Churches often have statues of Mary and some saints. Catholics do not worship Mary or the saints, but ask them to pray to God on their behalf. This is known as intercession. Statues can also help to focus a person's mind on an aspect of prayer or worship.
To ask the Mother of Jesus to intercede for us is not idolatry. In the Catholic Church - they believe like all Christians do - salvation through Jesus alone! But they also believe in the communion of saints (those righteous ones who are in the presence of God to give God the Father praise right now in heaven).
Focus on worshipping Jesus rather than judging other Christians. May the demons of fear, judgement, ridicule, pride, and hatred be cast from your presence! In the name of Jesus Christ! Our Lord and Savior! ✝️

Thats an interesting comment. In fact, Ex. 20:3 only makes sense with this perspective. We either choose God or ourselves. If we use images out of love for God, it is a good and praiseworthy thing.
If we use images to satisfy our disordered self-love, diminishing our love for God, our forgetting him in the bargain, then we are guilty of idolatry.

Jesus is the only Mediator , NO need to go through a human being to intercede, the Holy Spirit is there for that. Mary was a human being , she died Jesus rose from the dead , no need to ask anyone who died to pray for you .Christ is enough and the only One!!
Indeed, Jesus Our Lord is the Mediator with the Eternal Father. Mary, however, can intercede with Jesus for us, Who will then intercede with the Heavenly Father. Mary always directs us to Jesus, and just as she told the servants at Cana, She continues to tells us: "Do whatever He tells you."

If u look at old testament even then God spoke through the prophets before Holy Spirit. But Saul got into trouble when he called invoked upon Samuel's dead spirit, Samuel 28 , which made God angry.

