It’s really interesting how protestants do not believe in the real presence and they think it’s symbolic even though John 6 is very clear. And when something is truly symbolic, they equate it with idol worship. Truly interesting how the demonic puts scales on people’s eyes.

Protestants have no option but to have to twist Sacred Scripture to justify their man-made theology. Whatever Jesus' Church teaches MUST be wrong and MUST be opposed by Protestants at all costs. The linguistic gymnastics they MUST go through are of Olympic proportion. They had 505 years practice, so they've gotten pretty good at it. Being Protestant is like a person walking into a two hour-long movie after the first hour and a half has already been shown. Then as the credits roll up at the end of the film, they stand up and proceed to tell all of those who were there to see the coming attractions exactly what the entire movie was about. Demanding that they, and they alone know. No matter what those who were there when the lights dimmed actually experienced. .

Thank you, Catholic Marine! Just TODAY, in watching "The Chosen" series 3 at the theatre, my Protestant friend SO offended to learn that the Protestant ending "For thine..." was added to the original Lord's Prayer. In the movie at the sermon on the mount, the movie held true to the scripture and did not add that ending. It is not in the orignal Greek or Latin translation that St. Jerome did in 400 A.D. She's denying it saying "it's contraversial"; wish they could just admit to real fact/History.

I'm a Protestant.. and I know Protestant is not right but I'm doubting catholic because they kiss the statues.. and bow down to them.. isn't that idolatry?? I'm confused!!
Many Protestants particularly the evangelical fundamentalist kind lack the common sense to understand scripture in the right perspective. Use of idols for legitimate religious uses except for 'worship' is simply a matter of common sense. In fact, we cannot worship God without creating images of him in our minds and thoughts. When we think of God, the latter appears in our thoughts in various images. Since we know God is a loving Father, the image of a father is quite natural and human. God cannot be worshipped in an empty head. To be a Catholic is to follow reason and common sense apart from faith.
"To be a Catholic is to follow reason and common sense apart from faith." To be catholic is to grovel befor graven images. Is that your common sense? Well, it is the catholic thing to do, but its far from common sense. I dont use or bow befor the works of my hands. I am guilty of idolatry though. I think most of us are in some way. But i wont belong to a religion that makes graven images and puts kneelers in front of them so their faithful can kneel befor them in comfort. That is wickedness. And you have the gall to say prots are in error.
@@peterzinya1 Common sense requires that we understand what the Bible teaches about images, idols and their uses. Protestants don't have a clear understanding of this subject. Their whole literal understanding is centred on the second commandment which prohibits the making of idols and bowing down before them. In other words, the second commandment prohibits the worship of any man-made or natural objects. Only God should be worshiped. The Bible, on the other hand, does not prohibit making images and idols for religious purposes which do not involve worship.
@@albertdevasahayam6781 "In other words, the second commandment prohibits the worship of any man-made or natural objects. " No, it prohibits bowing down befor them. Thats what it says. If images are your thing, have at it. Your saying that if prots(non catholics) had common sense, they would make statues and bow befor them. Boy, you catholics really love them idols.
@@peterzinya1 Try to understand scripture properly. There is only one God whom we should worship. The second commandment ensures that we do just that. We should worship God alone and nothing else. The Bible allows us to make images and idols for artistic or religious purposes. Catholics do bow down before the statue of Jesus, such as the Crucifix; it is because Jesus is God who is worthy of our worship. Not convinced? Tell me why did God ask Moses to make a bronze serpent and make people look at it?

