, even after the passage of some years, if she doesn't even suspect that her father manipulated her into a marriage with Visaerys. The whole wounded friend routine just doesn't hold water for me. Her father's dire prediction of death for her children makes more sense. And finally, could Visaerys actually be so blind that he doesn't see what will happen if he put his daughter on the throne? He doesn't prepare her, he doesn't prepare some kind of alliances or defenses for her. He has to know that a civil war will ensue. And finally, Rhaenyra with her disregard for the small folk and idiocy of sleeping with her Kingsguard is turning out to be kind of an idiot herself. I still like these characters, but I wonder at their internal logic in the story.
that's kinda funny how Rhaenyra just accepts her marriage to a man she didn't even choose after she gets to sleep with Criston. Seems like that's the only measure of freedom for her in her position.
P.S. still think Criston could have rejected her without any serious consequences. She didn't even threaten him yet.
Hated why Creston had to tell to the Queen.... Well...he was rejected and confused.... I just thought he behaved then like a desperate person. Totally low of him. He should still be loyal to the crown as that's his oath.... Just like Jamie Lannister.
The show has to make Rhae look sympathetic in some way by making Criston a "nice guy".
Rhae is so dumb
People are not rooting against her because she is female, they are rooting against her because she is an unintelligent and disrespectful person.
Yea they don't really do a good job at showing how Criston could make such a leap in assumption. I think had they gotten together episode 3, it would've been more realistic. Hell viewers don't even realize they've been intimate for months by the time the wedding happens lol. But I can't buy the idea he TRULY thought she'd give it all up for him. That part just doesn't make sense b/c he's observed her for years & should know she literally just likes to talk shit while growing into her power. He's seen it!! If we did, he had so lmao. Like there's no way he could've pictured them living happily ever after. She has a fucking dragon!!! Like bro lmao
Did you guys notice Criston punched the shit out of Leanor ... isn't that like a death sentence lol
Yeah I was wondering about that myself. Like he punched the princess’s husband and that husband is the eldest son of the second most powerful house in Westeros. Like how wasn’t he eaten by Seasmoke or something.
@@PerfectDark0 facts lol
@@PerfectDark0 but hey , maybe that's why he decided to commit suicide
@@PerfectDark0 how dare you make this accusation of my son he only penetrates other men in combat
"And are we just gonna ignore how Viserys eats?" 🤣🤣😂😂😂
I think Daemon didnt plan to kill her, he saw the oppurtunity after she insulted him and finished her.
Seeing Lyonel as the Hand made me so happy; i love his character and i hope he'll be on the Rhaenyra's side.
The thing that upsetted me the most is Criston Cole's behaviors. It's crystal clear that the throne has big importance to Rhaenyra, why ask her to leave with him? He knows Rhaenyra for how long, 4-5 years? She talked with him about being the heir, burdens on her shoulders, her daddy issues and stuff. He must have known that she would never accept his offer. BUT him telling Alicent what happened between him and princess? Boi that's your princess, you sworn to be loyal to her. Wth.
Alicent getting mad about being lied to... Okay, but is it worth starting a war? She didnt actually lie to her either, she said she didnt sleep with Daemon and it's true. Alicent could have assumed she tried to save face and her guard. They could've talked.. smh..
And as much as i love Lyonel, his son stirred up some nasty stuff this episode. Just as I thought we're done with Otto :(
Edit: also i have a question.. Criston Cole murdered a man in princess' feast; punched the future king consort and walked away? Alive?!?!?!
And he ruined his charges costly wedding, the family’s reputation and public image over being mad about his indiscretions.
Yh honestly Cole went to the top of the shit list after this episode. Guy was just selfish and turned extremely bitter when he didn't get what he wanted. Alicent... I can understand her given that the entire reason her father was sent away was because the King took his word for slander/gossip when there was truth to it. Along with his parting words on the succession and heirs etc.