First of all, praying to the saints, and praying for the dead are two different things. I'll talk about prayer asking the intercession of saints first. There's no such thing as "praying to the dead". That might be some pagan practice. It has nothing to do with Catholic prayer to the saints because the saints are not dead. The problem you pose comes from a faulty philosophical understanding of souls. If souls exist (and as Christians we are obliged to believe that), then they are pure spirits. Death is deprivation of life. This happens because we are material beings and matter is capable of corruption. The principle of life is a spiritual substance which we call the soul. So, when the soul separates from the body, the body is left to the material property of corruption. This is called death. But, a soul, that is pure spirit, CANNOT die. This is simply unintelligible. How can a spirit die? A spirit is not composed of matter and so cannot be corrupted. So, it has no possibility of dying. It would be like talking about the death of an angel. It's simply non-sense.
I think you might be able to reply that God could annihilate the soul. God could indeed do that if He wanted to. But, it would be absurd to believe He does do so. Why? Because we believe in the Resurrection of the dead. If you hold that God annihilates the soul, then there is no Resurrection. He would have to recreate the soul. And if it is recreated, it is another person, and not the same person resurrected. So, basically what you affirm would be tantamount to saying that God destroys us at death and then recreates something exactly like us. Now, all this is so absurd that I have no idea why you would want to believe that. I think the problem is that you read something in the Bible and didn't understand what's written there.
So, what does the Bible mean when it talks about the death of the soul? It doesn't mean the destruction of the soul, but the death of the life of God in the soul by sin. This is a reference to souls who will suffer eternally in hell. (If souls died, what did God create hell for? A barbecue?)
Also, when Scripture speaks about the resurrection of the dead, it's talking about the reuniting of the body (which dies when separated from the soul) and the eternal soul. There is no such thing as a resurrection of a soul.
Now, what happens to the separated soul after death? It is either deprived of the vision of God and is condemned, or it is granted this vision, which is what we call Heaven. The possibility of intermediary states is not in question here, because our prayers to saints are directed to those we hope are in Heaven (the vision of God).
But, can a soul that is in Heaven hear our prayers?
When the soul is united to the body, it forms a composite and can only obtain new knowledge by the images produced by the senses in the imagination. But, a soul that is free from the body cannot use its senses to gain knowledge. So souls cannot hear sounds, nor see images. If I am restricted to my sense of hearing to hear words and then form an idea, then I am restricted by space. I cannot hear what someone is speaking on the moon. But, separate souls are not restricted by space. So, they don't hear our words, nor does distance play any role in this. Think of angels to understand this. An angel can 'speak' to another without coming close to the other. This is something like what we imagine telepathy to be. This is so, simply because the concepts of space (far, near, in heaven, on earth) are spatial-temporal categories that we create in our minds because we are presently restricted to space-time. There's more: the beatified souls (in heaven to use common language) see all things in God, because they see God face to face (again a human expression. "To see", here, means to know God as He is). So, they see all things in God, and all things that God reveals to them. They don't need to put their ears close to our lips to hear what we're saying. (they don't even have ears). Of course, we use human expressions like "hear" "talk" etc. But, these are just human expressions, because we are matter-spirit composites and have to use sensible images to communicate. (Think of words: they are only meaningful because they are sensible signs that communicate ideas.) So, the whole problem you pose is simply a philosophical error.
Now, all this is not to say that it is PERMITTED to pray to them. That is another question and cannot be answered philosophically, but theologically. The answer is that I don't see why we cannot ask souls in the vision of God (in Heaven) to pray for us, if we can ask souls in bodies to pray for us on earth. There is nothing in the Bible that says we cannot do so... Moreover, when the Gospels were written there were no saints in heaven yet (in the vision of God). That only happened with the Death and Resurrection of Christ. So, it's a complete non sequitur to say that asking saints to pray for us is not in the Bible. That would like saying that you are not in the Bible.. Sure, the Bible was written before you were born.
But, why would we even want to pray tot he saints and not directly to God?
What Catholics believe is that we human beings are created as social beings who should help each other. No man can bring another human being into this world without a woman. No one can live without the help of anyone else. In the same way, we also help each other spiritually on the way to salvation by prating for each other. This is what is called intercession: to intercede, or pray, for one another. This is a Biblical practice (Rom 15:30-32, 2 Cor 1:10-11, Eph 6:18-20, Phil 1:19, Col 4:2-4, 2 Th 3:1-2, Phile 1:22, Heb 13:18-19). In the same way, we also ask those who have passed, and we believe to be in the vision of God (Heaven) to pray for us. Their prayers, we believe, are more likely to obtain God's grace and mercy for us, since they are closer to God in their present state. This is something so intuitive that I've never been able to understand the Protestant objections to it. My experience in apologetics with Protestants is that they either have some philosophical misconception (like souls die and resurrect, which is simply non-sense) or some theological misunderstanding (like the idea that praying TO saints means to attribute some power to them that belongs to God). Praying to a saint only means asking the saint to pray or intercede for us. This is not a wrong formulation as we are indeed praying TO the saint, not as the object of our prayer (all prayer is and should be directed to God, if not it would be idolatry), but as the means or intercessor for our prayers to be heard by God. As St. Thomas Aquinas, the greatest Catholic theologian ever, puts it: "the prayers of several sometimes obtain that which would not have been obtained by the prayers of one". The Bible never prohibits us from asking one another to pray for us. Why should we exclude our brethren who are in heaven?

And especially statues are definitely idol. Doesn't matter if you worship or don't worship. It is still an idol and God forbids idols and curse people who make idols.

When Jesus was on earth, he did not have idols in his house, nor did he look at or worship them, knowing that idols are cursed and lead to destruction. Instead, Jesus would close his eyes, think about God, and pray only to Him. Jesus also opposed the use of idols.

But from our experience we as Catholics get attacked for being the church of Christ. Protestants and Orthodox churches broke away from the true faith and started their own version of Christianity. I'm simply saying that to be Christian and be anti Catholic is very funny as Catholic church is the original and formed the Bible and is the only Church on earth to have supernatural miracles from Heaven to back up it's authority and divinity. The New Testament does not exist in a vacuum, not did it come about in a vacuum. Shall we dismiss our first parents, Adam and Eve, their fall, and the need for a Redeemer? Or Moses, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, the Prophets of the Old Testament, or the history of the Hebrews, from whom Jesus came? Your considerations are interesting. The problem you pose does seem insurmountable at first glance, but it is not so. If 5 million persons prayed to Mary at the same time, she would be aware of that because She is in heaven. Heaven is to know God as He is, as St. John tells us in one of his letters. Now, to know God as He is, is impossible for human intellects, unless they participate in God's own self-knowledge. In other words, the souls in heaven see everything (or know everything) in God, so to speak. So Mary is able to hear all our prayers at the same time and pray to Jesus for us. And, of course, praying to her is not idol worship. The very term tells us that idol worship is worship of idols. We do not worship Mary nor are there any idols of Mary (an idol is made to false deity - a statue of a living person is not an idol just like a portrait is not an idol). God bless!

