Unilever is a Dutch-British transnational consumer goods company co-headquartered in Rotterdam, Netherlands and London, United Kingdom. Its products include food, beverages, cleaning agents and personal care products.
Unilever owns over 400 brands, with a turnover in 2016 of over 50 billion euros, and thirteen brands with sales of over one billion euros: Axe/Lynx, Dove, Omo, Becel/Flora, Heartbrand ice creams, Hellmann's, Knorr, Lipton, Lux, Magnum, Rama, Rexona/Degree, Sunsilk and Surf. During the second half of the 20th century the company increasingly diversified from being a maker of products made of oils and fats, and expanded its operations worldwide.

*When the videos talks about people dying of poison in India and rainforest getting cut down, the happy and relaxing music continiues*
😂😂😂😂😂
Imagine if they would use Unilever name on all the company's they take over, the supermarket here will be one big Unilever logo
They have different brands operating in the same category. Wouldn't make any sense
I had the privilege to work with Lever/Unilever for twenty-three years in the Caribbean. A wonderful experience and really good people, I have to say.
Hey , I invest in Unilever from Trinidad, is it possible to get a tour?
@@solomonjanosbenjaminlashley Next time you go back to Diego Martin give them a call. I am sure that they will be pleased to assist.
What an amazingly constructed video. This might be your best-researched and structured one to date (seen them all). Well done man.
6:36 That was actually pretty smooth.
I'm now really just wondering how on Earth it is that I didn't become an instant fan after coming across your videos for the first time. Keep these coming!!
The 'freezer case' is a must-learn for any law school student in EU. And even in UK they might still be teaching.
Never knew products like Axe and Becel were owned by the same company... amazing video as usual!
Knowledg
As he said there are literally 10 companies owning the market
Axe and Rexona, Surf Excel and OMO, MAGNUM and the heart shaped logo company, Knorr and Hellman's... A two-pronged attack on every industry
Unilever: The Kraft foods of Britain
Justin Young are you an alien or maybe you are a super human I’m not sure?
most things in america are made by unilever.. look at the labels..
I hate you and don't want to see you again.
Justin Young yep and some of the products are labeled if not created in the USA
Nope. Kraft foods of The Netherlands
Why do you only have 191k subs you should have 3 million keep up the good work mate👍👍.
Dude, you have the smoothest transition from the video to the commercial on the end. You almost got me twice!
So glad you mentioned South Africa! As always: awesome video!
Sounds like a big company promoting restrictive regulations, with the help of government, to limit competition from smaller players while appearing to be altruistic. The public is none the wiser so long as key words are used - sustainable, clean, green, etc.
Oh and by the way, this isn’t free market capitalism. It’s crony capitalism .
lol you're acting like its going to be impossible to buy anything but Unilever. Especially in America its so easy to get local or national smaller players, but most ppl don't buy them because they're an extra few dollars, who's being altruistic now 😂. Also if they're trying to help the environment and improve foreign workers lives, I hope more ppl buy their products to send a message on how to run a 2018 corp.....
Hi, your videos are very informative and your topics of choice are very intresting. Thanks. By the way, your transitions to your advertisers are on point.
every video getting better and better
With all the shit floating around on youtube, it's so refreshing to have a channel with such amazing content. Thank you very much.
It's not just about ethics. It was very unlikely the Kraft takeover would have been approved in EU and many other countries as they would monopolize so many product categories.
Amazing as always!
AJ bringing them gems
Unilever is a huge corporation !
Love your show!
Could you make an episode about Local Motors? The new "car" manufacturer and their backend platform?
In Zambia we have Trade Kings, they are pushing out Unilever and Nestle. Trade Kings is also in the process of dominating in Africa.
Wow, Africa. You can have the corruption
I love Dove Men's Care over Degree. Very nice scent with DMC
Amazing Video! You should do LVMH, the largest luxury goods conglomerate, in charge of brands like Louis Vuitton, Moet and Hennessy!
Ngl even changing a little is helpful and should be rewarded. I'll try to buy more unilever products to help them out.
@5:21 Yes, I think they can be sustainable because they are really big. Since they, as one of the largest industrial businesses, have a large stake in many suppliers with a huge variety, their results could be huge.
I always look forward to watching your videos! Another great one.
Unilever recently tried to cancel an eba for Streets Ice cream workers in Australia. This would have resulted in up to a 46% pay cut for some workers.
Fortunately a consumer boycott of Streets products had them change their mind
i have been waiting for this video for so long, i have a habbit of reading every label in the bathroom and have always wondered how big Unilever was
Same
Great video like always! Love your work.!
the ice cream company with that heart logo is actually a swedish brand from the beggining and is originally named GB glace.
Dutch took over everything, so smart people.
I'm so happy you stopped the one stripe thing!
Nice video again, but it lacks of info on what Unilever is actually doing to reduce its environmental impact
Got an interview with Unilever tomorrow, thanks
I really like this channel and presentation, one of the best
A brilliant channel! :)
It's been 2 months without a video and i feel sad :(

