- My go-to recipe is biscuits made with White Lily Self-Rising, Crisco shortening, and whole buttermilk. White Lily flour is 12% protein, which helps to create a light and fluffy biscuit. You can make wonderful biscuits. Practice makes perfect.
2 cups of White Lily self-rising flour
1/4 cup Crisco shortening
2/3 - 3/4 cup buttermilk

I would’ve made sausage gravy that’s my favorite. But you had me at biscuit cousin.😍
I might make gravy one day this week. I did eat a sausage biscuit this morning (Tuesday). Actually, I've been grazing all day!

❤❤ I have made biscuits with self Flour for many years....❤❤ The ones I learned it from only use milk and there... I know different people put something else like Buttermilk.Or you'll yogurt, but just milk still does a job.Thank you for sharing my 🧡
Hey Mrs. Peach, Nice to hear from you. Yes, buttermilk or milk. Sometimes, I make them vegan for my daughter using plant-based milk. One lady I knew liked using cream. I haven't used yogurt. I do have some Greek yogurt. I might try those and see how they taste. I want to experiment when cooking.
@@helencantimagine It will be delicious anyway you make them!!!
I used to make good biscuits when I lived in Tennessee but when I moved to California you couldn’t get self rising flour or meal either. And when I tried to add the extra ingredients to make them it never turned right. So I gave up.😊
Years ago, I used all-purpose flour and added baking powder and salt when making biscuits. It was always different from self-rising. I exchanged some messages with Mrs. Peaches. She's a sweet lady.
@@helencantimagine oh that’s great! She is sweet😊You can find self rising flour and meal now all these years later, but it’s still not as plentiful as in the south.😊
@@martha_makes_art It's so interesting how groceries differ in various areas of the country.