@@wesleysimelane3423 How so my friend? If you truly believe this then you should change your source of information. Here is what the Catholic Church teaches and it is what ALL Catholics believe and practice: Catechism of the Catholic Church: Idolatry 2112 The first commandment condemns polytheism. It requires man neither to believe in, nor to venerate, other divinities than the one true God. Scripture constantly recalls this rejection of "idols, [of] silver and gold, the work of men's hands. They have mouths, but do not speak; eyes, but do not see." These empty idols make their worshippers empty: "Those who make them are like them; so are all who trust in them."42 God, however, is the "living God"43 who gives life and intervenes in history. 2113 Idolatry not only refers to false pagan worship. It remains a constant temptation to faith. Idolatry consists in divinizing what is not God. Man commits idolatry whenever he honors and reveres a creature in place of God, whether this be gods or demons (for example, satanism), power, pleasure, race, ancestors, the state, money, etc. Jesus says, "You cannot serve God and mammon."44 Many martyrs died for not adoring "the Beast"45 refusing even to simulate such worship. Idolatry rejects the unique Lordship of God; it is therefore incompatible with communion with God.46 2114 Human life finds its unity in the adoration of the one God. The commandment to worship the Lord alone integrates man and saves him from an endless disintegration. Idolatry is a perversion of man's innate religious sense. An idolater is someone who "transfers his indestructible notion of God to anything other than God."47
@@wesleysimelane3423 Well you and I may have similar feelings about Jesuits of late, however, you can be certain that the dogmas taught in the Catholic Church are the same as taught by Christ and the Apostles. Don't you find it odd that you can accuse the Catholic Church of believing and teaching things that are not in the Bible when it is you that declare that the Holy Bible is the sole authority of Christians? Where in the Bible does it say that? Did Jesus give us the Bible to teach us our faith or did He give us the Bishops to teach us? Hint. Hint. Jesus sent out His Disciples and He said, "whoever listens to you listens to me, and whoever rejects you rejects me, and whoever rejects me, rejects the one who sent me". Hint. Hint. Jesus said to His Apostles, " as the Father has sent me, now I send you. Those sins you forgive shall be forgiven, and those sins you retain shall be retained." Hint. Hint. Jesus said to His Apostles, " what you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven, and what you loosed on earth shall be loosed in Heaven." Wesley my friend, it is because you are not Catholic that you cannot understand the Scriptures. For St. Paul said that God's plan is hidden from those outside of His Church, "so that the manifold wisdom of God might now BE MADE KNOWN THROUUGH THE CHURCH." There is nowhere in Scripture that says you you can know His plan by reading the Bible. But the Bible does say that His plan will be made known to you through the Church, which you refuse to enter into. Paul said that the "Church is the pillar and ground of the Truth" which you deny. So if you cannot understand the simplicity of what is written in the Scriptures, then is it any wonder why you can't understand the Rosary, or the Communion of Saints, or the Mass, or the Sacraments? Christ and His Church are One. The Church is His Bride, but you disparage His Bride. You divorce His Bride. You hate His Bride. You want Jesus but you don't want His Bride. Good luck with that.
@@wesleysimelane3423 Oh my Wesley, if you are truly a Christian then you should be reminded of the 8th Commandment " Thou shalt not bear false witness." Dude, the things that you are saying about Christ and His Bride are absolute lies and you will burn in hell for that. I am not just being facetious. The origin of the Catholic Church is Jesus Christ. All of the Encyclopedias attest to that historical fact. There is not other Protestant organization that claims origins in Jesus Christ. Historical facts attest to each Protestant division is found by a sinful man, whereas the Catholic Church was founded by God Himself. The Truth is that there is not one single example of Protestant salvation in the Biblical New Covenant Church, and that is because the Bible was written by Catholics and for Catholics. You can't understand it.
i understand where you are coming from as I am quite conflicted on this topic. The problem I have with the images is how do we know that is what Jesus looked liked. Historically after the death of the original apostles of Jesus, there were no drawings or descriptions of his appearance. We know that after the acceptance of christianity by Constantine, Christianity became heavily influenced by a lot of pagan traditions. There are lots of theories that alot of this drawings and paintings were inspired by deities already being worshipped at that time. so if they were inspired by them doesn't that leave a blemish on those images. I'm just looking for answers , I don't want any arguments or fights.

Sometimes it amazes me how centuries-old lies and distortions about our precious Christian truths remain and are passionately defended despite the crystal clarity of Scripture. I suppose it is the pride of the heretic who stubbornly refuses to admit his mistakes. Joshua, Brother, may God reward your love for the Truth of Christ!