"Edit: also i have a question.. Criston Cole murdered a man in princess' feast; punched the future king consort and walked away? Alive?!?!?!" this part is the biggest bullshit. He either has to be executed or banished. To be fair he acted so honorably and felt guilty to a point when he spilled the beans about him and Rhaenyra that he was ready to die. And for some reason just after a few weeks or months, even though it is no longer some special secret, he gets mad to a point of killing a significant person and trying to hide that event.
You sound like a trigerred feminist...
Criston was selfish even in his request to marry rhaenyra he only did that to stop the pain of his guilt towards what he's done..
The Queen wasn’t just wearing a green dress, it was a green dress that was fancier than the bride. Showing up a bride at her own wedding is a _massive_ “fuck you”.
It was that green is symbolic to the hightowers and old town. It was even mentioned in the scene
@@rat_5 it wasn’t JUST green, a symbol can represent more than one thing
@@vysharra Fair point. All that combined with the fact that she just had to make a late dramatic entrance
Opbn
The king doesn’t do anything about it ?
"Four Peter Balishes out of five" had me !!!😂
i think giving the knowledge to Criston abt the fact that Rhaenyra was almost losing her maidenhood to Daemon instead of him. then switching to him last minute will create more believability of Cristons outrage. he mightve seen right there when rhaenyra and daemon dancing . that he was indeed was only a rebound for a quick lusts and passion. knowing himself only as a rebound. yet some people see through him that he was so jealous of Rhaenyra and Daemon and now Laenor just made him snap. i dont understand why they dont just do that. 😅
Yes. It's so very sad.
Criston is the ONLY character that has any endearing qualities what so ever. I'm glad the Queen was there to stop him, im intrigued to see where his story is going to go.
It's in the GOT 'universe' so I doubt a happy ending in on the cards lol. But I hope he finds some happiness before the end. I've a bad feeling his character is going to take a dark turn. My feeling is the queen will tell him about her suspicions with Daemon and Rhaenyra and its going to darken his heart and make him a villain.
He had no idea about that rumor. Hence why the Queen was so surprised at his admission.
I think Set Creston will have a deeper role further. Glad the queen stopped him
@@mmc6657 Yep, he is, from now on, going to be Rhaenyra's biggest and most bitterest foe. He gave her his chastity, heart and honor. He's nothing without those virtues. 😭
It didn’t even occur to me that Dameon didn’t go there to kill her, I thought it was obvious immediately. He could’ve waited for her at the hold, but he knew where she was and only appears after the cousin leaves. He’s also got his hood on, which is a call back to Euron’s “I am the storm, brother” scene but most importantly, hiding his golden hair and he’s not wearing anything flashy as a prince would. He goes do to grab the piece of leather near the saddle and mouth to bring the horse closer to him but the horse steps back showing the animal senses danger and unease…and she goes for her bow because she knows what Dameon is like and wants, she clues in too late as to why he’s there as that now the only chance he has at the throne is getting rid of her to remarry. I think her falling and being paralyzed was just lucky for him because it would look more natural, but when she calls him a craven he kills her with and without mercy.
Off topic: anyone think Larys looks like even creepier Onision?
Even knowing the outcome of the feast, I was still shocked, and even sickened, at how it happened.
How he was not executed?
I think they just wanted to showcase the absolute strength of strong in that scene. He literally tossed those guys😂
What an episode. Haven’t even watched the breakdown yet but cannot wait!!
She didn't reach for her bow to attack him. She reached in defense. Also he could have had a dagger under his cloak, he didn't use it because stab wounds would make it obvious that is a murder.
Anyway that kill disgusted me, I don't understand how can anyone like Daemon.
Exactly. She "read the room" as to why he was there and went to defend herself. And a blade absolutely would have left evidence of murder.
Daemon is the best character so far. He isn't hungry for power. He defeated crab 🦀. Man gave the dragon egg back which I thought he deserved to have. He made sure the realm is running smoothly by executing thieves. He took the princess out partying , he mingles with locals rather than being all uptight Royalty, how you not like him. Just because he didn't want to be with the girl , he never liked ?