As believers of Jesus Christ we shouldn’t worship an image. Or to worship other Saints rather than God. In the Bible in the book of revelation 22:8-9
8 And i john saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before feet of the angel who he’d shewed me these things.

We shouldn’t have images of God because we don’t know what he looked like or other people in the Bible we should only worship the true living God but praises and give him honor and worshiping him and not worship the servants of God.

Jesus did not rewrite The Old Testament. The Catholic Church comprised The Holy Bible and gave it to the world in 325AD. Over 1500 years later, without Gods authority rewrote it, added/deleted words, verses, chapters, books and changed wording to it and The Ten Commandments.

Hello Daniel. The images of Jesus have become stylized over the years by different groups of people. Hopefully people are not worshiping images of random people as Jesus...we certainly do not. Why pray to Mary? Do you believe that there are Saints in Heaven; that the crown of glory awaits those who love God? That there is an eternal life that exists after this earthly life? The body dies but the soul lives on...

Hello. Did you watch the whole video, listen, and catch the irony, and hear the explanation? The whole point is that Catholics do not worship idols. We honour the Saints, those holy ones who have lived and died in their love of Christ and the Church. Worship is reserved for God only, because He is God. However, should we not honour and love the mother of Jesus? Why did God choose her, send an Angel to her from Heaven to tell her that she would be the mother of the Son of God, and have the Holy Spirit overshadow her to conceive of His Only Begotten Son? Do we think for a moment that God made a mistake in honouring this most holy, faithful, obedient, selfless and perfect young woman? Why do the Gospels speak of this account? When Jesus was on earth, he did not have idols in his house, nor did he look at or worship them, knowing that idols are cursed and lead to destruction. Instead, Jesus would close his eyes, think about God, and pray only to Him. Jesus also opposed the use of idols.

Catholics adore and worship no other than God, for only God is worthy of worship. We honour the Saints; quite a difference.

To answer this, we have to first make some distinctions. No created being is omnipotent or omniscient. But, separated souls to do not have to be omniscient to know our prayers, or omnipotent to help us. To understand what I mean, we have to understand the nature of a spiritual soul that is separated from the body. A soul is entirely spiritual and cannot die. To say something like that is akin to talking about the death of an angel. It is simply unintelligible. A spirit is not composed of matter and so cannot be corrupted. So, it has no possibility of dying. So when Scripture speaks about the resurrection of the dead, it's talking about the body (which dies when separated from the soul) and the eternal soul. There is no such thing as a resurrection of a soul. Now, what happens to the separated soul after death? It is either deprived of the vision of God and is condemned, or it is granted this vision, which is what we call Heaven. The possibility of intermediary states is not in question here, because our prayers to saints are directed to those we hope are in Heaven (the vision of God). Now the question of how they can know what we pray for and how they can help us is based on the previous answer. Saints may not be omniscient, but they know what God reveals to them. They are also in the vision of God and see all things in God. When a prayer is directed to God through them, they would see this in God or God would reveal it to them. A prayer is a conversation. It is not strictly included in the secret thoughts that the Bible says is reserved to God. Even if we direct ourselves in silent prayer, souls or angels can still know what we pray for. In any case, all prayer is directed to God. A prayer to a saint is a prayer to God, through the saint, asking the saint to pray for us. How can the saint help us if he is not omnipotent? He can pray for us to God, so that by his prayers God may be inclined to hear us. When two or more are gathered in His name... It is not very different from asking someone on earth to pray for us. The saint's prayers have greater audience with God because of his life of holiness, his greater friendship with God and his greater union with God's will in his present state of the vision of God.