The great commandment of Almighty God is "You shall not make any carved images and bow down to them nor serve them"(Exo.20:4,5). And you shall not make any image of even like Jesus !!! because Jesus Christ is the Lord. "The Lord is the Spirit" (2Cor.3:17). Who can make an image of The Spirit?!!! Now we all are under the law of faith. We must obey the Word of God otherwise we shall loose our eternal life with God. Because adultery is the greatest sin in the Bible. Idol worship is adultery(Eze.6:9). Means we rejuct to pray and worship to God the Spirit but to the idol. Jesus is the bridegroom of one who believes(2Cor. 11:2). Love him only, Do not love other gods. " An idol is nothing in the world, and there is no other God but one"(1Cor.8:4). And, "a mediator does not mediate for one only, but God is one"(Gal.3:20) / "For there is one God and one mediator between God and man, the Man Christ Jesus"(1Timo.2:5). "The Word is Life and Spirit"(Jn.6:63). Read and meditate it, confess it and fill in with life and Spirit. "The word is truth and it is sanctify you"(Jn.17:17) "Worship Him in Spirit and Truth"(Jn.4:24) "His name is called The Word of God"(Rev.19:13), that is Jesus. Little children, keep yourself from idols. Amen(1Jn.5:21)
Wow excellent explanation on veneration of holy images! Loved this! Our Lord Himself left us a holy image of His Holy Face on Veronica's veil and His Sacred Face and Body on the Shroud of Turin, His burial cloth, both of which are still completely intact and venerated in Rome. 🙏
You know what, it's funny you say that....I was actually just thinking last week or so about doing a video on him. I will ABSOLUTELY do one on the Grunt Padre! Such an inspiring story! Thanks for the suggestion! 🙏

When Catholic keep statues of saints, it is idolatry. When protestants keep photos of their loved ones, it is not idolatry. When Catholics pray to saints, it is sin. But when protestants talk to their loved ones in the cemetery, it is fine.
Did you not watch the video we don't worship statues ok we worship the real god is the holy trinity there are 3 persons the father the son (Jesus) and the holy spirit
The Bible said in Deuteronomy 6:4 that the Lord our God is (ONE) not 3. If you don't know the difference between 1 and 3, I suggest you take a math class.@@F412YT
How nice of you to compare the two. Unlike the depictions of God, Jesus and the saints, pictures are an accurate representation of these loved ones. The statues and pictures in chapels and churches are not. If they are inaccurate representations, they are false. False images, and more in line with Idols.
Statues serve as a symbols. It help other religion to recognize Catholic. It represent Faith of one person. It was written in the Bible that God asked someone to make statues of 2small angel to be place in the "ALTAR" SO IS IT WRONG REGARDING STATUE BEING PLACE INSIDE THE CHURCH AND ACCUSING CATHOLIC for disobeying God ?? Where are their brain..they are only good in accusing Catholic for it is the "TRUE RELIGION " MY RELIGION 💜💜💜
Why do all the Catholic websites listing the Ten Commandments never list the second commandment in Exodus 20:3? They skip over Exodus 20:3 regarding graven images and then split the last commandment in two to make up for skipping verse 3, so there can be Ten Commandments. Exodus 20:3 forbids graven images (statues) Skipping over Exodus 20:3 provides the green light for statues. Not trying to argue, just pointing out what the Roman Catholic Church did, friend. It’s in there. Have you ever wondered *why* you feel compelled to have to explain and defend the things the Catholic Church does? Such as the rosary, graven images, etc. Friend, there’s a reason you’re having to Convince your viewers why Catholicism isn’t so bad… Have you ever read the 95-theses that Martin Luther nailed to the Catholic Church door? You can Google them. I’m Southern Baptist and I’ve never had to explain why as you do being Catholic. Just asking these questions of you in love.
The church has always, even as with the Jews, incorporated the graven images commandment with the first commandment. This is because this is the way it has been interpreted in scripture and tradition. Actually I have many questions about the practices of Protestantism, because many of them are anti biblical. The church has been the same since the apostolic times, yet Protestantism is a radical new thing within the past couple hundred years

In the book of Revelation, John NEVER mentions that Peter is the head of any of the churches. In fact his name is never even mentioned. If he was the first pope, why is this not mentioned in the book of Revelation? These churches were all independently run with their own heirarchies.
Because Christ already gave that title to Peter already? And besides, Ignatius of Antioch, who was a disciple of John said in 110 A.D. "Wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church", the same church who would compile the Bible under the leadership of the 37th Pope in 380 A.D. in Rome.

