VERY important tip! DO NOT LET GO OF THE REAR BRAKE WHEN YOU'RE COMING TO A STOP. If you let go while you're sliding 90 degrees, the tire will grab into the pavement and you will be flung OVER the bike. I learnt this the hard way!

I grew up on dirt bikes, and it translated to street bikes. Only ones I won't try it with are the Goldwing, PC 800, VT 1100, and the VTX 1800. Three due to weight, the other two, because the stand doesn't have a kick out tab. Yet.

I did the sliding U-turn once accidentally while I was practicing my U-turns on my brand new 2017 Versys 650. I was just a beginner on a big bike too, though I did ride a scooter for a few years. I tried to do a tight one on the left side and tipped the bike in too far and it started to drop. I panicked, put my left foot down, dumped the clutch and slid the back tire (on pavement) until I made a perfect U-turn and then stood it up and kept going straight. Kept practicing for 10 more minutes and went home feeling like a pro. LOL I never tried to repeat it, but it felt dope as fuck. :D
@Andrew Van Dam pretty sure any bike will slide, once you're leaned that far it doesn't take a lot of power. it's just the commitment that scares me, on pavement anyway. gravel/dirt is easy.

Okay... I'm extremely new to motorcycling and 4:10 gave me a mini heart attack. One of the most surprising things about getting big into motorcycles for the first time in my life is just how much weight the kickstand can hold. I've always wondered how people managed to lean and sit on them like a chair without worrying about falling over. Watching Ryan climb all over it too and I'm chuckling at how despite all this proof I still worry about tipping one over by breathing on it the wrong way. Or having heart attacks while simply watching him let it go mere inches off the kickstand lol
One easy thing to give you confidence on that one is to try and pull your bike onto the sidestand. Stand on your sidestand footpeg and hold onto the two outmost points on the motorcycle (on a hill if that is not enough) to load the weight onto the sidestand. Same as with just putting the bike up straight you will come to the point where the motorcycle feels nearly weightless because its center of mass is above the contact point. The sidestand is able to hold the full weight of the motorcycle by itself. When you are comfortable with that you can turn your bike 180 degrees on it. Really gives you a feel for how much weight you can put onto it before anything happens.
Depends on the bike as well. Street bikes don't have very strong side stands. So I don't try getting on the peg first to get on the seat, I don't even try to turn my bike on the stand.

Just great. Now I *need* to buy a second bike, one I won't mind dropping a few dozen times. And gas to get me to Saskatchewan. Now show us the over-the-handlebars-dismount from "TAXI" (or the Adidas "Road to Lisbon" ad).
On the bright side, a bike for this should be pretty cheap. And with massive crash bars.Which reminds me, I should really reinstall mine if I'm going to be up to these shenanigans.
I started riding bikes early and at agr 56 I thought I knew how to ride a motorcycle. Ryan ruined that for me. Sure, I can get from point A to point B without dropping the bike (usually). But these videos have really made me realize how much I don't know. Thanks for making great content that keeps schooling me and helps me stay safer.
Ditto. That's what traffic is for. I do a lot of practice on a trials bike and can get some really weird looks sat there waiting for the change. ( When my balance starts to go I elegantly put the foot down and give my nuts an exaggerated scratch, maintaining control, lol.)
Just be aware that in some jurisdictions you'll need to put the foot down at some point in order to avoid getting a ticket for running a red. Here in WA a stop is more or less defined as putting a foot down, even if you're not technically stopped.
Thats what i was looking for. A video about playing with your bike. Thank you. When i was young, i played with my becycle. As a skier i always play with my ski.

I never did this kind of stunts for the show, but for necessity, like when I had an injured foot and could not walk without crutches, but still wanted ya keep on riding. Thankfully, it was the brake leg, so I fitted a pillow contraption on the rear peg to hold my leg without using my foot and I learned how to get on, start, stop and get off and it went so well that I did not have to renounce riding not a single day. :-)
Andy Gascon that’s cause most of them (especially pokers) are not serious riders. Done almost 20,000 miles this year and I’m not done yet. I love no bikes they have their place, but for my long trips and my motovlog I prefer a Harley.

