- Looking to find a remote job in digital marketing with no experience?
In this video, I share my top 3 tips that guarantees you a job to start your career in digital marketing.
I also share a snippet of my story of how I transitioned from an elementary school teacher to a Digital Marketer working with Microsoft- including how I got my first full-time, permanent Digital Marketing Generalist role at a small start up agency in Los Angeles.
One of the most common ways is to find an entry-level Digital Marketing Coordinator job. This will help you understand digital marketing strategy, keyword research, competitor analysis, and how to convert users through targeted ads.

🌸 ABOUT ME 🌸
Before I knew anything about digital marketing, I worked full time as an elementary school teacher. I was extremely burnt out and unhappy until I stumbled across this career. Currently, I am working as a digital marketing manager while also teaching students in my beginner digital marketing course. This field has changed my life and I made this channel to help guide those who are seeking a career and hope to be successful in doing so.

🌟 Check out my Digital Marketing Course (link in description above) ! 🌟
bruh. she went from being an elementary school teacher to working for microsoft.... brand new.. no experience. WOW! Mad congrats.
Lol! 😆 Thank you, thank you ❣️
Love. your channel. FYI, remember some people watch UA-cam on their tv screens therefore is best to include the links on the screen instead of sending people down below to the description box. I never usually go to their channels to look for the links because I have to go to my desktop usually but this time I had to bc your content is so helpful. Thank you!
Thank you! Please make more videos don’t stop ❤️
Inspiring!! I’m now in the position of transitioning towards being a digital marketer, leaning towards SEO and I have no relevant background be it education or work experience but somehow your video just gave me a glimpse of hope 😭 Thank you so much and keep up the good work! All the best! 👏🏻💪🏻
Same, I am taking a marketing course right now and will be granted a certificate at the end. But the action plans in this video will be way more useful than the certificate for sure. Good luck to you and myself for the job hunting 🤝
You can do it! Best of luck (:
Hello there, any updates on your situation?
I am now just starting with a digital marketing course but I am concerned about if I would be able to land a job with no experience.
were you able to land a job?
Awesome advice thanks
Your channel has been such a great help for me! Thanks for the content you put out🙏
Hi Annsuya! So glad it’s helpful ❣️
Great you have just confirmed the thoughts that run through my mind many thanks!
U made me realise how far I came and how much knowledge I have learnt while building me eshop.
So insightful thanks so much! This is great information on how to take your first step into the industry 😊. I will apply the great information offered.
Glad it was helpful! (:
Thanks for sharing! 👍
I’m wanting to do a career change into digital marketing field. I appreciate your content. I’m currently going through the Hub Spot Academy courses but will definitely check out your instruction videos too!
Hi Stephanie! Glad it’s helpful and wishing you the very best on your journey❣️
have you gotten a job in digital marketing yet?
Thank you, Christine for sharing these practical tactics. I shared the same feeling as you when you left your teaching job, I was a luxury fashion retail manager and decided to quick because I was feeling bored and burned out, and wanted to switch to digital marketing. I am in the midst of taking a digital marketing diploma course right now when I realised that without any marketing certificate and no experience, there is barely any chance for me to get into the marketing field. But job hunting has proved that experience is being asked for almost everywhere. However, the certificate has rarely been mentioned. Your video has definitely pointed in a good direction for me, otherwise, I would just simply dedicate all my effort only to the course and it would probably take me to nowhere.
Glad it's helpful and hopefully you are able to transition out of retail (:
ahah I'm in a quarter life crisis right now, and was also about to go down the elementary teacher and it/developer industry 😆😅, and now digital marketing! too canny ahaha.
I'm currently an esthetician / MUA/ sales consultant. I think becoming a digital marketer will give me the confidence I need to become successful in my careers.
I'm looking to transition to mostly remote/hybrid work setting due to having health issues.
would love to connect, I'm trying to find a mentor to guide me as I tend to start things but not finish 😅
Hi Christine! Thanks for sharing your experience with us. You are probably one of the closest youtube who I can relate the most. I have a question about your work portfolio. When you build your work portfolio for Google Ads, were you employed by a small business or did you randomly chose a business to create your work portfolio? Does the future employer care if the work inside the portfolio was never used by the business owner?
Hi Suki! :) I randomly chose a business for the portfolio and the future employer did not care
Thank you so much! I appreciate your content! Love this! ;-)
Thanks for watching 😊
So helpful! I've been doing different types of marketing over the years but this helped me figure out what I want to do within marketing and exactly what I should be doing to upskill!