The only references are in the Book of Revelation, simply because there were no saints in Heaven before Christ died and resurrected. A saint is a soul in the vision of God. On the last day, this soul will be reunited to the body. But, souls can be admitted to the vision of God only because Christ opened the "gates of Heaven" for us by His death and Resurrection. However, in the story of Lazarus, we see the separated soul of the rich man speaking to the separated soul of Abraham (who was dead for centuries). There is nothing in itself that prevents a soul from directing itself to another separated soul unless God prevents it from doing so.
In Revelation 5:8 St. John saw the 24 elders who fell down before the Lamb in worship, “each one having a harp and golden bowls of incenses, which are the prayers of the saints.” Similarly, in Revelation 8:3-4 we are told that something similar happened when the Lamb opened the seventh seal of the book: “Another angel came and stood on the altar, having a golden censer, and many incenses were given to him, in order that he will give it with the prayers of all the saints on the golden altar before the throne. And the smoke of the incenses went up with the prayers of the saints from the hand of the angel before God.”
We could argue these are the saints on earth. But, there's nothing that prevents the Saints in Heaven from praying for us, if even those on earth who are still not in God's vision can pray for us, as I explained earlier.

The necromancy that is forbidden is conjuring up spirits or communicating with so called "spirits". In practice these spirits who communicate with persons who dabble in such black arts are almost always demons under the appearance of spirits. This is nothing like prayer to saints. All prayer to saints is a prayer to God, asking them to pray and intercede for us to God.

Hello sir. We Catholics do not consider Mary or the saints to be gods. This is a common misconception. They are holy souls who are in heaven. Some of the saints are from recent times and we have photos of them. So we know what they look like and that's why we make statues (exactly like portraits). In the case of older saints, whose contemporary paintings we do not have, we use a little imagination. In the case of Mary, the statue is often based on recent apparitions like in Fatima in 1917. The statue that was made to commemorate this was confirmed by one of the children who saw Our Lady to resemble her quite closely. Thanks for your interest in our Catholic faith. God bless!

Hello. A statue or an image is only wrong if we worship it as though it were God. We have family photos and images in our homes, but we do not worship them. An image of one we love is to honour that person. Only God is to be worshipped. The problem, historically, is that people were making statues and images and worshipping them. The First Commandment, "I am the Lord thy God, thou shalt not have false gods before me." explains it perfectly. God even directed Moses to make an image, but not an image to be worshipped or idolized. Catholics do not worship images or statues...a statue is like a photo of the person we honour and love. We honour the Saints, especially Mary, the mother of Jesus. She is not God, we do not worship nor idolize her, but we honour her as His mother. It is so simple. God bless you!

The holy Spirit but I didn't know what it was. I never asked didn't really care. I was only 13 years old. Stopped going to church when I was about to say 13. Picked up the Bible I don't know maybe 14 15 or 16 years of age. The Adam and Eve story wasn't complete. Ever since then I didn't pick up the Bible. In 2016 God called me. Convicted my heart I said I don't want to go to hell. I didn't know what to do. God called me in 2018. So I asked my mother a Catholic. She bought me a Bible. I read the Bible but I didn't understand it. Just didn't feel right. So I went on UA-cam and I looked up all the preachers nothing felt right with them. I heard this young man on UA-cam say the Bible is the mark of the beast and I said he's crazy. Then I went looking further and then I met a couple who said the Bible is the mark of the beast and I just let them alone and didn't say anything bad about them.went to sleep as Jesus tell me what church or religion you want me to belong to you. So I went looking through UA-cam again and I'm at Harlan and Deanna hoy. They said the Bible was the mark of the beast in he was telling me that the ten commandments belong to the Jewish people and I said yeah that's right. Everything he said it made sense. Something went down in me hard. I told my mother the Bible is the mark of the beast cuz she's a raunchy Catholic. She started pulling her hair know it's not the Bible is not the mark of the beast know it's not know it's not that was a demon inside of her. Then I started writing everything down in a book. I learned how to pray in the spirit. In July 20th 2020. In the revelation. Jesus said I choose you I love you and I never met anyone who wanted to learn like you. I had dreams visions Revelations. There's a lot of holy Spirit children out there like me. Two more holy Spirit children popped up. Otis and Adrian. Yes she was voices being hurt in the land and you're not hearing it. It's not written in ink paper or tablets of stone is written in the tablets of the heart. We are the Epistles. I don't follow no preacher Man. They're of Satan the apparent apostles of Satan and they do his will.
God had to sometimea show the HARDHEADED stubborn Israelites of Him and gave them external proof of His majesty. He never commandes them to worshipnthe Ark, any temple or any tangible thing. He knew they lived among the pagans and wanted to keep their focus on Him. A lot of His Mercy and judgement in the bible was allowing them grace in ways he could get their attention.