@@asfandnasar I don't know what you've been watching, but Daemon threw tantrums because his King brother didn't make him the Hand, he celebrated the death of his baby nephew because he didn't want to give up being heir, usurp Dragonstone when his niece was already declared heir, not to mention him wanting to wed that same niece which would have made him King consort when she takes over - dude wants power, let's be honest about that. Sure, he defeated the Crabfeeder, but in doing so, he would rather embark on a suicide mission than receive help from his brother. The dragon egg, dude stole it. And of all the eggs he could have stolen, he deliberately chose the one chosen for dead baby nephew. He even lied about his mistress being pregnant to try to justify his crime. "He made sure the realm was running smoothly by executing thieves" lol what he did was extrajudicial killing, an abuse of power, a tyrannical move. He took his teenage niece out to a brothel where he left her after making out with her. He also made sure she got recognized in such scandalous situation despite knowing how the people already rejects her to inherit the throne. He mingles with whores, that's that. He could care less about the rest of the folks (remember him terrorizing the city?). Lastly, not liking a girl or even your wife is one thing, but Daemon straight out killed her and has the audacity to collect all inheritance. The question is how can you like him??
@@asfandnasar lol
He's a badass character
I agree with that.
But how can you even justify his all wrongdoings in sugary coated words is beyond me
@@boredstranger7522 daemon is a bit of an ass but he is by far the most interesting character in the series thus far. I'm loving his antics tbh, and just remember, whenever you think he's the biggest cunt in the world, Joffrey Baratheon and Ramsay Bolton have yet to be born.
I'm sad that we won't be seeing the two young ladies again. They really did a great job in these 5 episodes and brought so much emotional range to their characters. But I understand they can't really linger much on the early years of the rivalry.
For me, Daemon obviously approached his wife with bad intentions. Whether he had planned to have someone shoot her from above or pretended in order to bait her, he had already decided to harm her. I sincerely hope they stick to the book and he doesn't get a dime of her inheritance. I like Daemon as a character but that was an a****le move. I hope Laena knocks him into shape; she doesn't seem like a pushover and I think she won't ~silently suffer.
As for Rhaenyra and Laenor, I believe their match was perfect for both. Rhaenyra gets a husband who understands her circumstances (thanks to his mother's similar experience) and won't really try to control her. And Laenor gets a wife who won't try to "change" him and instead offer a layer of protection against any unpleasant rumours. Boo at Cole for ruining that. I know he's supposed to be honorable and what not, but he's just acting dumb now. Even if he hates Rhaenyra, he should at least remain loyal to the Crown and that means not starting trouble. I'm glad we're moving on to Harwin next, he seems more reliable.
When it comes to Alicent, I think she genuinely cared for Rhaenyra. I would go one step further and say Alicent self-projects on Rhaenyra. Even though she's envious, she also hopes Rhaenyra can have what she gave up (independence, love, etc). That's why she was so disappointed with Rhaenyra. If Rhaenyra had claimed that Daemon forced her, Alicent would have been on her side 100%.
It kinda sucked that they introduced two new characters just to kill them in the same episode but both had memorable deaths.
Nice breakdown of the episode, nice to see others thoughts. I do have something to add to the Laenor storyline.
As the eldest son of one of the most powerful families, you would think he'd be more discreet about his sexually. The looks and gentle touchs he shared with his lover were extremely risky. Especially at his 'engagement party' in the presence of so many people. The boyfriend showed no discretion at all when he confronted Ser Criston.
Even Loras and Renly in GOT had more discretion and thats saying something lol. And if anyone was ever suspicious about them, how he reacted to his death and clinging to his corpse would have confirmed it. I know its just a TV show haha but from my own experience of having relationships while in the closet, these are rookie mistakes.
@@mmc6657 I wonder if he doesn't particularly care if he's discovered. Considering both his parents know and his family is quite powerful, maybe he feels like he doesn't really have to hide.
