As I recall the story, it was Julius Boros who casually wore an Amana promotional hat during a tournament without a second thought or any pay. But the visual impact he made is what gave the company the sponsorship idea.
The "playing golf with clients" is the biggest value these endorsement deals have for many of the brands. The deals that are made because someone gets to play a round with a major champion winner extremely outweigh having box seats for a lakers game or something. Having notable pro golfers in your corner is a weapon for companies.
Very interesting and informative video. I was hoping that you would specifically address current Nike contracts with their players. I noticed about three years ago that any PGA player wearing Nike has no other logos on their clothing whatsoever. So, I assume that Nike prohibits other sponsors with their contracted players?
How ironic it is that Woods inked a $40 million contract before ever teeing off as a pro, yet he trashed every golfer who went to LIV because he believed the lucrative deals they were getting would make them "not hungry"? Been a fan of Woods since he first became pro but you have to admit, that is some hypocritical trash talk.
Show me one single quote where Tiger trashed other golfers who took the LIV money. Never happened, stop making things up to support your pathetic agenda. All he did was say no thanks to what they were offering.
@@gregrizzo8054 on LIV players getting guaranteed money Woods said “What is the incentive to practice and earn it in the dirt?’’ I guess according to tiger every other professional athlete in every other sport doesn’t try or practice as they get guaranteed contracts.
Tiger and Rory have invested in companies with PGA licensing rights. Don't get it confused. That has been the main issue for years. Anything a player does at a PGA event is owned by the PGA. These are individual contractors but can't control their name, image and likeness while at the course. LIV doesn't put any restrictions on the players while at events.
2"X3" limits on shirt space seems pretty skimpy for the amount of💲these companies are investing. I wonder if the LPGA has looser restrictions on ad space. I believe that I've seen some ladies with bigger ad prints on their backs.
As always, it we the regular players that pay for all this stupid commercial, expensive equipment and sponsorship. It's sick, the equipment you buy more than 70% goes to this idiocy of commercials, and ridiculous payment to the players at the top.
Max homa has more logos on his shirt than a mexican bsseball team
😂
Ha
😂😂
he gotta find a way to pay for all of lacey's (his wife's) spending habits. high maintenance!
GD's UA-cam content is on fire lately. hope it can translate to other sm channels too

09:02 …and it’s a global sport?
How can you not know how to announce Amana? Like it’s still a huge appliance brand
. UH-MAN-UH
this was awesome - thank you

Yup 🤦♂
Amazing video
It’s not just about the USA market. Golfers go literally all over the world.
that was sick
I hope it's not COVID
Phil got paid $10 million per year to wear the Bearing Point hat, which became KPMG. Rumor has it the number got bumped to $15 million.
Nice video....
When Malbon wore Jason Day 😅

All the criticism toward LIV included some hypocrisy. People acted as if we don’t all buy the oil and gas that funds Saudi
@@philipdeaton5217Or as if every Fortune 500 company and PGA Tour sponsor doesn't do business in and with SA.

Woods logo has to be the worst. Even the Dude Wipes looks better.
Nothing can be worse than dude wipes lol
Nike have obviously recognized the fact that tiger is done, reduced to has-been status
and then theres the guys who pay $50+ to advertise for titleist lol
I wonder if Titleist would pay me NOT to play their golf balls.

Why yes. Yes I do. 😊 It is very interesting to read the story of the Titleist logo. Read about Helen Robinson.
