I have 928k subs and I upload mostly UA-cam shorts. I upload 1 short per day on average depending on the ranking (1/10) in a few hours time after upload. When I was starting out with just a few hundred subscribers, I uploaded 2-3 shorts per day and spaced every few hours.
I post videos almost everyday and went from 300 to 10k subscribers in less then two months. However, since one video went viral, I got addicted and obsessed 🤗 trying to crafts the next video to go viral but somehow, it’s not happening 😂 but I’m proud of myself 👏🏽 Anyway, great video Sean 🙌🏽
Its different for every channel, pay close attention to your analytics. I try to post daily at 5:30 to 6pm and thats what works for me. I have over 150k subscribers soo far.
Great video because I think that the biggest problem with UA-camrs now is their lack of strategy. Like they upload everything straight away, and then they run out of ideas. This business is about constant uploading, but not too many times per week (and also after I upload something, I use a little bit of Famester to make that piece of content instantly viral and popular). It's better to upload like once or twice per week, and it helps to avoid burn out.
I've got just 95 subs, but am happy for them. Still going very slow because I want my staged content to be very good. And performance and other content less worried about it.
I'm at 237 and try to be consistent. It's a struggle for me to get one a week. Would definitely like to get to two a week, which is my goal moving forward. Keep pushing, it will get where you want it to be!
When I entered September I decided to start uploading weekly vs bi-weekly during summer break. I might need to grind a little so I can get ahead of the upload schedule rather than racing to get that video ready in time.
Since I started my channel six months ago, I've been posting one long-form video a week (typically going live at 12pm on Fridays). I genuinely don't think I'm capable of increasing that output frequency without compromising my video quality, but thankfully my growth has been super steady even with only producing a single episode every week. I consistently average about 100 new subscribers a week this way.
This is the video we have been waiting for and we here to say thank you so much 🥁. I find that when I post at night around 10pm for shorts, it’s pretty good but my long form is struggling and in need of help. Thank you.
Thanks for answering my question, Sean! What a blessing! This is my actual channel, Wrona's Wild Cure. Thanks for always providing such practical, helpful information!
We try to post weekly long form and shorts when applicable. However, our schedule and video creation along with seasonality increase or decrease that at times! Appreciate you and your team for all you do for us creators. All our best!
Thanks for this video.! I am a beginner here & was just looking for exactly this question that your answered so well in this video. Looking forward to learn more. Thanks so much. Love from India 🙏
I need this today! Thanks Think Media! I love your love for new content creators like myself, mine is literally 8 days old and appreciate this very good community of creators supporting each other :-)
This is a great video for someone like me who just posted whenever not having consistency out of all of your videos I have watched this one is the bullseye for me thanks for sharing 👍🏽
Hi Sean! I really appreciate you work. Thank you so much. I have a faceless channel on NDE stories and I upload 1 story every day. It's a new channel, so I'm hoping to captivate an audience soon. All the best to you and your family!
This was a great video, thanks. I watch many (not all!) of your uploads and this has to be one of the most valuable for my particular wants and needs right now - and delivered in a 'no fuss' absorbable manner. Thanks again. Just
Great video, I had a video on my previous channel take off over a year after it was first published - it ended up getting over 250k views and brought in over 5,000 subscribers to the channel!
I have a podcast I do on Mondays @ 7pm EST. I stream live on Facebook, then I download it and edit the FB live. Then I usually upload that edited live either Tuesday or Wednesday. Next I create 7-10 shorts from the podcast and then upload 1 short a day. I've been getting 900% more views and gotten 40 new subscribers, since using this strategy.
I just started scheduling my videos a few days ago. I have a ton of videos set up in a specific schedule at the moment. Some of them have already been uploaded because they were scheduled to come out by now. But I still have a huge chunk of videos that aren’t out yet that will be out soon. I have them set up in a daily schedule right now. I have them scheduled by 1 long video and 2 shorts per day everyday. I thought it would be a good way to schedule them. I’m open to hear any criticism or helpful feedback on my posting strategy.
As a new UA-camr (17 subscribers ❤), I still don’t have the analytics for when my audience is most active. So, I have been testing different times and days as mentioned in tip 6. I have created a goal of posting one long form minimum per week and 4 shorts per week because I am learning the filming & editing and balancing that with my full time job and family responsibilities. Still in the learning stages, still in the growth stage and I appreciate videos like these that give great insight. Thank you 😊
Me too and I have over 1K but it still doesn’t show the analytics for when my audience is active and it’s been like that for months. So how are we supposed to know or is that feature for special creators?