@@Rosula_D you may be right. I think its more likely he's just got comfortable in his home situation, and prehaps forgot himself in the capital.
I do not understand Alicent behaving as if she was not the one who trashed the friendship between them. They stopped big friends when she married her father and birthed Aegon.
Are we forgetting Rhaenrya still has to uphold the secret Viserys told her. So she couldn’t just run off…
I saw someone mention on FB why are they leaning into the prophecy so much when we as the audience know the outcome and I think this moment is one of the reasons why.
I was waiting all day for this breakdown
Daemon definitely came to Rimstone with the intention of getting rid of his wife
Maybe he hadn't decided on the method exactly, or was calculating his move but his wife suddenly realizing his intention of marrying Rhaenyra (thus Rhea had to die) definitely made him chose to kill her there with that method
only if he wasn't the one who spooked the horse
nah Daemon is murderous anyway
If he dindnt come toRimstone with the intention tokill his wife then everybody would know he was in Rimstone. I'm still not sure how he could have secretly arrived. It cant be too easy for the kings brother to travel great distances incognito
Maybe that was his intention but at the same time the woman opened the door of opportunity, he didn't exactly have any woman in hand, he may have been calculating his moved or not but he just that as an opportunity, I like the guy he fits the description of a dude who doesn't give an F and can die to protect his ego than ask for help
He came to kill her, of course. Though the method was not his intent, it was just fortuitous that her horse buckled and threw her off and she broke her spine, rending her paralyzed from the neck down. And at this point the intended murder turned into a mercykill.
@@andrewlindsay4773 I'm sure when you have a trained dragon you can find ways to get close enough to finish the trek on foot.
If the dragon was sighted everyone would know he had been there. I think this is a poorly thought out change from what is in the books. Seems like he would have needed a teleporting to keep his involvement secret
She reaches for the bow as it's obvious he's threatening her and no doubt has hidden a dagger or something else with which he plans to kill her.

This Episode was like Classic GOT Varys, Litttlefinger and all the Golden Age Players, and Alicent is starting to become a serious player as well her dad gave her a Cold Warning about Kill or be Killed and she took it to heart.
I love the fact that ABOSOLUTELY NO ONE IS morally incorrupt in this show, but I like so many of them. More horrible the character, more I am interested in seeing them win. Powerful writing.
Love your insight bro! Thanks!
Easily the best breakdowns of HotD.
Greaaat job with the cutaway edits today lol “sure, Jan” ooo that got me 👏🏽😂
Building models had a secondary use: before widespread literacy, and excellent drafting on quality paper, building models were used as blueprints. And before architecture was established as a science, those models would be used to ensure the designs were stable.
Also, since it’s a TV show, those are likely scale models used as the basis for all that great CGI doubling as cool set dressing.
I love the city model in the King's quarters. I'm a Building Surveyor so it's obviously an interest of mine. You don't usually see models these days unfortunately, unless you count 3D BIM layouts lol. I have some original antique and vintage building plans and elevations. I would love to find a model to add to the collection. Unfortunately not many survive, and those that do are in museums.
Always immediately viewing your breakdown after every episode....I'm so lucky i found your amazing channel big thumbs up to you 😎🔥🔥👌
I literally laughed at loud at “Stephanie, please take me back.”😆🤣
Amazing Commentary on the episode and show and backgrounds and point of views. Keep up the great work sir. :) I wove this show.!
They could easily keep these same actresses through the time jumps. Theyre already keeping the other actors. Thats my biggest gripe. My wife is pissed about it too. Young Rhanerya is as Targaryen as it gets.
Poor Joffrey he didn’t need to die but cristen was butt hurt 😂
For what? Literally dude is a side dick and know your place please. Shezzz, the audacity to ask Princess to run away with him to Essos for what? "POVERTY and DRAGONLESS?" lol. Also, why would she left her princess life for side piece, dude get out of here.
