Aint seen EJ Manuel in a minute. He accounted well for himself here. Get him on ESPN more.
He’s apart of the ACC network
EJ may have too much decency to be a player in this debate your take game that First Take is all about. He came with an understandably biased take representing for FSU, but you could see by his mannerisms and body language and actual concessions to Stephen A's argument from the start that he was conceding defeat in the argument. EJ won't be one to stubbornly adhere to a take when the best of the argument is very clearly on the other side. He stood by his position, but you could see his heart wasn't in it.
Typical racist steven a
To blame TCU is absolutely ridiculous. They earned their way in last year and showed it by scoring 51 points on Michigan
Thank you! Everybody want to overlook the fact that TCU destroyed Michigan.
If you put millions of dollars to ad on cfp final. Do you wanna see TCU's disastrous performance? 😢
@jddarby007 no they don't but it doesn't matter when you get demolished in the big game when it's the only game on and the height of ncaaf. Tcu deserves the blame and after Texas demolish Washington they'll realize that they were a mistake as well.
@@jddarby007that game was back and forth. Now the next game …..
TCU did not belong last year in the playoffs. Losing by 58 points (when the previous margin record was 28 points in a title game) shows that it was a crazy fluke win against Michigan, and CFP committee learned their lesson the hard way last year.
It’s messed up to me because the QB didn’t win by himself. This is a team accomplishment.
Florida State's position as a top 4 team was questionable even before the Travis injury. Boston College and Clemson both had excellent chances to beat FSU. I just can't envision Michigan, Texas, or Alabama being in a position to lose to Boston College.

@@Seeeemy play battle competition, simple as that stop playing only ACC cupcakes
It’s not messed up because the playoff committee job is to find the best four teams not the most for deserving teams. You do understand a team that won 29 straight games and lost once in the conference championship game is now out of playoffs, right
This is a pretty good example of the difference between people who actually play the game and people who just like to watch it and drum up drama and attention. The players and coaches are about the integrity. The media and tv heads are about the ratings and money
This is why their is no authenticity in American sports. Looking in from outside the USA, this is a travesty.
It's a debate show. They can't agree all the time. They have to give convincing arguments from multiple perspectives
@@ruebascu That's exactly why they pulled in that Florida State dude. In fact, it should be a standard that when the hosts agree on a major topic, they put out feelers to find someone with an opposing view point to give authenticity to the debate. Intentionally arguing for the other side you don't agree with is dumb. I used to hate when they made us do that in middle school debate class.

There is NO Bama, sorry!
its so insane to me that they’re actively going up there and saying “its a business, you just cant leave out the ALMIGHTY NICK SABAN out because he’s popular” and being okay with that? especially someone like Shannon who’s been an athlete his entire life? does that not fly in the face of what sports and competitiveness as a whole is about? it’s actually gross
1) Alabama can win on a hail Mary against a 6-6 Auburn and not be penalized for not being dominant but Florida State can win against a number #14 Louisville with a 3rd string quarterback and be penalized for it?
2) The Acc had a winning record against the SEC this year 6-4
3) The argument Alabama getting in off of reputation is trash. If we are awarding playoff spots off of reputation there is no point in playing the season.
Florida State was robbed.
The acc vs Alabama and Georgia not the acc vs every body other than Alabama and Georgia
Alabama stayed number 8 after squeaking past Auburn.
It was beating the 29 game winning, back to back championship having number one team in the country for the SEC championship that moved Alabama to 4th.
When FSU plays Georgia in 3 weeks, we’ll see without a doubt whether or not they deserved to be in the four team playoff
Wished I read this beforehand. I typed the same thing. It is a tournament not a playoff. FSU should boycott one hour before game. Statement should read. "You were right. We have no QB" then drop the mic. Wonder if FSU still wants to go to the SEC?
Stephen A is speaking on what his bosses told him to say , ain't no way a team get left out who have no loses with 2 other teams who lost I don't care what the situation is
I get it. People are tired of the playoff blowouts. But man FSU didn't get a chance
Louisville scored 2 FG and no TDs in a championship game, but i guess that was easy...
I’m tired of Stephen A Smith bringing up Deion? We don’t even know if Deion is a good power 5 coach for yet. Please stop with this narrative
I'm a Coach Prime fan, but yes it is weird to keep inserting him in every conversation.
Thank you and well said 👍🏿
Exactly like Norvell coached a team to a 13-0 record, he didn’t give up a 29 point lead to Stanford and lose like Prime.who says he gonna do better job than what Norvell did this year
Also let's not forget Deion Sanders said he didn't graduate from FSU who gave him a successful career by attending here but did graduate from any college but got an honorary degree from an hbsu so he can coach.Just saying don't feed into the hype and bite the hand that fed you.God sees and God knows.
You totally missed the point
The committee is a FREAKIN DISGRACE! SMH. FSU was SCREWED. Period!