Why do protestants like to chop off certain verses and take the context out of characters and verses of the bible? A reading from the book of Deuteronomy will tell you clearly that it refers to everything God commanded in Exodus. Please watch to gain understanding and avoid winning silly and easily debunked arguments. For something to be considered idolatry, three things must happen: 1. You must have a god that is not the Almighty God in the bible. An example is to take the sun (Ra in the case of ancient Egypt) as a god instead of God in the bible. 2. The second will be to carve an image of that God, like the Egyptians did with their sun god Ra. 3. The third will be to serve that goody offering sacrifices, such as burnt offerings, human offerings, food, and drinks. Through the entire testaments (old and new), God sees how graven images were used appropriately or as idolatry. Every well-catechised Catholic knows that we have one supreme God and that God exists in the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, three distinct persons who share the same exact nature, essence, and will. Not three separate Gods, one God. Sources: www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Deuteronomy%204%3A15-20%3B%20Exodus%2020%3A3-6&version=RSVCE
Protestant specially the branch of Calvinism and Baptist don't know church history, in west was mostly statues used in the east icons. This doesn't contradict any commandments like they often claim, otherwise wouldn't Salomon had icons in the Temple of God, even Saint Luke painted Icons.
Judaism preceded Christianity. The New Testament implies the existence of an Old Testament which Jews call the Torah. The Temple where Jesus worshipped had no one adoring any images, as opposed to the Orthodox churches worldwide. Both the Catholic and the Orthodox Church should correct their mistake instead of dwelling in it. There is no forgiveness of sin without confession - in either testament.
@@orthodoxpilgrimofficial I did not say it was a mistake, it can't be a mistake, the catholic rule is what catholics agree upon. Wanna call Joe the plumber a saint and build a church after him? @@heltoncarvalho9786 Muslims don't even know all 10 commandments, read the Qur'an and come later again, Jews trying to keep them but without Jesus Christ they will fail by the mosaic law. The Bible verses are for us not to worship the graven images of OTHER gods. So if the graven images are of God Jesus Christ and the Father God and by His glory, images of all His anointed people, Mother Mary, all the angels and saints, it is only right. All these graven images are in the glory of our God, Jesus Christ and our Father God. They are not for OTHER Gods!! Why I have never hear videos explain it like this? If I bow and pray before a statue of Jesus Christ, it is praying to God and not other Gods. So it is not against His commandments. I have full conviction and faith that I am praying to Jesus Christ when I pray before the graven image of our Lord hung on the cross every Sunday I attend church. Its an image of our Lord. It is not an image of OTHER Gods. I dont need to narrate myself out of this firm belief. God bless. Amen
Mass literacy is a new phenomenon. We’ve had the New Testament since around AD400 but only the elite could read. Statues, icons, stained glass, and other religious art forms were the way the faith was spread.

It is wrong and it is idolatry to have statues and images. Having statues and images is lack of awareness of God's omnipresence. (Exodus 20:4-6 is also God's word) MATTHEW 6:6 But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and PRAY TO YOUR FATHER, WHO IS UNSEEN. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.
Nope. God himself commanded that statues and images were made for decorating the Temple, and this was after God gave the Ten Commandments. Would God go against His own Commandments? What kind of example would that be?
You can say this...and if this is true...then why did they try to remove it from the 10 comandments. They tried to hide it because they knew its wrong. Even your pope bows and kisses the statues and you pray to Mary and other supposed saints...saints that was made so by corrupted past popes. Wrong stays wrong

Good explanation but …all of the evidence you have is from Old Testament, in New Testament we don’t see any of the books people were instructed to use pictures, paintings and other forms of idolatry. And the problem with catholic & other orthodox followers is they actually worship idols….

Are we spared??? 2.Veneration of the so called saints and their place as mediators significantly removes Jesus form the intercessory role ( Romans 10:8, 1 John 2:1-2, Hebrews 8:1-2, 1Timothy 2:5. So any removal of Holy things or Person that God ordained replaced with anything = Sacrilege= idolatory (Romans 2:22) In addition, the place that the statues occupy and serve is that of the Holy Spirit responsible for bringing the heavenly atmosphere at a place where true worship occurs ( John 4 : 23-24). Again this is Sacrilege. ie Statues So anything that replaces a Holy thing or individual is an idol. King Josiah ( 1 Kings 23:1-7) destroyed all statues in the Temple and God was pleased with Him. Idolatory is a sin that renders one to be eternally lost ( Revelation 21: 8, Rev 22:15, 1 Corinthians 6:9)
I've seen MANY Catholics holding and kissing statues. Also, many of their houses are filled with statues that definitely look like idols. I have also seen shines to Mary that they bow down and pray too. It's a problem in the Catholic church.
Ive seen many people kissing their loved ones and have pictures of their loved ones, deceased ones, all over their houses as well. Heb 12:1 reminds us “Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses…”