Ser Crispen is a knob.
Cristen realized he would literally be butthurt if he didnt kill that freak
Are you sure it's not Joffery who was butt hurt...
@@kkhunt7 lol 😆
1. Alicent is mad because he felt betrayed by the King and Rhaenyra. they kicked his father's out because he's telling the truth and she felt it's not fair for his father. also, she felt betrayed by Rhaenyra whom she defend despite of her husband & father says about her. she was so furious because she felt they treated her unfairly. she felt she'd sacrifice so much while Rhaenyra didn't. now she felt guilty because she didn't believed her father and about to pay close attention to his father from now on.
2. I felt so bad for Viserys. he's trying to carry everyone's burden here. he knew Daemon is the one who killed his wife, he didn't say anything cuz Daemon is bound by his unspoken duty as a brother. I think he's suspecting that Daemon killed his wife in order to marry Rhaenyra. in the wedding scene, he's afraid that Daemon would kill his daughter/kidnap her. he's afraid of her safety. all along he just wanna be a good King, father, brother and husband to them. he knew he's humiliated by the Velaryons but didn't say anything because he felt like he didn't have bargaining position.
3. Rhaenyra seems to like Ser Criston's idea of marrying someone she loves and being nameless. I notice how she's smiling. but after her father showed her the Prophecy from the previous eps., she's kinda felt like she's bound to her duty and couldn't just run away with him.
4. Daemon indeed has the intention to kill his wife in order to marry Rhaenyra. Viserys only reason not to marrying him off to Rhaenyra is because he has a wife. so he might be think 'if I had no wife then I could marry her' so he went to the Vale to kil her and make it as it was an accident so that Viserys won't have any reason to reject his proposal next time. he chose a particular time when she's hunting. I'm sure, at least he knew her activity.
but he was too late. it seems like he wasn't even invited. it took me 5 eps to be sure if Daemon loves Rhaenyra. tbh, I wasn't sure before but now I know he has some kind of obsession for her. obsession and love is quite different. that doesn't mean he didn't love her, he might be loves her but he didn't love her the way Ser Criston loves her. somehow Rhaenyra always managed to finds out his true motive. but this time she shove it up down his throat to let him know that he can't play her no more. but somehow it turns him on (?). Daemon didn't like to lose, especially at his own game and Rhaenyra always finds a way to take over his game. it makes him frustrated and wanting her more at the same time. if it wasn't for that scream, I'm sure he'll kiss her in front of everyone and let them know that he owns her (or he did?). he's crazy but calculated.
Otto is telling the truth but ONLY for his OWN benefit. They are not trying to be fair or just, Otto is planning a coup. None of this would have happened if the King would have made Daemon his Hand, which is what he really wanted.
I know we just met Rhea, but I trust her way more than I trust Daemon. So if she felt like she needed to pull out the strap, then that was probably the right move (at the time).
Your commentary is HILARIOUS!!! Subscribed!
Oh my goodness, your videos are so awesome!! ❤Love them!
I know it was funny but the King was moving like he can’t feel his hands. If he’s dangerously diabetic, then peripheral neuropathy could be the culprit. Or if he has leprosy, his disease could have attacked the nerves there. Both explain the king’s inability to heal and his seeming immunity to the pain of his deteriorating condition. But you would expect blindness if he was diabetic that long.
Leprosy
The whole episode was about how people can’t keep their mouth shut 😂
great analysis. I like how you pointed out Daemon's rock
Dude! Best recap evvvvvveerrrrrr!!!!!!! Thank you
You and Stephanie are meant to be!
Can't wait for the next episode
Well explained and so funny in between small videos 😂
Daemon didn’t use a weapon because he wanted / needed it to look like an accident. He almost certainly had a weapon, the idea that he would ever travel without a weapon is ludicrous. He also clearly moved towards to Horse to spook it and throw her off, you don’t have to physically push a horse over (which is pretty much impossible anyway) to get it to rear up.
