Jasnah is such a deep and interesting character whose moral compass is so interesting when compared to others both on her side and opposing her, and this silly sitcom video captures the entirety of her character perfectly.
My girlfriend recently started WoK and I’m excited to send her this as soon as she’s past the alley scene. Started her Stormlight meme journey off right.
On the one hand she's a completely ruthless pragmatist, but on the other hand she's so idealistic that one of her first acts as Queen was to abolish slavery!
[Oathbringer spoilers] Like when she was about to murder Renarin straight away, no questions asked when she figured out he his spren was a voidspren. Like sheesh calm donw a little
I'm worried about Jasnah, because it seems like Sanderson is setting her up as a tragic character. Unless she starts to see things the other way, she appears to have the fatal flaw of being incapable of seeing herself in the wrong.
He's such a sweet old man, too bad he's a background character and won't become a massive part of the story. At least we know that he isn't secretly evil though
I’ve only read the series once and when I did, I zoomed through these books as if they would disappear the next day. These skits are reminding me of all the pain I forgot
I tell my friend "I don't trust Jasnah and if I lived in the same world as her I'd do everything in my power to avoid her" and she acts like I'm the odd one.
Well, the desire to kill that comes from her os definetly weird but at least she is killing in a moral manner, would'nt Go out of my way to bem her friend but seems better than most anti-heroes
You know, as someone from Brazil who had the Luci to evade many robberies I fail to see what Shalom is going on about, Jasnah seems pretty reasonable in my book.
You should do one of these for that one chapter with her, Wit and a certain Brightlord. Although that chapter was already pretty much like a sitcom scene as is.
So I watched these videos before starting Way of Kings. And I've been looking forward to get to this part. Today I finally read this chapter and I came to watch this video again. Also what got me into finally reading WoK was these videos plus the one you say "Read it without reading anything else of Sanderson before and suffer" wise words of the man that carries a thing or a thing that carries a man.
Yeah i may have had to wait till i saw how you did Jasnah to say this but i love these please keep them up, I wasnt expecting the disappointment bit but i should have because its perfect
@@ManCarryingThing does this mean you didn't read warbreaker before words of radiance?! the amount of references you must have missed makes me want to destroy some evil.
No, not really. She intentionally baited those men into attacking her. Here we have a very intelligent and very powerful woman, orchestrating events so that she would be justified in kiling them. She didn't even know what those specific things those men had done. At the same time, it was still the men's choice to attack her, so not like they're innocent or anything. They weren't forced to attack her. But Jasnah's actions before that make things complicated.
@@benapeh854 so what? If I intentionally take my wallet out in a city to check how much cash I have should I get attacked? No I shouldn’t. I know she did it on purpose to get attacked but honestly she did Roshar a favor by dispatching those worthless criminals that would attack a presumed helpless lady.
Jasnah is my 2nd favorite character, behind only Kaladin. She is such a boss, if she had any more time in the series, she would be the de facto main character. 🙌
🤣😂🤣 I am boycotting Netflix if they don’t give you a full on budget. This is how I want the stormlight archive to be adapted, one serious tv series adaptationand one sitcom like adaptation.
Oathbringer spoilers . . . . This video made me wonder if Jasnah wasn't breaking her Radiant oaths by killing these thieves. I know she's an Elsecaller and not a Skybreaker or a Windrunner, so her spren wouldn't be so righteous, yet she manipulated the situation to force herself to kill these guys
We have a very limited knowledge right now of what Elsecaller oaths ARE, so it's impossible to say what would or wouldn't break the oath. Sure, a Windrunner almost certainly would have been in trouble with her spren for that, but a Skybreaker could DEFINITELY have killed those guys. I think most orders of Radiants wouldn't have an oath-specific problem with it, although some spren might not like it. An Edgedancer, like Lift, could have done such a thing, I think, and Windle might have protested it, but it wouldn't break an oath. Jasnah being Jasnah, I seriously doubt she was willing to endanger breaking her oath (not to mention, her spren is absolutely sure Jasnah is the one human who would NEVER break her oaths) to teach Shallan a lesson.
Honestly I’m on Jasnah’s side here. Two reasons. One she is correct logically. And two murder as a form of criminal punishment is normalized in the fantasy genre in general as well as on Roshar.
@@benapeh854 so anyone wearing jewelery in a dark alley is therefore not alliwed to defend themselves? It doeant matter what her intention was because in any other situation you cant read the victims mind

This is the best comment on this video, hands down
The real lesson was the people we murdered along the way.

Idk i think jasnah was in the right there. Yall are assuming she would have just killed anyone and thats not even close to what happened
They should cast you as Jasnah in the live action adaptations.
They've contacted my agent. We'll get something in the works.