Dear God, wow I can't believe it. I mean the good book literally says not to make ANYYYYYYY images of heaven above or the earth below or the sea. 2nd We don't know how Jesus looks like. Even if we did, the book says NOT to make images of him, God, angels, prophets and saints. 3rd bowing down to a statue and/or praying to it is LITERALLY the definition of idolatry 😅
YOU: Dear God, wow I can't believe it. I mean the good book literally says not to make ANYYYYYYY images of heaven above or the earth below or the sea. ME: So most kids toys are prohibited, right?
@@azmhyr No they are NOT just kid toys based on YOUR understanding of "do not make ANYYYYYY images of heaven above or the earth below". You can't have it only your way, in order to justify "kids toys." This is why the verse is speaking of making these things to WORSHIP them as gods. Nobody who is Catholic worships statues of Mary as a god of some sort.
@jzak5723 Indeed, what you say is correct, but you use these images and statues as part of your religious ritual. You may ask the Hindus, whether they worship their statues, and you will receive a similar answer. It's not that the statue and the material it's made of is sacred, but what it supposedly represents. But in your case, it represents human figures that none of you have ever seen, and they are being prepped up as being worthy of "veneration" which is, apparently, not the same as worship. If you venerate an image or statue, that is not an accurate representation of what it represents, it's false. With toys, you have no such problem, they're for amusement. But these icons and statues aren't there for amusement, are they? It's not that you couldn't employ something aniconic such as the early Christians did with the Jesus fish, or simple geometric shapes that could represent something without being false, but when you do, it is extremely close to idolatry. You essentially make God in your image, and you venerate those images. You make the Virgin Mary wear a crown of gold, whereas the Virgin Mary never wore anything of the sort, and most likely such baubles would not be required in the divine realms, but it simply falls in line with your imagination..you design your God's after that. That is idolatry, even if you don't worship the images themselves.
@@azmhyr YOU: But in your case, it represents human figures that none of you have ever seen, and they are being prepped up as being worthy of "veneration" which is, apparently, not the same as worship. ME: That's correct, veneration is not the same as worship, so what's the issue then with using statues to represent actual people who lived at one time? As I said, the Biblical command to not make images is specifically talking about making them to worship, if you look at the context of those verses, not that making images itself is wrong, otherwise, much of our art in this world is wrong to make. It makes no difference whether these images are placed in church either, since we are really using them as decorative images of the saints, rather than using them as objects of worship. YOU: With toys, you have no such problem, they're for amusement. ME: True, but if you interpret the Biblical command to NOT make images at all, which is how you seem to be interpreting it, then some toys should not be made since they represent things on earth. That's why there is a clear difference between making images of things to worship and not worship. Catholic images fall into the latter category, despite what you might otherwise think. YOU: But these icons and statues aren't there for amusement, are they? ME: It has nothing to do with their purpose, whether amusement in your case, as you say, or decorative art for a church in our case. It's about NOT WORSHIPING THEM in either case. YOU: You make the Virgin Mary wear a crown of gold, whereas the Virgin Mary never wore anything of the sort, and most likely such baubles would not be required in the divine realms, but it simply falls in line with your imagination. ME: Well, you're quite incorrect about that actually, please read; “Surrounding the throne were twenty-four other thrones, and seated on them were twenty-four elders. They were dressed in white and had crowns of gold on their heads” (Revelation 4:4). We're not making anything up with our imagination, as you stated, it all comes from the Bible.
He is good at justifying his idol worship, but let me guarantee you of one thing, won't accept that.. I would like to refer you Isaiah 42:8 and see what the word of God says there sir....

