Even if you are only counting games that are playable on Nintendo Switch, *which is what Nintendo is doing here* , Sunshine and Galaxy were both available in Super Mario 3D All-Stars...unless that was just a hallucination, and there never was a Super Mario 3D All-Stars!

I remember when we had to wait 23 years for the next Mario game! They called it the "Great Mario Gap". It's hard to believe New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe took that long to develop, but clearly it paid off.

I've watched a stream of both of these Mario games. I also played "Super Mario 64" on someone's Nintendo DS for a little bit as a kid. It's a great game!

I did notice the lack of mentioning the 3D All-Stars games with Sunshine and Galaxy since that was only for a limited time.
I'm thinking that they want to forget about 3D All-Stars considering that the game sold more than 9 million copies, and they brought back Super Mario 64 for the Nintendo 64 Online.
I still don't get why they can't just have that sit on e-shop. It's free money.
They also omitted New Super Mario Bros. DS, New Super Mario Bros. Wii Galaxy 1 + 2, Super Mario Land 1+ 3, Mario 3D Land, Mario 64 DS if you're being picky...
There's a few omissions. And then you could get suuuper nitpicky and say that Super Mario All Stars is its own game - and what about the rerelease with Super Mario World? Super Mario Run? What about all the Satellaview stuff, or Mario Paint? Do the RPGs count?
There's... a lot of oddballs that they're missing here.

They need to distract people from the fact that they just took down the biggest 3DS emulator, making preservation of many titles effectively impossible as they’re no longer available for sale.

Congratulations, you figured out the purpose of Mar10 Day. They've been doing this same thing since 2017, just adding new Mario games to the list every year.
All these older games available on the Switch, amazing! Nintendo sure loves emulation. What a fantastic way to enjoy these classics on different hardware!
They don't approve unauthorized distribtion of software. Virtual console and NSO are allowed because it is within their services.

Note, most of the older games might be no longer playable in years to come when ever they shut down the switches online service. Just puting that out now.
True, I'm disappointed in Nintendo... But nobody cares...
None of them will be playable. NSO requires a periodical online check-in, which won't be possible if the servers are shut down. You don't own those games, and Nintendo won't let you own them, so you're better off sailing the seven seas anyway.
And credit where credit is due, at least with the Wii U you can actually go back to the games you purchased. Despite the online service shutting down.

I'm here playing Mario Odyssey on Yuzu in 4K, too bad Nintendo does not apreciate that, I think they are jealous that many can do a better job at making the game look better, while they can't even run the game a 900p
Raw horsepower is not a free lunch, if they did focus on that like you wanted, people would still resent the console, it would just be for a different reason instead.

This felt more like an advertisement for the Switch and the Nintendo Switch Online service than a celebration of Mario. Kinda left a bad taste in my mouth that Mario Sunshine and Galaxy 1+2 were left out.

They're attempting to drown out the bad press they've created by strong-arming the developers of the Yuzu and Citra emulators to remove all of their work.

i really loved the classics shown in this promotion (totally not ad) called super mario land, new super mario bros, new super mario bros wii, new super mario bros u, the original super mario 3d world, super mario sunshine, super mario galaxy, super mario galaxy 2, mario paint, hotel mario, super mario bros: the lost levels, super- wait, what? what do you mean they're not here?
I will honor Mario tomorrow with my favorite tunes from some of the Mario games and The Super Mario Bros. Movie; watched it for the first time on the eve of my birthday to celebrate my birthday.

What if there were multiple Mario games that involve a motion control scheme? And what if we got a level creator on a console with a handheld screen?

Citra is a 3DS emulator. It cannot play the Wii U game Super Mario 3D World.

@@WhatIsMatter101 no it wasnt. nintendo and yuzu settled for 2.4 million dollars. you could've won actually if they decided to stay because it wasn't helping pirates. emulation itself is not illegal, its only illegal if you pirate games for it. yuzu required you to export your purchased copy of a game to yuzu so you can use it leagally (you both needed a nintendo switch and a legal copy of a game to do it). people did find work-arounds but it wasn't by yuzu, so there is a high chance that they would've won if they would'nt have setteld.

Mario has sure come along way I’ll never forget that super Mario 64 and Mario kart 64 were my first Mario games I’ve ever played it’s amazing to see how much he’s brought Nintendo fans childhood across the world and I will always play Mario games and I still do today from time to time. I’m sad that Charles Marnette who voiced Mario retired but at least his legacy of voicing, Mario will always be remembered and not forgotten, I was so thankful he made a cameo for the super Mario Bros movie and I’m so thankful he made my childhood awesome because of the super Mario Bros I am proud to be a Mario fan.

Wow what a huge milestone for Mario for all these years of gaming that he has been through! Props to you both Mario and Nintendo for making one of the best gaming franchises in the world ever!! I really truly hope we have more great things to come from you all Nintendo! I also really truly hope that Mario's 40th anniversary next year will just be an absolute blast for sure (I have so much faith that it will just be an absolute blast for sure Nintendo)!