😂 Loved the return to the WWE for reference abt your live stream and upload days. Sometimes, the best thing we can just do is just do the thing and move on to the next.
I’ve varied my uploads over the past 5-6 months, some weeks uploading 2 shorts a day, sometimes 1 short a day and a long form every week/fortnight or so…. And to be honest the best thing I heard was the more you upload the quicker you “fail” meaning the quicker you can improve and the quicker you can see what you / the audience like. 8:35
I have a woodworking channel and I’m lucky if I can get 1 video out every 2 weeks. It takes me a week to make the video and almost another week to edit it. I need to find a way to speed up the process.
Now I don't feel so bad about making content every day. My current schedule. Monday & Tuesday: Podcast clip (long form) Wednesday, full length podcast. Thursday: Live. Friday and Saturday: Long Video. Sunday: Live
Sean really is the GOAT when it comes to understanding the core fundamentals of UA-cam - there is so much value on the channel its actually pretty wild! Thanks for watching the channel, Chris!
QUESTION: Can you do a video on best practices when engaging with comments? Early on in my channel I made the decision to engage with comments and create a culture of meaningful dialogue. So far I think I have succeeded, but I assume bigger channels have a harder time with this.
The only problem with scheduled uploads is I don't think they hit the subscription feed based on the schedule but show further down based on when it was first uploaded.
The comment above yours states their stats show the opposite-it’s when the scheduled publish happens, not when it’s loaded into YT and is waiting for the scheduled release.
Thanks for an informative and interesting video. It gave answers to many of our questions and probably more than just us have wondered about. Again, thanks for a great video.
One thing that frustrates me, is when I create a video on a proven topic that has traditionally done very well, and it gets blasted to an insane amount of impressions to a "wider audience" (as if the all knowing algorithm is somehow unaware of who EXACTLY the audience is, based on previously successful videos on my channel on the SAME topic), and in doing so... it completely destroys my CTR and retention in the first 30 seconds, to which the algorithm then decides "this video sucks, I'm going to stop giving it ANY impressions." Like, nah youtube... YOU did that.
Haha good to know I will make sure sometimes I upload 2 videos at once when I already have an automated drop later in the day I will make sure ton uncheck it for the second video I upload simultaneously. Thanks Sean!🎉
I’ve been posting on Sundays since December. I stopped posting for two months, and then started again. I don’t get as many views like I did prior to taking a break. I was always concerned that switching days would throw the algorithm off again. I’m going to try post long form twice a week based on the times recommend, and I’m going to post shorts daily (I’ll try). Whether they get views or not. I’m at 2500 watch hours. I’m not going to stop. Thanks for the tips ❤
We do the 1 a day long form as all the videos for that week are done on the one night. Only 455 subscribers. We record every Monday and we're a week in advance due to having the vids edited and in the schedule queue. Last week's come out in the next week.
Is there any way that you would suggest to track down the time that your video do good or bad and how much data (as in how many videos that is published) you recommend to used for analysing
I used to post weekly but couldn't manage it around my day job so I'm posting every 14 days on Friday at 18.00 UK time and clearly UA-cam are suppressing my content since I went to bi weekly uploads. My videos are 10 to 20 mins though.
I've had a very low number of returning viewers, and I thought the "notify your subscribers" option would help that. If that doesn't work, what would you suggest to get returning viewers? BTW, I currently only have 65 subscribers. Another question, do you think shorts help your long form videos get more views? I connect the long form video to the short, but I'm not sure just yet if it's working. I've only posted 2 shorts so far, mainly because I'd rather spend my time working on long videos. What I've done is create shorts from the long videos in hopes of getting the views converted.
What do you say about the captions. Although it's a built in feature in UA-cam but I still see people putting caption of their own on their videos. Is there any benefit to it?
But WWE doesn't rely on UA-cam. They're a TV show that posts highlights and other stuff on UA-cam. I can see why people who want to be monetized post multiple shorts a day. You need like 112k views per day if you want the 10M goal within 90 days.
Thanks for this advice but I’ve been noticing with shorts is really paying attention to the 1-10 ratio and less posting will actually get you more views I was able to post daily and get lots of views but it’s been changing up on us !
how did the new short feature that allows to link long form videos worked out in your channel? my 2 test showed me that it does not work as the YT developers expected to work. i.e. the short does not send traffic to the long form as expected.

I do also the same once a week on Wednesday. It is working fine based on the time I have.