Stop crying and join a real conference. They want to stay in cupcake land and get respect. Texas and Oklahoma are joining the SEC. Washington and Oregon joining the Big 10. Yet, FSU doesn't want that smoke of playing against real competition.
Love to hear them mention how FSU didn't finish their season great against Louisville, but won that game 16-6 holding them to under 200yrds all game and when Louisville was averaging 30+ points all season.

People keep bringing up TCU as why FSU should be out but forget they beat Michigan in the semis. They deserved to be there, Georgia was just that much better last year.
Let’s see if Georgia makes FSU into another TCU in Miami
Yes they are using TCU as a stalking horse. FSU is in northern Florida, right in the hotbed of football recruiting. It’s a complete joke. I can’t imagine being a TCU fan or a player from that team and hearing that disrespect even tho they won their semifinal game.

Yeah, i saw that too.
It’s fair but why are they talking about fsu barely beating louisville and not mention how bama needed to get lucky on 4th and 31 to beat a 6-6 auburn team
Bama scored 1 more point against SOUTH FLORIDA than FSU did against Louisville. People get amnesia about Bama. They struggled against bad teams all season. Arkansas, A&M, and Auburn were all 1 score games. Their only regular season tough game was a double digit loss at home to Texas. What was the impressive wins? The 3 mutual opponents they had with Georgia that everyone said had a weak schedule? 😂 Bama gets points for beating 3 teams that people were saying made Georgia's schedule weak...and Georgia beat all 3 by more than Bama. The bias is hilarious.
It’s a rivalry game. Anybody that knows the Iron Bowl and ESPECIALLY AT JORDAN HARE knows that Auburn team always comes to play regardless of record.
There is nothing fair about going undefeated and not being in the playoffs.
FSU will get a shot at Georgia in the Orange Bowl, then you compare the outcome with that common opponent.
All the talking in the world won’t matter when the team Alabama dethroned, annihilates FSU in 3 weeks
@Bama20512 So explain Arkansas and A&M? What's the excuse for those close games? You know how bad Auburn beat Arkansas? Also explain why so many Bama fans are talking about FSU only scoring 16 on Louisville when ya'll only scored 17 on South Florida while healthy. Bama fans should probably be quiet when it comes to using their regular season as any kind of talking point to why they're deserving. They struggled against really bad teams all year.
Bottom line, if they would “get destroyed” like so many casuals and the committee thinks, FSU earned the right to get blown out. There’s no guarantees that the games they picked will be more entertaining or worth while. The committee basically told the world of college football that winning doesn’t matter. The show matters, money matters and the SEC matters.
Fsu would get destroyed. They looked pathetic against a sorry Louisville team
FSUs defense is a championship defense. They wouldnt get blown out.
@@hector8491 well I Disagree FSU had a championship team they could've won hold thing period. The problem is why did they wait until they went undefeated to drop them to #5?? They couldve done that a week before by telling them we value your injuried QB but they didn't. This is unethical.
because Bama dragged Texas in with them. if Bama loses to Georgia FSU would’ve been in at #4 and both Bama and Texas would’ve been out. but Bama deserved their place with their win but if Bama gets in Texas has to aswell which changed it completely
I agree. They should've put FSU at 5 or 6 the rest of the year, Once the QB went down if that's how they really feel. 2-1 loss schools shouldn't be over FSU. They acting like FSU is division 2 all of a sudden.
I know what you are saying - yea after that Florida gators game, they should have went ahead and started dropping Florida State down in the rankings instead of waiting until the end - that would have looked a little bit better at the end - but that Selection was made around 11 o'clock A.M. this past Sunday - so I will give Florida State ((one week)) of crying and complaining - after this coming Sunday around 11 o'clock A.M. I don't want to hear any more of this crying (please) - the team that should be complaining is Georgia - Michigan should be at home and Georgia should be in the playoffs - Bama will beat Michigan by 17 points at least - 🏈🐘🏆 Roll Tide
Thank you EJ for exposing them. Kirk and others wanted this to happen even when Jordan Travis was still healthy so its like they should say it with their chest and not say it was because of him being injured.
The only thing exposed was the weak schedule of FSU amd how bad they were without their QB. They had trouble with Florida 5-7 and a Louisville team that just lost to Kentucky 8th in the SEC. Think with rationality and not emotions.
@@allobove7798 so alabama wasnt bad against auburn? It took them a miracle to pull that off.

