Thanks for video it gives me ideas! Also I can appreciate that old vice too! I have an old Dunlap/Sears drill press from the 40's. Not a single peice of plastic anywhere on it!

I practiced this skill a good deal. That's needed to make the second bend, and I haven't really mastered that yet. That's especially difficult to do with 1/4" material, which I favor.
I'm experimenting with drilling a hole in some steel to make those bends effectively. A vice, plyers and such doesn't really cut it.
In reviewing your video, I see you keep the end long while making the first two bends, and I'll have to try that.
Yes, you can get these hooks cheaply, at least the small diameter ones.
I've seen suggestions that retail stores throw out 1/4" hooks not needed for retail displays. I'll have to look around for some of that, too.

This approach is handy when you want to make any kind of a custom hook to meet your own specific needs. Simple enough, but sometimes a simple idea doesn't come to you unless you've seen someone else show it first.

Good stuff. It could be a good idea to file down the sharp end of the hook though.

On Amazon you can pick a thousand of these for $10. I’ll pass on this for now.

I am with ome folks here.....come on...I am going to put in 20 minutes or so to make some hooks that at harbor freiht are 5 dollars for 50. I would rather build a closet shelf, table, insulate my attic, seal my a..c vents.....not worth the time no matter how good it makes me feel

You do know you can buy steel pegboard hooks in this shape for next to nothing, yes? While at the store, look around for these things called "Nails, "Screws," and "Washers."