RIP New video every Friday at 12PM EST
I am desperately waiting for new video
There are bigger companies:
Sounds to me unilever is guilty of price fixing in certain areas but its hard to imagine larger companies that aren’t under as much scrutiny as being innocent
A company has no responsibiity. It is a legal entity on paper. The responsibility belongs to specific individuals, such as the CEO, the board, the secretary, the lawyer, etc. Each of these SOBs need to be fried on the stakes before "companies" get it. More on.
Lever is pronounced leever? Oh, I've been pronouncing it wrongly all along
retak I think it’s just a regional thing, I know so many people who don’t call it like that
Ricardo González I don't
In Indonesia we simply pronounce it "oo-nee-lay-vur" as our Dutch predecessors
retak that's how they pronounced it in the lever2000 commercials
lee-ver is the standard way to pronounce it in the UK
leh-ver is an americanism as far as I'm aware, I don't know if it's regional personally
BC is European (afaik) so it makes sense that the UK pronounciation would be the one used.
great job dude as always ;)
Clever video! A Brand with a true purpose.
Right now there are Coronovirus cases in the Independence/ Kansas City Missouri plant yet Unilever is still forcing their employees to come to work. They hired 4 or 5 non experienced temp workers to clean up a facility that's thousands of square feet. They claimed to have done this in less than 24hrs. They also hired non medical Temp workers to take our temperature. This will result in many infections. This is sad
I like how you always have felix hidden somewhere in the video 👌
Unilever is so dutch, many brands are dutch as well.
Pls do a video on Mandelez
This is just hecking amazing.
This video has been our Audiological material😂
great video, thank you
Why did you stop posting videos
Where are you business casual? Been waiting 2 months for a new video.

The palm oil problem is a bigger thing than just some companies. The issue are people who buy the products and not the conpanies making it. But hey, thats just a theory from a guy working at a fat producibg factory.
Palm oil is mainly used in the food industry rather than sold in supermarkets, so its up to the palm oil producers to switch to a more environmental friendly oil or fat.
If they can make all those assorted products, they surely can make all of them eco-friendly.
How can the consumer possibly vote with their wallet when it isnt obvious what company made the goddam product?!
Daedhart
You should be able to find the logo in the package somewhere. If you can't but really care, you can simply just look it up.
Unilever always puts its own logo on the packaging.
Yes, on the back side, or when there isnt one you check for the "produced by" line near the bottom.
Daedhart Cosumers don't want to know how their products are made. As long as it looks different to its competition and it has an reliable acceptable quality for a low price consumers will buy it.
The higher environment and labour standards push by company is a way to reduce competition of less resourceful competitor, oil company always do that.
Pls come back
Every video of yours I have to look for Felix

To be fair, Unilever is probably the most ethical of all the big retail conglomerates.
Unilever + ING Bank = United East India Company. It still exists.
DaFuq?
Virat Chhikara Indeed. Yet, it is what it is. It's not even a secret for the companies. Unilever (the Lever part) is a 100% direct descendant from the Anglo-Dutch "VOC". As is ING, which was the part of the VOC company that handled the financial part (stocks and bonds). Homework assignment: Google the ING headquarters building. It's shaped as a 17th century merchant ship, exactly like the ones used by the VOC. Pretty subtile. ;)
There are various clues in this video as well, like, where Lever was active in Indonesia (East India to Dutch) with palm oil and soy. Historically, all kinds of spices and oils came from that region to Europe through the Dutch part of the VOC. Lever just continued to utilize the existing trade infrastructure with the same products...
Please do Amazon and one of the big banks (Bank of America, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche bank)