Yes, they worship statues, especially in certain cultures. Leviticus 26:1 (NASB20) ‘You shall not make for yourselves idols, nor shall you set up for yourselves a carved image or a memorial stone, nor shall you place a figured stone in your land to bow down to it; for I am the LORD your God.
God explicitly commanded the ark, the bronze serpent etc. but remember centuries later that same image that God told Moses to make was destroyed. Also how often did the average Israelite come across the images in the temple. Never. But basics is unless God comands a statue to be built it should not be built
some people do that with the understanding that they are praying to Jesus not to the actual statue itself … but I do understand why that could be confusing
the difference is God commanded them to build those statues but he never commanded you guys to build your own so yes I still believe it should be considered idolitary
@@michaelfrancis5412 God commanded Moses to build the Ark with engraved images of cherubim. Yes, in Exodus 25:18-20 God does say to make the ark of the covenant and to put the cherubim on top of it. And in 1Kings 6:23-28 God tells Solomon to build a cherubim in the temple also. But these images were in places where the average person would not see them. In the most holy of holies and in the inner rooms of the temple. It is wrong to have idols and statues of saints everywhere and to pray for them to intercede for people. God states very clearly that dead people cannot hear your prayers. They are sinners just like us, needing a Savior that is all. He says not to use mediums or sorcery. Roman Catholics bend the knee, bow and place kisses on statues all the time. Even Pope John Paul prayed and idolized statues of Mary all the time. Even your catechism says to ask Mary to pray for you. In fact praying to the dead is looked upon very negatively. Lev 19: 31, 20:27 Deut 18:10 1Sam 28: 7-19 The only Priest we need is Jesus that is it. Please we are saved by grace through the Faith in Jesus alone. Search your hearts and pray for discernment the Roman Catholic Church is not Jesus' representative on earth. All men are sinners the Pope is not infallible, only God is. The pope is a sinner just like everyone else. But as Christians we are saved, that is the difference between us. It is not earned, it is given as a free gift from God. Blessings to you

God alone is the only one we pray too. Only God and I mean ONLY God can hear and answer our prayers. The Rosery is one of Catholicism's apostate practices. Prayer is a form of worship and when you pray to Mary, (At best 53 hail Mary's b just a few to the trinity and a few to God) you are committing idolatry period! God Bless you keep searching for the truth. One more thing All symbols not idols like the brass serpent, bread, wine were always in reference to God not to saints or to Mary. Serpent of brass John 3: 13-15 13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. Even Jesus himself expreses himself in an image for example the bread to mean his body , proving that he was the vine , light ,and way to the father
1. Moses erected a Temple/sanctuary according to the pattern shown to him by God. The representation/ shadow of Heavenly Temple in which Jesus ministers ( Exodus 25:8)( Hebrews 9:1-2)
Indeed there were statues in the temple of cherubims in the Most holy place and people could not see them, only the high priest once a year. The Cherubims represented the real/ live ones in heaven . The whole purpose of that temple was for sacrifices to cleanse peoples sins. When Christ came, the veil was torn and declared it is finished, no more sacrifices. This alludes to the fact that those statues no longer apply after Christ death. Jesus has fulfilled all what was represented by them. This means that a reference to the old Temple statues as a basis for statues in the Christianity world after the cross is on wrong footing. John 2:19-21
Same way when Moses made a bronze snake (Numbers 21:9), This pointed to Jesus (John 3:14) so when He died on the cross, our eyes are on a Living Jesus not a statute of Jesus. Israel had back to back rebellions against God concerning worshipping idols, Hosea 4:17.
Idolatry is a sin that God had been whipping Israel for. Are we spared???
2.Veneration of the so called saints and their place as mediators significantly removes Jesus form the intercessory role ( Romans 10:8, 1 John 2:1-2, Hebrews 8:1-2, 1Timothy 2:5. So any removal of Holy things or Person that God ordained replaced with anything = Sacrilege= idolatory (Romans 2:22)
In addition, the place that the statues occupy and serve is that of the Holy Spirit responsible for bringing the heavenly atmosphere at a place where true worship occurs ( John 4 : 23-24). Again this is Sacrilege. ie Statues
So anything that replaces a Holy thing or individual is an idol. King Josiah ( 1 Kings 23:1-7) destroyed all statues in the Temple and God was pleased with Him.
Idolatory is a sin that renders one to be eternally lost ( Revelation 21: 8, Rev 22:15, 1 Corinthians 6:9)

Again this is Sacrilege. ie Statues

No matter what those who were there when the lights dimmed actually experienced. .
Lev 26:1
Ye shall make you no idols nor graven image, neither rear you up a standing image, neither shall ye set up any image of stone in your land, to bow down unto it: for I am the LORD your God.

@Emmoglu 00 Thank you so much. God bless you.
"To be a Catholic is to follow reason and common sense apart from faith."
To be catholic is to grovel befor graven images.
No, it prohibits bowing down befor them.