The countless power 5 programs in the Country. It's impossible to narrow it down to 4. If you go undefeated you deserve opportunity to compete.
With a 3rd string qb? And when yall barely beat Louisville?? Man stop

Man, you’re so right. No one is talking about whether Michigan could be in or not, it’s been all about Alabama/FSU.
Not to mention, imo, CFP rankings were screwed up before championship weekend in the first place.
For example, they want to place FSU in the top 4 for the last several weeks of the season even after Jordan Travis gets hurt, but when it’s the curtain call for the playoff selection, they’re suddenly booted out? It makes the initial rankings look a little foolish.
There’s always gonna be team left out, and there are always going to be fans that are upset their team isn’t in - whether you have 4 team playoff or 40 team playoff, but FSU definitely has a valid argument.
I see someone else besides myself has common sense 💯
I personally felt like they shouldve forfeited the rest of the season based on the cheating incident
@@anthonysmith9972 that’s part of my issue. If they go on to win the title, there’s a chance it’ll be vacated anyway, along with wins on the rest of their schedule.
He's absolutely correct. The CFP committee and the NCAA cater to whatever the fans want. When Colorado was garnering a lot of attention earlier in the season, all of the Buffaloes games were nationally televised and took precedence over games played by contenders. Cincinnati getting into the CFP was the low point of college football history, and it was all because the fans were clamoring for an underdog to have a chance. College football is a business, so I'm not surprised that it's become a popularity contest. The BCS computers were objective. It wasn't the perfect system, but it was better than this.

Texas beating Bama is the single most important game of this season
Even as a Texas fan, we beat a Bama team that hadn't figured out their QB situation, and definitely took advantage of it. Bama was definitely taking us lightly. While it hasn't shown up on the scoreboard, we lost one of the best RBs in the country, which might finally hurt us now.

Texas lost to OU which in turn OU lost to Kansas. 2 -1 loss schools shouldn't be over FSU.