I am a very confident, pretty safe rider these days but, still have to have fun, and we learn from our mistakes.. my current bike has not been dropped, yet.. came close a few times, but all good, i anticipate the loss..
More often than not I do dress for the slide, not the ride..
but on a quiet sunny hot breezeless Sunday morning..
Nothing beats a muscle shirt and shorts in southern Alberta at 90km/h.. go from a sweat to chills in minutes, stop and feel your skin trying to still run..
I don’t know.. it’s a feeling..
Maybe freedom, maybe dumb..
but it’s great and I love it..
My body my choice hah
Hey Ryan. Great work, I’ve learned so much with your channel. I love how each of your videos has a creative theme/video style. Keep at it!!!
5:13 ....that's hilarious. As you were climbing all over your bike around 3:17 I was reminded of a Mototrek video.....
“A beat up motorcycle is a sign of the best”
That’s why I never replaced my tank after I fell 🤧😛🙃
Scars tell a man's story, the same is true of machines.
The best part is the bloopers at the end, so it's not like you do it on one shot, but actually suffer too... gives hope. :D
The best videos on motorcycling on the internet!
ive done the first one on a bicycle so many times, should be a master at it xd
Finally the beautiful F800GS has returned😍 I couldn't stay that red thing
What red thing? 🤔
Bret redirects people to your Sena/Cardo video in his last video, so you return the favor here. What good people.
Hurtydwarf I believe they both been in each other’s videos. It’s great to see the support
I really appreciated the honesty in the bloopers/outakes. Thanks for not leaving those out.
I see your johnnie walker and raise - I rode an MTX 200 in the 90's and I learned this, but by the time I stepped off, my keys were in my pocket and my helmet in my hand. Bike was a lot lighter though. Been thinking lately about trying it on the f650 Dakar and you've just inspired me. Another great video, cheers.
You need to start making films. You're brilliantly talented!
Oh frick. I hate when a leaf sticks to my dash and hides my speedo 😤😤😤
Speedo ain't important, it's the revs that count. 😉
Fantastic! Entertainment and information rolled up into perfection.
I try to see how long I can keep my foot off the ground at a stoplight, to impress the cagers.
I do the same thing, but to improve my balance, skill, and experience.
6 seconds here. And i could never do it again.
I'm guilty as well, lol.
Ryan F9: proud supporter of Canadian squids
he rides in a full gear though.. at least on most of his videos
You're gonna get me into trouble. I turn 50 next year. I should act my age....
Me too, buddy... Never act your age!! Fifty is the new thirty when it comes to riding, it keeps you young, Don!✌️
Donald Klopper. C’mon! I’m 73 and I’m going to at least try some of this! Les in UK
@@leslieaustin151 fair point. Just make sure it's on video and that you come and share it with us!
i turned 40 this year, sure i will try the balancing act as it will help me do a longer "footofthefloor" at a stoplight :)
Im in my 50's. Helmets help hide your age tremendously!
In all your videos, how have I just now discovered this one? You've finally done it. After YEARS, you've earned a sub.
Thats what i was looking for. A video about playing with your bike. Thank you. When i was young, i played with my becycle. As a skier i always play with my ski.
Ryans laugh during some of this tricks made my question my sexuality
He's the guy we can all bring home to mom.
Maybe it was the flash of chrome instead. Perhaps you are a chromo-sexual.
If that's all it takes to question your sexuality then there's no need to question it at all, because you're already gay my friend. lol
3:32 uhmm my feathered footed elf self brought down my Grom in every position..
Statutory warning: do this on a adventure motorcyle.
Fun to watch but not applicable to my pristine V7 III Special.
Best motorcycle videos. Period.
You sir have the best voice ever to listen to or to narrate video's. Very pleasent to listen to and with much confidence.
4:11 my heart stopped when he let go
I feel like you’re the Adam Neely of motorcycles...
I think i like Ryan better tho
Well played.
Michael Fish But, first you have to know who Adam Neely is. I think not enough people do! Bravo!
Hey wait a minute! I’m from Saskatchewan! We have SOME pavement 😤
Last quote was the best. "An immaculate motorcycle is the sign of a good rider, but a beat up motorcycle is the sign of the best." I recently discovered your channel, and I have to say, you're probably the most educational rider instructor I can find. Thanks youtuber that sounds like fortnite!
Can’t see this being so easy on my Harley with forward controls 😂😂
Would pay to see him do this on my 10 second Super Glide.
I want to try it on my ultra classy lol
Andy Gascon that’s cause most of them (especially pokers) are not serious riders. Done almost 20,000 miles this year and I’m not done yet. I love no bikes they have their place, but for my long trips and my motovlog I prefer a Harley.
Mr. McStache I’m learning more everyday.Safe trips my fellow rider
"unconventional mounting" and "hold with two fingers" .... Ay Ryan you been speaking to my girlfriend ? lol
@Badger0fDeath hahha ...noooooo
Badger0fDeath wow that was good.
@Badger0fDeath lmao 😂
@Badger0fDeath
And her mouth, of course.
@Badger0fDeath credit where it due .. you got me on that one lol
As soon as I get a second bike, my first is in for it....
This is my favourite motorcycle channel ever... Thanks a lot
Possibly the most fun bike video ever!