Great to hear 🥳
Informative ! Thank you ! 🎉
Glad it was helpful 😊
Circling back to this comment I made, I have yet to find an official marketing job :(
In these 3 months I was able to get my Google ads certification. Learn Google analytics, and learn a whole lot about SEO. I have also consulted a handful of friends on how to create a marketing strategy for their online shop. I’ve also volunteered to run the social media platforms for my current employer.
Most recently I was able to get an official client on my own from the construction industry and I redesigned his business website, I am expecting to finish today, and hopefully start Google ads campaigns on Monday.
I have applied to a few tech firms for roles such as customer growth specialist/ Sales, digital marketing specialist, but have not had any luck.
at this point I think I will just continue to grow my portfolio and find more freelancing work until I land a job in a tech firm.
It’s pretty cool how much more I understand this video after studying this stuff, it’s really helpful !
PS. I think you bring up a GREAT point in choosing a specific industry that you are familiar with to start a portfolio on digital marketing, it makes it so much easier to do market research and know all the lingo for ads and keywords
excellent. glad to find you
Happy this is helpful for you :)
Great video! I have a BS in marketing and am ready to launch my digital marketing career!
So glad it’s helpful - wishing you the best of luck in your marketing journey! :)
EXCELLENT tips!! I want to get a digital marketing job asap and this was most helpful!!
Btw you look BEAUTIFUL on video! You should show your face more often :-)
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much. I am currently taking classes in digital marketing and will volunteer for experience.
How do you volunteer for experience?
@giovanacosta5155 Hi there, you can apply to internships or volunteer positions on LinkedIn or Indeed. One company to volunteer for in digital marketing is called Catchafire
Ugh you are way too cute. I love your glasses!
Very inspiring 😍
So very glad you’re finding it helpful 🙌🏻😄
Thank you, Christine!! So cheerful by your No Experience journey. Now I'm looking for a full time job(major marketing), however I don't have many working experience related to marketing in the US (I do have some in NPO area as a small business intern and have some related working experience in China, but it's been around 6 years ago. Since I still have 2 months to find a job before graduation, I wonder do you have any suggestion for me? I'm wokring on my resume rn, and applied a lot of jobs in Indeed but most of them rejected.
Hi! I would try out Acadium. It’s free and it’s a 3 month internship to include as US work experience. Link is in under the description :)
Thank u!!!
You're welcome!
Hi! Do you recommend doing a course before Acadium? Or can you start off with Acadium? I was thinking about doing Seth’s course but there were so many options and I just wanted to find a good way to start. Thank you!
Hi! I would recommend doing a course before doing the intership
Hi Christine. Can you make a video with your resume and which platform you used to find a job?
Hi! I actually found my first marketing job on Craigslist and my other ones on LinkedIn.
Here is the link to the resume I used to land my first job: ua-cam.com/video/3agQ_IAk-ts/v-deo.html
Hi Christine! I am currently a digital marketing student and your videos have been super informative and helpful to me! I wanted to ask, whenever you started your website, did you run actual ads? Did you spend money? Also, did you just make up businesses? Thank you!
Hi Ashley! Happy to hear videos have been helpful 😊 When I started my website, I just made a Wordpress about meditation tips and ran actual Google ads to it. I only spent around $5-$10 just to get experience. No need to spend more.
Hey Christine will you make a video about your Wordpress website? The reason I ask because I want to know how to explain running ads for a blog where I will not sell anything. Similar to your experience I will make a blog to recommend local stores in my area.
Feel free to check out my course in the description on this 😊
May I suggest for your course, if you could charge one amount at first and then the second amount when the person gets a job, then you can add another $100 for the waiting. That would be. more feasible for people who are out of work at the moment and training themselves. But you are AwesomE nonetheless!
Great suggestion!
Thanks for this video l am just starting my digital marketing job soon
Thank you for watching and wishing you the best of in your new role! 😄
Best wishes to you.
it’s my dream to join Digital marketing role. I’m preparing & applying. Hope some good luck rubs off my efforts
I saw the portfolio video I have a question can we build a portfolio for ads based on some random sites ( with a selected niche ), or to the company site which we are trying to get in based on some of our predictions and ideas from them? What is it opinion on this. Do u build portfolio for some other niche or like the second one? Love to knew your perspective.