I was raised Protestant and I'm still Protestant because I love the simplicity and minimalism of it. I understand there are lots of opinions about this sect and that sect but i believe that at the end of the day as long as you have your personal relationship with God and no other then you will see His face in heaven. I'm definitely not used to the catholic way of praying to the saints but whatever their traditions, as long as they know that God is in his own class alone and worship him with all their heart then I have little to fault them. I no longer like back biting each other and simply pray to God that no matter the denomination God is number one.

The problem is with worship...we are not to WORSHIP any image, and we do not. There is a huge difference between honour and worship, for worship is reserved only for God.

Of course, if someone did that, it would be a grave mistake at the least. But, no serious Catholic thinks that. The love and veneration of the images is not for the wood or the stone (how could it be if we believe there's only one God?) but for what they represent. Not everything is as it appears. Only God can search the heart. I would suggest that the next time you see a Catholic do the things you mentioned, you ask him why he does that and what he believes. Don't take things at face-value. Judge not and you will not be judged.

Hello. You have, in your dictionary description, already explained the difference between worship and prayer. We worship only God, for only God is deserving of worship. But we pray to and honour the Saints as well. The picture or statue is only an image of the ones we love, just as we have pictures of our loved ones in our homes. We do not worship them, but we love them. That is the difference, and this is not idolatry.

Because God wants it. He loves to see us asking for help from other creatures, he loves to see admitting our insufficieny. He loves to see us glorifying His Beloved Mother and the Saints that he loves o much.
He wants us to be submissive to the Guardian Angel he placed over us.
So we can please God more by praying to the saints. Although it is not wrong to pray to God directly, it depends on the grace of the moment.
In any case we must have peace of soul and not worry about who we are praying to, or to whom we give more importance. We are all part of God's Family and our relations should be organic.

When Jesus was on earth, he did not have idols in his house, nor did he look at or worship them, knowing that idols are cursed and lead to destruction. Instead, Jesus would close his eyes, think about God, and pray only to Him. Jesus also opposed the use of idols.

The truth of the matter is that statues so easily become idols, and yes MANY do bow down, kiss and pray to these statues! How can you deny that. Statues are simply stumbling blocks and tempt people to form an attachment to them instead of Christ only- this IS the truth of the matter.
Hello. That line of thought is just silliness. We are Catholics! We reject idolatry, for we call no one God but God Himself. An image of the mother of Jesus is certainly no stumbling block, nor is the image of any other Saint. God gave us the Saints, to follow, to emulate, imitate, and to help us reach higher degrees of sanctity. We need good role models, and there is no better role model than the mother of Jesus! Hello. Your objection actually comes from a misconception about the Catholic practice of making images (statues or paintings) representing Jesus, Mary, or the Saints. This is confused with the Bible verses that prohibit making "graven images". The Bible verses in question were addressed to generations of Israelites who were exposed to the danger of contagion by idolatrous pagan religions. Now in ancient pagan religions (and also in contemporary pagan religions in the East) idols were taken to be deities or gods and worshipped as such. This is called idolatry. There were images of false gods who don't exist. This is what is prohibited. In fact, worshipping anything above God can, in a certain sense, be called idolatry. Though not in a strict sense, if one loves himself above God, he is an idolator who worships himself.
If Catholics were to worship statues of saints, or take the saints or Mary as divinities and as the END of their prayer and worship, they would, indeed, be guilty of idolatry. But, no Catholic who knows anything about his religion does this. The statues are nothing but representations or images of Mary or the Saints who really existed and exist. And when they are statues of Jesus, Jesus IS GOD, but His statue is not. His statue is a representation, and when we pray before the statue, our prayer is directed to Jesus, not the statue. This is actually quite trivial and intuitive. The Protestants don't really look for the Catholic explanation and simply mix up concepts without reflection based on hearsay.
Finally, the need for making representations is the need of love. It's not unlike multiplying photos or paintings of loved ones and kissing or venerating them. No one in his right mind who kisses a photo of his mother thinks his mother is made of paper. And no one who puts incense in front of a photo of a deceased family member (as is common in the East) imagines that the deceased family member is God. These are just confusing ideas, like someone who looks at a person making salad and thinks he's a cannibal (because this person imagines cannibalism is eating tomatoes).
There's also another necessity for making statues. It's that we are sensible beings and we cannot imagine pure spirits. The saints in heaven are spirits and have no bodies (they left them here on earth when they died). So we make statues of them as we saw them on earth. This is something related to the nature of human beings. Even the Bible is given to us by God with sensible signs because we can only understand and imagine unseen things by things that our senses can perceive. That's why the Bible compares God to a rock, and He spoke with a human voice, He appeared as fire, as a person, He's compared to a warrior, to an eagle, to a father, a mother, etc. The whole Bible is written in sensible signs. That's our language, not God's language.
The sad effect of praying directly to Jesus without images representing him is the diminishing of devotion. We are sensible beings. And cannot understand any concept except by a sensible sign. When a Protestant prays to Jesus, does he pray by shutting off his imagination? That is impossible. He would at least have to imagine some vaporous spirit or something like that. That is simply because we are rational animals and our animal nature is incapable of concepts without passing through the senses and the imagination. So, that would be - according to the protestant idea - a sort of internal idolatry in the imagination. This would be worse than making a statue. My point is that these objections don't take into account the basic nature of human beings. Statues help us converse with Jesus, whom we could also imagine. But, no Catholic believes the statue is Jesus. These forms of crude idolatry don't exist in the West anymore. They were replaced by modern forms like idolatry of health, wealth, beauty and pleasure.
Anyway. There's nothing clear or intelligible in all these protestant doctrines. I'm yet to find even one Protestant who can make a coherent theology based on sound philosophy to explain their beliefs.