I was thinking he must have smelled like dragon, having probably flown there, and known that moving directly in front of the horse (its blind spot) smelling like dragon would spook it.
Didn’t Drae “only” swear on her mother that she didn’t sleep with Daemon? A small but significant distinction.
For me this Episode was the best
And daemon entry just wow
I think Daemon wanted and planned to kill his wife. If he is in the Veil to reconcile with his wife, why meet her in the field? I presume they have a nice warm castle for him to wait for her.
Alicent threw herself at the King and now she’s mad because Rhaenyra lied to her step mother about losing her virginity. So petty.
Alicent really slayed with that entrance
I love her
I'm really looking forward to the time skip!
this show is getting better and better
if youre gonna get married in westeros dont have a wedding. just go to the medieval courthouse and call it a day. i beg of you
His demeanor, was the first one to wield a weapon... His demeanor WAS the weapon, to entice her weapon... He had her dead as soon as He saw her. Yes, He came there to kill Her.
Are you just gonna pretend those tapestries in Alicents bedroom don’t exist?
😂
We are really enjoying your recaps. Keep up the great work!!
Alicent is a hypocrite when it comes to witholding secrete about relationships, she didn’t tell rhaenyra that she was seeing her dad in secret until her dad announced who he was marrying, while she has the audacity to get mad over a hookup, i know theres a lot more factors to her rage but part of it is petty
Did anyone else clock the possible link between the Mavales Flower being from Braavos and the possible link to Dhaenerys's Lemon Tree and Red Door? Possible clue or Red Herring?
I'm not fan of Allicent just believing Ser Criston and that Strong dude over Rhynaera, no one believed that she didn't seduce the King during his mourning, so why is she just ready to accept their words over hers, Allicent has known Rhynaera longer, this distrust should've come later when the babies pop out. Also that Ser Cristo dude just confessing now instead of later is also annoying because he should be dead immediately after broadcasting hisself, spreading rumors/truths about the princess when you've sworn an oath should be a no no, but Allicent just trusts this.. Anyway not a fan this.
. Her father just left kings landing after warning her that rhynaera would ki her children if she assends the throne so she is pretty alone and the one person she might have believed she heard from two people that she lied to her. In the first place I don't think she really believed ryhnaera she just choose to believe her
@@adedayooyegunju828 I don't know, most of what Otto said can be choked up to his "put Aegon on the Throne" wish, and being alone as these episodes keep suggesting she is, makes more dubious that Allicent would take a man's word over her childhood friend when that's the only connection to her old self she has, doubt her word yes, but not to distrust her openly... I just think this show hasn't been subtle enough to make a believer out of me, I can see the checkpoints too clearly, I mean that wedding fight did nothing than prove that Laenor is gay, and Rhynaera gets some Strong hotD
@@lastjohns9717 let me put it this way if you know about the history of Royal families around the world then you will understand why alicent believes her father especially when she found the slightest suspicion that rynaera lied to her. She is only human it doesn't take much for her to believe especially when she is isolated in kings landing. She may not like her father but she knew he was always for her always. She has nobody besides her and she said so herself for the last two episodes. To be honest she would have to be stupid not the try and safeguard her children's lives and she doesn't seem like the type.
To be honest as a reader of the books just take this first five episodes as the preamble because the real story is just beginning. They had to establish the back story and having it not interfare with the real story through constant explaining and flashbacks. That is why apart from the royal family most of the other noble houses have not been fleshed out because the time jump goes significantly into the future and they could not cast younger versions of all the members of the noble houses. The baratheons, starks and many smaller houses have not been introduced yet. Be patient
Larys Strong is HOTD Littlefinger, Littlefinger caused a rebellion cause he spilled some tea, this dude (according to the show) will cause a civil war. Imagine if Larys hadn't manipulated Alicent like that. And for what purpose? How does chaos benefit him?
Edit: oops sorry typed this comment 30 seconds before I got to the part where you said Larys Strong is giving Littlefinger vibes
This was way more tense than the red wedding. Omg. Stellar episode!