Hi M. Rajesh, great question! You can build a portfolio based on any type of company of your choosing. Since I was applying to a marketing agency with many niches, I just decided to choose a dentist type website. What niche are you trying to get into?
@@growwithchristine I didn't selected any particular industry to work on but in marketing I chose paid ads as my niche. So I'm looking to work on something which has sales process more like a b2b or b2c.
It's funny, I just landed a digital marketing job with no experience. I'm happy, but I'm screwed because I don't know what I'm doing haha
Congrats! In my experience, everyone goes into a company with minimal knowledge but there was always training
Woohoo. How was / is your experience working in digital marketing so far 7 months in? Would love to hear it..
For your personal experience with running a blog, how did you title that on a resume?
@Suki Liang Hi! You can always put a link underneath the contact info area such as name & email. Then title it website - (insert link).
@@growwithchristine Thank you!
Just found you keep going love the information
Amazing - thanks for your support 🙂
hi im brand new to this. Im taking free courses on linkedin. Im not sure what im marketing but i took 4 semesters in education and social work. I cant afford to finish my degree and stumbled on digital marketing as i was taking software classes and they were quite difficult. I took classes on billing and medical billing as well but could not land a job. Im going to try making a portfolio and buy some of the software as all i have is an hp.
Hi Brittany! Hope you were able to finish building your portfolio and land some interviews :)
Hi Christine, I am currently taking the Coursera digital marketing course, what're your thoughts about it, and do you recommend anything else?
Hi there! I took an online digital marketing course similar to the one I have in my description. I haven't checked out any other courses including Coursera so I would not know how good they are
@@growwithchristine oh I see, and the course in the description is it your own course? Or is it the Acadium?
I clicked the Acadium link but couldn't see where the prices are
@@nazzhk6268 Acadium is an internship program that is free
Hi was looking into your course is your promo code still valid?
Providing an update that the coupon code 20Off should work now
Instead of volunteer per say, can i apply for internships in agencies
Hi Utkarsh! Yes, definitely can as well
Quick questions please, did you learn about Google ads and Facebook ads at the same time before you tried looking for a job? Also, did you learn every category of Google ads( search ads, video ads, discovery, display ads and shopping ads)?
Yes, I learned both Google and Fb ad basics. I also took the certifications for all of the above categories
Do you recommend doing seth Jared's course?
Yup I took that course
I mentioned it in one of my videos
Sounds too good to be true
One month and landed a Job and Microsoft later
Yes, that’s what I thought too… I worked hard and was probably really lucky. I also have a lot of experience with interviewing through out my career. Definitely give it a shot even if you are hesitant
❤
I want to learn more with paid media but I heard you need a licensed business to run paid ads now. Is that true?
No you don’t. Google just needs a verified individual. You can just register yourself instead of a business
subbed great content, do you offer coaching ?
Hi! You can check out my digital marketing class in the description. Would love to help answer any questions through the program :)
@@growwithchristine Okay thanks
Any Digital Marketing courses that you recommend?
Hi there! I took an online digital marketing course similar to the one I have in my description. I haven't checked out any free courses, but you can review the ones on UA-cam
Chineze people are so funny with huge glasses. I like her, she makes me laught. Big glasses haha.
I was looking up digital marketing job ads. One of them is asking for:
segmenting database
conduct market research
write creative copy / email copy / distribute with automation software
custom landing pages
Custom templates
CMS
create forms
Create CTA's
create reports on campaigns
HTML
CSS
SEO
SEM
GOOGLE analytics
google tag manager

I’m clueless how the heck am I supposed to learn so many skills. Is it necessary to learn so many skills?
Hi! Usually job postings have a lot of skills included, but it is nearly impossible to find a candidate with every skill set. Therefore, I encourage to apply anyway and show enthusiasm in wanting to learn.
@@growwithchristine : thank you for the encouragement, I will apply.
I thought you did Seth's course?
Yup, I did. These are additional tips for those who plan to take a course or not
🤔
Let me know if you have any questions!
What was your first digital marketing job and was the entry level job hard?
Hi! My first DM job was at a 10 person start-up agency. My clients ranged from law firms to insurance companies to clothing sites. I focused on PPC and SEO. It actually wasn’t hard per say because I had someone training me on every single task. Hope that was helpful :)
Digital Marketing with Christine that is awesome! Can’t wait to get my first job!