How is Georgia not in the CFP then Dan if it’s about the 4 best teams?
If sports catered to what the fans wanted, the Cowboys, Lakers and Yankees would be in the semifinals and Finals of their respective sports almost every year which would be DISGUSTING. Like TCU really pissed you off that badly to the point where you blatantly screw over a team who deserves to be there and then your reasoning and pretty much shaming a kid for getting injured. The committee literally said the injury helped pursuade them. That’s so disrespectful to their adversity. Alabama OR Texas shouldn’t be there. FSU should replace one of those teams.
Georgia should've gotten in over Michigan. Not sure how everyone is overlooking how Michigan played 2 games all year (PSU & OSU) and their coach was suspended on two separate occasions int he same season for NCAA rule violations.. Their Strength of Schedule was absolutely abysmal for a team not playing in the MAC league. These guys also use the "TCU got boat raced" example to justify FSU, yet last year TCU dominated Michigan from the jump. They haven't belonged. Period. Alabama will beat them by 35+
So only one undefeated should be in the playoffs
Just another reason why this season would have been perfect for the College 12 team playoffs.
Ironically, I saw that it was the ACC that voted against it.
Stephen A bringing up TCU is a horrible argument because, yes they got blown out in the title game but they beat Michigan in the playoff to get there. Also we've seen plenty of blowouts in title games. Bama got blown out by Clemson, Note Dame by Bama, Clemson blown out by LSU. It's also a bad example cuz TCU lost in the big 12 title game last year and still got in while FSU is undefeated this year
There's absolutely no excuse...