Hum, was hoping for a better explaination of Ser Cristons behavior. If he is such a "good" night, why did he abandon his pledge to protect the Princess with his life by confessing to the Queen what she did not ask? Granted he did not get what "he" wanted, but he was asking Rhaenyra to give up so much more,; the throne, yet she was only asking him to give up marriage, she did not reject him or his affection. Being a Knight, he is full aware of how royal pairings and duty to the Kingdom has its order. He would have had her love and great power & wealth by remaining her lover. So, I find his behavior out or reason and character for a Knight of his stature and who has sworn loyalty to her before the King, and to tell the Queen was a betrayal to the King and Rhaenyra, his future Queen. At this point now as Queen, Rhaenyra could have Alicent & Ser Criston put to death for treason should they bring up the issue ever again. They both have plausible motive for betrayal and discourse.
I think Lionel used the King's inquiry of where Rhanera might have been as the first reason but the close second was that his son can show his ability and get him promoted. Other random detail was that Dameon for the second time has left Rheanera in a dangerous situation without a hint of trying to protect her.
The language of cinema: Damon showed up in a dark hood with part of his face covered, which means he came with dark intentions he wants to hide.
Also, a woman who reaches for a weapon when she’s safe on a horse and faced with her own husband is either trying to murder him or protecting herself. It’s a good maybemaybemaybe situation. Was it her intuition that he was dangerous to her or was it her murderous intent towards her unfaithful husband?
definitely that she was worried and knew he had malicious intent. you can see it on the look in her face, she had no intentions of randomly murdering him. she was trying to protect herself once she knew what he was there for.
She also was talking about Daemon's intentions with Rhaenyra. She was wondering if he was going to either kill Rhaenyra or (and she does not say this out loud) somehow marry her. And before he can marry Rhaenyra he would have to get rid of Rhea which is why she reached for her weapon cause in her head she already assumed that he was gonna choose the latter and thought she was in danger.
He got the intention to spook the horse. He's so calm not speak a words so sudden move made the horse jumped
@@dianne7129 yeah definitely
@@dianne7129 correct!!!!
Sir Criston has his sights set waaaay to high. No princess is gonna give up her crown. no matter how good the D is. sorry. he should've taken the deal.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
😂😢😆 ikr! Should've just been loyal to the crown.
Larys immediately reminded me of Littlefinger the way he was trying to manipulate Alicent.
He really offered her a chance to run away and be broke with him😂 or she can be queen and have dragons , servant and a army 😂😂😂😂😂😂
That's what makes love unrealistic? Who will give all that for love!
Oh Daemon meant to murder her. 100%. If you think Rhea instigated that whole chain of events, you weren't paying attention. The way Daemon approached the horse was spooking it to begin with, and as Rhea was spelling out his possible intentions, you can see the realization register on her face as she speaks. By offing her, Daemon stands to inherit what was rightfully hers, as well as now being widowed and free to remarry.
He knew what he was doing, even if he perhaps did not know exactly how he was going to do it. He just needed to make it look like an accident.
He's an absolute prick, but hard not to like. Cunning af.
Exactly! I don’t know why more people didn’t see that. He spooked the horse, and then when she realized why he was actually there, she went for her weapon for protection.
@@pixiehopper8 What most didn't realize is *how* he spooked the horse - it's because he moved close enough it could smell his dragon, which is how he was able to enter the Vale in secret & confront Rhea without anyone else being aware.
DUDE! Your humor is matchless XDDDDD
I didn't read the books so I have absolutely no idea what's going to happen next other than the time jump. But I wanted to comment on how how much Daemon reminds me of Alexander Sarsgard from "True Blood" Every time they show him, I immediately think of him.
The urge to spoil it is tempting
😂
the look from Lyonel to Harwin was my second favorite part after Aliicent's dagger greeting to Rhae.