Every born-again believer is indwelt by the Holy Spirit which means that God is within each spiritually born child of God, statues are senseless and offensive and yes they are idols when people "need" them in order to have a sense of God & His presence.
The early church did NOT rely on such things! " God is spirit and they that worship Him must worship Him in spirit and in truth ".

Again this is a non sequitur. There's no sense in making statues of saints before they existed. The Bible also doesn't mention you because you were not born at that time. In the same way, there were no saints in heaven before Christ opened the gates of Heaven with His death and resurrection. You need some basic Christian instruction. Also the bronze serpant is a picture of Jesus. You see people after that event would worship the bronze serpent and it was ultimately destroyed because of idol worship but no in scripture its a picture of jesus. Symbolism. Also the ark of the covenant was a dwelling place for god it was made holy by god and you couldnt touch it with bare hands without dropping dead. It all pointed to christ. So tour modern understanding is or mans understanding is flawed. You need gods understanding and not men.

In Exodus 20:4 God condemned the carving of statues for the sake of worshipping them as idols-a blasphemy the Catholic Church also condemns. Notice that these angelic images were to serve such an exalted purpose (not because the statues themselves were in any way intrinsically exalted but because of the use to which they would be put) that God was very exacting in the instructions he gave Moses as to the materials to be used and the posture in which they were to be carved. Similar divine commands to carve statues and embroider images of various religious objects are found in Exodus 21:6-9, Numbers 21:6-9, 1 Kings 6:23-28, and 1 Kings 7:23- 39. In each case, the statue or embroidered image was intended by God for a religious use.
Although the worship of anything, not just statues, in place of the True God is idolatry, there are times when statues are not just tolerable but recommended. Just as those Old Testament statues were ordered fashioned by God to remind the Israelites of heavenly realities, Catholic statues of Jesus and the Angels and the Saints serve the same purpose.

The Hail Mary is *not* idolatry. Preaching that it is is, at best, ignorant. Worst, it is intentional False Witness, and one risks their soul and all the souls of those who unquestioningly regurgitate such falsehoods by it. As a Roman Catholic Christian, in my heart, my mind and my soul I do not exalt Mary as a god, nor do I make offerings to her statues or expect Mary to perform miracles except by the Power of the Holy Spirit. Her prayer is a beautiful request for intercession by Catholics. I point you to our Catholic Bible RSV2CE, Luke 1, which pretty much contains the Hail Mary wording as spoken to her by the angel Gabriel. "Hail" is the only word in the prayer that might confuse the (willfully?) ignorant. Why do we use "Hail"? Because, Luke was written in Greek and χαῖρε is the formal greeting in Greek. It is the same as saying Ave in Latin (Ave Maria), and the same as an Hello (Hail, formal) in English. Now you are aware of the Truth, beware the sin of continued False Witness!
