Quick Tip: Using Pegboard without the Peg Hooks

- Pegboard is extremely useful in the shop but sometimes you do not have peg hooks. Here is another method to use to mount the tools without peg hooks.

Hey Paw Paw,I know this is off the subject but I was wondering if you could help me out with some advice..I’m in the process of buying a Wen mini lathe ..it doesn’t say what all comes with it but I read in the comments where someone says not to forget to buy the chucks,blades,etc bcuz it doesn’t come with the lathe..my question is....what all do I need ? What do I need to buy in order to start pen turning? Like what pen turning kits do I need? What chuck and what knives? I’d like to order it all at once..I’m gonna order it through Home Depot and it’s the 8”x13” mini lathe..

Great workaround for a portable type pegboard. Won't work if you have pegboard that is permanently mounted (no frame - just board screwed to two, or more, studs).

That is a good idea. Just curious why you covered up the outlet with the peg board?
I have always disliked pegboards because the pegs never seemed to stay put, I have even used hot glue to attempt to secure the pegs. Suggestion if you have a Tractor Supply near you you can purchase hardware by the pound much cheaper than the packed hardware from the big box store😁🛫

To me this is very clumsy. I have found that I can make "hooks" from scrap pieces of wood and screw in L-hooks into the wooden hook that I made, then hang it on the peg board. This allows me to custom make my hooks that I can easily rearrange as I desire. There are UA-cam posts showing this method.

Bolts get expensive, pegboard hooks are cheaper and make changes easier and faster.
Seems to me to not be one of your best suggestions overall. Does it work? Sure it does but in doing so it defeats the main feature of a peg board: The ability to re arrange as needed based on demands. Most peg boards are secured in a more permanent fashion and that in itself negates this method obviously. Additionally you are limited to the amount of 1/4 -20 bolts and not having enough on hand then off too hardware store uou go. At that point might as well buy the correct hooks and do it right.