Stephen A and Shannon did a lot of talking about business and brand in their justification. That speaks volumes. Playoff expansion will not change this at all. The fans who have constantly been pushing for this expansion because of the media favorites getting an advantage in the rankings clearly don't realize that they only pushed for a system in which the biggest brands are still going to get in even with 3 or 4 losses 😂. Be careful what you wish for.
really and truly Georgia deserves to be in the playoffs with 29 straight wins and we came in at number 1.
I’ll take a different approach and just point out how much had to go WRONG for FSU to NOT get in. Jordan Travis gets hurt against their weakest opponent. Miami, UF, and Clemson on paper all strong opponents but all had down years, making their schedule weaker. Not their fault. Auburn choke job against Alabama. Back up QB has to go into concussion protocol. Louisville loses to KENTUCKY week before ACC championship. Georgia key players hurt for SEC championship game, lose by just 3. Michigan’s Harbaugh suspended for “cheating” but team not punished. Alabama’s one loss coming to another team (Texas) that made playoff which gave Texas the nod since then Alabama beat GA. Washington squeaking by several games. It’s borderline unfathomable the amount of things to happen for the first undefeated Power 5 team to not make the playoff. All I keep hearing is SEC team never been left out WELL no undefeated power 5 team has ever been left out either. What’s your point?
I 1000% believe if Ewers got hurt then Texas could've still made it because they have Arch and that young man is a STUD
If they didn’t have a 3rd string qb I think they are the #1 seed and I’m a Oklahoma and Michigan fan
FSU without Travis isn’t even a top 10 team so all these ACC advocates need to stop the absurdity.
Serious question...Does anyone think that any of the new top 4 would put up 30 POINTS FSU's DEFENSE? Seriously? Had FSU been allowed to play, it would be a game of defense and kicking. This is what the networks DID NOT want to see. They have said as much. They said FSU could not score. But perhaps the defense...with forced fumbles, sacks, interceptions? We won't know because they were not given the opportunity. Maybe FSU's defense injures the other team's QB and it's now an even game? FSU got robbed and they have said as much.
facts thats the best fsu defense since derrick brooks
How did Georgia look against a bad ACC team in Ga Tech (won by 8) a week ago? How did Bama look against a bad Auburn team who was blown out by New Mexico State (31-10) a few weeks ago? They mention FSU last two games but conveniently leave out GA and BAMA last two games. FSU found a way to win without their players GA and BAMA struggled with their players all on the field. They whole country have know for years their SEC biases.
They said the reason out loud all day yesterday. It's about ratings, viewership, which ultimately come down to money. I wish FSU would boycott the game to prove a point. Sports has always been about wins and losses. Who cares how ugly or pretty it looks. No way 2 1- loss teams should be over FSU. Now if you want to debate which 1 loss team (UGA, bama, Texas or OSU) should be 4 I'm all in.
i agree with Dan. although FSU kept their undefeated record there’s been history of other CF teams who had a backup QB who have dominated and kept their season alive. the performances of FSU within the last 2 games showed that they weren’t going to survive against the other teams in the CFP rankings. Washington had a phenomenal, close game against Oregon and so did Bama against the reigning champs. it sucks but overall FSU being left out is probably the best tbh.
OSU won with cardale Jones and I believe he was their 3rd string I believe.
Bama barely beat Auburn and stayed #8. Texas lost to Oklahoma and a sorry OSU
He is correct.. ESPN wants ratings and knows that based off Travis being hurt ratings will be better with Alabama in the CFP. Bias based off the $ ESPN can make during this CFP. Having Deion would've had enough star power for ESPN to look past Travis being hurt. Blame ESPN on FSU not being in.
Talk about being on Deion’s Nut Sac. Deion is 4-8, with the 65th Rank Recruiting class. Deion has never won a conference championship. Not even the SWAC
The TCU argument isn't strong, though because they beat Michigan in the Semi-final game, which validated their inclusion. Getting smoked by Georgia doesn't erase that. If Michigan had destroyed them, then you could say that
At least someone else finally said it
Let's be real. If Georgia had won I guarantee Texas is left out. Because Alabama won there was no way the committee would've been able to justify moving Texas out since they beat Bama. Funny you don't hear anyone bring that up, but that's what would've happened.
Definitely uga smokes Texas but they had to bite the bullet
@Alex-tw8nb What I was meaning was that Texas doesn't get in over Florida State if Georgia had won. I just realized I didn't complete my thought. That's the point I wanted to make.
Don’t be mad at me the committee, be mad at a system that only allows 4 teams out of 133 to participate in the playoffs.
He brings up how we struggled against Louisville but didn’t bring up the facts that Bama struggled against Auburn who lost big against New Mexico State at home cause they don’t want to talk about it
Why even bring up deion?
Not Deion again 🤦🏿♂️. lol 😂😂😂
They be discrediting Norvell going 13-0, like Deion went 4-8 who says he gonna do better than what Norvell did for FSU
Deion the same coach they keep praising that gave up a 29 point lead to Stanford and lost
@@aaronnguyen3809Exactly what I was thinking. The media especially SAS is ridiculous
@@aaronnguyen3809good point
@@gcdocmo1033 Media can give the excuse of Deion having bad record bc of lack of “talent” but some of their losses comes down to coaching too not just blaming on players
Didn't Alabama almost lost to Auburn, and only beat Georgia by 3? Florida State wasn't the only one that struggled.