Great explanation about Statues that we as Catholics do not worship.
What for do you need them then?
@@rlrett1 It's desire - not need. Answer this for us if you would Richard: why would anyone desire photo's of their spouse, or parents or grandparents, or children? Why plaster our walls with posters of athletes, or rock stars, or movie stars? Why place statues of war heroes or other historical figures in prominent places? Do we need them, well in one sense we do not need them at all, but in another sense they are necessary as reminders of what they accomplished in their lives, and how their actions affect our lives. Just wondering how you feel about having things like this around your home or in your town? If you feel that a image of a Saint is wrong but an image of your own mother is a good thing, then please explain that for us.
@@wesleysimelane3423 How so my friend? If you truly believe this then you should change your source of information. Here is what the Catholic Church teaches and it is what ALL Catholics believe and practice:
Catechism of the Catholic Church:
Idolatry
2112 The first commandment condemns polytheism.
Idolatry rejects the unique Lordship of God; it is therefore incompatible with communion with God.46
2114 Human life finds its unity in the adoration of the one God.
Hint. Jesus said to His Apostles, " what you bind on earth shall be bound in Heaven, and what you loosed on earth shall be loosed in Heaven."
Wesley my friend, it is because you are not Catholic that you cannot understand the Scriptures. For St. Paul said that God's plan is hidden from those outside of His Church, "so that the manifold wisdom of God might now BE MADE KNOWN THROUUGH THE CHURCH."
There is nowhere in Scripture that says you you can know His plan by reading the Bible.
Your explanation is very good. Thanks.

i understand where you are coming from as I am quite conflicted on this topic.

Thank you so much !!! 🙏 And yes the Shroud of Turin is so amazing!

Any new testament scriptures which support idols? Or did the disciples of Jesus practiced idols in their life after the Lord resurrected?
Yes,the evangelist luke had painted the pictures of mother mary...and st.thomas carved a cross in the rock....it's still there...
When Catholic keep statues of saints, it is idolatry. When protestants keep photos of their loved ones, it is not idolatry.
When Catholics pray to saints, it is sin. But when protestants talk to their loved ones in the cemetery, it is fine.
You are comparing Almighty Creator with people!
Even they worship their pastor....
Why do all the Catholic websites listing the Ten Commandments never list the second commandment in Exodus 20:3?
They skip over Exodus 20:3 regarding graven images and then split the last commandment in two to make up for skipping verse 3, so there can be Ten Commandments.
Exodus 20:3 forbids graven images (statues)
Skipping over Exodus 20:3 provides the green light for statues.
Not trying to argue, just pointing out what the Roman Catholic Church did, friend. It’s in there.
Have you ever wondered *why* you feel compelled to have to explain and defend the things the Catholic Church does? Such as the rosary, graven images, etc. Friend, there’s a reason you’re having to Convince your viewers why Catholicism isn’t so bad…
Have you ever read the 95-theses that Martin Luther nailed to the Catholic Church door? You can Google them. I’m Southern Baptist and I’ve never had to explain why as you do being Catholic. Just asking these questions of you in love.
The church has always, even as with the Jews, incorporated the graven images commandment with the first commandment. This is because this is the way it has been interpreted in scripture and tradition.
Actually I have many questions about the practices of Protestantism, because many of them are anti biblical. The church has been the same since the apostolic times, yet Protestantism is a radical new thing within the past couple hundred years
Great job!

"Wherever Jesus Christ is, there is the Catholic Church", the same church who would compile the Bible under the leadership of the 37th Pope in 380 A.D. in Rome.

The Catholic church is the church that Jesus founded on Peter.

Why do protestants like to chop off certain verses and take the context out of characters and verses of the bible? A reading from the book of Deuteronomy will tell you clearly that it refers to everything God commanded in Exodus.
Please watch to gain understanding and avoid winning silly and easily debunked arguments.
For something to be considered idolatry, three things must happen:

(Exodus 20:4-6 is also God's word)
MATTHEW 6:6
But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and PRAY TO YOUR FATHER, WHO IS UNSEEN.
Wrong stays wrong
they didnt
How about when you bow to statue of the Lord and Mother Mary as a sign of respect.
Bowing can be a sign of respect like how Asians bow to their elders. Kneeling people kneel before the queen of England but they don’t worship het.
You can explain this over and over to a Protestant and they're still say Catholics are idolaters.
I’m an Anglican & I wouldn’t say that. But I do think maybe there is slightly too much emphasis on Mary.