These Alicent discovery of Rhaenyra's secret will her weapon against her. And Sir Criston will surely like be her ally now that Rhaenyra rejected him because of her duty as heir.
I wouldn't be surprised if there's something else as well....romance
Everbody's grasping at straws trying to make excuses for Daemon.
He's evil, no question about it anymore.
Really not sure why Daemon appeared to be willing to walk off on a quadriplegic lady Rhea without killing her. I’m guessing someone would have found her before long. I suppose it was a means to sneak in another jab at his issues with impotence as an analogy that if Daemon can’t “rise to the occasion” he can’t rise to be King. Whatever the case may be Daemon is surely battling more than a few of his own demons.
It plays off more with the idea that he may or may not have had the intention of killing her, at least not just then. It would be rather lazy if they had his character walk away and then back to finish the just solely because the writers wanted to make a joke.
Bran survivng was a miracle she wouldn't have lived long at all so if he had walked it would have been fine
Idek she was quadriplegic
@@moneymantra7318 He stepped on her arm and she didn’t seem to feel it.
2:00 As he beat the messenger, Daemon didn't say a word.
As with the "incident" with his wife... When he is in silent mode, apparently the situation escalates. It doesn't look like an accident.
This might’ve been my fav episode so far. The shots were GORGEOUS … the acting was so human and real. Love the complexity to each character
We can all know now Dany was actually across the narrow sea as a child. That red flower tree was cannon for Pentos lol
sir cristen slapping the future king and killing the knight of kisses out of anger and just being aloud to murder someone is kinda cheesy imo. Also him just confessing to Alicent was also kinda meh imo . This whole episode was kinda boring imo
Yeah dude it wasn’t very good a lot of the scenes felt really forced idk if it was the actors or just the storytelling but something was off
@@lorddaquanofhouserastafari4177 I think it the lack of attn to the little details. I think the show overall has been good but this episode just was all over the place. Showing Damion grabbing her face about to kiss her in front of the whole room without anyone even reacting at all was another part that made no sense.
@@zonabot6029 yeah I know it was kinda dumb and risky I mean when he walked in alone everybody was whispering about him then he does that and no one bats an eye and then criston cole murders a man dusting the wedding and he just gets to walk out and people say this show is soo good
@@lorddaquanofhouserastafari4177 exactly. I think overall the show is ok so far. It’s not bad but it’s not great. This episode definitely was pretty bad but we will see how they explain some of these things
Wow Daemon’s nuts. His “bronze bitch” is the most attractive character I’ve seen on the show so far.
"Maybe Daemon had good intentions but she started talking too much smack." I think we need to stop trying to excuse Daemon's horrible actions. He went there with the sole intention of killing his wife.
The Targaryen chicken dance had me crying.
I think Daemon wasn't going to do anything until his wife suspected that he was going to kill her, he just decided to take the opportunity because he looks up like he was signaling an archer or assassin. He's such a drama queen!
idk, but I think he intended to kill her in order to marry Rhaenyra. on the last eps, Viserys said that he can't marry Rhaenyra cuz he has a wife. so he probably think 'if I had no wife then I could marry her' so he went to the Vale to kill his wife. that way Viserys won't stand a chance to reject him anymore.
Lady Rhea knew his intention. she knew Daemon wouldn't kill 'the little girl'. he's a Targaryen so it's way reasonable for him to marry the girl. Lady Rhea grabbed her bow after she realized the possibility of marrying the little girl instead of killing her. and it's way more reasonable to kill his wife whom he hates.
He was definately going to kill her. Demon not playing checkers hes playing chess!!!
Ser Harwin Strong, known as Breakbones. He rescue the Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen during the fight.
He served as a captain in the City Watch of King's Landing. The rumored lover of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Harwin is believed by some to have been the real father of her three sons with her first husband Ser Laenor Velaryon, (Jacaerys, Lucerys, and Joffrey).
Damon absolutely intended on killing her, otherwise he wouldn't have been there.
Good video.