Exactlyyyyyy
We got all of ESPN, Fox Sports, 2 rivals, the Alabama, Georgia, Texas fanbases, and all of Twitter saying FSU shouldn’t make the playoffs because of no Jordan Travis.
Sounds like he should win the Heisman trophy since he’s that important.
I'm a UGA fan and I'm disgusted that FSU was robbed.
Even if Jordan Travis hadn't been hurt the committee still would have picked the winner of the SEC over them. If FSU would have lost to either Florida or Louisville it would have just made the snub easier and the committee would have chosen both Georgia and Alabama.
They have been talking about jumping FSU before the Jordan injury. Nuff said.
Y’all keeping bringing up Bama history it is suppose to be season by season
The committee worrying about a team getting blowed out in the championship game shouldn’t matter FSU is undefeated and two teams with a loss is ahead of them smh that’s crazy
If FSU is a "different team" why did the committee wait until the very last moment to make that apparent? Why did Corrigan in previous weeks come on ESPN and say Travis being injured had nothing to do with the rankings? We all know why. Because they are desperate to have an SEC team in the playoffs because it will bring in more money. The committee and the the ESPN pundits should be ashamed of themselves. This was wrong and you know it.
i didnt know winning 11 straight was more than winning 13 straight
I guess I can’t count 🤦🏾♂️
This is about Alabama, they just want Bama to be in there no matter what, you beat Bama, you shoot up to number 3 (Texas) when you weren’t top 4 for the majority of the season, you lose to Bama, you drop from number 1 to 6 and rank below a team that doesn’t have a QB and played the weakest schedule 🤔
They should just put Bama in there before the season even starts and tell everyone else to fight for the remaining spots - It’s ridiculous
I mean that's essentially what's done. Take the year hurts was starting and they lost and missed the sec champ...... but y'all pushed them past Champs?!! I care less about that lucky af win they had with Tua, you shouldn't have been there with more rest. That was the start of Bama rule bending and for finebaum to suggest them for last year?! FOH man that's terrible
@@Jslowbro It’s absolutely ridiculous, to even say “an SEC team HAS to be there, Nick Saban HAS to be there” is insane, what does that even mean - It’s unfortunate that the people who make these decisions are rotten and corrupt, having 12 teams next year won’t fix anything because it’s clear now that this committee will forcefully rank SEC team in such a way that they either get a first round bye or get favorable matchups until they are the only ones remaining
@@manqoba.ngwenya9163 exactly
Agreed. These are not playoffs, these are just bowl games with participants selected va based on popularity.
Remember just two seasons ago, Alabama beat Georgia to win the 2021 SEC title, and both teams ended up with a record of 12-1.
Then, despite Georgia losing the SEC title game to Bama, both SEC teams were also (voted into) in the BCS final four (the playoffs). In which Georgia beat down Michigan and Alabama beat Cincinnati. And once again, there were two SEC teams representing in the more significant bowl games, with each having a loss, playing for the opportunity to be in the College Football National Championship game.
Both SEC teams ended up competing against one another, again, and that time for the College Football National Championship - despite Bama already beating GA Bulldogs in their SEC title game.
not only that bama blew us out in the sec championship game. it wasnt close lol.
i'm a fan of stephen a but I find him so annoying when he keeps hyping up deion... why??
DEION SUCKS AS A COACH! all he does is bring the media circus that hurts any team he's on.
I’m not saying FSU should claim a national title, I’m just saying I don’t know how you continue to hold the respect and reverence for the “official” college football playoff title when they’ve decided the games played and season achievement doesn’t matter.
All this talk but what no one is talking about is how all this is making Travis feel. Imagine feeling the reason your brothers aren’t in the playoff after going undefeated now being blamed all on you. Because you got injured.
Finally it make sense and I agree. Thankyou very much
What about Michigan's strength of schedule? Which is 47th
Fsu was 50 something which is worse than 47th…
They play in a better conference and beat the #2 team in the country
Oregon vs Georgia / Ohio State vs Florida State or vice versa this should be the bowl games for the ones who didn't make the CFP 😏
So beating Auburn on a last second 4th and goal from the 31 passes the look test? Beating Arkansas by 3 passes the look test? Pulling away from USF late passes the look test? FSU had more total yards than Michigan in the conference championship game. Make it Make sense.
That's so dumb to say it's not the same team without Travis. One player makes a difference but it's still a team effort
Ok, when Georgia beats FSU by 45+ point shutout i think youll understand why they were left out
Exactly they acting like other lesser teams haven’t had the chance to prove it
TCU
Notre dame
Oregon
OU
This nonsense of deserving this and that needs to stop. ACC is a much weaker conference than other conferences especially SEC
And show exactly why Georgia shouldn’t have been left out either lmaoo
What happens when fsu and Georgia play the orange bowl with no stars on either side and fsu win ? , is Georgia still the best ?or is it gonna be the excuses
The disrespect to FSU from ESPN is shameful. First blame FSU missing the playoffs on a 23 year old kid who broke his leg giving everything. Now blame the coach that brought the team back from nothing thanks to Jimbo and Taggert. Norvell should be praised. Deion is a showman and no longer respects FSU.
Half of the CFP committee was ACC reps. Your own conference think you're trash.
NC State is in the SEC thanks to Boo's exploits. It's greed.
