    Get your butter from freezer and shred it into you flour. I believe, this will add some volume to your biscuits in the oven...

    If you add more liquid, the dough will become shaggy, Your dough was dry…YES, you can add buttermilk, half & half, sour cream, heavy cream etc., and your biscuits will be MORE moist…YOU MAY CONSIDER BRUSHING YOUR BISCUITS BOTH BEFORE AND AFTER WITH MELTED BUTTER., IT HELPS WITH MOISTURE AND GIVES A MORE EVEN GOLDEN BROWN.

    If you don't have White lily, you can use 1 1/2 cup of self-rising flour and 1/2 cup of cake flour. White lily has less gluten than other brands of flour, so the cake flour will help give the biscuit that light fluffy texture.

      Hey! Thanks for the question. We recommend the White Lily self rising flour; if you don't have white lily, you could use another brand of flour, who also makes a self rising flour. If you don't have self rising flour, then you just need to add baking powder to regular flour. For every cup of flour, you'll add 1.5 teaspoons baking powder and 1/4 teaspoon salt. Hope that helps!

    If you use the heavy cream you really don’t need the butter. The cream has enough fat. Thank goodness you didn’t put sugar in the mix. Contrary to popular belief, sugar in biscuits and cornbread is not southern , it’s northern

      @@pl747 That's what I understand is an alternative to White Lilly. In certain areas outside of the south. South Carolinian here. Blessed with White Lilly. You're looking for a fine ground white wheat flour.

    If you really know how to make biscuits, You should know that any kind of flour will do! And that we knead Biscuits with our hands, Not cut them out.

      Hello! Thank you for your comment. Yes, that is one of about a million ways to make biscuits. We have found that cutting the biscuits with a sharp edge makes them more symmetrical and taller. But sorry, going to have to agree to disagree about the flour. White Lily is a soft winter wheat and makes a more tender biscuit, hands down. #teamwhitelily