YOU: Dear God, wow I can't believe it. I mean the good book literally says not to make ANYYYYYYY images of heaven above or the earth below or the sea.
ME: So most kids toys are prohibited, right?
@@jzak5723
Kids toys are toys. So can your children play with the statues of Mary and the saints or whatever? They can't? Why not?
@@azmhyr
No they are NOT just kid toys based on YOUR understanding of "do not make ANYYYYYY images of heaven above or the earth below". You can't have it only your way, in order to justify "kids toys." This is why the verse is speaking of making these things to WORSHIP them as gods. Nobody who is Catholic worships statues of Mary as a god of some sort.
@jzak5723
Indeed, what you say is correct, but you use these images and statues as part of your religious ritual.

YOU: But in your case, it represents human figures that none of you have ever seen, and they are being prepped up as being worthy of "veneration" which is, apparently, not the same as worship.
By saying the statues we have are idolatrous the Protestants and Muslims are accusing us of literally worshipping multiple gods which is absolutely ridiculous.

Statue worship is something entirely different.
What the fuck did you say
Another word “high regard “
God explicitly commanded the ark, the bronze serpent etc. but remember centuries later that same image that God told Moses to make was destroyed. Also how often did the average Israelite come across the images in the temple. Never. But basics is unless God comands a statue to be built it should not be built
THE BIGGEST PROBLEM BECAUSE OF THIS STATUES, IMAGES, MARY AND THE SAINTS CONFUSES SOME CATHOLICS SO THEY PRAY, WORSHIP THEM
Wjat about praying on your knees in fronth those statues.
some people do that with the understanding that they are praying to Jesus not to the actual statue itself … but I do understand why that could be confusing
the difference is God commanded them to build those statues but he never commanded you guys to build your own so yes I still believe it should be considered idolitary
If you believe that then you are accusing God of violating his own commandment.
@@gunshotlagoon922 God never said build stutues of him or anything and worship it, what violation are you talking about
@@michaelfrancis5412 God commanded Moses to build the Ark with engraved images of cherubim. The Ark was then taken from the city of David to Solomon's Temple where all the Israelites bowed before it and sacrificed countless animals in front of it. @@gunshotlagoon922 youre contradicting yourself you literally said God commanded them to do that! did God command you to build an image of a cross or marry to worship??
@@michaelfrancis5412 Did God command anyone to write a Bible or build church buildings as part of a life of worship? I guess we should get rid of those too. Saying Catholics don’t worship Mary or other idols because its a different type of prayer, is like man saying he isn’t an adulterer because he never actually slept with his neighbor’s wife

The only Priest we need is Jesus that is it. Please we are saved by grace through the Faith in Jesus alone. "Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them!" Exodus 20 says "thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath." Two points: 1. No images. 2. Don't bow down to them.

Thank you.
@po18guy You report him for quoting the bible? very catholic of you.
God said make no graven images. Because we people like to worship everything but God.
Bother you lost me at the rosery. My heart goes out you.
The truth is, no God fearing man in the Old Testament or New Testament has ever prayed to anyone other than God.
KJV Matthew 6:7 - But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking
42 Maccabees 12:39-46 (
Ironic few verses that Catholicism use to explain purgatory but a good example of idolatry) (40) and they found under the coats of the slain some of the donaries of the idols of Jamnia, which the law forbiddeth to the Jews: so that all plainly saw, that for this cause they were slain.
The Most import weapon you can take in to battle
is the whole armor of God Not the Rosary with repetitive prayers to a woman. Matthew 12: 46-50.
50. For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.
KJV Ephesians 6:11-24 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Nowhere in the bible said go into battle on earth on in spirt using the Rosary.
God Bless you keep searching for the truth.
One more thing
All symbols not idols like the brass serpent, bread, wine were always in reference to God not to saints or to Mary.
Serpent of brass
John 3: 13-15
13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:
15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.
Bread/Wine
Luke 22:17-20
John 6:48-51
Nowhere is Mary mentioned for remembrance and surely nowhere are we required to pray though her.
I see they sell these idols in the dollar store as well. Do those speak and weep?
